1Influence of puerarin,paeoniflorin,and menthol on structure and barrier function of tight junctions in MDCK and MDCK-MDR1 Cells显示文摘Objective:In this study,the influence of puerarin,paeoniflorin,and menthol on the structure and barrier function of tight junctions(TJs)in MadineDarby canine kidney epithelial(MDCK)and MDCK-multi-drug resistance 1(MDR1)cells was evaluated to determine the mechanisms by which the drugs cross the bloodebrain barrier(BBB).Method:Cells were treated with puerarin,paeoniflorin,and menthol followed by immunohistochemical staining with occludin,claudin-1,and F-actin.The cells were then observed using laser-scanning confocal microscopy.Average optical density(AOD)of the immunofluorescence images of the proteins were analyzed using ImageJ software while Transepithelial electrical resistance(TEER)was measured using an epithelial voltohmmeter.Results:Confocal microscopy revealed that puerarin-and paeoniflorin-treated tight junction proteins were conspicuous while menthol suppressed their expression.Correspondingly,AOD values of cells treated with puerarin or paeoniflorin,or both showed no difference compared to the control group(P>.05)while the menthol group value was downregulated.In 3 h,TEER of cells not treated with menthol were similar to the control group,while treatment with menthol significantly decreased TEER value(P<.05).In addition,application of menthol decreased TEER in MDCK cells earlier than in MDCK-MDR1 cells.Conclusion:Menthol but not puerarin and paeoniflorin may enhance paracellular transport and improve drug penetration of the BBB by disrupting the structure and,thereby,weakening the barrier function of TJs.Lin Zhang Shouying Du Yang Lu Chang Liu Huichao Wu Bing Yang Jie Bai Pengyue Li 2015Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2015,2,2:4
2Interface structure prediction via CALYPSO method显示文摘The atomistic structures of solid–solid interfaces are of fundamental interests for understanding physical properties of interfacial materials. However, determination of interface structures faces a substantial challenge, both experimentally and theoretically. Here, we propose an efficient method for predicting interface structures via the generalization of our in-house developed CALYPSO method for structure prediction. We devised a lattice match toolkit that allows us to automatically search for the optimal latticematched superlattice for construction of the interface structures. In addition, bonding constraints(e.g.,constraints on interatomic distances and coordination numbers of atoms) are imposed to generate better starting interface structures by taking advantages of the known bonding environment derived from the stable bulk phases. The interface structures evolve by following interfacially confined swarm intelligence algorithm, which is known to be efficient for exploration of potential energy surface. The method was validated by correctly predicting a number of known interface structures with only given information of two parent solids. The application of the developed method leads to prediction of two unknown grain boundary(GB) structures(r-GB and p-GB) of rutile TiO_2 ∑5(2 1 0) under an O reducing atmosphere that contained Ti^(3+)as the result of O defects. Further calculations revealed that the intrinsic band gap of p-GB is reduced to 0.7 eV owing to substantial broadening of the Ti-3 d interfacial levels from Ti^(3+)centers.Our results demonstrated that introduction of grain boundaries is an effective strategy to engineer the electronic properties and thus enhance the visible-light photoactivity of TiO_2.Bo Gao Pengyue Gao Shaohua Lu Jian Lv Yanchao Wang Yanming Ma 2019Science Bulletin2019,64,5:4

4Estimating the Forest Above-ground Biomass Based on Extracted LiDAR Metrics and Predicted Diameter at Breast Height显示文摘Reliable and prompt information on forest above-ground biomass(AGB)and tree diameter at breast height(DBH)are crucial for sustainable forest management.Remote sensing technology,especially the Light Detection and Ranging(LiDAR)technology,has been proven to estimate important tree variables effectively.This study proposes predicting DBH and AGB from tree height and other LiDAR data extracted metrics.In the suggested DBH prediction,we developed a nonlinear estimation equation using the total tree height.As for the AGB prediction approach,we used regression methods such as multiple linear regression(MLR),random forest(RF)and support vector machine for regression(SVR).We conducted the study for the Gudao forest area dominated by Robinia Pseudoacacia trees,located in the Yellow River Delta(YRD),China.For our developed approaches,we used Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)and Backpack LiDAR point cloud datasets obtained in June 2017,and three field data measurements gathered in June 2017 and 2019 and October 2019,all from the same study area.The results demonstrate that:①The LiDAR data individual tree segmentation(ITS)from which we extracted individual tree information like tree location and tree height,was carried out with an overall accuracy F=0.91;②We used the ITS height data from the field stand in 2019 as a fit and developed a nonlinear DBH estimation equation with Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)=3.61 cm,later validated by the 2017 dataset;③Forest AGB at stand level was estimated with the MLR,RF and also SVR regression methods,and results show that the SVR method gave higher accuracy with R2=0.82 compared to the R2=0.72 of RF and the R2=0.70 of the MLR.Calculated AGB at plot level using the 2017 LiDAR data was used to validate both models’accuracy.Combining the UAV LiDAR data and the Backpack LiDAR significantly improved the overall ITS.The UAV LiDAR ability to provide high accuracy tree height abstraction,the DBH of the regression equation and other extracted LiDAR metrics showed high accuracy in estimating the forest AGB.This study shows that being cost-free is not the only advantage of free available software.In the performance of ITS and the LiDAR,metrics extraction proved to be as good as the commercially available software.Petar DONEV Hong WANG Shuhong QIN Pengyu MENG Jinbo LU 2021Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science2021,4,3:2
5Bioelectrochemical acidolysis of magnesia to induce struvite crystallization for recovering phosphorus from aqueous solution显示文摘A novel struvite crystallization method induced by bioelectrochemical acidolysis of magnesia (MgO) was investigated to recover phosphorus (P) from aqueous solution using a dual-chamber microbial electrolysis cell (DMEC).Magnesium ion (Mg2+) in the anolyte was firstly confirmed to automatically migrate from the anode chamber to the cathode chamber,and then react with ammonium (NH4+) and phosphate (PO34-) in the catholyte to form struvite.Recovery efficiency of 17.8%-60.2% was obtained with the various N/P ratios in the catholyte.When MgO (low solubility under alkali conditions) was added into the anolyte,the bioelectrochemical acidolysis of MgO naturally took place and the released Mg2+ induced struvite crystallization in the cathode chamber for P recovery likewise.Besides,there was a strong linear positive correlation between the recovery efficiency and the MgO dosage (R2 =0.935),applied voltage (R2 =0.969) and N/P ratio (R2 =0.905).Increasing the applied voltage was found to enhance the P recovery via promoting the MgO acidolysis and the released Mg2+ migration,while increasing the N/P ratio in the catholyte enhanced the P recovery via promoting the struvite crystallization.Moreover,the electrochemical performance of the system was promoted due to more stable anolyte pH and lower pH gradient between the two chambers.Current density was promoted by 10%,while the COD removal efficiency was improved from 78.2% to 91.8% in the anode chamber.Zuobin Wang Jiao Zhang Xiao Guan Lu She Pengyu Xiang Siqing Xia Zhiqiang Zhang 2019Journal of Environmental Sciences2019,31,11:1

7An ultra-fast charging strategy for lithium-ion battery at low temperature without lithium plating显示文摘Conventional charging methods for lithium-ion battery(LIB)are challenged with vital problems at low temperatures:risk of lithium(Li)plating and low charging speed.This study proposes a fast-charging strategy without Li plating to achieve high-rate charging at low temperatures with bidirectional chargers.The strategy combines the pulsed-heating method and the optimal charging method via precise control of the battery states.A thermo-electric coupled model is developed based on the pseudo-twodimensional(P2D)electrochemical model to derive charging performances.Two current maps of pulsed heating and charging are generated to realize real-time control.Therefore,our proposed strategy achieves a 3 C equivalent rate at 0℃ and 1.5 C at-10℃ without Li plating,which is 10–30 times faster than the traditional methods.The entropy method is employed to balance the charging speed and the energy efficiency,and the charging performance is further enhanced.For practical application,the power limitation of the charger is considered,and a 2.4 C equivalent rate is achieved at 0℃ with a 250 kW maximum power output.This novel strategy significantly expands LIB usage boundary,and increases charging speed and battery safety.Yudi Qin Pengyu Zuo Xiaoru Chen Wenjing Yuan Rong Huang Xiaokan Yang Jiuyu Du Languang Lu Xuebing Han Minggao Ouyang 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,9:1
8Stability of Xuesaitong capsules in gastrointestinal lavage fluid显示文摘Objective:To obtain a formulation with high bioavailability through evaluation of the stability of three types of Xuesaitong capsules in the stomachs and intestines of rats.We compared the stability of the Panax notoginsenoside R1 as well as the ginsenosides Rg1,Rb1,Re,and Rd in different formulations.Methods:Artificial stomach fluid(ASF)and artificial intestinal fluid(AIF)were prepared.Stability of three types of Xuesaitong capsules was examined for 4 h in stomachs and 24 h in intestines.Samples were analyzed at different times by high-performance liquid chromatography.Percent content of NGR1,GRg1,GRb1,GRe,and GRd at different times was calculated.Results:Hard capsules incubated in ASF disintegrated within 2e3 min,whereas soft capsules disintegrated within 7e8 min.Components in hard capsules were dissolved rapidly in water,with content of each compound reaching 90%in 5 min,and degradation of each compound reaching 30e50%after incubation for 240 min.Dissolution and degradation of each component in soft capsules with a water-soluble base tended to balance at 30 e90 min.Contents in soft capsules with a lipid-soluble base showed slow dissolution after ASF incubation for 120 min.Five saponins in identical types of capsules incubated in ASF had similar stability curves.Contents of hard capsules and soft capsules with a watersoluble base degraded rapidly within 30 min and reached a plateau when Xuesaitong capsules were incubated in AIF.Bing Yang Shouying Du Yang Lu Pengyu Li Chang Yang Qing Zhang Zhen Wang Jie Bai Huichao Wu 2016Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2016,3,1:1

11Numerical simulation of cavitating flow around a slender body with slip boundary condition显示文摘In this paper, we perform a numerical simulation of the cavitating flow around an underwater hemispherical-head slender body running at a high speed. For the first time, the slip boundary condition is introduced into this problem, and we find that the slip boundary condition has a big influence on the cavitation in the flow-separation zone. By simulating the cavitating flow under different cavitation numbers, we demonstrate that the slip boundary condition can effectively reduce the intensity of cavitation, as represented by the length of cavitation bubbles. 12Rituximab in Combination with CHOP, an Effective and Well-tolerated Salvage Regimen for Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma显示文摘OBJECTIVE To evaluate the clinical effect of the R-CHOP regimen (rituximab in combination with cyclophosphamide, epirubicin, vincristine and prednisone) in treating refractory or relapsed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), as a salvage therapy for DLBCL. METHODS Eighteen patients with refractory or relapsed DLBCL who were treated with the R-CHOP regimen from 2001 to 2006 in hospitals in Jilin Province were analyzed retrospectively. The response rate, change of serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), time to progression (TTP) and toxicity were observed. RESULTS The R-CHOP regimen can achieve a higher response rate, decrease serum LDH to a larger extent and obtain longer TTP than a con- ventional secondary regimen. The main adverse effects were similar to con- ventional chemotherapy. 16Lrrc34 Is Highly Expressed in SSCs and Is Necessary for SSC Expansi on In Vitro显示文摘Objective To discover critical genes contributing to the sternness and maintenance of spermatogonial stem cells(SSCs)and provide new insights into the function of the leucine-rich repeat(LRR)family member Lrrc34(leudne-rich repeat-containing 34)in SSCs from mice.Methods Bioinformatic methods,including differentially expressed gene(DEG),gene ontology(GO)enrichment and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)pathway analyses,were used to uncover latent pluripotency-related genes.Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)and immunofluorescence analyses were utilized to verify the mRNA and protein expression levels,respectively.RNA interference of Lrrc34 using siRNA was performed to detect its transient impact on SSCs.Results Eight DEGs between ID4-EGFP+(G)and ID4-EGFP+/TSPAN8Hig11(TH),eight DEGs between G and ID4-EGFP+/TSPAN8Uw(TL)and eleven DEGs between TH and TL were discovered,and eleven proteinprotein interaction(PPI)modules were found to be significant in the PPI network of DEGs.One of the DEGs,Lrrc34,was selected as a potential pluripotency?related gene due to its differential expression among ID4-EGFP+spermatogonia subsets and its interaction with fibroblast growth factor 2 in the fifth module.Immunofluorescence experiments exhibited specific expression of Lrrc34 in a subpopulation of undifferentiated spermatogonia marked by LIN28A,and RT-PCR experiments confirmed the high expression of Lrrc34 in SSCs from P7 and adult mice.The transient knockdown of Lrrc34 in SSCs resulted in reduced colony sizes and significant changes in the transcriptome and apoptotic pathways.Conclusion Lrrc34 is highly expressed in mouse SSCs and is required for SSC proliferation in vitro through effects on transcriptome and signaling transduction pathways.Jinhuan Ou Yiran Li Zhipeng Wang Cheng Jin Kai Li Yan Lu Dingfeng Zou Pengyu Li Mengzhen Li Shiying Miao Linfang Wang Wei Song 2020Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2020,35,1:0
