1Chitosan hydrogel incorporated with dental pulp stem cell-derived exosomes alleviates periodontitis in mice via a macrophage-dependent mechanism显示文摘Periodontitis is caused by host immune-inflammatory response to bacterial insult.A high proportion of proinflammatory macrophages to anti-inflammatory macrophages leads to the pathogenesis of periodontitis.As stem cell-derived exosomes can modulate macrophage phenotype,dental pulp stem cell-derived exosomes(DPSC-Exo)can effectively treat periodontitis.In this study,we demonstrated that DPSC-Exo-incorporated chitosan hydrogel(DPSC-Exo/CS)can accelerate the healing of alveolar bone and the periodontal epithelium in mice with periodontitis.Gene Ontology(GO)term enrichment analysis showed that treatment with DPSC-Exo/CS ameliorated periodontal lesion by suppressing periodontal inflammation and modulating the immune response.Specifically,DPSC-Exo/CS facilitated macrophages to convert from a pro-inflammatory phenotype to an anti-inflammatory phenotype in the periodontium of mice with periodontitis,the mechanism of which could be associated with miR-1246 in DPSC-Exo.These results not only shed light on the therapeutic mechanism of DPSCExo/CS but also provide the basis for developing an effective therapeutic approach for periodontitis.Zongshan Shen Shuhong Kuang Yong Zhang Mingmei Yang Wei Qin Xuetao Shi Zhengmei Lin 2020Bioactive Materials2020,5,4:14
2Inhibition of CCL2 by bindarit alleviates diabetes-associated periodontitis by suppressing inflammatory monocyte infiltration and altering macrophage properties显示文摘Diabetes-associated periodontitis(DP)aggravates diabetic complications and increases mortality from diabetes.DP is caused by diabetes-enhanced host immune-inflammatory responses to bacterial insult.In this study,we found that persistently elevated CCL2 levels in combination with proinflammatory monocyte infiltration of periodontal tissues were closely related to DP.Moreover,inhibition of CCL2 by oral administration of bindarit reduced alveolar bone loss and increased periodontal epithelial thickness by suppressing periodontal inflammation.Furthermore,bindarit suppressed the infiltration of proinflammatory monocytes and altered the inflammatory properties of macrophages in the diabetic periodontium.This finding provides a basis for the development of an effective therapeutic approach for treating DP.Zongshan Shen Shuhong Kuang Min Zhang Xin Huang Jiayao Chen Meiliang Guan Wei Qin Hockin H.K.Xu Zhengmei Lin 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,9:6
3Exosomes derived from 3D-cultured MSCs improve therapeutic effects in periodontitis and experimental colitis and restore the Th17 cell/Treg balance in inflamed periodontium显示文摘Although mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes(MSC-exos)have been shown to have therapeutic effects in experimental periodontitis,their drawbacks,such as low yield and limited efficacy,have hampered their clinical application.These drawbacks can be largely reduced by replacing the traditional 2D culture system with a 3D system.However,the potential function of MSC-exos produced by 3D culture(3D-exos)in periodontitis remains elusive.This study showed that compared with MSC-exos generated via 2D culture(2D-exos),3D-exos showed enhanced anti-inflammatory effects in a ligature-induced model of periodontitis by restoring the reactive T helper 17(Th17)cell/Treg balance in inflamed periodontal tissues.Mechanistically,3D-exos exhibited greater enrichment of miR-1246,which can suppress the expression of Nfat5,a key factor that mediates Th17 cell polarization in a sequence-dependent manner.Furthermore,we found that recovery of the Th17 cell/Treg balance in the inflamed periodontium by the local injection of 3D-exos attenuated experimental colitis.Our study not only showed that by restoring the Th17 cell/Treg balance through the miR-1246/Nfat5 axis,the 3D culture system improved the function of MSC-exos in the treatment of periodontitis,but also it provided a basis for treating inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)by restoring immune responses in the inflamed periodontium.Yong Zhang Jiayao Chen Haijun Fu Shuhong Kuang Feng He Min Zhang Zongshan Shen Wei Qin Zhengmei Lin Shuheng Huang 2021International Journal of Oral Science2021,13,4:4
4Numerical predictions and stability analysis of cavitating draft tube vortices at high head in a model Francis turbine显示文摘Draft tube vortex is one of the main causes of hydraulic instability in hydraulic reaction turbines,in particular Francis turbines.A method of cavitation calculations was proposed to predict the pressure fluctuations induced by draft tube vortices in a model Francis turbine,by solving RANS equations with RNG k-turbulence model and ZGB cavitation model,with modified turbulence viscosity.Three cases with different flow rates at high head were studied.In the study case of part load,two modes of revolutions with the same rotating direction,revolution around the axis of the draft tube cone,and revolution around the core of the vortex rope,can be recognized.The elliptical shaped vortex rope causes anisotropic characteristics of pressure fluctuations around the centerline of the draft tube cone.By analyzing the phase angles of the pressure fluctuations,the role of the vortex rope as an exciter in the oscillating case can be recognized.An analysis of Batchelor instability,i.e.instability in q-vortex like flow structure,has been carried out on the draft tube vortices in these three cases.It can be concluded that the trajectory for study case with part load lies in the region of absolute instability(AI),and it lies in the region of convective instability(CI)for study case with design flow rate.Trajectory for study case with over load lies in the AI region at the inlet of the draft tube,and enters CI region near the end of the elbow.ZUO ZhiGang LIU ShuHong LIU DeMin QIN DaQing 2014Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,11:2
5Estimating the Forest Above-ground Biomass Based on Extracted LiDAR Metrics and Predicted Diameter at Breast Height显示文摘Reliable and prompt information on forest above-ground biomass(AGB)and tree diameter at breast height(DBH)are crucial for sustainable forest management.Remote sensing technology,especially the Light Detection and Ranging(LiDAR)technology,has been proven to estimate important tree variables effectively.This study proposes predicting DBH and AGB from tree height and other LiDAR data extracted metrics.In the suggested DBH prediction,we developed a nonlinear estimation equation using the total tree height.As for the AGB prediction approach,we used regression methods such as multiple linear regression(MLR),random forest(RF)and support vector machine for regression(SVR).We conducted the study for the Gudao forest area dominated by Robinia Pseudoacacia trees,located in the Yellow River Delta(YRD),China.For our developed approaches,we used Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)and Backpack LiDAR point cloud datasets obtained in June 2017,and three field data measurements gathered in June 2017 and 2019 and October 2019,all from the same study area.The results demonstrate that:①The LiDAR data individual tree segmentation(ITS)from which we extracted individual tree information like tree location and tree height,was carried out with an overall accuracy F=0.91;②We used the ITS height data from the field stand in 2019 as a fit and developed a nonlinear DBH estimation equation with Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)=3.61 cm,later validated by the 2017 dataset;③Forest AGB at stand level was estimated with the MLR,RF and also SVR regression methods,and results show that the SVR method gave higher accuracy with R2=0.82 compared to the R2=0.72 of RF and the R2=0.70 of the MLR.Calculated AGB at plot level using the 2017 LiDAR data was used to validate both models’accuracy.Combining the UAV LiDAR data and the Backpack LiDAR significantly improved the overall ITS.The UAV LiDAR ability to provide high accuracy tree height abstraction,the DBH of the regression equation and other extracted LiDAR metrics showed high accuracy in estimating the forest AGB.This study shows that being cost-free is not the only advantage of free available software.In the performance of ITS and the LiDAR,metrics extraction proved to be as good as the commercially available software.Petar DONEV Hong WANG Shuhong QIN Pengyu MENG Jinbo LU 2021Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science2021,4,3:2

7Organophosphate esters in water,suspended particulate matter(SPM)and sediments of the Minjiang River,China显示文摘As organic pollutants of emerging concern,organophosphate esters(OPEs)have shown toxicity to organisms after entering the water environment.However,research on OPEs in freshwater in Southwest China is very limited.The levels,distribution and partitioning behavior of OPEs in the Minjiang River and their influencing factors is still unknown.In this study,six OPEs,tri-n-butyl phosphate(Tn BP),tri(2-chloroethyl)-phosphate(TCEP),trichloropropyl phosphate(TCPP),triphenyl phosphate(TPh P),tributoxyethyl phosphate(TBEP),and tris(2-ethylhexyl)-phosphate(TEHP),were determined in surface water,suspended particle matter(SPM)and sediments of the Minjiang River.The results showed that the average concentrations of∑_(6)OPEs in surface water,SPM and sediments of the Minjiang River were 199.32±124.95 ng/L,38463.79±45641.89 ng/g dry weight(dw)and 76.45±28.00 ng/g dw,respectively.High concentrations of OPEs were detected in SPM samples,indicating that more attention should be paid to pollution in SPM.It is worth noting that the variation trend of OPEs in SPM was almost opposite to that in water but basically similar to that in sediment.The proportions of alkyl OPEs in∑_(6)OPEs increased from surface water to SPM and sediments.Alkyl OPEs were the main pollutants in SPM(10.44%–80.88%of∑_(6)OPEs,mean of 54.52%)and sediments(59.08%–81.30%of∑_(6)OPEs,mean of 68.91%),whereas chlorinated OPEs were the most abundant components in surface water(43.16%–75.99%ofδ∑_(6)OPEs,mean of 55.50%).The water-sediment partition coefficient(logKOC)of OPEs was 4.97–7.58,while the water-SPM partition coefficient was 6.71–10.00.No significant correlations were found between log KOW and logKOC.KOW was not the main factor affecting the distribution of OPEs in the Minjiang River,China.Hongling Yin Qin Liu Xu Deng Xiaowen Liu Shuhong Fang Yuanming Xiong Jiaojiao Song 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,9:1

10Health assessment of plantations based on LiDAR canopy spatial structure parameters显示文摘The Yellow River Delta(YRD)has China's largest artificial Robinia pseudoacacia forest,which was planted in the late 1970s and suffered extensive dieback in the 1990s.The health grade of the R.pseudoacacia forest(named canopy vigor grade,CVG)could be achieved by using high-resolution images and canopy vigor indicators(CVIs).However,a previous study showed that there was no significant correlation between CVG and the field-estimated aboveground biomass(AGB)of R.pseudoacacia forest.Therefore,this study aims to construct forest health indicators(FHIs)based on canopy spatial structure parameters extracted from LiDAR.The FHIs included Weibull_α(the scale parameter of the Weibull density function that reflects the shape of the tree canopy),VCI(vertical complexity index),sdCC(the standard deviation of canopy cover),H99(the 99th percentile height)and cvLAD(the coefficient of variation of leaf area density),and could significantly distinguish three forest health grades(FHG)(p<0.05).The FHG was positively correlated with forest AGB(rs=0.51,p=0.004),and the similarity value with CVG was 63.33%.The results of this study confirmed that the FHIs can reflect both canopy vigor and tree productivity,and distinguish forest health status without prior classification information.Pengyu Meng Hong Wang Shuhong Qin Xiuneng Li Zhenglin Song Yicong Wang Yi Yang Jay Gao 2022International Journal of Digital Earth2022,15,1:0
