12018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents显示文摘Syncope belongs to the transient loss of consciousness(TLOC), characterized by a rapid onset, short duration, and spontaneous complete recovery. It is common in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% to 2% of emergency department visits.Recurrent syncope can seriously affect children's physical and mental health, learning ability and quality of life and sometimes cardiac syncope even poses a risk of sudden death. The present guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was developed for guiding a better clinical management of pediatric syncope. Based on the globally recent development and the evidence-based data in China, 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was jointly prepared by the Pediatric Cardiology Society, Chinese Pediatric Society, Chinese Medical Association(CMA)/Committee on Pediatric Syncope, Pediatricians Branch, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Committee on Pediatric Cardiology, Chinese College of Cardiovascular Physicians, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Pediatric Cardiology Society, Beijing Pediatric Society, Beijing Medical Association(BMA). 2Changes in the level of serum liver enzymes after laparoscopic surgery显示文摘AIM: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectof laparoscopic surgery on liver function in humans and thepossible mechanisms behind such effect.METHODS: Blood samples from 286 patients whounderwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) and 40patients who underwent open cholecystectomy (OC) weretested for liver function by measuring the level of serumalanine aminotrasferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotrasferase(AST) before and after the operations. The same tests werealso applied to 18 laparoscopic colorectal cancer resection(LCR) patients and 23 open colorectal cancer resection (OCR)patients to determine whether CO2 pneumoperitoneum couldalter the serum liver enzymes.RESULTS: The level of serum ALT and AST increasedsignificantly during the first 48 hours post operations in bothLC and LCR patients. However, no significant change of theserum liver enzymes was detected in both OC and OCRpatients. As a result, there was statistically significantdifference in change of both ALT and AST levels betweenLC and OC patients and LCR and OCR patients, respectively.By the 7th day post operation, the level of both enzymesreturned to normal values in LC, OC and OCR patients exceptLCR patients whose enzymes remained at a higher level.CONCLUSION: Transient elevation of hepatic transaminasesoccurred after laparoscopic surgery. The major causativefactor seemed to be the CO2 pneumoperitoneum. In mostof the laparoscopic surgery patients, the transient elevationof serum liver enzymes showed no apparent clinicalimplications. 3Bile duct injuries associated with laparoscopic and open cholecystectomy: Sixteen-year experience显示文摘AIM: To summarize the experience in diagnosis, management and prevention of iatrogenic bile duct injury (IBDI). METHODS: A total of 210 patients with bile duct injury occurred during cholecystectomy admitted to Hunan Provincial People’s Hospital from March 1990 to March 2006 were included in this study for retrospective analysis. RESULTS: There were 59.5% (103/173) of patients with IBDI resulting from the wrong identification of the anatomy of the Calot’s triangle during cholecystectomy. The diagnosis of IBDI was made on the basis of clinical features, diagnostic abdominocentesis and imaging findings. Abdominal B ultrasonography (BUS) was the most popular way for IBDI with a diagnostic rate of 84.6% (126/149). Magnetic resonance cholangiography (MRC) could reveal the site of injury, the length of injured bile duct and variation of bile duct tree with a diagnostic rate 100% (45/45). According to the site of injury, IBDI could be divided into six types. The most common type (type 3) occurred in 76.7% (161/210) of the patients and was treated with partial resection of the common hepatic duct and common bile duct. One hundred and seventy-six patients were followed up. The mean follow-up time was 3.7 (range 0.25-10) years. Good results were achieved in 87.5% (154/176) of the patients. CONCLUSION: The key to prevention of IBDI is to follow the 'identifying-cutting-identifying' principle during cholecystectomy. 4Microstructural Evolution and Mechanical Properties of Inconel 625 Alloy during Pulsed Plasma Arc Deposition Process显示文摘Pulsed plasma arc deposition(PPAD),which combines pulsed plasma cladding with rapid prototyping,is a promising technology for manufacturing near net shape components due to its superiority in cost and convenience of processing.In the present research,PPAD was successfully used to fabricate the Ni-based superalloy Inconel 625 components.The microstructures and mechanical properties of deposits were investigated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),optical microscopy(OM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM) with energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS),microhardness and tensile testers.It was found that the as-deposited structure exhibited homogenous columnar dendrite structure,which grew epitaxially along the deposition direction.Moreover,some intermetallic phases such as Laves phase,minor MC(NbC, TiC) carbides and needle-likeδ-Ni_3Nb were observed in y-Ni matrix.Precipitation mechanism and distribution characteristics of these intermetallic phases in the as-deposited 625 alloy sample were analyzed.In order to evaluate the mechanical properties of the deposits,microhardness was measured at various location (including transverse plane and longitudinal plane).The results revealed hardness was in the range of 260—285 HV_(0.2).In particular,microhardness at the interface region between two adjacent deposited layers was slightly higher than that at other regions due to highly refined structure and the disperse distribution of Laves particles.Finally,the influence of precipitation phases and fabrication strategies on the tensile properties of the as-deposited samples was investigated.The failure modes of the tensile specimens were analyzed with fractography.Fujia Xu Yaohui Lv Yuxin Liu Fengyuan Shu Peng He Binshi Xu 2013Journal of Materials Science & Technology2013,29,5:33

7Infection with novel coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2)causes pneumonia in Rhesus macaques显示文摘The 2019 novel coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2)outbreak is a major challenge for public health.SARS-CoV-2 infection in human has a broad clinical spectrum ranging from mild to severe cases,with a mortality rate of^6.4%worldwide(based on World Health Organization daily situation report).However,the dynamics of viral infection,replication and shedding are poorly understood.Here,we show that Rhesus macaques are susceptible to the infection by SARS-CoV-2.After intratracheal inoculation,the first peak of viral RNA was observed in oropharyngeal swabs one day post infection(1 d.p.i.),mainly from the input of the inoculation,while the second peak occurred at 5 d.p.i.,which reflected on-site replication in the respiratory tract.Histopathological observation shows that SARS-CoV-2 infection can cause interstitial pneumonia in animals,characterized by hyperemia and edema,and infiltration of monocytes and lymphocytes in alveoli.We also identified SARS-CoV-2 RNA in respiratory tract tissues,including trachea,bronchus and lung;and viruses were also re-isolated from oropharyngeal swabs,bronchus and lung,respectively.Furthermore,we demonstrated that neutralizing antibodies generated from the primary infection could protect the Rhesus macaques from a second-round challenge by SARS-CoV-2.The non-human primate model that we established here provides a valuable platform to study SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis and to evaluate candidate vaccines and therapeutics.Chao Shan Yan-Feng Yao Xing-Lou Yang Yi-Wu Zhou Ge Gao Yun Peng Lian Yang Xue Hu Jin Xiong Ren-Di Jiang Hua-Jun Zhang Xiao-Xiao Gao Cheng Peng Juan Min Ying Chen Hao-Rui Si Jia Wu Peng Zhou Yan-Yi Wang Hong-Ping Wei Wei Pang Zheng-Fei Hu Long-Bao Lv Yong-Tang Zheng Zheng-Li Shi Zhi-Ming Yuan 2020Cell Research2020,30,8:19

9Formation and control of disinfection byproducts and toxicity during reclaimed water chlorination: A review显示文摘Chlorination is essential to the safety of reclaimed water; however, this process leads to concern regarding the formation of disinfection byproducts(DBPs) and toxicity. This study reviewed the formation and control strategies for DBPs and toxicity in reclaimed water during chlorination.Both regulated and emerging DBPs have been frequently detected in reclaimed water during chlorination at a higher level than those in drinking water, indicating they pose a greater risk to humans. Luminescent bacteria and Daphnia magna acute toxicity, anti-estrogenic activity and cytotoxicity generally increased after chlorination because of the formation of DBPs. Genotoxicity by umu-test and estrogenic activity were decreased after chlorination because of destruction of toxic chemicals. During chlorination, water quality significantly impacted changes in toxicity.Ammonium tended to attenuate toxicity changes by reacting with chlorine to form chloramine,while bromide tended to aggravate toxicity changes by forming hypobromous acid. During pretreatment by ozonation and coagulation, disinfection byproduct formation potential(DBPFP)and toxicity formation potential(TFP) occasionally increase, which is accompanied by DOC removal; thus, the decrease of DOC was limited to indicate the decrease of DBPFP and TFP. It is more important to eliminate the key fraction of precursors such as hydrophobic acid and hydrophilic neutrals. During chlorination, toxicities can increase with the increasing chlorine dose and contact time. To control the excessive toxicity formation, a relatively low chlorine dose and short contact time were required. 10Protective effect of tea polyphenols against paracetamol-induced hepatotoxicity in mice is significanly correlated with cytochrome P450 suppression显示文摘AIM:To investigate the hepatoprotective activity of tea polyphenols(TP)and its relation with cytochrome P450(CYP450)expression in mice. METHODS:Hepatic CYP450 and CYPb5 levels were measured by UV-spectrophotometry in mice 2 d after intraperitoneal TP(25,50 and 100 mg/kg per day). Then the mice were intragastricly pre-treated with TP (100,200 and 400 mg/kg per day)for six days before paracetamol(1000 mg/kg)was given.Their acute mortality was compared with that of control mice. The mice were pre-treated with TP(100,200,and 400 mg/kg per day)for five days before paracetamol (500 mg/kg)was given.Hepatic CYP2E1 and CYP1A2 protein and mRNA expression levels were evaluated by Western blotting,immunohistochemical staining and transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction. 11PEITC triggers multiple forms of cell death by GSH-iron-ROS regulation in K7M2 murine osteosarcoma cells显示文摘Phenethyl isothiocyanate(PEITC)is an isothiocyanate that largely exists in cruciferous vegetables and exhibits chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic potential against various cancers.However,it is little known about the molecular mechanisms of its antitumor action against osteosarcoma,which is the second highest cause of cancer-related death in children and adolescents.In this study,we investigated the effects of PEITC on K7M2murine osteosarcoma both in vitro and in vivo.We found that treatment with PEITC dose-dependently inhibited the viability of K7M2 murine osteosarcoma cells with an lCso value of 33.49μM at 24h.PEITC(1,15,30μM)dose-dependently inhibited the cell proliferation,caused G/M cell cycle arrest,depleted glutathione(GSH)generated reactive oxygen species(ROS),altered iron metabolism,and triggered multiple forms of cell death,namely ferroptosis apoptosis,and autophagy in K7M2 cells.We further revealed that PEITC treatment activated MAPK signaling pathway,and ROS generation was a major cause ofPEITC-induced cell death.In a syngeneic orthotopic osteosarcoma mouse model,administration of PEITC(30,60 mg/kg every day,ig,for 24 days)significantly inhibited the tumor growth,but higher dose of PEITC(90 mg/kg every day)compromised its ant-osteosarcoma effect.Histological examination showed that multiple cell death processes were initiated,iron metabolism was altered and MAPK signaling pathway was activated in the tumor tissues.In conclusion,we demonstrate that PEITC induces ferroptosis,autophagy,and apoptosis in K7M2 osteosarcoma cell by activating the ROS-elated MAPK signaling pathway.PEITC has promising anti-osteosarcoma activity.This study sheds light on,the redox signaling-based chemotherapeutics for cancers.Huan-huan Lv Chen-xiao Zhen Jun-yu Liu Peng Shang 2020Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2020,41,8:12
12Latitudinal variations of CPI values of long-chain n-alkanes in surface soils:Evidence for CPI as a proxy of aridity显示文摘Carbon preference index (CPI) of long-chain n-alkanes preserved in surface soil increases gradually from southeastern China to the north margin of Loess Plateau.Along this latitudinal transect,the CPI value correlates to relative humidity,precipitation,and temperature with a negative linear relationship,respectively,whereas the correlation of CPI to temperature is relatively weak.In the Wuyi,Shennongjia,and Tianshan Mountains,CPI values do not change systemically with altitude increasing (or temperature decreasing).However,mean value of CPI for the individual mountain increases in turn from the humid mountain to the arid.These results jointly suggest that aridity (or humidity) is a dominate climate factor in altering soil CPI value.High CPI values of geological records therefore indicate the arid paleoclimate.Though long-chain n-alkanes in soil are derived mainly from leaf wax of terrestrial vascular plants,the regular latitudinal variations of soil CPI might not be caused by the change of vegetation.We speculate that increased long-chain n-alkanes from microbes and/or enhanced biodegradation in the humid climate lead to the decrease of soil CPI.LUO Pan PENG PingAn LV HouYuan ZHENG Zhuo WANG Xu 2012Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,7:12
13Impact of cigarette smoking on recurrence of hyperlipidemic acute pancreatitis显示文摘AIM To investigate the impact of cigarette smoking on the recurrence rate and recurrence-free survival in patients with hyperlipidemic acute pancreatitis(HLAP).METHODS A total of 863 patients were admitted to our hospital for acute pancreatitis(AP) from January 2013 to March2016, of whom 88 diagnosed with HLAP were enrolled in this retrospective study. Demographic data, medical history, previous episodes of pancreatitis, consumption of alcohol and cigarettes, as well as biochemical and hematological data were carefully recorded for univariate and multivariate analyses. During followup, the information on current smoking status and recurrent AP was gathered. Recurrence-free survival(RFS) was calculated using the Kaplan-Meier method, and the differences between groups were compared using the log-rank test.RESULTS No significant differences were observed between the three groups in age or medical history of hyperlipidemia, fatty liver, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, or AP. The current smokers had a remarkably higher recurrence rate and a greater incidence of repeated episodes of AP(50.0% and 77.8%, respectively) than non-smokers(9.8% and 39.0%), and these two percentages were reduced to 9.1% and 36.4% for patients who gave up smoking. The median follow-up time was 13.5 mo and HLAP recurred after hospital discharge in 23(26.1%) patients. Multivariate analysis identified current smoking(HR = 6.3, P = 0.020) as an independent risk factor contributing to HLAP recurrence. Current smokers had significantly worse RFS than non-smokers(23 mo vs 42 mo), but no significant difference was documented between ex-smokers(34 mo) and non-smokers. The RFS was not significantly different between light and heavy smokers.CONCLUSION Smoking is associated with worse RFS and an increased rate of HLAP recurrence. 14Fast method for spreading sequence estimation of DSSS signal based on maximum likelihood function显示文摘To estimate the spreading sequence of the direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) signal, a fast algorithm based on maximum likelihood function is proposed, and the theoretical derivation of the algorithm is provided. By simplifying the objective function of maximum likelihood estimation, the algorithm can realize sequence synchronization and sequence estimation via adaptive iteration and sliding window. Since it avoids the correlation matrix computation, the algorithm significantly reduces the storage requirement and the computation complexity. 16Simulated-sunlight-activated photocatalysis of Methylene Blue using cerium-doped SiO_2/TiO_2 nanostructured fibers显示文摘Cerium-doped SiO 2 /TiO 2 nanostructured fibers were fabricated by electrospinning technology.The prepared fibers were characterized by thermogravimetric analysis(TGA),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR).Using the fibers as catalysts,photocatalytic degradation of Methylene Blue(MB) aqueous solution was carried out under simulated sunlight.The 0.2% Ce doping proved to be the optimal concentration for the doping of TiO 2 /SiO 2,compared to other Ce-doped molar concentrations.The 0.2% Ce-doped SiO 2 /TiO 2 fibers exhibited higher photocatalytic activity than industrial Degussa P25 and the samples doped with only Ce or SiO 2.The reasons for improving the photocatalytic activity were also discussed.Several operational parameters were studied,which showed that the photocatalytic efficiency of MB was influenced by parameters such as the initial dye concentration,the initial pH,inorganic anions,and so on.In addition,the influences of an electron acceptor and a radical scavenger suggested that OH was the dominant photooxidant during the photocatalytic process.The reuse evaluation of the fibers indicated that their photocatalytic activity had good stability.Yu Liu Hongbing Yu Zhenning Lv Sihui Zhan Jiangyao Yang Xinhong Peng Yixuan Ren Xiaoyan Wu 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,10:10
