1Diagnostic value of cancer-testis antigen mRNA in peripheral blood from hepatocellular carcinoma patients显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the diagnostic value of cancer-testis antigen(CTA) mRNA in peripheral blood samples from hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) patients.METHODS:Peripheral blood samples were taken from 90 patients with HCC before operation.Expression of melanoma antigen-1(MAGE-1),synovial sarcoma X breakpoint-1(SSX-1),and cancer-testis-associated protein of 11 kDa(CTp11) mRNA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMC) was tested by nested reverse transcriptspolymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Serum α-fetoprotein(AFP) in these patients was also determined.RESULTS:The positive rate of MAGE-1,SSX-1 and CTp11 transcripts was 37.7%,34.4%,31.1% in PBMC samples,and 74.4%,73.3%,62.2% in their resected tumor samples,respectively.The positive rate for at least one of the transcripts of three CTA genes was 66.7% in PBMC samples and 91.1% in their resected tumor samples.MAGE-1,SSX-1 and/or CTp11 mRNA were not detected in the PBMC of those patients from whom the resected tumor samples were MAGE-1,SSX-1 and/or CTp11 mRNA negative,nor in the PBMC samples from 20 healthy donors and 10 cirrhotic patients.Among the 90 patients,the serum AFP in 44 patients met the general diagnostic standard(AFP > 400 μg/L) for HCC,and was negative(AFP ≤ 20 μg/L) or positive with a low concentration(20 μg/L < AFP ≤ 400 μg/L) in the other patients.The positive rate for at least one of the transcripts of three CTA genes in PBMC samples from the AFP negative or positive patients with a low concentration was 69.2% and 45.0%,respectively.Of the 90 patients,71(78.9%) were diagnosed as HCC by nested RT-PCR and serum AFP.Although the positive rate for at least one of the transcripts of three CTA genes in PBMC samples from 53 patients at TNM stage or was obviously higher than that in PBMC samples from 37 patients at stage or(77.9% vs 51.4%,P = 0.010),the CTA mRNA was detected in 41.7% and 56.0% of PBMC samples from HCC patients at stages andrespectively.CONCLUSION:Detecting MAGE-1,SSX-1 and CTp11 mRNA in PBMC improves the total diagnostic rate of HCC.Li Zhao Dong-Cheng Mou Zeng-An Wu Ji-Run Peng Lei Huang Xi-Sheng Leng 2010World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,32:22
2Overexpression of cyclooxygenase-2 in human HepG2, Bel-7402 and SMMC-7721 hepatoma cell lines and mechanism of cyclooxygenase-2 selective inhibitor celecoxib-induced cell growth inhibition and apoptosis显示文摘AIM: To investigate the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2)expression level in human HepG2, Bel-7402 and SMMC-7721hepatoma cell lines and the molecular mechanism of COX-2 selective inhibitor celecoxib-induced cell growth inhibition and cell apoptosis.METHODS: Hepatoma cells were cultured and treated with celecoxib. Cell in situ hybridization (ISH) and immunocytochemistry were used to detect COX-2 mRNA and protein expression. Proliferating cell nuclear antigen and phosphorylated Akt were also detected by immunocytochemistry assay. Cell growth rates were assessed by 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium (MTT) bromide colorimetric assay. Celecoxibinduced cell apoptosis was measured by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) and flow cytometry (FCM). The phosphorylated Akt and activated fragments of caspase-9, caspase-3 were examined by Western blotting analysis.RESULTS: Increased COX-2 mRNA and protein expression were detected in all three hepatoma cell lines. Celecoxib could significantly inhibit cell growth and the inhibitory effect was in a dose- and time-dependent manner evidenced by MTr assays and morphological changes.The apoptotic index measured by TUNEL increased correspondingly with the increased concentration of celecoxib and the reaction time. With 50 μmol/L celecoxib treatment for 24 h, the apoptotic index of HepG2, BEL-7402and SMMC-7721 cells was 25.01±3.08%, 26.40±3.05%,and 30.60±2.89%, respectively. Western blotting analysis showed remarkable activation of caspase-9, caspase-3and dephosphorylation of Akt (Thr308). Immunocytochemistry also showed the reduction of PCNA expression and phosphorylation Akt (Thr308) after treatment with celecoxib.CONCLUSION: COX-2 mRNA and protein overexpression in HepG2, Bel-7402 and SMMC-7721 cell lines correlate with the increased cell growth rate. 3Clinical analysis of surgical treatment of portal hypertension显示文摘AIM: To review the experience in surgery for 508 patients with portal hypertension and to explore the selection of reasonable operation under different conditions.METHODS: The data of 508 patients with portal hypertension treated surgically in 1991-2001 in our centers were analyzed. Of the 508 patients, 256 were treated with portaazygous devascularization (PAD),167 with portasystemic shunt (PSS), 62 with selective shunt (SS), 11 with combined portasystemic shunt and portaazygous devascularization (PSS+PAD), 9 with liver transplantation (LT), 3 with union operation for hepatic carcinoma and portal hypertension (HCC+PH).RESULTS: In the 167 patients treated with PSS, free portal pressure (FPP) was significantly higher in the patients with a longer diameter of the anastomotic stoma than in those with a shorter diameter before the operation (P<0.01). After the operation, FPP in the former patients markedly decreased compared to the latter ones (P<0.01).The incidence rate of hemorrhage in patients treated with PAD, PSS, SS, PSS+PAD, and HCC+PH was 21.09% (54/256), 13.77 (23/167), 11.29 (7/62), 36.36% (4/11),and 100% (3/3), respectively. The incidence rate of hepatic encephalopathy was 3.91% (10/256), 9.58% (16/167),4.84% (3/62), 9.09% (1/11), and 100% (3/3), respectively while the operative mortality was 5.49% (15/256), 4.22% (7/167), 4.84% (3/62), 9.09% (1/11), and 66.67% (2/3) respectively. The operative mortality of liver transplantation was 22.22% (2/9).CONCLUSION: Five kinds of operation in surgical treatment of portal hypertension have their advantages and disadvantages. 4Association of biochar properties with changes in soil bacterial,fungal and fauna communities and nutrient cycling processes显示文摘Soil microorganisms play crucial roles in soil nutrient cycling,carbon sequestration,fertility maintenance and crop health and production.To date,the responses of microorganisms,such as microbial activity,diversity,community structure and nutrient cycling processes,to biochar addition have been widely reported.However,the relationships between soil microbial groups(bacteria,fungi and microscopic fauna)and biochar physicochemical properties have not been summarized.In this review,we conclude that biochar affects soil microbial growth,diversity and community compositions by directly provid-ing growth promoters for soil biota or indirectly changing soil basic properties.The porous structure,labile C,high pH and electrochemical properties of biochar play an important role in determining soil microbial abundance and communities,and their mediated N and P cycling processes,while the effects and underlying mechanisms vary with biochar types that are affected by pyrolysis temperature and feedstock type.Finally,we highlight some issues related to research methodology and subjects that are still poorly understood or controversial,and the perspectives for further research in microbial responses to biochar addition.Zhongmin Dai Xinquan Xiong Hang Zhu Haojie Xu Peng Leng Jihui Li CTang Jianming Xu 2021Biochar2021,3,3:12
5Diagnostic value of elevated serum carbohydrate antigen 199 level in acute cholangitis secondary to choledocholithiasis显示文摘AIM To investigate the diagnostic value of abnormal serum carbohydrate antigen 199(CA199) level in acute cholangitis secondary to choledocholithiasis.METHODS In this retrospective cohort study, the clinical data of 727 patients with choledocholithiasis admitted to the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical College from June 2011 to June 2017 were collected. Among these patients, 258 patients had secondary acute cholangitis and served as observation group, and the remaining 569 choledocholithiasis patients served as the control group. Serum liver function indexes and tumor markers were detected in both groups, and the receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves were constructed for markers showing statistical significances. The cutoff value, sensitivity, and specificity of each marker were calculated according to the ROC curves. RESULTS The results of liver function tests showed no significant differences between the two groups(P > 0.05). Tumor markers including serum CA125, CA153, carcinoembryonic antigen, and alpha fetoprotein levels were also not significantly different(P > 0.05); however, the serum CA199 level was significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group(P < 0.05). The ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve was 0.885(95%CI: 0.841-0.929) for CA199, and the cutoff value of 52.5 kU/L had the highest diagnostic accuracy, with a sensitivity of 86.8% and a specificity of 81.6%.CONCLUSION Abnormally elevated serum CA199 level has an important value in the diagnosis of acute cholangitis secondary to choledocholithiasis. 6Combination of serum gamma-glutamyltransferase and alkaline phosphatase in predicting the diagnosis of asymptomatic choledocholithiasis secondary to cholecystolithiasis显示文摘BACKGROUND Gamma-glutamyltransferase(GGT) is one of the most important laboratory tests for the evaluation of liver damage. Through a long-term clinical observation of patients with secondary asymptomatic choledocholithiasis, we found that most patients had abnormal GGT serum levels.AIM To investigate the combination of serum GGT and alkaline phosphatase(ALP) in predicting the diagnosis of asymptomatic choledocholithiasis secondary to cholecystolithiasis.METHODS In this retrospective cohort study, the clinical data of 829 patients with cholecystolithiasis admitted to the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical College from August 2014 to August 2017 were collected. Among these patients,151 patients had secondary asymptomatic choledocholithiasis and served as the observation group, and the remaining 678 cholecystolithiasis patients served as the control group. Serum liver function indexes were detected in both groups,and the receiver operating characteristic(commonly known as ROC) curves were constructed for markers showing statistical significances. The cutoff value,sensitivity, and specificity of each marker were calculated according to the ROC curves.RESULTS The overall incidence of asymptomatic choledocholithiasis secondary to cholecystolithiasis was 18.2%. The results of liver function indexes including serum aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, direct bilirubin and total bilirubin levels showed no significant differences between the two groups(P> 0.05). However, the serum GGT and ALP levels were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group(P < 0.05). The ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve was 0.881(95%CI: 0.830-0.932), 0.647(95%CI: 0.583-0.711) and 0.923(0.892-0.953) for GGT, ALP, and GGT + ALP,respectively. The corresponding cut-off values of GGT and ALP were 95.5 U/L and 151.5 U/L, sensitivity were 90.8% and 65.1%, and specificity were 83.6% and59.8%, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of GGT + ALP were 93.5% and85.1%, respectively.CONCLUSION An abnormally elevated serum GGT level has an important value in the diagnosis of asymptomatic choledocholithiasis secondary to cholecystolithiasis.The combination of serum GGT and ALP has better diagnostic performance. 8World’s first spaceflight on-orbit demonstration of a flexible solar array system based on shape memory polymer composites显示文摘With a 10%reversible compressive strain in more than 10 deformation cycles,the shape memory polymer composites(SMPCs)could be used for deployable structure and releasing mechanism.In this paper,without traditional electro-explosive devices or motors/controllers,the deployable SMPC flexible solar array system(SMPC-FSAS)is studied,developed,ground-based tested,and finally on-orbit validated.The epoxy-based SMPC is used for the rolling-out variable-stiffness beams as a structural frame as well as an actuator for the flexible blanket solar array.The releasing mechanism is primarily made of the cyanate-based SMPC,which has a high locking stiffness to withstand 50 g gravitational acceleration and a large unlocking displacement of 10 mm.The systematical mechanical and thermal qualification tests of the SMPC-FSAS flight hardware were performed,including sinusoidal sweeping vibration,shocking,acceleration,thermal equilibrium,thermal vacuum cycling,and thermal cycling test.The locking function of the SMPC releasing mechanisms was in normal when launching aboard the SJ20 Geostationary Satellite on 27 Dec.,2019.The SMPC-FSAS flight hardware successfully unlocked and deployed on 5 Jan.,2020 on geostationary orbit.The triggering signal of limit switches returned to ground at the 139 s upon heating,which indicated the successful unlocking function of SMPC releasing mechanisms.A pair of epoxy-based SMPC rolled variable-stiffness tubes,which clapped the flexible blanket solar array,slowly deployed and finally approached an approximate 100%shape recovery ratio within 60 s upon heating.The study and on-orbit successful validation of the SMPC-FSAS flight hardware could accelerate the related study and associated productions to be used for the next-generation releasing mechanisms as well as space deployable structures,such as new releasing mechanisms with low-shocking,testability and reusability,and ultra-large space deployable solar arrays.LAN Xin LIU LiWu ZHANG FengHua LIU ZhengXian WANG LinLin LI QiFeng PENG Fan HAO SiDa DAI WenXu WAN Xue TANG Yong WANG Mian HAO YanYan YANG Yang YANG Cheng LIU YanJu LENG JinSong 2020Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,8:7
9Effects of 5-hydroxytamine and its antagonists on hepatic stellate cells显示文摘BACKGROUND: Hepatic stellate cell (HSC) plays a key role in hepatic fibrosis. This study was undertaken to investigate the expression of 5-hydroxytamine receptors in HSC and the effect of 5-hydroxytamine on biological characteristics of HSC. METHODS: Liver ex vivo perfusion of collagenase and density gradient centrifugation were used to isolate HSCs. Reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to detect the expression of 5-hydroxytamine receptor subtypes 1A, 2A, 2B and 3. Western blot hybridization was used to elucidate the effect of 5-hydroxytamine and its 2A receptor antagonist ketanserin and 3 receptor antagonist ondanosetron on the expression of transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1) and Smad4 in HSC. RESULTS: HSC expressed 5-hydroxytamine receptor subtypes 1A, 2A and 2B. 5-hydroxytamine significantly increased the expression of TGF-β1, and Smad4 in HSC (P<0.05). This action can be antagonized by ketanserin, not by ondanosetron. 10Effect of ligand of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ on the biological characters of hepatic stellate cells显示文摘AIM: To study the effect of rosiglitazone, which is a ligand of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ), on the expression of PPARγ in hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and on the biological characteristics of HSCs.METHODS: The activated HSCs were divided into three groups: control group, 3 μmol/L rosiglitazone group, and 10 μmol/L rosiglitazone group. The expression of PPARγ,α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), and type Ⅰ and Ⅲ collagen was detected by RT-PCR, Western blot and immunocytochemical staining, respectively. Cell proliferation was determined with methylthiazolyltetrazolium (MTT) colorimetric assay. Cell apoptosis was demonstrated with flow cytometry.RESULTS: The expression of PPARγ at mRNA and protein level markedly increased in HSCs of 10 μmol/L rosiglitazone group (tvalue was 10.870 and 4.627 respectively, P<0.01in both). The proliferation of HSCs in 10 μmol/L rosiglitazone group decreased significantly (t = 5.542, P<0.01), α-SMA expression level and type Ⅰ collagen synthesis ability were also reduced vs controls (tvalue= 10.256 and 14.627respectively, P<0.01 in both). 11Retrospective analysis of interventional treatment of hepatic metastasis from gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors显示文摘Objective: To analyze the angiography appearance of liver metastases from gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors(GEP-NETs),and evaluate the clinical efficacy and prognostic factors of interventional treatment for hepatic metastases.Methods: Fifty GEP-NETs patients with hepatic metastases were treated from January 2012 to December 2016,and received transarterial embolization(TAE) in the hepatic tumor or hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy(HAIC).All patients received 179 times of the intervention therapy in total.Results: Blood supplies were identified in the 50 cases with angiography,which showed that 35 cases had abundant vessels,while 15 cases had poor blood supply.Twenty-two cases were found either collateral blood supply,or portal vein invasion or arterial-portal vein fistula.The best curative efficacy was complete remission(CR)in 4 cases,partial remission(PR) in 28 cases and stable disease(SD) in 18 cases during the process of treatment.The angiography(P=0.047) and the frequency of intervention(P=0.037) showed significantly statistical difference with Kaplan-Meier analysis.The Cox analysis showed that more than 3 times of interventional therapy was an independent prognostic factor.Conclusions: Interventional treatment is safe and effective for GEP-NETs,and is beneficial to patients with main hepatic metastases after endocrine therapy.Peng Liu Xu Zhu Jie Li Ming Lu Jiahua Leng Ying Li Jiangyuan Yu 2017Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2017,29,6:4
12Glucocorticoid receptor modulates myeloid-derived suppressor cell function via mitochondrial metabolism in immune thrombocytopenia显示文摘Myeloid-derived suppressor cells(MDSCs)are a heterogeneous population of immature cells and natural inhibitors of adaptive immunity.Intracellular metabolic changes in MDSCs exert a direct immunological influence on their suppressive activity.Our previous study demonstrated that high-dose dexamethasone(HD-DXM)corrected the functional impairment of MDSCs in immune thrombocytopenia(ITP);however,the MDSC population was not restored in nonresponders,and the mechanism remained unclear.In this study,altered mitochondrial physiology and reduced mitochondrial gene transcription were detected in MDSCs from HD-DXM nonresponders,accompanied by decreased levels of carnitine palmitoyltransferase-1(CPT-1),a rate-limiting enzyme in fatty acid oxidation(FAO).Blockade of FAO with a CPT-1 inhibitor abolished the immunosuppressive function of MDSCs in HD-DXM responders.We also report that MDSCs from ITP patients had lower expression of the glucocorticoid receptor(GR),which can translocate into mitochondria to regulate the transcription of mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA)as well as the level of oxidative phosphorylation.It was confirmed that the expression of CPT-1 and mtDNA-encoded genes was downregulated in GR-siRNA-treated murine MDSCs.Finally,by establishing murine models of active and passive ITP via adoptive transfer of DXM-modulated MDSCs,we confirmed that GR-silenced MDSCs failed to alleviate thrombocytopenia in mice with ITP.In conclusion,our study indicated that impaired aerobic metabolism in MDSCs participates in the pathogenesis of glucocorticoid resistance in ITP and that intact control of MDSC metabolism by GR contributes to the homeostatic regulation of immunosuppressive cell function.Yu Hou Jie Xie Shuwen Wang Daqi Li Lingjun Wang Haoyi Wang Xiaofei Ni Shaoqiu Leng Guosheng Li Ming Hou Jun Peng 2022Cellular & Molecular Immunology2022,19,7:4
13Femtosecond mid-IR optical vortex laser based on optical parametric chirped pulse amplification显示文摘A femtosecond mid-infrared optical vortex laser can be used for high harmonic generation to extend cutoff energy to the kilo-electron-volt range with orbital angular momentum,as well as other secondary radiations.For these,we demonstrate a high-energy femtosecond 4μm optical vortex laser based on optical parametric chirped pulse amplification(OPCPA)for the first time.The optical vortex seed is generated from a femtosecond 4μm laser by a silicon spiral phase plate with the topological charge l of 1 before the stretcher.Through using a two-stage collinear OPCPA amplifier,the chirped vortex pulse is amplified to 12.4 m J with 200 nm full width at half-maximum bandwidth.After compression,the vortex laser pulse with 9.53 m J,119 fs can be obtained.Furthermore,the vortex characteristics of the laser beam are investigated and evaluated.This demonstration can scale to generate a higher-peak-power vortex mid-IR laser and pave a new way for high field physics.JUNYU QIAN YUJIE PENG YANYAN LI PENGFEI WANG BEIJIE SHAO ZHE LIU YUXIN LENG RUXIN LI 2020Photonics Research2020,8,3:4

16Ophthalmology simulation for undergraduate and postgraduate clinical education显示文摘This is a review education paper on the current ophthalmology simulators utilized worldwide for undergraduate and postgraduate training. At present,various simulators such as the EYE Exam Simulator(Kyoto Kagaku Co. Ltd., Kyoto, Japan), Eyesi direct ophthalmoscope simulator(VRmagic, Gmb H, Mannheim,Germany), Eyesi indirect ophthalmoscope simulator(VRmagic, Gmb H, Mannheim, Germany) and Eyesi cataract simulators(VRmagic, Gmb H, Mannheim,Germany). These simulators are thought to be able to reduce the initial learning curve for the ophthalmology training but further research will need to be conducted to assess the effectiveness of the simulation-assisted ophthalmology training. 18Efficacy of Rebixiao Chinese herbal tablets and Chinese formula granules in acute gout arthritis patients:a randomized,multicenter,double-blind,controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of Rebixiao(RBX)Chinese herbal tablets(CHT)and Chinese formula granules(CFG)in the treatment of acute gout arthritis(AGA).METHODS:This randomized,multicenter,double-blind,controlled trial included 165 AGA patients with the damp-heat symptom pattern who were randomly divided into an RBX CHT group and an RBX CFG group and treated for 7 d at three centers.The total effective rates of the joint symptom score,Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)symptoms score,erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),and C-reactive protein(CRP)were used to evaluate the clinical efficacy.Safety assessments were also performed.RESULTS:Of the 165 enrolled patients,147 completed the clinical observation.There was no difference in baseline between the two groups.The total effective rates of the joint symptom score were 94.36%and 97.36%,and the total effective rates of the TCM symptoms score were 95.77%and 97.36%in the CFG group and CHT group,respectively.No statistical difference was found between the two groups(P>0.05).Additionally,ESR and CRP were similar in both groups(P>0.05).Furthermore,treatment efficacy regarding TCM and joint symptoms,the ESR,and CRP were consistent within each center and among the different centers(P>0.05).In addition,the incidence of adverse events was 4.22%and 2.63%in the CFG group and CHT group,respectively,and no difference was observed between the two groups(P>0.05).CONCLUSION:RBX CFG and CHT have significant and similar efficacy in the treatment of AGA,and CFG did not increase adverse side effects.Wang Shasha Zhang Ying Dai Min Yang Min Leng Wenfei Peng Xiufeng Li Guojun Yang Jinbing Gan Jianping Zhu Fenglin Li Yanping Wu Bin 2020Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,4:3
19High-repetition-rate, high-peak-power 1450 nm laser source based on optical parametric chirped pulse amplification显示文摘We present a high-peak-power,near-infrared laser system based on optical parametric chirped pulse amplification pumped by a home-built picosecond pumping laser,which can generate over 40 mJ energy at 1450 nm center wavelength and operate at 100 Hz repetition rate.Subsequently,the chirped laser pulses are compressed down to 60 fs with 26.5 mJ energy,corresponding to a peak power of 0.44 TW. 20Hierarchical Micropore/Nanorod Apatite Hybrids In-Situ Grown from 3-D Printed Macroporous Ti6Al4V Implants with Improved Bioactivity and Osseointegration显示文摘The advent of three-dimensional(3-D) printed technique provides great possibility in the fabrication of customized porous titanium(Ti) implant. However, the bioinert property of the printed Ti poses an outstanding problem. Hybrid micro-arc oxidation and hydrothermal(MAO–HT) treatment on porous metals is able to produce multi-scaled hierarchical orthopedic implant, showing great potential for surface modification of 3-D printed implant. In this study, cylindrical porous Ti6Al4V(Ti64) scaffolds with pore size of 640 μm, porosity of 73% were 3-D printed by electron beam melting process, and their surfaces were left untreated or treated by a combined MAO–HT procedure. In vitro bioactivity was tested by immersion in simulated body fluid for different time points. Then, 12 scaffolds in each group were implanted into the femoral condyles of New Zealand rabbit for 8 weeks. Osseointegration was evaluated by qualitative and quantitative histological analysis, and the bone ingrowth features were probed by sequential fluorescent labeling at 3 and 6 weeks post-surgery. Following the MAO–HT treatment, the porous Ti64 scaffold was endowed with multi-scaled micro/nano-topographies and high amounts of Ca P on its surface.The treated scaffold exhibited drastically enhanced apatite forming ability compared with the untreated one. In vivo test revealed significantly that a higher amount of bone ingrowth and bone implant contact at the treated scaffold. The 2 types of scaffolds had different patterns of bone ingrowth: the treated scaffold exhibited a pattern of contact osteogenesis, by which bone formed directly on the treated implant surface, whereas bone formed distal to the implant surface of the untreated scaffold.
