| 1 | Mirizzi syndrome type Ⅴa:A rare coexistence of double cholecysto-biliary and cholecysto-enteric fistulae显示文摘Mirizzi syndrome is a rare cause of intermittent obstructive jaundice,where an impacted stone in the cystic duct or Hartmann's pouch mechanically obstructs the common bile duct(CBD) .We report a rare case of double cholecysto-biliary and cholecysto-enteric fistulae,in a 75-year-old female patient,presenting with a right upper quadrant abdominal pain and intermittent obstructive jaundice.Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography suggested Mirizzi syndrome.Operative findings included erosions of the lateral wall of the CBD and the second portion of the duodenum due to impacted gallstones.The defects were reconstructed primarily and a Kehr tube was inserted.The patient had an uneventful postoperative course and was discharged on the 14th postoperative day. | Pavlos Lampropoulos Nikolaos Paschalidis Athanasios Marinis Spiros Rizos | 2010 | World Journal of Radiology2010，2，10： | 10 |

| 4 | Effect of CeO_2 and Al_2O_3 on the activity of Pd/Co_3O_4/cordierite catalyst in the three-way catalysis reactions(CO/NO/C_nH_m)显示文摘The present article studies the effect of CeO2 and Al2O3 on the activity of Pd/Co3O4/cordierite catalyst in conversion of NO, CO, CnHm. The catalysts were characterized by temperature programmed reduction with hydrogen, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. It is shown that the effect of CeO2 on the properties of Pd/Co3O4/cordierite catalyst depends on preparation method. The catalyst obtained by co-deposition of cerium and cobalt oxides has higher activity in CO oxidation (CO + O2 and CO + NO) and total hexane oxidation (C6H14 + O2). Such phenomenon is probably caused by more than stoichiometric amount of formed oxygen vacancies, an increase in both mobility of surface oxygen and dispersity of components in the catalytic composition. It is demonstrated that CeO2 addition promotes the SO2 resistance of Pd/Co3O4/cordierite. | 6 | Synaptic dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease:the effects of amyloid beta on synaptic vesicle dynamics as a novel target for therapeutic intervention显示文摘The most prevalent form of dementia in the elderly is Alzheimer's disease.A significant contributing factor to the progression of the disease appears to be the progressive accumulation of amyloid-β42(Aβ42),a small hydrophobic peptide.Unfortunately,attempts to develop therapies targeting the accumulation of Aβ42 have not been successful to treat or even slow down the disease.It is possible that this failure is an indication that targeting downstream effects rather than the accumulation of the peptide itself might be a more effective approach.The accumulation of Aβ42 seems to affect various aspects of physiological cell functions.In this review,we provide an overview of the evidence that implicates Aβ42 in synaptic dysfunction,with a focus on how it contributes to defects in synaptic vesicle dynamics and neurotransmitter release.We discuss data that provide new insights on the Aβ42 induced pathology of Alzheimer's disease and a more detailed understanding of its contribution to the synaptic deficiencies that are associated with the early stages of the disease.Although the precise mechanisms that trigger synaptic dysfunction are still under investigation,the available data so far has enabled us to put forward a model that could be used as a guide to generate new therapeutic targets for pharmaceutical intervention. | Jade Marsh Pavlos Alifragis | 2018 | Neural Regeneration Research2018，13，4： | 4 |
| 7 | Abscesses of the spleen:Report of three cases显示文摘Abscess of the spleen is a rare discovery, with about 600 cases in the international literature so far. Although it may have various causes, it is most usually associated with trauma and infections of the spleen. The latter are more common in the presence of a different primary site of infection, especially endocarditis or in cases of ischemic infarcts that are secondarily infected. Moreover, immunosuppression is a major risk factor. Clinical examination usually reveals a combination of fever, left-upper-quadrant abdominal pain and vomiting. Laboratory findings are not constant. Imaging is a necessary tool for establishing the diagnosis, with a choice between ultrasound and computed tomography. Treatment includes conservative measures, and surgical intervention. In children and in cases of solitary abscesses with a thick wall, percutaneous catheter drainage may be attempted. Otherwise, splenectomy is the preferred approach in most centers. Here, we present three cases of splenic abscess. In all three, splenectomy was performed, followed by rapid clinical improvement. | 9 | Metal alginates for polyphenol delivery systems: Studies on crosslinking ions and easy-to-use patches for release of protective flavonoids in skin显示文摘Incorporation of bioactive natural compounds like polyphenols is an attractive approach for enhanced functionalities of biomaterials.In particular flavonoids have important pharmacological activities,and controlled release systems may be instrumental to realize the full potential of these phytochemicals.Alginate presents interesting attributes for dermal and other biomaterial applications,and studies were carried here to support the development of polyphenol-loaded alginate systems.Studies of capillary viscosity indicated that ionic medium is an effective strategy to modulate the polyelectrolyte effect and viscosity properties of alginates.On gelation,considerable differences were observed between alginate gels produced with Ca^2+,Ba^2+,Cu^2+,Fe^2+,Fe^3+and Zn^2+as crosslinkers,especially concerning shrinkage and morphological regularity.Stability assays with different polyphenols in the presence of alginate-gelling cations pointed to the choice of calcium,barium and zinc as safer crosslinkers.Alginate-based films loaded with epicatechin were prepared and the kinetics of release of the flavonoid investigated.The results with calcium,barium and zinc alginate matrices indicated that the release dynamics is dependent on film thicknesses,but also on the crosslinking metal used.On these grounds,an alginate-based system of convenient use was devised,so that flavonoids can be easily loaded at simple point-of-care conditions before dermal application.This epicatechin-loaded patch was tested on an ex-vivo skin model and demonstrated capacity to deliver therapeutically relevant concentrations on skin surface.Moreover,the flavonoid released was not modified and retained full antioxidant bioactivity.The alginate-based system proposed offers a multifunctional approach for flavonoid controllable delivery and protection of skin injured or under risk. | João Silva Pavlo Vanat Dorinda Marques-da-Silva Joaquim Rui Rodrigues Ricardo Lagoa | 2020 | Bioactive Materials2020，5，3： | 2 |
