| 2 | Epidemiological trends and geographic variation in hospital admissions for diverticulitis in the United States显示文摘AIM:To characterize the increasing incidence and geographic variation of acute diverticulitis.METHODS:Using the nationwide inpatient sample (NIS) we identified a cohort who had been admitted with diverticulitis between 1998 and 2005.We calculated age-,sex-,and region-specific rates of hospitalizations for diverticulitis over time.RESULTS:The age-adjusted hospitalization rate for diverticulitis increased from 61.8 per 100000 to 75.5 per 100 000 between 1998 and 2005,and increased similarly in both sexes.Diverticulitis-associated admissions were male-predominant in those younger than age 45 years but were female-predominant thereafter.Admission rates increased the most among those<45 years,while remaining unchanged for those≥65 years.By 2005,the majority of hospitalized patients were<65 years.Age-adjusted rates of diverticulitis-associated hospitalizations were lower in the West(50.4/100000) compared to the Northeast(77.7/100000),South (73.9/100000),and Midwest(71.0/100000).CONCLUSION:Diverticulitis-associated hospitalizations have steeply risen,especially in young adults.These epidemiological trends vary by geographic region and warrant further investigation into potential dietary and environmental etiologies. | Geoffrey C Nguyen Justina Sam Nitasha Anand | 2011 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2011，17，12： | 1 |
| 3 | Short-duration transient visual evoked potentials and color reflectivity discretization analysis in glaucoma patients and suspects显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the use of short-duration transient visual evoked potentials(VEP) and color reflectivity discretization analysis(CORDA) in glaucomatous eyes,eyes suspected of having glaucoma,and healthy eyes.METHODS: The study included 136 eyes from 136 subjects: 49 eyes with glaucoma,45 glaucoma suspect eyes,and 42 healthy eyes.Subjects underwent Humphrey visual field(VF) testing,VEP testing,as well as peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer optical coherence tomography imaging studies with post-acquisition CORDA applied.Statistical analysis was performed using means and ranges,ANOVA,post-hoc comparisons using Turkey's adjustment,Fisher's Exact test,area under the curve,and Spearman correlation coefficients.RESULTS: Parameters from VEP and CORDA correlated significantly with VF mean deviation(MD)(P<0.05).In distinguishing glaucomatous eyes from controls,VEP demonstrated area under the curve(AUC) values of 0.64-0.75 for amplitude and 0.67-0.81 for latency.The CORDA HR1 parameter was highly discriminative for glaucomatous eyes vs controls(AUC=0.94).CONCLUSION: Significant correlations are found between MD and parameters of short-duration transient VEP and CORDA,diagnostic modalities which warrant further consideration in identifying glaucoma characteristics. | Michael Waisbourd Rebekah H.Gensure Ardalan Aminlari Sonya B.Shah Nitasha Khanna Neil Sood Jeanne Molineaux Alberto Gonzalez Jonathan S.Myers L.Jay Katz | 2017 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2017，10，2： | 1 |
