| 1 | Loss of fragile histidine triad protein in human hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM: To investigate the expression of fragile histidine triad (FHIT) gene protein, Fhit, which is recently thought to be a candidate tumor suppressor. Abnormal expression of fragile histidine triad has been found in a variety of human cancers,but little is known about its expression in human hepatocellular carcinogenesis and evolution.METHODS: Sections of 83 primary human hepatocellular carcionoma with corresponding para-neoplastic liver tissue and 10 normal liver tissue were evaluated immunohistochemically for Fhit protein expression.RESULTS: All normal liver tissue and para-neoplastic liver tissue showed a strong expression of Fhit, whereas 50 of 83(65.0 %) carcinomas showed a marked loss or absence of Fhit expression. The differences of Fhit expression between carcinoma and normal or para-neoplastic liver tissue werehighly significant (P=0.000). The proportion of carcinomas with reduced Fhit expression showed an increasing trend (a) with decreasing differentiation or higher histological grade (P=0.219); (b) in tumors with higher clinical stage Ⅲ and ⅣV (91.3 %, P=0.000), compared with tumors with lower stage Ⅰ and Ⅱ (27.6 %); and (c) in cancers with bigger tumor size (>50 mm) (75.0 %, P=0.017), compared withsmaller tumor size (≤ 50 mm).

| 2 | Radiofrequency ablation for hepatic hemangiomas: A consensus from a Chinese panel of experts显示文摘Recent studies have shown that radiofrequency(RF) ablation therapy is a safe, feasible, and effective procedure for hepatic hemangiomas, even huge hepatic hemangiomas. RF ablation has the following advantages in the treatment of hepatic hemangiomas: minimal invasiveness, definite efficacy, high safety, fast recovery, relatively simple operation, and wide applicability. | 4 | Supraclavicular lymph node metastases from malignant gastrointestinal stromal tumor of the jejunum: A case report with review of the literature显示文摘Gastrointestinal stromal tumors(GISTs) represent the most common mesenchymal tumors of the alimentary tract. These tumors may have different clinical and biological behaviors. Malignant forms usually spread via a hematogenous route, and lymph node metastases rarely occur. Herein, we report a patient with a jejunal GIST who developed supraclavicular lymph node metastasis. | 5 | AFB1 Bio-Degradation by a New Strain - Stenotrophomonas. sp显示文摘The paper was to find the bacteria to degrade aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) and realize the application of biological degradation on AFB1. Using cumarin as the carbon source and energy on the first screening, then the ten strains which were first screened out were taken to degrade AFB1 100 μg kg-1. Strain NMO-3 was screened out of ten strains, the degradation ratio of AFB1 reached 85.7%, which was more prominent than the others (P < 0.01). With the analysis of colony morphology, physiological and biochemistry experiments, and 16S rDNA gene sequence, the strain NMO-3 was finally identified as Stenotrophomonas sp. Using cumarin as the carbon source and energy could screen out the AFB1 degradation strains. Acute toxicity tests show that the viable number of NMO-3 lower than 3.12 × 1010 cfu mL-1 is safety. The crude enzyme was obtained by 65% ammonium sulfate fractionation, and it could degrade AFB1.
