| 1 | 绿豆象在不同豆类上的生长发育及产卵选择性研究显示文摘在室内25℃恒温条件下,饲养观察了绿豆象[Callosobruchus chinensis(Linn.)]对不同豆种的产卵选择性、产卵量、卵的孵化率、幼虫和成虫的生长发育历期。结果表明,供试的17种豆粒上绿豆象的着卵率均达80%以上,且不同豆种粒上产卵量差异显著(P<0.01),卵在不同豆种上的孵化率间也存在显著差异(P<0.05),卵孵化后,幼虫仅在蚕豆、绿豆、红皮豇豆、豌豆、黑豆、红小豆、大豆上可蛀入危害,蛀孔数分别为3.00±0.25,2.00±0.18,3.50±0.09,2.50±0.21,4.50±0.10,2.00±0.22,2.50±0.17蛀孔/豆,差异显著(P<0.05)。在蚕豆、绿豆、红小豆、红皮豇豆、黑豆、大豆粒上的世代存活率分别为(0.63±0.12)%,(54.84±0.09)%,(44.40±0.08)%,(46.33±0.11)%,(66.88±0.10)%,(45.71±0.11)%,(21.59±0.21)%;雌虫的产卵期分别为(4.24±1.58)d,(5.10±0.22)d,(5.40±0.26)d,(5.21±1.25)d,(5.30±0.38)d,(4.63±0.41)d和(4.30±0.80)d,差异不显著(P>0.05),卵历期分别为(5.01±0.15)d,(4.30±0.05)d,(4.10±0.08)d,(5.10±0.18)d,(4.30±0.07)d,(4.20±0.14)d及(4.51±0.16)d,差异不显著(P>0.05);幼虫的平均历期分别为(33.40±4.85)d,(31.60±1.78)d,(28.22±3.56)d,(30.91±2.49)d,(27.30±1.98)d,(29.50±1.93)d及(36.70±4.97)d,差异显著(P<0.05)。不同豆种上绿豆象雄虫寿命间差异不显著(P>0.05),而雌虫寿命差异显著(P>0.05)。 | 王燕 Narayan Sarjerao Talekar 陈斌 李正跃 陈宗麒 | 2010 | 云南农业大学学报(自然科学版)2010,25,1: | 17 |
| 2 | Role of Akt signaling in resistance to DNA-targeted therapy显示文摘The Akt signal transduction pathway controls most hallmarks of cancer. Activation of the Akt cascade promotes a malignant phenotype and is also widely implicated in drug resistance. Therefore, the modulation of Akt activity is regarded as an attractive strategy to enhance the efficacy of cancer therapy and irradiation. This pathway consists of phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase(PI3K), mammalian target of rapamycin, and the transforming serine-threonine kinase Akt protein isoforms, also known as protein kinase B. DNA-targeted agents, such as platinum agents, taxanes, and antimetabolites, as well as radiation have had a significant impact on cancer treatment by affecting DNA replication, which is aberrantly activated in malignancies. However, the caveat is that they may also trigger the activation of repairing mechanisms, such as upstream and downstream cascade of Akt survival pathway. Thus, each target can theoretically be inhibited in view of improving the potency of conventional treatment. Akt inhibitors, e.g., MK-2206 and perifosine, or PI3K modulators, e.g., LY294002 and Wortmannin, have shown some promising results in favor of sensitizing the cancer cells to the therapy in vitro and in vivo, which have provided the rationale for incorporation of these novel agents into multimodality treatment of different malignancies. Nevertheless, despite the acceptable safety profile of some of these agents in the clinical studies, with regard to the efficacy, the results are still too preliminary. | 3 | Frozen shoulder-A prospective randomized clinical trial显示文摘AIM To compare the results of arthroscopic capsular release with intra-articular steroid injections in patients of frozen shoulder.METHODS Fifty-six patients with frozen shoulder were randomised to one of two treatment groups: Group 1, complete 360 degree arthroscopic capsular release and group 2, intra-articular corticosteroid injection(40 mg methyl prednisolone acetate). Both groups were put on active and passive range of motion exercises following the intervention. The outcome parameters were visual analogue scale(VAS) score for pain, range of motion and Constant score which were measured at baseline, 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20 wk after intervention.RESULTS All the parameters improved in both the groups. The mean VAS score improved significantly more in the group 1 as compared to group 2 at 8 wk. This greater improvement was maintained at 20 wk with P value of 0.007 at 8 wk, 0.006 at 12 wk, 0.006 at 16 wk and 0.019 at 20 wk. The Constant score showed a more significant improvement in group 1 compared to group 2 at 4 wk, which was again maintained at 20 wk with P value of 0.01 at 4, 8, 12 and 16 wk. The gain in abduction movement was statistically significantly more in arthroscopy group with P value of 0.001 at 4, 8, 12, 16 wk and 0.005 at 20 wk. The gain in external rotation was statistically significantly more in arthroscopy group with P value of 0.007 at 4 wk, 0.001 at 8, 12, and 16 wk and 0.003 at 20 wk. There was no statistically significant difference in extension and internal rotation between the two groups at any time. | 4 | Outcome of complex tibial plateau fractures with Ilizarov external fixation with or without minimal internal fixation显示文摘Purpose: To evaluate the clinico-radiological outcome of complex tibial plateau fractures treated with Ilizarov external fixation with or without minimal internal fixation. Methods: This retrospective review was conducted on all the cases of Schatzker types V and VI tibial plateau fractures treated by Ilizarov external fixation between July 2006 and December 2015 with the minimum follow-up duration of one year. There were 30 patients: 24 males and 6 females, mean age 43.33 years, and mean follow-up 3.6 years. Three of them were open fractures;15 cases were Schatzkertype V fractures and the other 15 type VI. According to AO/OTA classification, there were 11 type C1, 12 C2 and 7 type C3 fractures. Outcome assessment was made with American Knee Society Score (AKSS) and Rasmussen's Radiological Score (RRS) at final follow-up. Results: Out of the 30 cases, mini-open reduction was performed in 7, bone graft in 4, minimal internal fixation in 10 and knee temporary immobilisation in 11 patients. Mean duration of external fixation was 11.8 weeks. All fractures united. Pin tract infections in 7 and common peroneal neuropathy in 2 patients were self-limiting. Two patients had axial misalignment of less than 10°. At final follow-up, the mean knee range of motion was 114.7, mean AKSS 81.5 and mean RRS 16.7. On statistical analysis, Schatzker type of fractures, use of minimal internal fixation and knee-spanning did not influence the final outcome. Conclusion: Ilizarov external fixator with or without minimal internal fixation provides acceptable outcome for complex tibial plateau fractures. Care must be taken to look for minor loss of alignment, especially in Type VI Schatzker fractures after removal of the fixator. | 5 | The global spread of Zika virus:is public and media concern justified in regions currently unaffected?显示文摘Background:Zika virus,an Aedes mosquito-borne flavivirus,is fast becoming a worldwide public health concern following its suspected association with over 4000 recent cases of microcephaly among newborn infants in Brazil.Discussion:Prior to its emergence in Latin America in 2015–2016,Zika was known to exist at a relatively low prevalence in parts of Africa,Asia and the Pacific islands.An extension of its apparent global dispersion may be enabled by climate conditions suitable to support the population growth of A.aegypti and A.albopictus mosquitoes over an expanding geographical range.In addition,increased globalisation continues to pose a risk for the spread of infection.Further,suspicions of alternative modes of virus transmission(sexual and vertical),if proven,provide a platform for outbreaks in mosquito non-endemic regions as well.Since a vaccine or anti-viral therapy is not yet available,current means of disease prevention involve protection from mosquito bites,excluding pregnant females from travelling to Zika-endemic territories,and practicing safe sex in those countries.Importantly,in countries where Zika is reported as endemic,caution is advised in planning to conceive a baby until such time as the apparent association between infection with the virus and microcephaly is either confirmed or refuted.The question arises as to what advice is appropriate to give in more economically developed countries distant to the current epidemic and in which Zika has not yet been reported.Summary:Despite understandable concern among the general public that has been fuelled by the media,in regions where Zika is not present,such as North America,Europe and Australia,at this time any outbreak(initiated by an infected traveler returning from an endemic area)would very probably be contained locally.Since Aedes spp.has very limited spatial dispersal,overlapping high population densities of mosquitoes and humans would be needed to sustain a focus of infection.However,as A.aegypti is distinctly anthropophilic,future control strategies for Zika should be considered in tandem with the continuing threat to human wellbeing that is presented by dengue,yellow fever and Japanese encephalitis,all of which are transmitted by the same vector species. | Narayan Gyawali Richard S.Bradbury Andrew W.Taylor-Robinson | 2016 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2016,5,1: | 8 |
| 6 | Differentiation of Crohn’s disease from intestinal tuberculosis in India in 2010显示文摘Differentiating intestinal tuberculosis from Crohn’s disease (CD) is an important clinical challenge of considerable therapeutic significance. The problem is of greatest magnitude in countries where tuberculosis continues to be highly prevalent, and where the incidence of CD is increasing. The final clinical diagnosis is based on a combination of the clinical history with endoscopic studies, culture and polymerase chain reaction for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, biopsy pathology, radiological investigations and response to therapy. In a subset of patients, surgery is required and intraoperative findings with pathological study of the resected bowel provide a definitive diagnosis. Awareness of the parameters useful in distinguishing these two disorders in each of the different diagnostic modalities is crucial to accurate decision making. Newer techniques, such as capsule endoscopy, small bowel enteroscopy and immunological assays for Mycobacterium tuberculosis, have a role to play in the differentiation of intestinal tuberculosis and CD. | 7 | Current Status of Conventional and Molecular Interventions for Blast Resistance in Rice显示文摘Pyricularia oryzae anamorph of Magnaporthe oryzae is one of the most notorious fungal pathogens causing severe economic loss in rice production worldwide. Various methods, viz. cultural, biological and molecular approaches, are utilized to counteract this pathogen. Moreover, some tolerant or resistant rice varieties have been developed with the help of breeding programmes. Isolation and molecular characterization of different blast resistance genes now open the gate for new possibilities to elucidate the actual allelic variants of these genes via various molecular breeding and transgenic approaches. However, the behavioral pattern of this fungus breakups the resistance barriers in the resistant or tolerant rice varieties. This host-pathogen barrier will be possibly countered in future research by comparative genomics data from available genome sequence data of rice and M. oryzae for durable resistance. Present review emphasized fascinating recent updates, new molecular breeding approaches, transgenic and genomics approaches(i.e. mi RNA and genome editing) for the management of blast disease in rice. | 11 | Comparative investigation of coal-and oil-fired boilers based on emission factors,ozone and secondary organic aerosol formation potentials of VOCs显示文摘Volatile organic compounds(VOCs)are the important precursors of the tropospheric ozone(O3)and secondary organic aerosols(SOA),both of which are known to harm human health and disrupt the earth’s climate system.In this study,VOC emission factors,O3 and SOA formation potentials were estimated for two types of industrial boilers:coal-fired boilers(n=3)and oil-fired boilers(n=3).Results showed that EVOCs concentrations were more than nine times higher for oil-fire d boilers compared to those for coal-fired boilers.Emission factors ofΣVOCs were found to be higher for oil-fired boilers(9.26-32.83 mg-VOC/kg)than for coal-fired boilers(1.57-4.13 mg-VOC/kg).Alkanes and aromatics were obtained as the most abundant groups in coal-fired boilers,while oxygenated organics and aromatics were the most contributing groups in oil-fired boilers.Benzene,n-hexane and o-ethyl toluene were the abundant VOC species in coal-fired boiler emissions,whereas toluene was the most abundant VOC species emitted from oil-fired boilers.O3 and SOA formation potentials were found 12 and 18 times,respectively,higher for oil-fired than for coal-fired boilers.Total OFP ranged from 3.99 to 11.39 mg-O3/kg for coal-fired boilers.For oil-fired boilers,total OFP ranged from 36.16 to 131.93 mg-O3/kg.Moreover,total secondary organic aerosol potential(SOAP)ranged from 65.4 to 122.5 mg-SOA/kg and 779.9 to 2252.5 mg-SOA/kg for the coal-fired and oil-fired boilers,respectively. | Hsi-Hsien Yang Sunil Kumar Gupta Narayan Babu Dhital Lin-Chi Wang Suresh Pandian Elumalai | 2020 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,6: | 6 |
| 12 | Rapid adsorption of toxic Pb(Ⅱ) ions from aqueous solution using multiwall carbon nanotubes synthesized by microwave chemical vapor deposition technique显示文摘Multiwall carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs) were synthesized using a tubular microwave chemical vapor deposition technique, using acetylene and hydrogen as the precursor gases and ferrocene as catalyst. The novel MWCNT samples were tested for their performance in terms of Pb(Ⅱ)binding. The synthesized MWCNT samples were characterized using Fourier Transform Infrared(FT-IR), Brunauer, Emmett and Teller(BET), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy(FESEM) analysis, and the adsorption of Pb(Ⅱ) was studied as a function of p H,initial Pb(Ⅱ) concentration, MWCNT dosage, agitation speed, and adsorption time, and process parameters were optimized. The adsorption data followed both Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms. On the basis of the Langmuir model, Qmaxwas calculated to be 104.2 mg/g for the microwave-synthesized MWCNTs. In order to investigate the dynamic behavior of MWCNTs as an adsorbent, the kinetic data were modeled using pseudo first-order and pseudo second-order equations. Different thermodynamic parameters, viz., ΔH0, ΔS0and ΔG0were evaluated and it was found that the adsorption was feasible, spontaneous and endothermic in nature. The statistical analysis revealed that the optimum conditions for the highest removal(99.9%) of Pb(Ⅱ) are at p H 5, MWCNT dosage 0.1 g, agitation speed 160 r/min and time of 22.5 min with the initial concentration of 10 mg/L. | 13 | Comparison of a plant based natural surfactant with SDS for washing of As(V) from Fe rich soil显示文摘This study explores the possible application of a biodegradable plant based surfactant,obtained from Sapindus mukorossi,for washing low levels of arsenic(As)from an iron(Fe)rich soil.Natural association of As(V)with Fe(III)makes the process difcult.Soapnut solution was compared to anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS)in down-flow and a newly introduced suction mode for soil column washing.It was observed that soapnut attained up to 86%efciency with respect to SDS in removing As.Full factorial design of experiment revealed a very good fit of data.The suction mode generated up to 83 kPa pressure inside column whilst down-flow mode generated a much higher pressure of 214 kPa,thus making the suction mode more efcient.Micellar solubilisation was found to be responsible for As desorption from the soil and it followed 1st order kinetics.Desorption rate coefcient of suction mode was found to be in the range of 0.005 to 0.01,much higher than down-flow mode values.Analysis of the FT-IR data suggested that the soapnut solution did not interact chemically with As,ofering an option for reusing the surfactant.Soapnut can be considered as a soil washing agent for removing As even from soil with high Fe content. | Soumyadeep Mukhopadhyay Mohd. | 14 | Inversion of radiative transfer model for retrieval of wheat biophysical parameters from broadband reflectance measurements显示文摘This study describes the retrieval of wheat biophysical variables of leaf chlorophyll(Cab),leaf area index(LAI),canopy chlorophyll(CCC),and leaf wetness(Cw)from broadband reflectance data corresponding to IRS LISS-3(Linear Imaging Self Scanner)sensor by inversion of PROSAIL5B canopy radiative transfer model.Reflectance data of wheat crop,grown under different treatments,were measured by hand-held spectroradiometer and later integrated to LISS-3 reflectance using its band-wise relative spectral response function.Three inversion techniques were used and their performance was compared using different statistical parameters and target diagram.The inversion techniques tried were:a look up table with best solution(LUT-I),a look up table with mean of best 10%solutions(LUT-II)and an artificial neural network(ANN).All the techniques could estimate the biophysical variables by capturing variability in their observed values,though accuracy of estimation varied among the three techniques.Target diagram clearly depicted the superiority of LUT-II over the other two approaches indicating that a mean of best 10%solutions is a better strategy while ANN was worst performer showing highest bias for all the parameters.In all the three inversion techniques,the general order of retrieval accuracy was LAI>Cab>CCC>Cw.The range of Cw was very narrow and none of the techniques could estimate variations in it.In most of the cases,the parameters were underestimated by model inversion.The best identified LUT-II technique was then applied to retrieve wheat LAI from IRS LISS-3 satellite image of 5-Feb-2012 in Sheopur district.The comparison with ground observations showed that the RMSE of LAI retrieval was about 0.56,similar to that observed in ground experimentation.The findings of this study may help in refining the protocol for generating operational crop biophysical products from IRS LISS-3 or similar sensors. | Vinay Kumar Sehgal Debasish Chakraborty Rabi Narayan Sahoo | 2016 | Information Processing in Agriculture2016,3,2: | 5 |
| 15 | Hepatoprotective effect of Solatium xanthocarpum fruit extract against CCl_4 induced acute liver toxicity in experimental animals显示文摘Objective:To investigate the hepatoprotective potential of Solonum xanthocarpum(Solanaceae) (S.xanthocarpum) in experimental rats to validate its traditional claim.Methods:50%ethanolic fruit extract of S.xanthocarpum(SXE,100.200 or 400 mg/kg hods weight) was administered daily for 14davs in experimental animals.Liver injury was induced chemically,by CCl4 administration (1 mL/kg i.p.).The hepatoprotective activity was assessed using various biochemical parameters like aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alanine aminotransferase(ALT).Serum alkaline phosphatise (SALP) and total bilirubin.Meanwhile,in vivo antioxidant activities as lipid peroxidation(LPO), reduced glutathione(GSH).superoxide dismutase(SOD) and calalase(CAT) were screened along with histopathological studies.Results:Obtained results demonstrated that the treatment with SXE significantly(P<0.05- <0.001) and dose-dcpendcntly prevented chemically induced increase in serum levels of hepatic enzymes.Furthermore.SXE significantly(up to P<0.001) reduced the lipid peroxidation in the liver tissue and restored activities of defence antioxidant enzymes GSH,SOU and catalasc towards normal levels.Histopathology of the liver tissue showed that SXE attenuated the hepatocellular necrosis and led to reduction of inflammatory cells inflltration. | 16 | Enhancement of Growth and Grain Yield of Rice in Nutrient Deficient Soils by Rice Probiotic Bacteria显示文摘Plant associated bacteria are promising alternatives to chemical fertilizers for plant growth and yield improvement in an eco-friendly manner.In this study,rice associated bacteria were isolated and assessed for mineral phosphate solubilization and indole-3-acetic acid(IAA) production activity in vitro.Six promising strains,which were tentatively identified as phylotaxon Pseudochrobactrum sp.(BRRh-1),Burkholderia sp.(BRRh-2),Burkholderia sp.(BRRh-3),Burkholderia sp.(BRRh-4),Pseudomonas aeruginosa(BRRh-5 and BRRh-6) based on their 16 S rRNA gene phylogeny,exhibited significant phosphate solubilizing activity in National Botanical Research Institute phosphate growth medium,and BRRh-4 displayed the highest phosphate solubilizing activity,followed by BRRh-5.The p H of the culture broth declined,resulting in increase of growth rate of bacteria at p H 7,which might be due to organic acid secretion by the strains.In presence of L-tryptophan,five isolates synthesized IAA and the maximum IAA was produced by BRRh-2,followed by BRRh-1.Application of two most efficient phosphate solubilizing isolates BRRh-4 and BRRh-5 by root dipping(colonization) of seedling and spraying at the flowering stage significantly enhanced the growth and grain yield of rice variety BRRI dhan-29.Interestingly,application of both strains with 50% of recommended nitrogen,phosphorus and potassium fertilizers produced equivalent or higher grain yield of rice compared to the control grown with full recommended fertilizer doses,which suggests that these strains may have the potential to be used as bioinoculants for sustainable rice production. | Md Mohibul Alam KHAN Effi HAQUE Narayan Chandra PAUL Md Abdul KHALEQUE Saleh M. | 18 | Fabrication and study of supercapacitor electrodes based on oxygen plasma functionalized carbon nanotube fibers显示文摘Dry-spun Carbon Nanotube(CNT)fibers were surface-modified by atmospheric pressure oxygen plasma functionalization using a well controlled and continuous process.The fibers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Raman spectroscopy,and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy(XPS).It was found from the conducted electrochemical measurements that the functionalized fibers showed a 132.8% increase in specific capacitance compared to non-functionalized fibers.Dye-adsorption test and the obtained Randles-Sevcik plot demonstrated that the oxygen plasma functionalized fibers exhibited increased surface area.It was further established by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET)measurements that the surface area of the CNT fibers was increased from 168.22 m^2/g to 208.01 m^2/g after plasma functionalization.The pore size distribution of the fibers was also altered by this processing.The improved electrochemical data was attributed to enhanced wettability,increased surface area,and the presence of oxygen functional groups,which promoted the capacitance of the fibers.Fiber supercapacitors were fabricated from the oxygen plasma functionalized CNT fiber electrodes using different electrolyte systems.The devices with functionalized electrodes exhibited excellent cyclic stability(93.2% after 4000 cycles),flexibility,bendability,and good energy densities.At 0.5 m A/cm^2,the EMIMBF4 device revealed a specific capacitance,which is 27% and 65%greater than the specific capacitances of devices using EMIMTFSI and H2SO4 electrolytes,respectively.The practiced in this work plasma surface processing can be employed in other applications where fibers,yarns,ribbons,and sheets need to be chemically modified. | Paa Kwasi Adusei Seyram Gbordzoe Sathya Narayan Kanakaraj Yu-Yun Hsieh Noe T.Alvarez Yanbo Fang Kevin Johnson Colin McConnell Vesselin Shanov | 2020 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,1: | 4 |
