1Where Pakistan Stands Among Top Rice Exporting Countries, an Analysis of Competitiveness显示文摘Under the umbrella of WTO, the reduction in trade barriers has forced the policy makers to focus on the export competitiveness. Rice is an important source for foreign exchange earnings for the economy of Pakistan, keeping in mind of this fact, the competitiveness of Pakistan's rice with other major exporters was examined by applying revealed competitive advantage. The domestic consumption trends of rice among the major rice exporting countries were also analyzed in the current study. The results revealed that as compare to other major exporters of rice in the world, Pakistan had high competitive and comparative advantage in the production of rice. The comparison of the movements in comparative advantage indices for Pakistan with the major world rice competitors/exporters showed that Pakistan possessed relatively high comparative and competitive advantages in rice production. The declining domestic per capita consumption of rice and increasing trends in competitiveness for Pakistan clearly revealed the expected potential of higher growth which meant that rice exports from Pakistan could continue to play an important role for the earnings of foreign exchange. 2Factors Hindering Pakistani Farmers' Choices Towards Adoption of Crop Insurance显示文摘This study was conducted to analyze the factors that negatively influence Pakistani farmers' willingness to participate in crop insurance. Probit model was applied to identify the significant factors which influenced our dependent variable 'not willing to participate'. The results of the analyses showed that crop insurance premium was the most influencing factor which had positive and significant impact on dependent variable. Similarly dissatisfaction with crop loan insurance scheme, lacking of knowledge about crop insurance, believing of being against Islamic rules and time taking process was also found to be positive and significantly influenced the dependent variable. 3Optimal Scheme Selection of Agricultural Production Structure Adjustment——Based on DEA Model; Punjab(Pakistan)显示文摘This paper used the modern evaluation method of DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) to assess the comparative efficiency and then on the basis of this among multiple schemes chose the optimal scheme of agricultural production structure adjustment. Based on the results of DEA model, we dissected scale advantages of each discretionary scheme or plan. We examined scale advantages of each discretionary scheme, tested profoundly a definitive purpose behind not-DEA efficient, which elucidated the system and methodology to enhance these discretionary plans. At the end, another method had been proposed to rank and select the optimal scheme. 5Traffic Management in Internet of Vehicles Using Improved Ant Colony Optimization显示文摘The Internet of Vehicles(IoV)is a networking paradigm related to the intercommunication of vehicles using a network.In a dynamic network,one of the key challenges in IoV is traffic management under increasing vehicles to avoid congestion.Therefore,optimal path selection to route traffic between the origin and destination is vital.This research proposed a realistic strategy to reduce traffic management service response time by enabling real-time content distribution in IoV systems using heterogeneous network access.Firstly,this work proposed a novel use of the Ant Colony Optimization(ACO)algorithm and formulated the path planning optimization problem as an Integer Linear Program(ILP).This integrates the future estimation metric to predict the future arrivals of the vehicles,searching the optimal routes.Considering the mobile nature of IOV,fuzzy logic is used for congestion level estimation along with the ACO to determine the optimal path.The model results indicate that the suggested scheme outperforms the existing state-of-the-art methods by identifying the shortest and most cost-effective path.Thus,this work strongly supports its use in applications having stringent Quality of Service(QoS)requirements for the vehicles.Abida Sharif Imran Sharif Muhammad Asim Saleem Muhammad Attique Khan Majed Alhaisoni Marriam Nawaz Abdullah Alqahtani Ye Jin Kim Byoungchol Chang 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,6:1

8Facile sol-gel preparation of high-entropy multielemental electrocatalysts for efficient oxidation of methanol and urea显示文摘High-entropy multi-elemental(HEM)electrocatalysts present superior catalytic performance due to the efficient synergism of their components.HEM electrocatalysts are usually prepared through hydrothermal reactions or calcination,which could generate undesired heterogeneous structures that hinder the exploration of the structure–property relationship of these HEM electrocatalysts.Herein,we report a sol-gel method to synthesize homogeneous HEM electrocatalysts for electro-oxidation of methanol and urea(methanol oxidation reaction(MOR)and urea oxidation reaction(UOR)),through an acid-catalyzed gelation at room temperature.With Ni as the primary component for MOR and UOR,Co can reduce the overpotentials,while Fe can increase the catalytic activities and durability.Borate and phosphate can tune the charge distribution in active sites and speed up the reaction kinetics through fast proton transfer.Thus,the optimal Ni_(2)Fe_(0.5)Co_(0.5)-BP HEM catalyst demonstrates superior catalytic activity together with good durability and great resistance to CO poisoning.In addition,a direct methanol fuel cell with Ni_(2)Fe_(0.5)Co_(0.5)-BP electrode can not only provide power,but also produce formic acid with high yield and high Faraday efficiency.This work presents a simple strategy to prepare high-performance HEM electrocatalysts for fuel cells and production of valueadded chemicals.Talifhani Mushiana Mustafa Khan Muhammad Imran Abdullah Ning Zhang Mingming Ma 2022Nano Research2022,15,6:0
9A Neuro-Fuzzy Approach to Road Traffic Congestion Prediction显示文摘The fast-paced growth of artificial intelligence applications provides unparalleled opportunities to improve the efficiency of various systems.Such as the transportation sector faces many obstacles following the implementation and integration of different vehicular and environmental aspects worldwide.Traffic congestion is among the major issues in this regard which demands serious attention due to the rapid growth in the number of vehicles on the road.To address this overwhelming problem,in this article,a cloudbased intelligent road traffic congestion prediction model is proposed that is empowered with a hybrid Neuro-Fuzzy approach.The aim of the study is to reduce the delay in the queues,the vehicles experience at different road junctions across the city.The proposed model also intended to help the automated traffic control systems by minimizing the congestion particularly in a smart city environment where observational data is obtained from various implanted Internet of Things(IoT)sensors across the road.After due preprocessing over the cloud server,the proposed approach makes use of this data by incorporating the neuro-fuzzy engine.Consequently,it possesses a high level of accuracy by means of intelligent decision making with minimum error rate.Simulation results reveal the accuracy of the proposed model as 98.72%during the validation phase in contrast to the highest accuracies achieved by state-of-the-art techniques in the literature such as 90.6%,95.84%,97.56%and 98.03%,respectively.As far as the training phase analysis is concerned,the proposed scheme exhibits 99.214% accuracy. 11Roasted fox nuts (Euryale Ferox L.) contain higher concentration of phenolics, flavonoids, minerals and antioxidants, and exhibit lower Glycemic Index (GI) in human subjects显示文摘Fox nut (Euryale ferox) is categorized among superior quality foods because of its highly nutritious profile. It also serves as a good protein source for vegetarian diets. However, it is not widely consumed, due to soggy texture and bland flavor as compared to other nuts. In this study, we used roasting and seasoning to enhance its consumer acceptance. Furthermore, we have also compared biochemical, nutritional and physical properties of the roasted and unroasted fox nuts;and their Glycemic Index (GI) in human subjects. Results showed that roasting significantly (P ≤ 0.05) improved the minerals content (from 0.58 to 0.66%), protein content (from 11.40 to 14.57%), total phenolics (from 346.02 to 470.62 mg GAE/100 g), flavonoids (from 4.15 to 4.43 mg CE/g), 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity (from 48.54 to 79.13% inhibition) and Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (from 662.46 to 957.14 μmol FeSO4/g). Consumer acceptance was evaluated with and without seasoning;both salt and spice seasoned roasted nuts had greater overall acceptability as compared to plain roasted and unroasted nuts. Fox nuts also reported low GI (37%) in human subjects (ethical approval #1772/01-06-2020). 12Image-Based Automatic Energy Meter Reading Using Deep Learning显示文摘We propose to perform an image-based framework for electrical energy meter reading.Our aim is to extract the image region that depicts the digits and then recognize them to record the consumed units.Combining the readings of serial numbers and energy meter units,an automatic billing system using the Internet of Things and a graphical user interface is deployable in a real-time setup.However,such region extraction and character recognition become challenging due to image variations caused by several factors such as partial occlusion due to dust on the meter display,orientation and scale variations caused by camera positioning,and non-uniform illumination caused by shades.To this end,our work evaluates and compares the stateof-the art deep learning algorithm You Only Look Once(YOLO)along with traditional handcrafted features for text extraction and recognition.Our image dataset contains 10,000 images of electrical energymeters and is further expanded by data augmentation such as in-plane rotation and scaling tomake the deep learning algorithms robust to these image variations.For training and evaluation,the image dataset is annotated to produce the ground truth of all the images.Consequently,YOLO achieves superior performance over the traditional handcrafted features with an average recognition rate of 98%for all the digits.It proves to be robust against the mentioned image variations compared with the traditional handcrafted features.Our proposed method can be highly instrumental in reducing the time and effort involved in the currentmeter reading,where workers visit door to door,take images ofmeters and manually extract readings from these images.Muhammad Imran Hafeez Anwar Muhammad Tufail Abdullah Khan Murad Khan Dzati Athiar Ramli 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,1:0

14Unraveling the role of NiSnPH@OOH/CC perovskite hydroxide for efficient electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol to formate显示文摘The sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is the key tailback for hydrogen production from the water electrolysis.Masking OER with thermodynamically auspicious methanol oxidation reaction(MOR)can significantly boost the H_(2) and value-added products production.However,it is currently challenging to achieve a synergistic manipulation of product selectivity and performance for MOR electrocatalyst.Herein,we report NiSnPH@OOH/CC(CC=carbon cloth)perovskite hydroxide nanosphere as an efficient MOR electrocatalyst with high activity,stability,and selectivity towards methanol oxidation to formate.A surface amorphous layer of defect rich NiOOH was generated in operando by selective Sn leaching with stable perovskite hydroxide bulk structure,which mitigates the oxidative power and optimizes the local coordination environment of the active NiOOH sites.In situ Raman combined with electrochemical studies further confirm the key active species,NiOOH,generated in operando enhance the MOR and blocking the over oxidation of methanol to CO_(2).As a result,NiSnPH@OOH/CC effectively masks the OER and attains>99%selectivity with 100%Faradic efficiency for methanol-to-formate.The results of this study show the advances of NiSnPH@OOH/CC as an efficient electrocatalyst for MOR and also suggest its potential applications for various small organic molecules oxidation.Jing Shao Yusheng Fang Xiaobing Wu Muhammad Imran Abdullah Youkun Tao 2024Nano Research2024,17,4:0

17Deep Learning Approach for Automatic Cardiovascular Disease Prediction Employing ECG Signals显示文摘Cardiovascular problems have become the predominant cause of death worldwide and a rise in the number of patients has been observed lately.Currently,electrocardiogram(ECG)data is analyzed by medical experts to determine the cardiac abnormality,which is time-consuming.In addition,the diagnosis requires experienced medical experts and is error-prone.However,automated identification of cardiovascular disease using ECGs is a challenging problem and state-of-the-art performance has been attained by complex deep learning architectures.This study proposes a simple multilayer perceptron(MLP)model for heart disease prediction to reduce computational complexity.ECG dataset containing averaged signals with window size 10 is used as an input.Several competing deep learning and machine learning models are used for comparison.K-fold cross-validation is used to validate the results.Experimental outcomes reveal that the MLP-based architecture can produce better outcomes than existing approaches with a 94.40%accuracy score.The findings of this study show that the proposed system achieves high performance indicating that it has the potential for deployment in a real-world,practical medical environment.Muhammad Tayyeb Muhammad Umer Khaled Alnowaiser Saima Sadiq Ala’Abdulmajid Eshmawi Rizwan Majeed Abdullah Mohamed Houbing Song Imran Ashraf 2023Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2023,,11:0
