Farmers' Perception and Awareness and Factors Affecting Awareness of Farmers Regarding Crop Insurance as a Risk Coping Mechanism Evidence from Pakistan显示文摘This study has been conducted in three districts of Punjab Province namely, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajan Pur and Bahawalpur of Pakistan. The study showed the results of a survey of 300 farmers which was organized to assess awareness level of farmers regarding crop insurance, factors affecting the awareness level among farmers and the perception of farmers about crop insurance. Based on exploratory research work upon the responses of farmers, the average and standard deviation were calculated. Probit model was applied to explore the factors affecting the awareness level of farmers. SPSS was used for the analysis of the collected data. The results revealed that out of 300 farmers, 184 farmers were aware with crop insurance and rests of the 116 farmers were not aware. Banks and E-media were found to be the two most important sources of the awareness for the respondent farmers. In the study area, the climatic risks were reported as the most severe risks faced by the farmers. The results also revealed the existence of negative perceptions of the farmers about crop insurance i.e. farmers perceived crop insurance as a kind of tax and they believed premium was so high that it was out of range of poor farmers and only large scale farmers could afford it. Results obtained by applying Probit model revealed that 'education' and 'previously availed agricultural credit' were the two most important factors which affected the awareness of the farmers regarding crop insurance. | Sidra Ghazanfar Zhang Qi-wen Muhammad Abdullah Zeeshan Ahmad Majid Lateef | 2015 | Journal of Northeast Agricultural University(English Edition)2015,22,1: | 9

Experimental Investigation of Immiscible Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Foam Rheology for Improved Oil Recovery显示文摘This paper presents the rheological behaviour of supercritical CO_2(s CO_2) foam at reservoir conditions of 1 500 psi and 80 °C. Different commercial surfactants were screened and utilized in order to generate a fairly stable CO_2 foam. Mixed surfactant system was also introduced to generate strong foam. Foam rheology was studied for some specific foam qualities using a high pressure high temperature(HPHT) foam loop rheometer. A typical shear thinning behaviour of the foam was observed and a significant increase in the foam viscosity was noticed with the increase of foam quality until 85%. A desired high apparent viscosity with coarse texture was found at 85% foam quality. Foam visualization above 85% showed an unstable foam due to extremely thin lamella which collapsed and totally disappeared in the loop rheometer. Below 5_2%, a non-homogenous and unstable foam was found having low viscosity with some liquid accumulation at the bottom of the circulation loop. This research has demonstrated rheology of s CO_2 foams at different qualities at HPHT to obtain optimal foam quality region for immiscible CO_2 foam co-injection process. | Shehzad Ahmed Khaled Abdalla Elraies Jalal Foroozesh Siti Rohaida Bt Mohd Shafian Muhammad Rehan Hashmet Ivy Chai Ching Hsia Abdullah Almansour | 2017 | Journal of Earth Science2017,28,5: | 5
Analysis on Technical Efficiency of Rice Farms and Its Influencing Factors in South-western of Niger显示文摘The present study focused on analyzing the technical efficiency of rice farms in southwest of Niger. The data from January to March 2015 survey of 148 ms in three districts of south-western of Niger were analyzed by using DEA-Tobit two-step method. In the first step, data envelopment analysis(DEA) was applied to estimate technical, pure technical and scale efficiency. In the second step, Tobit regression was used to identify factors affecting technical efficiency. The results showed that rice producers in southwest of Niger could reduce their inputs by 52% and still produce the same level of rice output. The Tobit regression showed that factors, such as farm size, experience in rice farming, membership of cooperative, main occupation and land ownership had a direct impact on technical efficiency. | Oumarou Boubacar Zhou Hui-qiu Muhammad Abdullah Rana Sidra Ghazanfar | 2016 | Journal of Northeast Agricultural University(English Edition)2016,23,4: | 5

Combining chlorination and sulfuration strategies for high-performance all-small-molecule organic solar cells显示文摘Three small-molecule donors based on dithieno [2,3-d:2’,3 ’-d’]-benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b’] dithiophene(DTBDT)unit were designed and synthesized by side chain regulation with chlorinated or/and sulfurated substitutions(namely ZR1,ZR1-Cl,and ZR1-S-Cl respectively),along with a crystalline non-fullerene acceptor IDIC-4 Cl with a chlorinated 1,1-dicyanomethylene-3-indanone(IC) end group.Energy levels, molar extinction coefficients and crystallinities of three donor molecules can be effectively altered by combining chlorination and sulfuration strategies.Especially, the ZR1-S-Cl exhibited the best absorption ability, lowest higher occupied molecular orbital(HOMO) energy level and highest crystallinity among three donors, resulting in the corresponding all-small-molecule organic solar cells to produce a high power conversion efficiency(PCE) of 12.05% with IDIC-4 Cl as an acceptor. | Ruimin Zhou Chen Yang Wenjun Zou Muhammad Abdullah Adil Huan Li Min Lv Ziyun Huang Menglan Lv Jianqi Zhang Kun Lu Zhixiang Wei | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,1: | 3
Analysis of the effect of passive measures on the energy consumption and zero-energy prospects of residential buildings in Pakistan显示文摘Climate change can adversely impact the thermal comfort and energy efficiency of the buildings stock. The South Asian countries are particularly vulnerable to the adverse impacts of climate change specially in the form of rising temperatures and increasing frequency of heat waves. The passive building design measures can be useful in mitigating and adapting to the climate change by increasing energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In this study various passive climate change adaptation measures (PCAMs) have been used individually and in form of combinations in order to analyze their impact on the energy efficacy of residential buildings in Pakistan. It has been found that the natural ventilation and front green wall are the most efficient options for reducing the overall energy consumption. By implementation of these PCAMs, cooling demand can be decreased by 27.75% while heating demand can be reduced by 35%. Secondly, the prospect of net zero-energy building and reduced CO2 emissions are also studied. It has been shown that building can achieve net-zero energy on an annual basis at every orientation and it can attain the status of nearly zero-energy building on a monthly basis. Moreover, emitted CO2 can be reduced by 31% by using the renewable energy. | Muhammad Wasim Anwar Zaib Ali Abdullah Javed Emad Ud Din Muhammad Sajid | 2021 | Building Simulation2021,14,4: | 3
Determination of calorie and protein intake among acute and sub-acute traumatic brain injury patients显示文摘Purpose:Malnutrition is a common problem among hospitalized patients, especially among traumatic brain injury(TBI)patients. It is developed from hypermetabolism and the condition may worsen under the circumstance of underfeeding or incompatible dietary management. However, the data of nutrient intake especially calorie and protein among TBI patients were scarce.Hence, this study aimed to determine the calorie and protein intake among acute and sub-acute TBI patients receiving medical nutrition therapy in hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah,Terengganu. Methods:This observational study involved 50 patients recruited from the neurosurgical ward.Method of 24 h dietary recall was utilized and combined with self-administered food diaries for 2-8 days.Food consumptions including calorie intake and protein intake were analyzed using Nutritionist PRO™(Woodinville,USA)and manual calculation based on the Malaysian food composition database(2015).Results:Patients consisted of 56%males and 44%females with the median age of 28.0(IQR=22.8-36.5)years,of which 92%were diagnosed as mild TBI and the remaining(8%)as moderate TBI.The Glasgow coma scale(GCS)was adopted to classify TBI severity with the score 13-15 being mild and 9-12 being moderate. The median length of hospital stay was 2(IQR=2.0e3.3)days.Calorie and protein intake improved significantly from day 1 to discharge day. However, the intake during discharge day was still considered as suboptimal,i.e.75%of calorie requirement, whilst the median protein intake was only 61.3%relative to protein requirement. Moreover, the average percentages of calorie and protein intakes throughout hospitalization were remarkably lower,i.e.52.2%and 41.0%,respectively.Conclusion:Although the calorie and protein intakes had increased from baseline, hospitalized TBI patients were still at a risk to develop malnutrition as the average intakes were considerably low as compared to their requirements.Optimum nutrient intakes especially calorie and protein are crucial to ensure optimum recovery process as well as to minimize risks of infection and complications. | Mohd Ibrahim Abdullah Aryati Ahmad Sharifah Wajihah Wafa Syed Saadun Tarek Wafa Ahmad Zubaidi Abdul Latif Noor Aini Mohd Yusoff Muhammad Khalis Jasmiad Nujaimin Udin Kartini Abdul Karim | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Traumatology2020,23,5: | 3
Fusarium wilt of banana:Current update and sustainable disease control using classical and essential oils approaches显示文摘Fusarium species were reported to produce biofilms.Biofilms are superficial societies of microbes bounded and endangered by being situated or taking place outside a cell or cells. The most destructive fungal diseases caused by phytopathogens are as a result of biofilms formation.Fusarium wilt of banana(Panama disease)is caused by a soil-borne pathogen called Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.cubense.Fusarium oxysporum occurs in a form of a species complex(FOSC)which encompasses a crowd of strains.Horizontal genetic factor transfer may donate to the observed assortment in pathogenic strains, while sexual reproduction is unknown in the FOSC.Fusarium wilt is a notorious disease on several crops worldwide.Yield loss caused by this pathogen is huge, and significant to destroy crop yields annually, thereby affecting the producer countries in various continents of the world. The disease is also resistant to various synthetic chemical fungicides. However, excessive use of synthetic fungicides during disease control could be lethal to humans, animals, and plants. This calls for alternative eco-friendly management of this disease by targeting the biofilms formation and finally suppressing this devastating phytopathogen. In this review,we,therefore, described the damage caused by Fusarium wilt disease, the concept of filamentous fungal biofilms, classical control strategies, sustainable disease control strategies using essential oils, and prevention and control of vegetables Fusarium wilt diseases. | Abubakar Abubakar Ismaila Khairulmazmi Ahmad Yasmeen Siddique Muhammad Aswad Abdul Wahab Abdulaziz Bashir Kutawa Adamu Abdullahi Syazwan Afif Mohd Zobir Arifin Abdu Siti Nor Akmar Abdullah | 2023 | Horticultural Plant Journal2023,9,1: | 2
Molecular hallmarks of long non-coding RNAs in aging and its significant effect on aging-associated diseases显示文摘Aging is linked to the deterioration of many physical and cognitive abilities and is the leading risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease. The growing aging population is a significant healthcare problem globally that researchers must investigate to better understand the underlying aging processes. Advances in microarrays and sequencing techniques have resulted in deeper analyses of diverse essential genomes(e.g., mouse, human, and rat) and their corresponding cell types, their organ-specific transcriptomes, and the tissue involved in aging. Traditional gene controllers such as DNA-and RNA-binding proteins significantly influence such programs, causing the need to sort out long non-coding RNAs, a new class of powerful gene regulatory elements. However, their functional significance in the aging process and senescence has yet to be investigated and identified. Several recent researchers have associated the initiation and development of senescence and aging in mammals with several well-reported and novel long non-coding RNAs. In this review article, we identified and analyzed the evolving functions of long non-coding RNAs in cellular processes, including cellular senescence, aging, and age-related pathogenesis, which are the major hallmarks of long non-coding RNAs in aging. | Syed Aoun Mehmood Sherazi Asim Abbasi Abdullah Jamil Mohammad Uzair Ayesha Ikram Shanzay Qamar Adediji Ayomide Olamide Muhammad Arshad Peter J.Fried Milos Ljubisavljevic Ran Wang Shahid Bashir | 2023 | Neural Regeneration Research2023,18,5: | 2
SARS-CoV-2 involvement in central nervous system tissue damage显示文摘As the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)continues to spread globally,it became evident that the SARS-CoV-2 virus infects multiple organs including the brain.Several clinical studies revealed that patients with COVID-19 infection experience an array of neurological signs ranging in severity from headaches to life-threatening strokes.Although the exact mechanism by which the SARS-CoV-2 virus directly impacts the brain is not fully understood, several theories have been suggested including direct and indirect pathways induced by the virus. One possible theory is the invasion of SARS-CoV-2 to the brain occurs either through the bloodstream or via the nerve endings which is considered to be the direct route.Such findings are based on studies reporting the presence of viral material in the cerebrospinal fluid and brain cells.Nevertheless, the indirect mechanisms, including blood-clotting abnormalities and prolonged activation of the immune system, can result in further tissue and organ damages seen during the course of the disease. This overview attempts to give a thorough insight into SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus neurological infection and highlights the possible mechanisms leading to the neurological manifestations observed in infected patients. | Muhammad Ali Haidar Zaynab Shakkour Mohammad Amine Reslan Nadine Al-Haj Perla Chamoun Karl Habashy Hasan Kaafarani Shima Shahjouei Sarah HFarran Abdullah Shaito Esber SSaba Bassam Badran Mirna Sabra Firas Kobeissy Maya Bizri | 2022 | Neural Regeneration Research2022,17,6: | 2
Numerical evaluation of new Austrian tunneling method excavation sequences: A case study显示文摘The main aspects that require attention in tunnel design in terms of safety and economy are the precise estimation of probable ground conditions and ground behavior during construction. The variation in rock mass behavior due to tunnel excavation sequence plays an important role during the construction stage. The purpose of this research is to numerically evaluate the effect of excavation sequence on the ground behavior for the Lowari tunnel project, Pakistan. For the tunnel stability, the ground behavior observed during the actual partial face excavation sequence is compared with the top heading and bench excavation sequence. For this purpose, the intact rock parameters are used along with the characterization of rock mass joints related parameters to provide input for numerical modelling via FLAC 2D. The in-situ stresses for the numerical modelling are obtained using empirical equations. From the comparison of the two excavation sequences, it was observed that the actual excavation sequence used for Lowari tunnel construction utilized more support than the top heading and bench method. However, the actual excavation sequence provided good results in terms of stability. | Hafeezur Rehman Abdul Muntaqim Naji Wahid Ali Muhammad Junaid Rini Asnida Abdullah Han-kyu Yoo | 2020 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2020,30,3: | 2
Broad bandwidth SOA-based multiwavelength laser incorporating a bidirectional Lyot filter显示文摘We demonstrate a broad bandwidth multiwavelength laser based on a bidirectional Lyot filter and a semiconductor optical amplifier with a mechanism of intensity-dependent loss as the flatness agent. A wide bandwidth of a multiwavelength spectrum of 32.9 nm within a 5 dB uniformity is obtained under optimized polarization parameters. For this case, the number of generated lasing lines is 329 with a fixed wavelength separation of 0.1 nm. The power stability of this multiwavelength laser is less than 1.35 dB within 200 min time frame. This shows that the bidirectional Lyot filter provides an alternative option for multiwavelength generation in laser systems. | Abdul Hadi Sulaiman Muhammad Zamzuri Abdul Kadir Nelidya Md Yusoff Noran Azizan Cholan Fairuz Abdullah Ahmad Fauzi Abas Mohammed Thamer Alresheedi Mohd Adzir Mahdi | 2018 | Chinese Optics Letters2018,16,9: | 2
Real-time-guided bone regeneration around standardized critical size calvarial defects using bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells and collagen membrane with and without using tricalcium phosphate: an in vivo microcomputed tomographic and histologic e显示文摘The aim of the present real time in vivo micro-computed tomography(m CT)and histologic experiment was to assess the efficacy of guided bone regeneration(GBR)around standardized calvarial critical size defects(CSD)using bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs),and collagen membrane(CM)with and without tricalcium phosphate(TCP)graft material. In the calvaria of nine female Sprague-Dawley rats,full-thickness CSD(diameter 4.6 mm)were created under general anesthesia.Treatment-wise,rats were divided into three groups. In group 1,CSD was covered with a resorbable CM;in group 2,BMSCs were filled in CSD and covered with CM;and in group 3,TCP soaked in BMSCs was placed in CSD and covered with CM.All defects were closed using resorbable sutures.Bone volume and bone mineral density of newly formed bone(NFB)and remaining TCP particles and rate of new bone formation was determined at baseline,2,4,6,and 10 weeks using in vivo m CT.At the 10th week, the rats were killed and calvarial segments were assessed histologically. The results showed that the hardness of NFB was similar to that of the native bone in groups 1 and 2 as compared to the NFB in group 3.Likewise,values for the modulus of elasticity were also significantly higher in group 3 compared to groups 1 and 2.This suggests that TCP when used in combination with BMSCs and without CM was unable to form bone of significant strength that could possibly provide mechanical'lock'between the natural bone and NFB.The use of BMSCs as adjuncts to conventional GBR initiated new bone formation as early as 2 weeks of treatment compared to when GBR is attempted without adjunct BMSC therapy. | Khalid Al-Hezaimi Sundar Ramalingam Mansour Al-Askar Aws S ArRejaie Nasser Nooh Fawad Jawad Abdullah Aldahmash Muhammad Atteya Cun-Yu Wang | 2016 | International Journal of Oral Science2016,8,1: | 2
Week Ahead Electricity Power and Price Forecasting Using Improved DenseNet-121 Method显示文摘In the Smart Grid(SG)residential environment, consumers change their power consumption routine according to the price and incentives announced by the utility, which causes the prices to deviate from the initial pattern.Thereby, electricity demand and price forecasting play a significant role and can help in terms of reliability and sustainability.Due to the massive amount of data, big data analytics for forecasting becomes a hot topic in the SG domain. In this paper, the changing and non-linearity of consumer consumption pattern complex data is taken as input. To minimize the computational cost and complexity of the data, the average of the feature engineering approaches includes:Recursive Feature Eliminator(RFE),Extreme Gradient Boosting(XGboost),Random Forest(RF),and are upgraded to extract the most relevant and significant features. To this end,we have proposed the DensetNet-121 network and Support Vector Machine(SVM)ensemble with Aquila Optimizer(AO)to ensure adaptability and handle the complexity of data in the classification.Further, the AO method helps to tune the parameters of DensNet(121 layers)and SVM,which achieves less training loss, computational time, minimized overfitting problems and more training/test accuracy.Performance evaluation metrics and statistical analysis validate the proposed model results are better than the benchmark schemes. Our proposed method has achieved a minimal value of the Mean Average Percentage Error(MAPE)rate i.e.,8%by DenseNet-AO and 6%by SVM-AO and the maximum accurateness rate of 92%and 95%,respectively. | Muhammad Irfan Ali Raza Faisal Althobiani Nasir Ayub Muhammad Idrees Zain Ali Kashif Rizwan Abdullah Saeed Alwadie Saleh Mohammed Ghonaim Hesham Abdushkour Saifur Rahman Omar Alshorman Samar Alqhtani | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,9: | 2

Review:Data center network architecture in cloud computing:review, taxonomy, and open research issues显示文摘The data center network(DCN), which is an important component of data centers, consists of a large number of hosted servers and switches connected with high speed communication links. A DCN enables the deployment of resources centralization and on-demand access of the information and services of data centers to users. In recent years, the scale of the DCN has constantly increased with the widespread use of cloud-based services and the unprecedented amount of data delivery in/between data centers, whereas the traditional DCN architecture lacks aggregate bandwidth, scalability, and cost effectiveness for coping with the increasing demands of tenants in accessing the services of cloud data centers. Therefore, the design of a novel DCN architecture with the features of scalability, low cost, robustness, and energy conservation is required. This paper reviews the recent research findings and technologies of DCN architectures to identify the issues in the existing DCN architectures for cloud computing. We develop a taxonomy for the classification of the current DCN architectures, and also qualitatively analyze the traditional and contemporary DCN architectures. Moreover, the DCN architectures are compared on the basis of the significant characteristics, such as bandwidth, fault tolerance, scalability, overhead, and deployment cost. Finally, we put forward open research issues in the deployment of scalable, low-cost, robust, and energy-efficient DCN architecture, for data centers in computational clouds. | Han QI Muhammad SHIRAZ Jie-yao LIU Abdullah GANI Zulkanain ABDUL RAHMAN Torki A.ALTAMEEM | 2014 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science C(Computers and Electronics)2014,15,9: | 1
