1Achieving Energy Efficiency in Wireless Sensor Networks Using Dynamic Channel Polling and Packet Concatenation显示文摘There has been a significant interest of researchers to combine different schemes focused on optimizing energy performance while developing aMAC protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs).In this paper,we propose to integrate two cross-layer schemes:dynamic channel polling and packet concatenation using a recent asynchronous MAC protocol“Adaptive&Dynamic Polling MAC”(ADPMAC).ADP-MAC dynamically selects the polling interval distribution based on characterization of incoming traffic patterns using Coefficient of variation(CV).Packet Concatenation(PC)refers to combining the individually generated data packets into a single super packet and sending it at the polling instant.Also,the Block Acknowledgement(BA)scheme has been developed for ADP-MAC to work in conjunction with the packet concatenation.The proposed schemes have been implemented in Tiny-OS for Mica2 platform and Avrora emulator has been used for conducting experiments.Simulation results have revealed that the performance both in terms of energy&packet loss improves when ADP-MAC is used in conjunction with the additional features of PC&BA.Furthermore,the proposed scheme has been compared with a stateof-art packet concatenation primitive PiP(Packet-in-Packet).It has been observed that ADP-MAC supersedes the performance of PiP in terms of PDR(Packet Delivery Ratio)due to better management of synchronization between source and sink.Shama Siddiqui Anwar Ahmed Khan Sayeed Ghani 2021China Communications2021,18,8:1
2Context Based Adoption of Ranking and Indexing Measures for Cricket Team Ranks显示文摘There is an international cricket governing body that ranks the expertise of all the cricket playing nations,known as the International Cricket Council(ICC).The ranking system followed by the ICC relies on the winnings and defeats of the teams.The model used by the ICC to implement rankings is deficient in certain key respects.It ignores key factors like winning margin and strength of the opposition.Various measures of the ranking concept are presented in this research.The proposed methods adopt the concepts of h-Index and PageRank for presenting more comprehensive ranking metrics.The proposed approaches not only rank the teams on their losing/winning stats but also take into consideration the margin of winning and the quality of the opposition.Three cricket team ranking techniques are presented i.e.,(1)Cricket Team-Index(ct-index),(2)Cricket Team Rank(CTR)and(3)Weighted Cricket Team Rank(WCTR).The proposed metrics are validated through the collection of cricket dataset,extracted from Cricinfo,having instances for all the three formats of the game i.e.,T20 International(T20i),One Day International(ODI)and Test matches.The comparative analysis between the proposed and existing techniques,for all the three formats,is presented as well.Raja Sher Afgun Usmani Syed Muhammad Saqlain Shah Muhammad Sher Ramzan Abdullah Saad A.L-Malaise AL-Ghamdi Anwar Ghani Imran Khan Farrukh Saleem 2020Computers, Materials & Continua2020,,11:0
3Hash Table Assisted Efficient File Level De-Duplication Scheme in SD-IoV Assisted Sensing Devices显示文摘The Internet of Things(IoT)and cloud technologies have encouraged massive data storage at central repositories.Software-defined networks(SDN)support the processing of data and restrict the transmission of duplicate values.It is necessary to use a data de-duplication mechanism to reduce communication costs and storage overhead.Existing State of the art schemes suffer from computational overhead due to deterministic or random tree-based tags generation which further increases as the file size grows.This paper presents an efficient file-level de-duplication scheme(EFDS)where the cost of creating tags is reduced by employing a hash table with key-value pair for each block of the file.Further,an algorithm for hash table-based duplicate block identification and storage(HDBIS)is presented based on fingerprints that maintain a linked list of similar duplicate blocks on the same index.Hash tables normally have a consistent time complexity for lookup,generating,and deleting stored data regardless of the input size.The experiential results show that the proposed EFDS scheme performs better compared to its counterparts.Ghawar Said Ata Ullah Anwar Ghani Muhammad Azeem Khalid Yahya Muhammad Bilal Sayed Chhattan Shah 2023Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing2023,38,10:0
4Smart Security Framework for Educational Institutions Using Internet of Things(IoT)显示文摘Educational institutions are soft targets for the terrorist with massive and defenseless people.In the recent past,numbers of such attacks have been executed around the world.Conducting research,in order to provide a secure environment to the educational institutions is a challenging task.This effort is motivated by recent assaults,made at Army Public School Peshawar,following another attack at Charsada University,Khyber Pukhtun Khwa,Pakistan and also the Santa Fe High School Texas,USA massacre.This study uses the basic technologies of edge computing,cloud computing and IoT to design a smart emergency alarm system framework.IoT is engaged in developing this world smarter,can contribute significantly to design the Smart Security Framework(SSF)for educational institutions.In the emergency situation,all the command and control centres must be informed within seconds to halt or minimize the loss.In this article,the SSF is proposed.This framework works on three layers.The first layer is the sensors and smart devices layer.All these sensors and smart devices are connected to the Emergency Control Room(ECR),which is the second layer of the proposed framework.The second layer uses edge computing technologies to process massive data and information locally.The third layer uses cloud computing techniques to transmit and process data and information to different command and control centres.The proposed system was tested on Cisco Packet Tracer 7.The result shows that this approach can play an efficient role in security alert,not only in the educational institutions but also in other organizations too.Afzal Badshah Anwar Ghani Muhammad Ahsan Qureshi Shahaboddin Shamshirband 2019Computers, Materials & Continua2019,,7:0
5IoT Devices Authentication Using Artificial Neural Network显示文摘User authentication is one of the critical concerns of information security.Users tend to use strong textual passwords,but remembering complex passwords is hard as they often write it on a piece of paper or save it in their mobile phones.Textual passwords are slightly unprotected and are easily attackable.The attacks include dictionary,shoulder surfing,and brute force.Graphical passwords overcome the shortcomings of textual passwords and are designed to aid memorability and ease of use.This paper proposes a Process-based Pattern Authentication(PPA)system for Internet of Things(IoT)devices that does not require a server to maintain a static password of the login user.The server stores user’s information,which they provide at the time of registration,i.e.,the R-code and the symbol,but the P-code,i.e.,the actual password,will change with every login attempt of users.In this scheme,users may draw a pattern on the basis of calculation from the P-code and Rcode in the PPA pattern,and can authenticate themselves using their touch dynamic behaviors through Artificial Neural Network(ANN).The ANN is trained on touch behaviors of legitimate users reporting superior performance over the existing methods.For experimental purposes,PPA is implemented as a prototype on a computer system to carry out experiments for the evaluation in terms of memorability and usability.The experiments show that the system has an effect of 5.03%of the False Rejection Rate(FRR)and 4.36%of the False Acceptance Rate(FAR),respectively.Syed Shabih Ul Hasan Anwar Ghani Ikram Ud Din Ahmad Almogren Ayman Altameem 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,2:0
