1Changes in enzymes activity, substrate utilization pattern and diversity of soil microbial communities under cadmium pollution显示文摘Heavy metal pollution has received increasing attention in recent years mainly because of the public awareness of environmental issues. In this study we have evaluated the effect of cadmium(Cd) on enzymes activity, substrate utilization pattern and diversity of microbial communities in soil spiked with 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 mg/kg Cd, during 60 d of incubation at 25℃. Enzyme activities determined at 0, 15, 30, 45, and 60 d after heavy metal application(DAA) showed marked declines for various Cd treatments, and up to 60 DAA, 100 mg/kg Cd resulted in 50.1%, 47.4%, and 39.8% decreases in soil urease, acid phosphatase and dehydrogenase activities, respectively to control. At 60 DAA, substrate utilization pattern of soil microbial communities determined by inoculating Biolog ECO plates indicated that Cd addition had markedly inhibited the functional activity of soil microbial communities and multivariate analysis of sole carbon source utilization showed significantly different utilization patterns for 80 and 100 mg/kg Cd treatments. 2Systematic study of(MoTa)_(x)NbTiZr medium-and high-entropy alloys for biomedical implants-In vivo biocompatibility examination显示文摘In this study,the application of medium-and high-entropy(Mo Ta)_(x)Nb Ti Zr alloys in biomedical implants was systematically analyzed.The alloy with the best combination of mechanical properties was selected and characterized for in vitro and in vivo response for the first time to examine its biomedical properties.A logarithmic increase in the hardness and the yield strength was observed as a function of the Mo and Ta content.Alloys with up to 0.4 mol fraction of Mo and Ta showed a plastic strain of more than 30%under compression.The nanoindentation results showed that the addition of Mo and Ta increased the elastic modulus of the system linearly.It was surmised that the addition of Ta and Mo above a critical concentration(mole fraction=0.4)was unfavorable from a biomedical perspective as it increased the brittleness and elastic modulus and decreased the ductility of the system.Therefore,the(Mo Ta)_(0.2)Nb Ti Zr alloy is a potential structural material for biomedical implants because of its excellent strength and ductility.The developed alloy was investigated for its corrosion properties and compared with commercial biomedical alloys.Furthermore,the biocompatibility of the alloy was examined using an in vivo examination.The alloy was implanted in the skeletal muscles of mice for four weeks and the histology of the surrounding tissue was studied.The alloy exhibited strong passive behavior in a phosphate buffer solution and non-toxic soft tissue response.Muhammad Akmal Ahtesham Hussain Muhammad Afzal Young Ik Lee Ho Jin Ryu 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,19:2

4禽致病性大肠杆菌ETT2转录因子eivF缺失株的生物学特性及转录组学分析显示文摘【目的】构建禽致病性大肠杆菌(APEC)Ⅲ型分泌系统2(ETT2)转录因子eivF缺失株,并对其进行生物学特性及转录组学分析,探究转录因子eivF基因在APEC致病过程中的作用,为后期深入研究ETT2致病机制奠定基础。【方法】利用Red同源重组技术构建APEC ETT2转录因子eivF基因缺失的APEC AE81△eivF株及其回复株AE81 C-eivF,通过运动性、生物被膜形成等试验分析eivF对APEC生物学功能的影响;并利用转录组学方法分析eivF在转录调控网络中对细菌鞭毛和生物被膜等相关因子的转录调控作用。【结果】成功构建了APEC eivF基因缺失株AE81△eivF和回复株AE81 C-eivF;生物学结果表明,与野生株AE81相比,缺失株AE81△eivF运动能力降低,生物被膜形成褶皱堆砌且厚度增大,空间结构呈立体、多层次状,并形成类似于三维塔状结构的突起,回复株AE81 C-eivF运动能力和生物被膜形成能力基本恢复;与野生株AE81相比,缺失株AE81△eivF有576个基因差异表达,且鞭毛和生物被膜等相关基因在转录水平上均发生显著变化。【结论】ETT2的转录因子eivF参与调控APEC的生物表型变化,其可能通过调控鞭毛、生物被膜相关基因而调控APEC致病过程。傅丹丹 肖亚婷 薛媚 Muhammad Akmal Raheem 冯寒霜 涂健 宋祥军 邵颖 祁克宗 2020西北农林科技大学学报(自然科学版)2020,48,8:2

7Mo and Ta addition in NbTiZr medium entropy alloy to overcome tensile yield strength-ductility trade-off显示文摘In this study,single-phase NbTiZr and NbTiZr(MoTa)_(0.1) medium-entropy alloys(MEAs)were investigated for their use in biomedical implants.The alloys were prepared by arc melting,and were then cold-rolled,annealed,and characterized in terms of phase analysis,mechanical properties,fractography,and wear resistance.Both alloys showed a single body-centered cubic phase with superior mechanical,and tribological properties compared to commercially available biomedical alloys.Mo and Ta-containing MEAs showed higher tensile yield strength(1060±18 MPa)and higher tensile ductility(~20%),thus overcoming the strength-ductility trade-off with no signs of transformation-induced plasticity,twinning,or precipitation.The generalized stacking fault energy(GSFE)calculations on the{112}<111>slip system by the first-principles calculations based on density functional theory showed that the addition of less than0.2 molar fraction of Mo and Ta lowers the GSFE curves.This behavior posits the increase in ductility of the alloy by facilitating slips although strength is also increased by solid solution strengthening.The wear resistance of both alloys against hardened steel surfaces was superior to that of commercial biomedical alloys.Thus,we concluded that NbTiZr(MoTa)_(0.1)MEA with good tensile ductility is a potential candidate for biomedical implants.Muhammad Akmal Hyun Woo Seong Ho Jin Ryu 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,14:1

12Sustainable food industrial waste management through single cell protein production and characterization of protein enriched bread显示文摘Production of single cell protein(SCP)from food waste is one of the promising approaches for excellent waste management.In the present study,SCP was produced through submerged fermentation using selected food wastes(banana peel,citrus peel,carrot pomace and potato peel).During process optimization,combinations of various temperature and nitrogen sources were studied for optimum SCP yield(g/100g).The results indicated that maximum SCP yield was obtained at 30℃ for 7 days on potato peels,whereas citrus and banana peels exhibited the lowest SCP yield at the same process conditions.The SCP compositional analysis indicated that the amount of non-essential amino acids was significantly higher than wheat flour.Furthermore,SCP enriched bread was prepared by adding SCP at different concentrations(0,4,8,and 12%).The organoleptic properties indicated that SCP addition up to 4%was acceptable to prepare protein enriched bread.Thus,SCP may be effectively used for food waste management and food security.Muhammad Kashif Iqbal Khan Muhammad Asif Zafar Ullah Razzaq Akmal Nazir Abid Aslam Maan 2022Food Bioscience2022,46,2:0

15Ensemble Deep Learning Framework for Situational Aspects-Based Annotation and Classification of International Student’s Tweets during COVID-19显示文摘As the COVID-19 pandemic swept the globe,social media plat-forms became an essential source of information and communication for many.International students,particularly,turned to Twitter to express their struggles and hardships during this difficult time.To better understand the sentiments and experiences of these international students,we developed the Situational Aspect-Based Annotation and Classification(SABAC)text mining framework.This framework uses a three-layer approach,combining baseline Deep Learning(DL)models with Machine Learning(ML)models as meta-classifiers to accurately predict the sentiments and aspects expressed in tweets from our collected Student-COVID-19 dataset.Using the pro-posed aspect2class annotation algorithm,we labeled bulk unlabeled tweets according to their contained aspect terms.However,we also recognized the challenges of reducing data’s high dimensionality and sparsity to improve performance and annotation on unlabeled datasets.To address this issue,we proposed the Volatile Stopwords Filtering(VSF)technique to reduce sparsity and enhance classifier performance.The resulting Student-COVID Twitter dataset achieved a sophisticated accuracy of 93.21%when using the random forest as a meta-classifier.Through testing on three benchmark datasets,we found that the SABAC ensemble framework performed exceptionally well.Our findings showed that international students during the pandemic faced various issues,including stress,uncertainty,health concerns,financial stress,and difficulties with online classes and returning to school.By analyzing and summarizing these annotated tweets,decision-makers can better understand and address the real-time problems international students face during the ongoing pandemic.Shabir Hussain Muhammad Ayoub Yang Yu Junaid Abdul Wahid Akmal Khan Dietmar P.F.Moller Hou Weiyan 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,6:0
16Estimation of soil carbon pools in the forests of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan显示文摘Forest soils have high carbon densities compared to other land-uses.Soil carbon sequestration is important to reduce CO 2 concentrations in the atmosphere.An eff ective climate change mitigation strategy involves limiting the emissions of greenhouse gases from soils.Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the most forested province of Pakistan,hosting about one-third of the country’s 4.5×106 ha forest area.Soil organic carbon in the province’s forests was estimated through a fi eld-based study carried out during 2014–17 covering the whole province.Data was collected from 373 sample plots laid out in diff erent forest types using a stratifi ed cluster sampling technique.The total quantity of soil organic carbon was estimated at 59.4×106 t with an average of 52.4±5.3 t/ha.About 69%of the total soil carbon is present in temperate forests.Subtropical broad-leaved and subtropical pine forests constitute 11.4%and 8.8%of the soil carbon stock respectively.Similarly,subalpine and oak forests have respective shares of 5.1%and 5.7%in the soil carbon pool.The lowest carbon stock(0.1%)was found in dry-tropical thorn forests.The highest soil carbon density was found in subalpine forests(69.5±7.2 t/ha)followed by moist temperate forests(68.5±6.7 t/ha)and dry temperate forests(60.7±6.5 t/ha).Oak forests have carbon density of 43.4±7.1 t/ha.Subtropical pine,subtropical broad-leaved and dry tropical thorn forests have soil carbon densities of 36.3±3.7,32.8±6.2 and 31.5±3.5 t/ha,respectively.The forests of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have substantial amounts of soil carbon which must be conserved for climate change mitigation and maintenance of sound forest health.Anwar Ali Muhammad Irfan Ashraf Saeed Gulzar Muhammad Akmal Bilal Ahmad 2020Journal of Forestry Research2020,31,6:0

19Land classification for choice of tree species on farm lands in the Attock District of Punjab, Pakistan显示文摘In Pakistan, particularly in Punjab Province, it is difficult for agrofarmers to combine their indigenous knowledge and modern scientific methods to evaluate existing traditional farming systems and forestry practices. This requires an evaluation of indigenous soil classification in simple terms along with knowledge of the local flora, especially trees. This study focuses on land suitability classification for trees in the Attock District of Punjab, Pakistan. A survey was conducted which included interviews of local agrofarmers as well as standard soil analyses including both chemical and physical determinations of local soil types. An evalu- ation of soil types for cultivation of various crops was carried out given its total extent, component soil series and their proportions, spotting characteristics of each soil series and their major limitations/hazards for trees/crops. These would lead to the identification of various tree species according to soil characteristics. Then, according to the soil types and species, a land suitability map was obtained for the choice of tree species by using geographic information system (GIS) software. 20Verification of Depth Adjustment Factor in Eurocode 5 for Tropical Hardwood Timbers显示文摘The depth adjustment factor for bending strength stated in Eurocode 5(EC5)is only applicable to timbers having a characteristic density below 700 kg/m^(3).However,most Malaysian timbers are hardwood,some with a characteristic density reaching above 700 kg/m^(3).Therefore,the objective of this study was to examine whether the depth adjustment factor stipulated in EC5 is valid for Malaysian hardwood timbers.Six timber species were selected for this study,namely Kapur(Dryobalanops C.F.Gaertn.),Kempas(Koompassia Maingay ex Benth.),Keruing(Dipterocarpus C.F.Gaertn.),Light red meranti(Shorea Roxb.ex C.F.Gaertn.),Geronggang(Cratoxylum Blume)and Balau(Shorea Roxb.ex C.F.Gaertn.).The determination of bending strength and characteristic density was conducted according to BS EN 408:2010 and BS EN 384:2016,respectively.A graph for mean bending strength vs.(150/h)was plotted for each timber species.The power function was selected to analyze the relationship between the two variables.The power of the regression equations varied depending on the characteristic density of the timber species.For species with a characteristic density below 700 kg/m^(3),such as Kapur,Keruing,and Light red meranti,the power was between 0.16 to 0.17.In contrast,for species having a characteristic density above 700 kg/m^(3),namely Kempas and Balau,the power was higher at 0.23 and 0.24,respectively.Geronggang was an exception to this pattern.These values are close to the depth adjustment factor given in EC5,which is 0.2.Based on the results,it can be suggested that the adjustment factor of 0.2 is also applicable to Malaysian hardwood timbers with a characteristic density above 700 kg/m^(3).Adnie Baharin Muhammad Amirul Akmal Rosli Norshariza Mohamad Bhkari Lum Wei Chen Anis Azmi Muhammad Shaiful Nordin Zakiah Ahmad 2023Journal of Renewable Materials2023,11,9:0
