| 1 | Structural, morphological, Raman, optical, magnetic, and antibacterial characteristics of CeO2 nanostructures显示文摘In this study, CeO_2 nanostructures were synthesized by a soft chemical method. A hydrothermal treatment was observed to lead to an interesting morphological transformation of the nanoparticles into homogeneous microspheres composed of nanosheets with an average thickness of 40 nm. Structural analysis revealed the formation of a single-phase cubic fluorite structure of CeO_2 for both samples. A Raman spectroscopic study confirmed the XRD results and furthermore indicated the presence of a large number of oxygen vacancies in the nanosheets. These oxygen vacancies led to room-temperature ferromagnetism(RTFM) of the CeO_2 nanosheets with enhanced magnetic characteristics. Amazingly, the nanosheets exhibited substantially greater antibacterial activity than the nanoparticles. | 2 | A review on application of dielectric barrier discharge plasma technology on the abatement of volatile organic compounds显示文摘Volatile organic compounds(VOCs)released from the waste treatment facilities have become a significant issue because they are not only causing odor nuisance but may also hazard to human health.Non-thermal plasma(NTP)technologies are newly developed methods and became a research trend in recent years regarding the removal of VOCs from the air stream.Due to its unique characteristics,such as rapid response at room temperature,bulk homogenized volume,high reaction efficiency,dielectric barrier discharge(DBD)plasma technology is considered one of the most promising techniques of NTP.This paper reviews recent progress of DBD plasma technology for abatement of VOCs.The principle of plasma generation in DBD and its configurations(electrode,discharge gap,dielectric barrier material,etc.)are discussed in details.Based on previously published literature,attention has been paid on the effect of DBD configuration on the removal of VOCs.Effect of various process parameters such as initial concentration,gas feeding rate,oxygen content and input power on VOCs removal are also considered.Moreover,the role of catalysis and inhibitors in VOCs removal by DBD system are presented.Finally,a modified configuration of the DBD reactor,i.e.double dielectric barrier discharge(DDBD)for the abatement of VOCs is discussed.It was suggested that the DDBD plasma reactor could be used for higher conversion efficiency as well as for avoiding solid residue deposition on the electrode.These depositions can interfere with the performance of the reactor. | Wenjing Lu Yawar Abbas Muhammad Farooq Mustafa Chao Pan Hongtao Wang | 2019 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2019,13,2: | 6 |
| 3 | 中国某高校留学生跨文化适应压力及其心理因素(英文)显示文摘目的调查留学生跨文化适应压力的检出率及其相关因素。同时了解留学生的生理、心理因素与社会适应及中国文化之间的相互作用。方法采用抑郁焦虑压力量表、修订版社会文化适应量表和留学生版跨文化适应量表调查某高校共100名来自9个不同国家的留学生。结果调查结果显示32%的留学生存在跨文化适应压力问题,排前两位的适应问题分别是思念家乡和饮食问题。同时,留学生也存在压力、抑郁和焦虑等心理问题,不同年级留学生的压力问题发生率分别为:大一9.6%、大二37.5%、大三10.6%、大四25%、大五25%。抑郁症状发生率分别为:大一28.6%、大二12.5%、大三5%、大四40%和大五31.2%。焦虑症状发生率分别为:大一52.3%、大二37.5%、大三12.1%、大四30%和大五28.1%。社会文化适应第一位障碍是语言问题,其次是留学生在中国文化下保留自己的风俗习惯和个人兴趣的问题。结论留学生的适应问题突出,高校有必要加强引导和制定相关政策,以便留学生更好的适应中国文化。 | Muhammad Zahid abbas 梁雪梅 刘可智 | 2014 | 四川精神卫生2014,27,2: | 6 |
| 4 | Microwave-assisted solvent extraction of castor oil from castor seeds显示文摘This study was aimed at evaluating the physicochemical properties and oxidation stability of castor oil using microwave-assisted solvent extraction(MAE). MAE was performed using 5% ethanol in hexane as solvent at different extraction times, power intensities and solvent-to-feed(S/F, ml of solvent to gram of feed) ratios.The process parameters were optimized by statistical approach using historical data design of response surface method(RSM). The oils were characterized for yield, physicochemical properties, dielectric properties and oxidation stability, and comparison was also made with oil extracted using Soxhlet method. Results show that the maximum oil yield of 37% was obtained at 20 min with microwave power intensity of 330 W and S/F ratio of 20. The main fatty acid composition of castor oil is ricinoleic acid. The density, refractive index, dielectric properties and oxidation stability of oils are not affected by the extraction methods and extraction parameters of MAE. However, the MAE-extracted oil is more viscous compared to that by Soxhlet method. | 5 | Gastric juice for the diagnosis of H pylori infection in patients on proton pump inhibitors显示文摘AIM: To determine the efficacy of gastric juice polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for the detection of H pylori infection in comparison with histology and gastric antral biopsy PCR in patients on a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). METHODS: Eighty-five consecutive patients with dyspeptic symptoms were enrolled. Gastric biopsies for histology, PCR and gastric juice were collected at endoscopy for PCR of the H pylori urease C gene (ure C). Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), accuracy, positive and negative likelihood ratio for PCR of gastric juice for the H pylori ure C gene was compared to histology and gastric antral biopsy H pylori ure C PCR in patients with and without PPI. RESULTS: Gastric juice PCR was positive in 66 (78%) patients. Histology showed H pylori associated gastritis in 57 (67%). Gastric biopsy PCR was positive in 72 (85%). In patients not taking PPI, the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV, accuracy and positive and negative likelihood ratio for gastric juice PCR were 89%, 72%, 91%, 67%, 90%, 85%, 3.1 and 0.1 respectively. In patients on PPI these values were 86%, 100%%, 100%, 29%, 86%, 9.5 and 1.4, respectively. CONCLUSION: Gastric juice PCR for the diagnosis of H pylori infection has increased sensitivity compared to histology with PPI. | 7 | Pam3CSK4 enhances adaptive immune responses to recombinant Mycobacterium bovis bacille Calmette-Guérin expressing Plasmodium falciparum C-terminus merozoite surface protein-1显示文摘Objective: To determine the effects of toll-like receptor 2(TLR-2) agonist, Pam3 CSK4, on cellular and humoral immune response against recombinant Mycobacterium bovis bacille Calmette-Guérin(rBCG) expressing the C-terminus of merozoite surface protein-1 of Plasmodium falciparum.Methods: Six groups of mice(n=6 per group) received intraperitoneal phosphate buffered saline T80(PBS-T80), BCG or rBCG in the presence or absence of Pam3 CSK4. Enzymelinked immunosorbent assay was carried out to measure serum total IgG, IgG1, IgG2 a, and Ig G2 b production. Spleens were also harvested and splenocytes were co-cultured with rBCG antigen for in vitro determination of IL-4 and IFN-γ via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Results: The production of total IgG and the isotype IgG1, IgG2 a and IgG2 b was significantly higher in rBCG-immunised mice than in the BCG and PBS-T80-immunised mice, and Pam3 CSK4 further enhanced their productions. A similar pattern was also observed in IFN-γ production. Moreover, there was no significant difference in IL-4 production in all groups either in the presence or absence of Pam3 CSK4.Conclusions: We present evidence of the adjuvant effects of TLR-2 agonist in enhancing the production of total IgG, IgG1, IgG2 a, IgG2 b, as well as IFN-γ in response to rBCG. | 9 | Orange dye polyaniline composite based impedance humidity sensors显示文摘This study presents the fabrication and investigation of humidity sensors based on orange dye (OD) and polyaniline (PANI) composite films. A blend of 3 wt.% OD with 1 wt.% PANI was prepared in 1 ml water. The composite films were deposited on glass substrates between pre-deposited silver electrodes. The gap between the electrodes was 45 μm. The sensing mechanism was based on the impedance and capacitance variations due to the absorption/desorption of water vapor. It was observed that with the increase in relative humidity (RH) from 30% to 90%, the impedance decreases by 5.2 × 10 4 and 8.8 × 10 3 times for the frequencies of 120 Hz and 1 kHz, respectively. The impedance-humidity relationship showed a more uniform change compared to the capacitance-humidity relationship in the RH range of 30% to 90%. The consequence of annealing, measuring frequency, response and recovery time, and absorption-desorption behavior of the humidity sensor were also discussed in detail. The annealing resulted in an increase in sensitivity of up to 2.5 times, while the measured response time and recovery time were 34 s and 450 s, respectively. | 18 | Effects of bismuth on structural and dielectric properties of cobalt-cadmium spinel ferrites fabricated via micro-emulsion route显示文摘Spinel ferrites have a significant role in high-tech applications.In the present work nano-crystalline ferrites having general formula Co0.5Cd0.5BixFe2-xO4 with(x=0.0,0.05,0.1,0.15,0.2,and 0.25)are synthesized via micro-emulsion route.Powder x-ray diffraction(XRD)studies discover the FCC spinel structure.Crystalline size is calculated in a range of 11 nm-15 nm.Lattice parameter calculations are reduced due to its substitution which leads to the exchange of large ionic radius of Fe^3+for small ionic radius of Bi^3+.The x-ray density is analyzed to increase with doping.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)is performed to analyze absorption band spectra.The two absorption bands are observed in a range of 400 cm^-1-600 cm^-1,and they are the characteristic feature of spinel structure.Thermo-gravimetric analysis(TGA)reveals the total weight loss of nearly 1.98%.Dielectric analysis is carried out by impedance analyzer in a frequency span from 1 MHz to 3 GHz by using the Maxwell Wagner model.Dielectric studies reveal the decrease of dielectric parameters.The alternating current(AC)conductivity exhibits a plane behavior in a low frequency range and it increases with the applied frequency increasing.This is attributed to the grain effects in a high frequency range or may be due to the reduction of porosity.Real and imaginary part of impedance show the decreasing trend which corresponds to the grain boundary action.The imaginary modulus shows the occurrence of peak that helps to understand the interfacial polarization.Cole-Cole graph shows a single semicircle which confirms that the conduction mechanism is due to the grain boundaries at low frequency.Dielectric studies reveal the applicability of these ferrites in high frequency equipment,microwave applications,high storage media,and semiconductor devices. | Furhaj Ahmed Sheikh Muhammad Khalid Muhammad Shahzad Shifa H M Noor ul Huda Khan Asghar Sameen Aslam Ayesha Perveen Jalil ur Rehman Muhammad Azhar Khan Zaheer Abbas Gilani | 2019 | Chinese Physics B2019,28,8: | 1 |
