3Anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities with gastroprotective effect of semi-purified fractions and isolation of pure compounds from Mediterranean gorgonian Eunicella singularis显示文摘Objective: To explore anti-inflammatory activities of organic extract and its semi-purified fractions(ethanol, acetone, methanol/dichloromethane) from the Mediterranean gorgonian Eunicella singularis. Methods: The anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities were evaluated, using the carrageenan-induced rat paw edema model and the acetic acid writhing test in mice. The gastroprotective activity was determined using HCl/Et OH induced gastric ulcers in rats. The purification and structure elucidation of compound(s) from the more effective fraction were determined by chromatographic and spectroscopic methods and in comparison with data reported in the literature. Results: The fraction F-Et OH showed an important antiinflammatory activity associated with significant analgesic and gastroprotective properties. The purification and structure elucidation of compound(s) from this fraction lead to the identification of one diterpenoid and four sterols. 5Physiological, histopathological and cellular immune effects of Pergularia tomentosa extract on Locusta migratoria nymphs显示文摘The migratory locust Locusta migratoria(Orthoptera,Acrididae)is one of the most important pests due to its extensive and severe damage to crops in large parts of Africa and Asia.Biodegradable and ecologically natural products such as bota nical insecticides are emergi ng can didates for replaceme nt of usually applied chemical pesticides.The crude methanolic extract of Pergularia tomentosa(PME)was investigated for their toxicity and physiological aspects on L.migratoria nymphs.Results showed that treatment of newly emerged fourth and fifth instar nymphs resulted in significant mortality and significant repellent activity with an LC50 value of 0.18 and 0.38%,respectively,after seven days of treatment.The PME toxicity was also dem on strated by histopathological cha nges in the alime ntary canal resulting in con siderable disorganization and severe damage of the caeca and proventriculus structure.The extract induced cellular immune reactions which manifested by a significant decrease in the number of the differential haemocyte counts(prohemocytes and plasmatocytes)and important cell lysis.Data of biochemical analyses showed that the PME reduced the activity of acetylcholinesterase and induced the glutathione S-transferases.The neurotoxic effect was confirmed by the histological alterations in the brain structure,particularly in the neurosecretory cells showing typical signs of cell necrosis.Meriam Miladi Khemais Abdellaoui Amel Ben Hamouda Iteb Boughattas Mouna Mhafdhi Fatma Acheuk Monia Ben Halima-Kamel 2019Journal of Integrative Agriculture2019,18,12:2
6Reduction and carburization of iron oxides for Fischer–Tropsch synthesis显示文摘The activation of iron oxide Fischer–Tropsch Synthesis(FTS) catalysts was investigated during pretreatment: reduction in hydrogen followed by carburization in either CO or syngas mixture, or simultaneously reduction and carburization in syngas. A combination of different complementary in situ techniques was used to gain insight into the behavior of Fe-based FTS catalysts during activation. In situ XRD was used to identify the crystalline structures present during both reduction in hydrogen and carburization. An increase in reduction rate was established when increasing the temperature. A complete reduction was demonstrated in the ETEM and a grain size dependency was proven, i.e. bigger grains need higher temperature in order to reduce. 7Contribution of microbial phytases to the improvement of plant growth and nutrition: A review显示文摘Phytases belong to the class of phosphohydrolases that begin the step-wise hydrolysis of phosphates from phytates. Phytates are a derivative of myo-inositol, which is the primary storage form of organic phosphorus in plant cells. Phytase has been used globally to diminish phosphorus pollution and to enhance nutrition in monogastrics. In this review, the classification, sources, and diversity of microbial phytases, and their practical applications, as well as supplementation of the soil with transgenic and wild types of microbial strains, which can release phytase to enhance phosphorus availability for plant uptake and reduce the need for fertilizers, are discussed. The overexpressed microbial phytases in transgenic plants enhance the growth capacity of co-cultivated plants and can therefore be employed in agricultural and biotechnological practices, such as intercropping. The introduction of phytases into the soil for improved plant growth and enhanced crop yield can be accomplished without extra cost.
