| 1 | Component analysis of Chinese medicine and advances in fuming-washing therapy for knee osteoarthritis via unsupervised data mining methods显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To analyze the component law of Chinese medicines in fuming-washing therapy for knee osteoarthritis(KOA), and develop new fuming-washing prescriptions for KOA through unsupervised data mining methods.METHODS: Chinese medicine recipes for fuming-washing therapy for KOA were collected and recorded in a database. The correlation coefficient among herbs, core combinations of herbs, andnew prescriptions were analyzed using modified mutual information, complex system entropy cluster, and unsupervised hierarchical clustering, respectively.RESULTS: Based on analysis of 345 Chinese medicine recipes for fuming-washing therapy, 68 herbs occurred frequently, 33 herb pairs occurred frequently, and 12 core combinations were found.Five new fuming-washing recipes for KOA were developed.CONCLUSION: Chinese medicines for fuming-washing therapy of KOA mainly consist of wind-dampness-dispelling and cold-dispersing herbs, blood-activating and stasis-resolving herbs,and wind-dampness-dispelling and heat-clearing herbs. The treatment of fuming-washing therapy for KOA also includes dispelling wind-dampness and dispersing cold, activating blood and resolving stasis, and dispelling wind-dampness and clearing heat. | 2 | The South China Sea is not a mini-Atlantic: plate-edge rifting vs intra-plate rifting显示文摘The South China Sea,as‘a non-volcanic passive margin basin’in the Pacific,has often been considered as a small-scale analogue of the Atlantic.The recent ocean drilling in the northern South China Sea margin found,however,that the Iberian model of non-volcanic rifted margin from the Atlantic does not apply to the South China Sea.In this paper,we review a variety of rifted basins and propose to discriminate two types of rifting basins:plate-edge type such as the South China Sea and intra-plate type like the Atlantic.They not only differ from each other in structure,formation process,lifespan and geographic size,but also occur at different stages of the Wilson cycle.The intra-plate rifting occurred in the Mesozoic and gave rise to large oceans,whereas the plate-edge rifting took place mainly in the mid-Cenozoic,with three-quarters of the basins concentrated in the Western Pacific.As a member of the Western Pacific system of marginal seas,the South China Sea should be studied not in isolation on its origin and evolution,but in a systematic context to include also its neighboring counterparts. | Pinxian Wang Chi-Yue Huang Jian Lin Zhimin Jian Zhen Sun Minghui Zhao | 2019 | National Science Review2019,6,5: | 24 |
| 3 | Femtosecond Laser Precision Engineering: From Micron, Submicron, to Nanoscale显示文摘As a noncontact strategy with flexible tools and high efficiency,laser precision engineering is a significant advanced processing way for high-quality micro-/nanostructure fabrication,especially to achieve novel functional photoelectric structures and devices.For the microscale creation,several femtosecond laser fabrication methods,including multiphoton absorption,laserinduced plasma-assisted ablation,and incubation effect have been developed.Meanwhile,the femtosecond laser can be combined with microlens arrays and interference lithography techniques to achieve the structures in submicron scales.Down to nanoscale feature sizes,advanced processing strategies,such as near-field scanning optical microscope,atomic force microscope,and microsphere,are applied in femtosecond laser processing and the minimum nanostructure creation has been pushed down to~25 nm due to near-field effect.The most fascinating femtosecond laser precision engineering is the possibility of large-area,high-throughput,and far-field nanofabrication.In combination with special strategies,including dual femtosecond laser beam irradiation,~15 nm nanostructuring can be achieved directly on silicon surfaces in far field and in ambient air.The challenges and perspectives in the femtosecond laser precision engineering are also discussed. | Zhenyuan Lin Minghui Hong | 2021 | Ultrafast Science2021,,1: | 13 |
| 4 | Genetic and biological characteristics of the globally circulating H5N8 avian influenza viruses and the protective efficacy offered by the poultry vaccine currently used in China显示文摘The H5N8 avian influenza viruses have been widely circulating in wild birds and are responsible for the loss of over 33 million domestic poultry in Europe, Russia, Middle East, and Asia since January 2020. To monitor the invasion and spread of the H5N8 virus in China, we performed active surveillance by analyzing 317 wild bird samples and swab samples collected from 41,172 poultry all over the country. We isolated 22 H5N8 viruses from wild birds and 14 H5N8 viruses from waterfowls. Genetic analysis indicated that the 36 viruses formed two different genotypes: one genotype viruses were widely detected from different wild birds and domestic waterfowls;the other genotype was isolated from a whopper swan. We further revealed the origin and spatiotemporal spread of these two distinct H5N8 virus genotypes in 2020 and 2021. Animal studies indicated that the H5N8 isolates are highly pathogenic to chickens, mildly pathogenic in ducks, but have distinct pathotypes in mice. Moreover, we found that vaccinated poultry in China could be completely protected against H5N8 virus challenge. | 8 | The significance of proto-oncogene HGF/SF receptor c-Met mRNA expression in nasopharyngeal carcinoma显示文摘Objective: To explore the expression of c-Met mRNA in nasopharyngeal carcinomas (NPC) and its relation with clinical biological behavior. Methods: In situ hybridisation was used to detect mRNA expression of c-Met in 15 cases of non-tumor nasopharyngeal (NP), 55 cases of NPC. Results: The positive rates of c-Met mRNA in NP and NPC cells were 13.3% (2/15) and 61.8% (34/55) respectively. The expression of c-Met mRNA was significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis, local invasion (skull base erosion), and clinical stage. In cases with cervical lymph node metastasis, local invasion, and clinical stage III and IV (UICC), the positive rates of expression of c-Met mRNA were significantly higher than that in those without the conditions mentioned above (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). But it was not significantly correlated with age, gender, histo- logic grade, and cranial nerve palsy (P > 0.05). Conclusion: The abnormal expression of c-Met gene was well correlated with the biological behavior of metastasis and invasion. To detection the expression of c-Met mRNA could serve as an important index to estimate the prognosis of NPC. | 11 | Spatial and temporal variability of colored dissolved organic matter absorption properties in the Taiwan Strait显示文摘Spatial and temporal variability of the absorption properties of colored dissolved organic matter (CDOM) in the Taiwan Strait was investigated in summer (July to August of 2006) and winter (from December 2006 to January of 2007) seasons. The CDOM absorption coefficient at 280 nm (a 280 ) showed a decreasing trend from nearshore to offshore areas while the spectral slope coefficient parameter calculated between wavelengths 275-295 nm (S 275 295 ) showed an increase, indicative of decreasing aromaticity and molecular weight of the CDOM. The average a 280 in winter (1.47 ± 0.50 m 1 ) was significantly higher than in summer (1.10 ± 0.41 m 1 ), while the average S 275 295 in winter (26.7 ± 5.2 μm 1 ) was significantly lower than in summer (30.6 ± 5.5 μm 1 ), demonstrating clear seasonal variation in CDOM abundance and properties in the Taiwan Strait. A three-end- member conservative mixing model showed that local terrestrial CDOM inputs from several rivers along the western coast were small (<5%). However, the distribution of CDOM in the Taiwan Strait is mainly controlled by water mass movement [i.e., the Zhe-min Coastal Current (ZCC) and the Kuroshio Branch Current (KBC) in winter and the South China Sea Water (SCSW) in summer]. | 12 | STUDY ON TYPHOON DISASTER LOSS AND RISK PREDICTION AND BENEFIT ASSESSMENT OF DISASTER PREVENTION AND MITIGATION显示文摘Based on the meteorological monitoring data of Typhoon Nesat and Haitang in Fujian Province in 2017, the data of the typhoon disaster situation and third-party evaluation of typhoon disaster prevention and mitigation benefit were investigated. By using the mean value anomaly estimation method in the similarity analysis method, it is estimated that typhoon Nesat and Haitang will cause direct economic losses of 0.8 ~ 1.8 billion yuan, and the typhoon disaster risk index evaluation model is used. The disaster risk pre-assessment of Typhoon Nesat and Haitang is carried out. The results of the study and analysis show that the pre-assessment results of Typhoon Nesat and Haitang are basically consistent with the actual disaster situation. The disaster loss was reduced to the minimum. According to the third party evaluation and investigation, it was concluded that the contribution rate of reducing economic benefits was 75% in Fujian Province for preventing and landing double typhoons Nesat and Haitang. Mainly reflected in the ship return to the port to avoid the wind, geological hazards prone to the site construction and cage culture danger removal reinforcement and other links; The contribution rate of reducing casualties is 86, mainly reflected in fishermen disembarkation and personnel transfer to safety emergency shelter and other links. The benefit of this double typhoon disaster prevention and mitigation in Fujian Province is about 0.6 billion yuan to reduce the direct economic loss. | 16 | Genome-wide association mapping of stress-tolerance traits in cotton显示文摘Environmental stresses severely impair cotton production worldwide. To identify the genetic basis of, and molecular markers associated with, environmental stresses such as salt, cold and Verticillium wilt, association mapping of salt-, cold-, and disease-tolerance traits was performed in a population of 503 upland cotton accessions using 179 polymorphic SSR markers and 11,975 array-derived SNP markers. Salt and cold tolerance was evaluated via the relative germination rate(RGR) of the seeds under seven and four environments, respectively. The disease index of Verticillium wilt was investigated for two years in the field in Xinjiang. These three traits showed large variation across environments. A genome-wide association study revealed that 31, 19, and 15 SSR markers were associated with RGR-Salt(the relative germination rates of seeds under salt stress),RGR-Cold(the relative germination rates of seeds under cold stress), and DIV(the disease index of Verticillium wilt), respectively. Six SNPs in seven environments and two SNPs in BLUP(best linear unbiased prediction) results were associated with RGR-Salt, and the phenotypic variance explained ranged from 3.96 to 5.00%. Two SNPs(i02237 Gh, i02243 Gh)on D01 were concluded to be stable genetic loci associated with RGR-Salt. A total of 223 genes were found in a candidate gene interval(D01, 37771–1942912). Of these four genes,GhPIP3A, GhSAG29, GhTZF4, and GhTZF4a, showed expression changes in sensitive and tolerant genotype accessions under salt stress, and were assigned as candidate genes associated with RGR-Salt. | 20 | A New Multi-Resource Allocation Mechanism: A Tradeoff between Fairness and Efficiency in Cloud Computing显示文摘This paper addresses multi-resource fair allocation: a fundamental research topic in cloud computing. To improve resource utilization under well-studied fairness constraints, we propose a new allocation mechanism called Dominant Resource with Bottlenecked Fairness(DRBF), which generalizes Bottleneck-aware Allocation(BAA) to the settings of Dominant Resource Fairness(DRF). We classify users into different queues by their dominant resources. The goals are to ensure that users in the same queue receive allocations in proportion to their fair shares while users in different queues receive allocations that maximize resource utilization subject to well-studied fairness properties such as those in DRF. Under DRBF, no user 1) is worse off sharing resources than dividing resources equally among all users; 2) prefers the allocation of another user; 3) can improve their own allocation without reducing other users' allocations; and(4) can benefit by misreporting their resource demands.
