Effects of feed form and feed particle size on growth performance, carcass characteristics and digestive tract development of broilers显示文摘This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of feed form(mash and crumble-pellet) and feed particle size(fine, medium and coarse) on growth performance, carcass characteristics and digestive tract development of broilers. A total of 1,152 one day-old Ross 308 mixed-sex broilers were used in a factorial arrangement(2×3) based on a completely randomized design with six replicates of 32 birds each.Higher average daily gain(ADG) and average daily feed intake(ADFI) were observed(P < 0.01) for birds fed the crumble-pellet diets(CPD) than for those fed the mash diets(MD) during starter, grower and the entire experiment period. From d 1 to 40, birds fed CPD had a higher(P < 0.01) body weight(BW) than those fed MD. Birds fed CPD had a lower(P < 0.01) feed:gain ratio(F:G) during the starter phase than those fed MD. Medium or coarse particle size increased(P < 0.01) ADG and ADFI during the starter phase, but birds fed fine particle size diets had lower(P < 0.01) F:G during the grower phase. In MD,medium and coarse particle sizes resulted in higher(P < 0.05) BW, ADG and ADFI than fine particle size during the whole experiment. In CPD, particle size had no significant effect on growth performance, as indicated by a feed form × particle size interaction(P < 0.05). At 41 days of age, ten birds per treatment were randomly selected and killed for slaughter yields and digestive tract characteristics determination. It was shown that particle size and feed form alone had no significant effect on slaughter yields, so changes was the feed form × particle size interaction. The relative empty weight of the gizzard was greater(P < 0.01) and the relative length of the ileum was longer(P < 0.05) in birds fed MD than in those fed CPD. Overall, CPD improved growth performance during the entire period of the study with effects being less evident during the finisher phase than during the starter and grower phases, and the effect of feed particle size varied depending on feed form. | Mingbin Lv Lei Yan Zhengguo Wang Sha An Miaomiao Wu Zunzhou Lv | 2015 | Animal Nutrition2015,,3: | 7

Small-molecule inhibitor LF3 restrains the development of pulmonary hypertension through the Wnt/β-catenin pathway显示文摘Pulmonary hypertension(PH)associated with congenital heart disease is a progressive hemodynamic disease that can lead to increased pulmonary vascular resistance, vascular remodeling, and even right heart failure and death.LF3 is a novel inhibitor of the reporter gene activity ofβ-catenin/TCF4 interaction in the Wnt/β-catenin signal pathway. However, whether this action of LF3 can prevent PH development remains unclear. In this study,we investigated the therapeutic effect of LF3 in rat primary pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells(PASMCs)of the PH model. We found that LF3 inhibited the decrease in pulmonary artery acceleration time and ejection time by ultra-high-resolution ultrasound imaging and blocked the increase of pulmonary artery systolic pressure by using the BL420 biological function experimental system and right ventricular hypertrophy index by the electronic scales.Simultaneously,it prevented the increase ofα-smooth muscle actin and fibronectin and the decrease of elastin in pulmonary arteries of rats in the PH group,as revealed by an immunohistochemical analysis. Moreover, cell proliferation and migration assays showed that LF3 significantly reduced the proliferation and migration of PASMCs.Western blotting and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction analyses revealed that LF3 suppressed the expression of proliferating cell nuclear antigens and Bcl-2 and increased the expression of Bax but did not alter the expressions ofβ-catenin and TCF4.Taken together,LF3 can reduce the migration and proliferation of PASMCs and induce their apoptosis to prevent the development of PH.It would be worthwhile to explore the potential use of LF3 in the treatment of PH. | Yong Lei Qi Yang Yongmei Nie Juyi Wan Mingbin Deng | 2021 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,10: | 2
Spatial variability and temporal stability of actual evapotranspiration on a hillslope of the Chinese Loess Plateau显示文摘Actual evapotranspiration(ETa)is a key component of water balance. This study aimed to investigate the spatial variability and time stability of ETa along a hillslope and to analyze the key factors that control the spatiotemporal variability of ETa.The potential evaporation, surface runoff and 0–480 cm soil water profile were measured along a 243 m long transect on a hillslope of the Loess Plateau during the normal(2015)and wet(2016)water years.ETa was calculated using water balance equation. Results indicated that increasing precipitation during the wet water year did not alter the spatial pattern of ETa along the hillslope;time stability analysis showed that a location with high time stability of ETa could be used to estimate the mean ETa of the hillslope.Time stability of ETa was positively correlated with elevation(P<0.05),indicating that,on a hillslope in a semi-arid area, elevation was the primary factor influencing the time stability of ETa. | ZHANG Yongkun HUANG Mingbin | 2021 | Journal of Arid Land2021,13,2: | 2

Real-time dynamics and cross-correlation gating spectroscopy of free-carrier Drude slow-light solitons显示文摘Optical solitons—stable waves balancing delicately between nonlinearities and dispersive effects—have advanced the field of ultrafast optics and dynamics, with contributions spanning from supercontinuum generation to soliton fission, optical event horizons,Hawking radiation and optical rogue waves, among others. Here,we investigate picojoule soliton dynamics in silicon slow-light,photonic-bandgap waveguides under the influence of Drude-modeled,free-carrier-induced nonlinear effects.Using real-time and single-shot amplified dispersive Fourier transform spectroscopy simultaneously with high-fidelity cross-correlation frequency resolved optical gating at femtojoule sensitivity and femtosecond resolution,we examine the soliton stability limits, the soliton dynamics including free-carrier quartic slow-light scaling and acceleration, and the Drude electron–hole plasma-induced perturbations in the Cherenkov radiation and modulation instability. Our real-time single-shot and time-averaged cross-correlation measurements are matched with our detailed theoretical modeling, examining the reduced group velocity free-carrier kinetics on solitons at the picojoule scale. | Heng Zhou Shu-Wei Huang Xiujian Li James F McMillan Chi Zhang Kenneth Kin-Yip Wong Mingbin Yu Guo-Qiang Lo Dim-Lee Kwong Kun Qiu Chee Wei Wong | 2017 | Light(Science & Applications)2017,6,1: | 1

Prognostic Role and Potential Mechanisms of N6-methyladenosine-related Long Noncoding RNAs in Hepatocellular Carcinoma显示文摘Background and Aims:Numerous studies have explored the important role of N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A)in cancer.Nonetheless, the interaction between m^(6)A and long noncoding RNAs(lncRNAs)is poorly investigated.Herein,we systematically analyzed the role and prognostic value of m^(6)A-related lncRNAs in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods:The m^(6)A-related lncRNAs were identified based on the correlation coefficients with m^(6)A-related genes in HCC from The Cancer Genome Atlas.Subsequently,a novel risk score model was determined using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator Cox regression analyses.Univariate and multivariate Cox analyses were used to identify independent prog-nostic factors for overall survival(OS)of HCC;thereafter,a prognostic nomogram was constructed. Results:A total of 259 lncRNAs showed significant correlations with m^(6)A in HCC,while 29 lncRNAs had prognostic significance.Further, six critical m^(6)A-related lncRNAs(NRAV,SNHG3,KDM4A-AS1,AC074117.1,AC025176.1,and AL031985.3)were screened out to construct a novel risk score model which classified HCC patients into high-and low-risk groups.Survival analy-ses revealed that patients in the high-risk group exhibited worse OS,both in the training and validation groups. The risk score was also identified as an independent prognostic factor of OS,and a nomogram was established and verified with superior prediction capacity.Besides, the risk score signifi-cantly correlated with the expression of immune checkpoint genes and immune subtypes. Conclusions:These findings indicated the significant role of m^(6)A-related lncRNAs in HCC and the potential application of the novel risk score model for prognostic prediction. | Tianxing Dai Jing Li Linsen Ye Haoyuan Yu Mingbin Deng Wei Liu Hua Li Yang Yang Guoying Wang | 2022 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2022,10,2: | 1
