| 1 | The δ^(18)O variation of a stalagmite from Qixing Cave,Guizhou Province and indi-cated climate change during the Holocene显示文摘A stalagmite from Qixing Cave, Guizhou Province was dated with the TIMS U-series method and its oxygen isotope composition was analyzed. On the basis of the ages and the variations of the δ18O of the stalagmite, the climate change of the last 7.7 ka has been reconstructed in this area: 7.7-5.8 ka, summer monsoon maximum period; 5.8-3.8 ka summer monsoon weakening period; 3.8-0.15 ka, weakened summer monsoon and high amplitude climate fluctuations period. We put forward that the increasing trend of δ18O of the stalagmite reflected not only the weakening of the summer monsoon, which was caused by the decreasing of solar radiation in the Northern Hemisphere, but also the possibly decreasing contribution of the southwest monsoon to the rainfall of this area. These results are consistent with the output of the numerical climate-model modeling. | 3 | Developing Hybrid cell-edge and cell-node Dissipative Compact Scheme for Complex Geometry Flows显示文摘Developing high resolution finite difference scheme and enabling the use of this scheme on complex geometry are the aims of this study.High resolution has been achieved by Dissipative Compact Schemes(DCS),however,according to the recent research,applications of DCS on complex geometry may have serious problem for that the Geometric Conservation Law(GCL)is not satisfied,and this may cause numerical instability.To cope with this problem,a new scheme named Hybrid cell-edge and cell-node Dissipative Compact Scheme(HDCS)has been formulated.The formulation of the HDCS contains two steps.First,a new central compact scheme is formulated for the purpose of conveniently fulfilling the GCL,and then dissipation is added on the central scheme by high-order dissipative interpolation of cell-edge variables.The solutions of Euler and Navier-Stokes equations show that the HDCS can be applied successfully on complex geometry,while the DCS may suffer numerical instabilities.Moreover,high resolution of the HDCS may be observed in the test of scattering of acoustic waves by multiple cylinders. | DENG XiaoGang JIANG Yi MAO MeiLiang LIU HuaYong TU GuoHua | 2013 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,10: | 10 |
| 4 | The record of paleoclimatic change from stalagmites and the determination of termination II in the south of Guizhou Province, China显示文摘A high-resolution climate record from 163.00 kaBP to 113.80 kaBP has been obtained through TIMS-U series dating and carbon and oxygen isotope analysis of the three large stalagmites from two caves in the south of Guizhou Province, China. The record of the oxygen isotopes from the stalagmites reveals that the undulation characteristics between the cooling event of the glacial period and the warming event of the interglacial period in the research area can compare well to those of ice cores, lake sediments, loess and deep sea sediments on the scale of ten-thousand years or millennium time scale. The climate undulation provided by the record of the stalagmites has a coherence with the global changes and a tele-connection to the paleoclimate changes in the north polar region. Our results suggest that the direct dynamics of paleo-monsoon circulation changes reflected in the record of the stalagmites might be caused by changes of the global ice volume, and in turn related to various factors, including the solar radiation strength at the mid-latitudes in the Northern Hemisphere, the southern extension of the ice-rafted event in the North Atlantic, and changes of the equatorial Pacific sea surface temperature at the low-latitudes. Using δ18O values, we have calculated the temperatures and the results show that the temperature difference between the penultimate glacial period (with an average temperature of 8.1℃, and a minimum temperature range from 0.65℃ to -1.43℃ at stage 6 ) and the last interglacial period (with an average temperature of 18.24℃ at sub-stage 5e ) was about 10℃. This temperature difference from the record of the stalagmites corresponds in general to the record temperature variation (about 10℃) of measured ice cores. The climate records from the three stalagmites in the two caves have shown that the circulation strength of the Asian summer monsoon and the winter monsoon in the penultimate glacial period and the last interglacial period had a clear change. With the TIMS-U series method, termination II of the penultimate glacial period has been precisely dated at an age of (129.28±1.10) kaBP for the three stalagmites in the south of Guizhou Province, China. This borderline age represents the beginning of the last interglacial period or the boundary between the Middle Pleistocene and the Late Pleistocene, and corresponds to the beginning age of the last interglacial period shown by the ice cores and in the SPECMAP curve of the marine oxygen isotopes. | 5 | Validation of a RANS transition model using a high-order weighted compact nonlinear scheme显示文摘A modified transition model is given based on the shear stress transport (SST) turbulence model and an intermittency transport equation. The energy gradient term in the original model is replaced by flow strain rate to saving computational costs. The model employs local variables only, and then it can be conveniently implemented in modern computational fluid dynamics codes. The fifth-order weighted compact nonlinear scheme and the fourth-order staggered scheme are applied to discrete the governing equations for the purpose of minimizing discretization errors, so as to mitigate the confusion between numerical errors and transition model errors. The high-order package is compared with a second-order TVD method on simulating the transitional flow of a flat plate. Numerical results indicate that the high-order package give better grid convergence property than that of the second-order method. | 16 | An internal cooling grinding wheel:From design to application显示文摘The cooling and lubrication conditions during the grinding process significantly impact the nickel-based superalloy’s final service performance.The existing jet cooling and heat pipe technology can solve the heat conduction problem in the grinding process of superalloy.Still,managing cooling,lubrication,and chip removal are difficult.This paper describes the design and fabrication of a novel central fluid-through internal cooling slotted grinding wheel with an ordered grain pattern to improve the grinding machinability of a nickel-based superalloy.The pressurized grinding fluid was ejected into the grinding zone via the pipe and tool holder from the lower-end face of the inner cooling wheel.The structure of the grinding wheel was optimized using computational fluid dynamics(CFD).The flow field in the grinding area achieved the highest overall flow rate,distribution homogeneity,and effective exit flow when the internal flow channel had four throughholes.The exit for the inner runner is located at the abrasive edge and diamond staggered pattern.Single-layer brazing was used to create cubic boron nitride(CBN)abrasive rings with various abrasive patterns.The internal cooling wheel matrix and various components were prepared according to the optimized grinding wheel geometry model.A grinding test bench was built to conduct an experimental study of grinding the nickel-based alloy GH4169.The results show that,under the same conditions,a diamond-shaped staggered pattern obtains lower grinding temperature,lower surface roughness,better surface morphology,and more significant residual compressive stress distribution than an abrasive cluster diagonal circular staggered pattern or disordered pattern.The average effective flow rate calculated by CFD is increased by 42.3%when compared to the disordered pattern.In the experiment,compared to the disordered arrangement,with the increase of grinding wheel’s rotating speed and coolant pressure,the average grinding temperature of abrasive grain with diamond-interleaved arrangement decreases by 58.2%and 51.7%respectively,and its surface hardening degree decreases by 11.1%and 11.7%respectively. | Xiangwu XIAO Yufeng JIN Meiliang CHEN Ruitao PENG Heng TANG Jiangxiong GAO | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2023,36,11: | 1 |
