| 2 | Vegetation structural characteristics and topographic factors in the remnant moist Afromontane forest of Wondo Genet, south central Ethiopia显示文摘For forest ecosystem management to be effective, knowledge of the horizontal and vertical structural diversity of a forest is essential. The moist Afromontane highlands of Wondo Genet in south-central Ethiopia present an opportunity to restore and rehabilitate and enhance the ecosystem services to be obtained from this forest sustainably. We focused on the forest structural characteristics to better understand the current forest conditions to assist in the sustainable management of this resource. A total of 75 (20 m × 20 m) quadrats were sampled and diameter at breast height (DBH)≥2 cm and stem height≥2 m were measured. Species identity and abundance, elevation, slope, and aspect were recorded for each plot. Structural characteristics were computed for each plot. Relationship of topographic factors with vegetation characteristics was conducted using R-Software. A total of 72 woody species was recorded. Whereas, the overall diameter distribution shows an inverted J-shaped curve, the basal area followed a bell-shaped pattern. Five types of population structures are revealed. The mean tree density and basal area was 397.3 stems ha-1 and 31.4 m2·ha-1 , respectively. Only 2.8% of the tree species have densities of≥25 stems ha-1 and the percentage distribution of trees show 56.2% in the DBH class 2-10 cm, indicating that the forest is dominated by medium-sized trees. Celtis africana (8.81 m2·ha-1 ) and Pouteria adolfi-friedericii (5.13 m2·ha-1 ) make the highest contribution to the basal area and species importance value index. The families/species with the highest importance value index are Ulmaceae, Fabacea and Sapotaceae. Species abundance (r2 = 0.32, p <0.001) and species richness (r2 =0.50, p <0.001) are positively related with tree density. Tree density is negatively related with elevation (r2 = -0.36, p <0.001), slope (r2 =-0.15, p <0.001) and aspect (r2 = -0.07, p <0.05). While basal area is negatively related with elevation (r2 =-0.14, p <0.001), it has a positive relationship with tree density (r2 =0.28, p <0.001 and species richness (r2 =0.098). | 3 | Longevity of Juniperus procera seed lots under different storage conditions: implications for ex situ conservation in seed banks显示文摘Juniperus procera Endl. is economically important timber species, but its populations are extremely small and fragmented in its natural habitat, thus, calling for immediate ex situ conservation. Here we examined the effects of seed sources and storage temperature on the longevity of Juniperus procera seed lots through collection and preservation of seeds in seed banks. Seeds were collected from nine sites across the species natural distribution in Ethiopia and stored in four warehouses: modern cold room (5℃), mud house (15℃), concrete block house (17℃ or corrugated iron house (20℃) for 42 months. Every three months, a random sample of stored seeds were drawn and tested for germination. A highly significant variation (p < 0.01) in germination of stored seeds was observed among different storage environments, seed lots, and duration of storage. Over the storage period, seeds stored in the cold room had the highest mean percentage germination, followed by the mud house, corrugated house and blocket house. The cold room (41%) and the mud house (38%) maintained the same level of germination as the intitial germination of the seedlotds (42%). The variation in longevity of stored seeds was significnatly correlated with the initial germination of seed lots (r > 0.80; p < 0.01). Cold storage also resulted in enhancement of germination through its stratification effect that terminated the non-deepphysiological dormancy of juniper seeds. In conclusion, seed lots with good initial germination can be effectively stored in cold room (5℃) up to four years. | 4 | 电子鼻同步检测花生霉菌及霉菌毒素显示文摘利用电子鼻技术,建立了花生受不同霉菌感染后的霉变程度及毒素含量的同步快速检测方法。花生经辐照灭菌后接种5种常见霉菌(3种产毒菌株、2种非产毒菌株),于培养箱(26℃、相对湿度80%)中培养6 d。每天取出不同霉菌污染的样品采集电子鼻信号,同时测定其菌落总数和黄曲霉毒素B_(1)(aflatoxin B_(1),AFB_(1))含量,建立不同霉菌感染下霉变程度及毒素含量定性判别模型。主成分分析结果显示不同霉菌污染下有一定的聚类趋势,且污染样品位于可接受样品的上方;利用线性判别分析和偏最小二乘判别分析整体准确率达到80%以上,其中根据产毒菌株和非产毒菌株分类正确率高于95.7%,根据AFB_(1)含量分类正确率90%以上,根据菌落总数分类正确率较低。所有模型中假阴性均低于17%。因此,电子鼻技术对不同霉菌感染下的霉变程度及毒素含量的测定具有可行性。未来研究应继续扩大样品数量,补充受其他更多霉菌侵染及不同品种的花生样品,同时考虑实际情况,以提高模型的准确性和稳定性。 | 王蓓 沈飞 何学明 蒋雪松 袁建 方勇 胡秋辉 邱伟芬 MAMO Firew Tafesse | 2022 | 食品科学2022,43,12: | 5 |
