| 1 | Groundwater quality and land use change in a typical karst agricultural region:a case study of Xiaojiang watershed,Yunnan显示文摘Taking the typical karst agricultural region, Xiaojiang watershed in Luxi of Yunnan Province as a research unit, utilizing the groundwater quality data in 1982 and 2004, the aerial photos in 1982 and TM images in 2004, supported by the GIS, we probe into the law and the reason of its space-time change of the groundwater quality over the past 22 years in the paper. The results show: (1) There were obvious temporal and spatial changes of groundwater quality during the past 22 years. (2) Concentrations of NH +4, 2? SO 4, NO 3?, NO 2?, Cl ?and the pH value, total hardness, total alkalinity increased significantly, in which + NH 4, NO 3?, and NO ?2of groundwater exceeded the drinking water standards as a result of non-point pollution caused by the expansion of cultivated land and mass use of the fertilizer and pesticide. (3) Oppositely, Ca2+ and HCO 3?showed an obvious decline trend due to forest reduction and degradation and stony desertification. | 2 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. | 3 | Non-genetic photoacoustic stimulation of single neurons by a tapered fiber optoacoustic emitter显示文摘Neuromodulation at high spatial resolution poses great significance in advancing fundamental knowledge in the field of neuroscience and offering novel clinical treatments.Here,we developed a tapered fiber optoacoustic emitter(TFOE)generating an ultrasound field with a high spatial precision of 39.6 pm,enabling optoacoustic activation of single neurons or subcellular structures,such as axons and dendrites.Temporally,a single acoustic pulse of sub-microsecond converted by the TFOE from a single laser pulse of 3 ns is shown as the shortest acoustic stimuli so far for successful neuron activation.The precise ultrasound generated by the TFOE enabled the integration of the optoacoustic stimulation with highly stable patch-clamp recording on single neurons.Direct measurements of the electrical response of single neurons to acoustic stimulation,which is difficult for conventional ultrasound stimulation,have been demonstrated.By coupling TFOE with ex vivo brain slice electrophysiology,we unveil cell-type-specific responses of excitatory and inhibitory neurons to acoustic stimulation.These results demonstrate that TFOE is a non-genetic single-cell and sub-cellular modulation technology,which could shed new insights into the mechanism of ultrasound neurostimulation. | Linli Shi Ying Jiang Fernando R.Fernandez Guo Chen Lu Lan Heng-Ye Man John A.White Ji-Xin Cheng Chen Yang | 2021 | Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,8: | 4 |
| 4 | Overview to the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT) Satellite显示文摘As China’s first X-ray astronomical satellite, the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT), which was dubbed as Insight-HXMT after the launch on June 15, 2017, is a wide-band(1-250 ke V) slat-collimator-based X-ray astronomy satellite with the capability of all-sky monitoring in 0.2-3 Me V. | 6 | Optically-generated focused ultrasound for noninvasive brain stimulation with ultrahigh precision显示文摘High precision neuromodulation is a powerful tool to decipher neurocircuits and treat neurological diseases.Current non-invasive neuromodulation methods offer limited precision at the milimeter level.Here,we report opticallygenerated focused ultrasound(OFUS)for non-invasive brain stimulation with ultrahigh precision.OFUS is generated by a soft optoacoustic pad(SOAP)fabricated through embedding candle soot nanoparticles in a curved polydimethylsiloxane film.SOAP generates a transcranial ultrasound focus at 15 MHz with an ultrahigh lateral resolution of 83μm,which is two orders of magnitude smaller than that of conventional transcranial-focused ultrasound(tFUS).Here,we show effective OFUS neurostimulation in vitro with a single ultrasound cycle.We demonstrate submillimeter transcranial stimulation of the mouse motor cortex in vivo.An acoustic energy of 0.6 mJ/cm?,four orders of magnitude less than that of tFUS,is suffcient for successful OFUS neurostimulation.OFUS offers new capabilities for neuroscience studies and disease treatments by delivering a focus with ultrahigh precision noninvasively. | Yueming Li Ying Jiang Lu Lan Xiaowei Ge Ran Cheng Yuewei Zhan Guo Chen Linli Shi Runyu Wang Nan Zheng Chen Yang Ji-Xin Cheng | 2022 | Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,11: | 1 |
| 7 | Generating homozygous mutant populations of barley microspores by ethyl methanesulfonate treatment显示文摘Induced mutations are important for genetic research and breeding.Mutations induced by physical or chemical mutagenesis are usually heterozygous during the early generations.However,mutations must be fixed prior to phenotyping or field trials,which requires additional rounds of self-pollination.Microspore culture is an effective method to produce double-haploid(DH)plants that are fixed homozygotes.In this study,we conducted ethyl methanesulfonate(EMS)-induced mutagenesis of microspore cultures of barley(Hordeum vulgare)cultivar‘Hua30’and landrace‘HTX’.The EMS concentrations were negatively correlated with the efficiency of callus induction and the frequency of mutant plant regeneration.The two genotypes showed different regeneration efficiencies.The phenotypic variation of the regenerated M1 plants and the presence of genome-wide nucleotide mutations,revealed by whole-genome sequencing,highlight the utility of EMS-induced mutagenesis of isolated microspore cultures for developing DH mutants.Genome-wide analysis of the mutation frequency in the regenerated plants revealed that a considerable proportion of mutations resulted from microspore culture(somaclonal variation)rather than EMS-induced mutagenesis.In addition to producing a population of 1972 homozygous mutant lines that are available for future field trials,this study lays the foundation for optimizing the regeneration efficiency of DH plants and the richness of mutations(mainly by fine-tuning the mutagen dosage). | Linli Huang Guangqi Gao Congcong Jiang Guimei Guo Qiang He Yingjie Zong Chenghong Liu Ping Yang | 2023 | aBIOTECH2023,4,3: | 0 |

| 9 | Nuclear translocation of OsMADS25 facilitated by OsNAR2.1 in reponse to nitrate signals promotes rice root growth by targeting OsMADS27 and OsARF7显示文摘Nitrate is an important nitrogen source and signaling molecule that regulates plant growth and development.Although several components of the nitrate signaling pathway have been identified,the detailed mechanisms are still unclear.Our previous results showed that OsMADS25 can regulate root development in response to nitrate signals,but the mechanism is still unknown.Here,we try to answer two key questions:how does OsMADS25 move from the cytoplasm to the nucleus,and what are the direct target genes activated by OsMADS25 to regulate root growth after it moves to the nucleus in response to nitrate?Our results demonstrated that OsMADS25 moves from the cytoplasm to the nucleus in the presence of nitrate in an OsNAR2.1-dependentmanner.Chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing,chromatin immunoprecipitation qPCR,yeast one-hybrid,and luciferase experiments showed that OsMADS25 directly activates the expression of OsMADS27 and OsARF7,which are reported to be associated with root growth.Finally,OsMADS25-RNAi lines,the Osnar2.1 mutant,and OsMADS25-RNAi Osnar2.1 lines exhibited significantly reduced root growth compared with the wild type in response to nitrate supply,and expression of OsMADS27 and OsARF7 was significantly suppressed in these lines.Collectively,these results reveal a new mechanismby which OsMADS25 interacts with OsNAR2.1.This interaction is required for nuclear accumulation of OsMADS25,which promotes OsMADS27 and OsARF7 expression and root growth in a nitratedependent manner. | Junyu Wu Shuaiqi Yang Nana Chen Qining Jiang Linli Huang Jiaxuan Qi Guohua Xu Lisha Shen Hao Yu Xiaorong Fan Yinbo Gan | 2023 | Plant Communications2023,4,6: | 0 |
