17Histopathological Observation of Goose Escherichia coli Disease显示文摘[Objective]This study aimed to provide reliable basis for in-depth understanding of histopathological changes in geese suffering from Escherichia coli disease and accurate diagnosis of goose E. coli disease. [Method]By using paraffin embedding,section slicing and HE staining,histopathological changes in the heart,liver,spleen,lung,kidney and small intestine tissues of three diseased geese were observed. [Result]The liver generated protein fiber membranes,showing liver cell degeneration,increasing number of red blood cells in sinusoids and liver congestion; the kidney had relatively serious lesions,including renal tubular epithelial cell degeneration,necrosis and shedding from the basement membrane and hyaline degeneration of glomerulars. The lung showed epithelial cell degeneration and necrosis and was filled with a large number of red blood cells and shedded epithelial cells,showing typical red hepatization; a large number of red blood cells were aggregated in pulmonary blood vessels,resulting in lung congestion. Epithelial cells of various digestive tubes all showed varying degrees of minor shedding and local infiltration of inflammatory cells,thereby leading to death of geese due to substance metabolism,electrolyte and acid-base balance disorders and metabolic acidosis. 18Reprogramming somatic cells to cells with neuronal characteristics by defined medium both in vitro and in vivo显示文摘Background:Currently,direct conversion from somatic cells to neurons requires virus-mediated delivery of at least one transcriptional factor or a combination of several small-molecule compounds.Delivery of transcriptional factors may affect genome stability,while small-molecule compounds may require more evaluations when applied in vivo.Thus,a defined medium with only conventional growth factors or additives for cell culture is desirable for inducing neuronal trans-differentiation.Results:Here,we report that a defined medium(5C)consisting of basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF),N2 supplement,leukemia inhibitory factor,vitamin C(Vc),andβ-mercaptoethanol(βMe)induces the direct conversion of somatic cells to cells with neuronal characteristics.Application of 5C medium converted mouse embryonic fibroblasts(MEFs)into TuJ+neuronal-like cells,which were capable of survival after being transplanted into the mouse brain.The same 5C medium could convert primary rat astrocytes into neuronal-like cells with mature electrophysiology characteristics in vitro and facilitated the recovery of brain injury,possibly by inducing similar conversions,when infused into the mouse brain in vivo.Crucially,5C medium could also induce neuronal characteristics in several human cell types.Conclusions:In summary,this 5C medium not only provides a means to derive cells with neuronal characteristics without viral transfection in vitro but might also be useful to produce neurons in vivo for neurodegenerative disease treatment.Songwei He Yiping Guo Yixin Zhang Yuan Li Chengqian Feng Xiang Li Lilong Lin Lin Guo Haitao Wang Chunhua Liu Yi Zheng Chuanming Luo Qiang Liu Fuhui Wang Hao Sun Lining Liang Lingyu Li Huanxing Su Jiekai Chen Duanqing Pei Hui Zheng 2015Cell Regeneration2015,4,1:0
19Low-temperature plasma induced phosphate groups onto coffee residue-derived porous carbon for efficient U(Ⅵ) extraction显示文摘For the continuous utilization of nuclear energy and efficient control of radioactive pollution, low-cost materials with high efficient U(VI) removal are of great importance. In this study, low temperature plasma method was applied for the successful modification of Ophosphorylethanolamine(O-PEA) on the porous carbon materials. The produced materials(Cafe/O-PEA) could adsorb U(VI) efficiently with the maximum sorption capacity of 648.54mg/g at 1 hr, T=298 K, and p H=6.0, much higher than those of most carbon-based composites. U(VI) sorption was mainly controlled by strong surface complexation. From FTIR,SEM-EDS and XPS analyses, the sorption of U(VI) was related to the complexation with-NH2, phosphate and-OH groups on Cafe/O-PEA. 20Water-responsive gel extends drug retention and facilitates skin penetration for curcumin topical delivery against psoriasis显示文摘Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by erythema,scaling,and skin thickening.Topical drug application is recommended as the first-line treatment.Many formulation strategies have been developed and explored for enhanced topical psoriasis treatment.However,these preparations usually have low viscosity and limited retention on the skin surface,resulting in low drug delivery efficiency and poor patient satisfaction.In this study,we developed the first water-responsive gel(WRG),which has a distinct water-triggered liquid-to-gel phase transition property.Specifically,WRG was kept in a solution state in the absence of water,and the addition of water induced an immediate phase transition and resulted in a high viscosity gel.Curcumin was used as a model drug to investigate the potential of WRG in topical drug delivery against psoriasis.In vitro and in vivo data showed that WRG formulation could not only extend skin retention but also facilitate the drug permeating across the skin.In a mouse model of psoriasis,curcumin loaded WRG(CUR-WRG)effectively ameliorated the symptoms of psoriasis and exerted a potent anti-psoriasis effect by extending drug retention and facilitating drug penetration.Further mechanism study demonstrated that the anti-hyperplasia,anti-inflammation,anti-angiogenesis,anti-oxidation,and immunomodulation properties of curcumin were amplified by enhanced topical drug delivery efficiency.Notably,neglectable local or systemic toxicity was observed for CUR-WRG application.This study suggests that WRG is a promising formulation for topically psoriasis treatment.Qing Yao Yuanyuan Zhai Zhimin He Qian Wang Lining Sun Tuyue Sun Leyao Lv Yingtao Li Jiyong Yang Donghui Lv Ruijie Chen Hailin Zhang Xiang Luo Longfa Kou 2023Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences2023,18,2:0
