1Pollen-inferred vegetation and environmental changes since 16.7 ka BP at Balikun Lake, Xinjiang显示文摘A high-resolution fossil pollen record from the sedimentary cores of Balikun Lake, northwestern China, combined with modern surface pollen data, is used to reconstruct the history of vegetation and climatic change since 16.7 cal. ka BP. Fossil pollen assem-blages and lithology indicate that the study area was dominated by desert. The desert had extremely arid climate and lower effec-tive moisture during 16.7–7.9 cal. ka BP, especially from 16.7 to 8.9 cal. ka BP when the lake maybe dried up. During 8.9–7.9 cal. ka BP, the environment gradually recovered in this area. It was then followed by the optimum period from 7.9 to 4.3 cal. Ka BP, when the effective moisture obviously increased. It was characterized by the typical desert-steppe/steppe vegetation and was ac-companied with several patch-birch woodlands around the lake. After that, a short but extremely arid climatic event occurred during 4.3–3.8 cal. ka BP, and the vegetation quickly changed from desert-steppe/steppe to desert. It was a relatively optimum period from 3.8 to 0.53 cal. ka BP showing typical desert-steppe/meadow-steppe landscape. Since 0.53 cal. ka BP, the climate has shown signs of deteriorating again. Furthermore, regional comparison shows that the characteristics of climatic and environmental evolution in this area were clearly different from East Asia monsoonal area during the last 16.7 cal. ka BP. 2The Preliminary Experimental Study of Induced Differentiation of Embryonic Stem Cells into Corneal Epithelial Cells显示文摘Purpose:To study preliminarily induced differentiation of embryonic stem cells intocorneal epithelial cells in vitro.Methods: Murine embryonic stem cells were co-cultured with Rabbit limbal cornealepithelial cells in Transwell system to induce differentiation. Mophological andimmunohistochemical examination were implemented.Results: The induced cells from embryonic stem cells have an epithelial appearance.The cells formed a network and were confluent into film gradually after beingco-cultured with rabbit limbal corneal epithelial cells for 24 ~ 96 hours. The cells rangedmosaic structure and localized together with clear rim. Most of the cells showedpolygonal appearance. Transmission electron microscope showed lots of microvilli on thesurface of induced cells and tight junctions between them. 3Data mining-based detection of acupuncture treatment on juvenile myopia显示文摘OBJECTIVE:We applied data mining techniques to the study of acupuncture as a treatment for juvenile myopia,with the aim of identifying hidden patterns in the data.METHODS:Fifty patients with juvenile myopia were selected and treated with acupuncture,and data mining was used to analyze the effects of treatment and the influence of behavioral variables.Clustering analysis was used to divide myopia patients into two classifications before acupuncture treatment.Artificial neural network BP algorithm was adopted to analyze the roles of different factors in changes in diopters.An association algorithm was used to analyze factors associated with the subjective experience of acupuncture and average diopter.RESULTS:The two classification results were fully consistent with the understandings of the ophthalmic circles.The duration of using the Internet and watching TV every day was the main factor that affected vision.Acupuncture feelings and therapeutic effect have a strong correlativity.A good or above experience's score of acupuncture could slow the progression of juvenile myopia.CONCLUSION:Collecting data from patients with juvenile myopia by using data mining can extract hidden potential rules and knowledge from the research evidence.The decision support can be provided to improve the doctor's clinical acupuncture treatment effects.Xuming Yang Lingyu Xu Fei Zhong Ying Zhu 2012Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,3:15
4Bioinspired Adhesive and Antibacterial Microneedles for Versatile Transdermal Drug Delivery显示文摘Microneedles have attracted increasing interest among various medical fields due to their painless,noninvasive,and efficient way of drug delivery.However,practical applications of these microneedles in different epidermal locations and environments are still restricted by their low adhesion and poor antimicrobial activity.Here,inspired by the antibacterial strategy of Paenibacillus polymyxa and adhesion mechanisms of mussel byssi and octopus tentacles,we develop hierarchical microneedles with multifunctional adhesive and antibacterial abilities.With polydopamine hydrogel as the microneedle base and a loop of suctioncup-structured concave chambers encircling each microneedle,the generated microneedles can fit the skin well;keep strong adhesion in dry,moist,and wet environments;and realize self-repair after being split into two parts.Besides,as polymyxin is loaded into both the hydrogel tips and the polydopamine base,the microneedles are endowed with excellent ability to resist common bacteria during storage and usage.We have demonstrated that these microneedles not only showed excellent adhesion when applied to knuckles and ideal antibacterial activity but also performed well in drug-sustained release and treatment for the osteoarthritis rat model.These results indicate that bioinspired multifunctional microneedles will break through the limitation of traditional methods and be ideal candidates for versatile transdermal drug delivery systems.Xiaoxuan Zhang Guopu Chen Yunru Yu Lingyu Sun Yuanjin Zhao 2020Research2020,,1:14
5Microfluidic Generation of Microsprings with Ionic Liquid Encapsulation for Flexible Electronics显示文摘Inspired by helical or spiral veins,which endow plants with excellent fexibility and elasticity to withstand storms,we present novel hollow microsprings with ionic liquid encapsulation for fexible and stretchable electronics.Te microsprings were generated by using a coaxial capillary microfuidic device to consecutively spin poly(vinylidene fuoride)(PVDF)presolution and an ionic liquid,which formed laminar fows in the coaxial injection microfuidic channels.Te fast phase inversion of PVDF helps to form the core-shell structure of a microfber and guarantees the in situ encapsulation of ionic liquid.Te hybrid microfber can then spiral and be further solidifed to maintain the helical structure with increasing fow rates of the injection fuids.Because of the feasible and precise control of the injection fuids during the microfuidic spinning,the resultant microsprings have controlled core-shell structures,helical pitches,and corresponding electromechanical properties.By further embedding them into stretchable flms,the simple paradigm of a fexible device shows great conductive performance in tensile tests and even motion cycles,which could be explored as a promising candidate in stretchable sensors,fexible electronics,and electronic skins.Yunru Yu Jiahui Guo Lingyu Sun Xiaoxuan Zhang Yuanjin Zhao 2019Research2019,,1:14
6The electromagnetic wave experiment for CSES mission: Search coil magnetometer显示文摘The seismic activities on the Earth can produce a disturbance of the electromagnetic field and particles in the ionosphere. The search coil magnetometer(SCM) mounted on China Seismo-Electromagnetic satellite(CSES) is designed to measure the magnetic field fluctuation of low frequency electromagnetic waves in the frequency range of 10 Hz–20 k Hz. The SCM comprises a three-axis search coil sensor mounted on a 4.5 m boom and an electronic box inside satellite module. The sampling rate of the SCM is 51.2 k Hz and the time resolution of the power spectrum density(PSD) is 2 s. The frequency resolution is 12.5 Hz.There are three operation modes: survey, detailed survey and calibration. In the survey mode, the SCM can provide a PSD in the whole frequency range of 10 Hz–20 k Hz and wave forms in the low frequency range below 2 k Hz while in the detailed survey mode the SCM can provide both PSD and wave forms in the whole frequency range of 10 Hz–20 k Hz. The sensitivity of the SCM instrument is 5.0×10^(-4) n T Hz^(-1/2) at 10 Hz, 5.0×10^(–5) n T Hz^(-1/2) at 200 Hz, 3.4×10^(-5) n T Hz^(-1/2) at 2 k Hz and 1.1×10^(-4) n T Hz^(-1/2) at 20 k Hz. The telemetry rate is ~0.85 Mbps in the survey mode and ~3.0 Mbps in the detailed survey mode. The phase difference between three axes can be made generally with a precision of less than 1.0°. The dynamic range of the SCM instrument is over 100 d B. The orthogonality of three mechanical axes of search coil senor is better than 0.13°. 7Bio-inspired clamping microneedle arrays from flexible ferrofluid-configured moldings显示文摘Microneedle(MN)arrays have demonstrated value for cosmetics,diagnosis,transdermal drug delivery,and other biomedical areas.Much effort has been devoted to developing simple stratagem for creating versatile moldings and generating functional MN arrays.Here,inspired by the serrated microstructure of mantises’forelegs,we present a novel serration-like clamping MN array based on ferrofluidconfigured moldings.Benefiting from the flexibility and versatility of ferrofluids,negative microhole array moldings with various sizes and angles toward the midline could be created easily.The corresponding biocompatible polymer MN arrays with both isotropic and anisotropic structures could then be produced feasibly and cost-effectively by simply replicating these moldings.It was found that the resultant serrated clamping MN arrays had the ability to adhere to skin firmly,enabling them to be used over a relatively long time and while the recipient was moving.This proposed technology performed well in minimally invasive drug administration and sustained glucocorticoids release during treatment for imiquimod-induced psoriasis in mice.These features indicated that such MN arrays could play important roles in wearable transdermal drug delivery systems and in other applications.Xiaoxuan Zhang Fengyuan Wang Yunru Yu Guopu Chen Luoran Shang Lingyu Sun Yuanjin Zhao 2019Science Bulletin2019,64,15:11
8Oxidative stress, nutritional antioxidants and beyond显示文摘Free radical-induced oxidative stress contributes to the development of metabolic syndromes(Mets), including overweight,hyperglycemia, insulin resistance and pro-inflammatory state. Most free radicals are generated from the mitochondrial electron transport chain;under physiological conditions, their levels are maintained by efficient antioxidant systems. A variety of transcription factors have been identified and characterized that control gene expression in response to oxidative stress status.Natural antioxidant compounds have been largely studied for their strong antioxidant capacities. 9Recent progress for hydrogen production by photocatalytic natural or simulated seawater splitting显示文摘Solar energy is an inexhaustible renewable energy source.Among the various methods for solar energy conversion,photocatalytic hydrogen(H2)production is considered as one of the most promising ways.Since Fujishima pioneered this field in 1972,photocatalytic water splitting to produce H2 has received widespread attention.Up to now,abundant semiconductor materials have been explored as photocatalysts for pure water splitting to produce H2.However,photocatalytic seawater splitting is more in line with the concept of sustainable development,which can greatly alleviate the problem of limited freshwater resource.At present,only few studies have focused on the process of H2 production by photocatalytic seawater splitting due to the complex composition of seawater and lack of suitable photocatalysts.In this review,we outline the most recent advances in photocatalytic seawater splitting.In particular,we introduce the H2 production photocatalysts,underlying mechanism of ions in seawater on photocatalytic seawater splitting,current challenges and future potential advances for this exciting field.Jining Zhang Wenping Hu Shuang Cao Lingyu Piao 2020Nano Research2020,13,9:10

11Palaeoecological and palaeoenvironmental significance of someimportant spores and micro-algae in Quaternary deposits显示文摘Spores of ferns and allied plants, and micro-algae frequently occur in abundance in Quaternary deposits, but their palaeoenvironmental significance is seldom evaluated. This paper presents morphological descriptions of spores of Selaginella sinensis (Desv.) Spring, 1843 (Selaginellaceae) and Ceratopteris cf. thalictroides (L.) Brongniart, 1821 (Parkeriaceae) and the algae Pediastrum boryanum (Turpin) Meneghini, 1840, P. simplex Meyen, 1829, P. integrum N geli, 1849 (all Hydrodictyaceae), Spiniferites Mantell, 1850, emend. Sarjeant, 1970 (Spiniferitaceae) and Concentricystes Rossignal, 1962, emend. Jiabo, 1978 (systematic position unclear), and discusses their occurrence in mostly Quaternary sedimentary successions. All are closely associated with aquatic habitats. Extant Selaginella sinensis often colonizes fairly wet hillsides and gaps between rocks, and shady sides of ravines and slopes; it is also found within thickets of trees and shrubs (boscages) and in forests with calcareous soils. Ceratopteris thalictroides, Pediastrum and Concentricystes inhabit freshwater lakes and both natural and artificial wetlands, such as paddy fields and ditches. Spiniferites is a salt-water genus and usually associated with the marine realm. 12Lubricant Biodegradation Enhancers: Designed Chemistry and Engineered Technology显示文摘In recent decades, a growing worldwide trend of developing the biodegradable lubricants has been prevailing to form a specific field of green chemistry and green engineering. Enhancement of biodegradability of unreadily biodegradable petroleum-based lubricants has as such become an urgent must. For over a decade the authors have been focusing on the improvement of biodegradability of unreadily biodegradable lubricants such as petroleum-based lubricating oils and greases. A new idea of lubricant biodegradation enhancer was put forward by the authors with the aim to stimulate the biodegradation of unreadily biodegradable lubricants by incorporating the enhancer into the lubricants in order to turn the lubricants into greener biodegradable ones and to help in situ bioremediation of lubricant-contaminated environment. This manuscript summarizes our recent efforts relating to the chemistry and technology of biodegradation enhancers for lubricants. Firstly, the chemistry of lubricant biodegradation enhancers was designed based on the principles of bioremediation for the treatment of hydrocarbon contaminated environment. Secondly, the ability of the designed biodegradation enhancers for increasing the biodegradability of unreadily biodegradable industrial lubricants was investigated through biodegradability evaluation tests, microbial population analysis, and biodegradation kinetics modeling. Finally, the impact of biodegradation enhancers on some crucial performance characteristics of lubricants such as lubricity and oxidation stability was tested via tribological evaluation and oxidation determinations. Our results have shown that the designed chemistry of nitrogenous and/or phosphorous compounds such as lauroyl glutamine, oleoyl glycine, oleic diethanolamide phosphate and lauric diethanolamide borate was outstanding in boosting biodegradation of petroleum-based lubricants which was ascribed to increase the microbial population and decrease the oil-water interfacial tension during the biodegradation process. Lubricants doped with the biodegradation enhancers exhibited much better biodegradability and higher biodegradation rate in the surrounding soils which could be well modeled by the exponential biodegradation kinetics. Furthermore, as lubricant dopants, the biodegradation enhancers also provided excellent capability in reducing friction and wear and in retarding oxidation of lubricants. 13Chinese herb microneedle patch for wound healing显示文摘Traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese herbs have a demonstrated value for disease therapy and sub-health improvement.Attempts in this area tend to develop new forms to make their applications more convenient and wider.Here,we propose a novel Chinese herb microneedle(CHMN)patch by integrating the herbal extracts,Premna microphylla and Centella asiatica,with microstructure of microneedle for wound healing.Such path is composed of sap extracted from the herbal leaves via traditional kneading method and solidified by plant ash derived from the brine induced process of tofu in a well-designed mold.Because the leaves of the Premna microphylla are rich in pectin and various amino acids,the CHMN could be imparted with medicinal efficacy of heat clearing,detoxicating,detumescence and hemostatic.Besides,with the excellent pharmaceutical activity of Asiatic acid extracted from Centella asiatica,the CHMN is potential in promoting relevant growth factor genes expression in fibroblasts and showing excellent performance in anti-oxidant,anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial activity.Taking advantages of these pure herbal compositions,we have demonstrated that the derived CHMN was with dramatical achievement in anti-bacteria,inhibiting inflammatory,collagen deposition,angiogenesis and tissue reconstruction during the wound closure.These results indicate that the integration of traditional Chinese herbs with progressive technologies will facilitate the development and promotion of traditional Chinese medicine in modern society.Junjie Chi Lingyu Sun Lijun Cai Lu Fan Changmin Shao Luoran Shang Yuanjin Zhao 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,10:8
14Pollen-inferred Holocene vegetation and climate histories in Taro Co,southwestern Tibetan Plateau显示文摘A 310-cm-long sediment core,covering the last10,200 years,was collected from Taro Co on the southwestern Tibetan Plateau and analyzed for pollen,grain size and total inorganic carbon content.The pollen data showed that vegetation changed from alpine steppe to alpine meadow during 10,200–8,900 cal a BP,to alpine steppe dominated by Artemisia during 8,900–7,400 cal a BP,to alpine meadow during 7,400–3,300 cal a BP and to alpine steppe after 3,300 cal a BP.Correspondingly,the pollen,grain size and total inorganic carbon content results revealed climatic change in this area over four stages.The initial stage was from 10,200 to 8,900 cal a BP,during which the climate changed from cold-dry to warm-humid.The second stage(8,900–7,400 cal a BP)was characterized by a warm and dry climate.However,at approximately7,400 cal a BP,the climate began to become cold and humid,which continued until 3,300 cal a BP.The last stage,from 3,300 cal a BP to present,was characterized as cold and increasingly arid.Climatic events of the early and mid-late Holocene showed that the area was significantly affected by the westerlies.However,the mid-Holocene climate in Taro Co was controlled by the Indian monsoon.The mid-late Holocene depositional environment record of Taro Co was very important to further elaborate the degree of influence by the westerlies or Indian monsoon.Qingfeng Ma Liping Zhu Xinmiao L Yun Guo Jianting Ju Junbo Wang Yong Wang Lingyu Tang 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,31:7
15Unique characteristics of the genetics epidemiology of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in China显示文摘Continual discoveries of new genes and unraveling the genetic etiology in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS) have provided greater insight into the underlying pathogenesis in motor neuron degeneration, as well as facilitating the disease modeling and the testing of targeted therapeutics. While, the genetic etiology accounted for two-thirds of FALS and approximately 11% of SALS in Caucasians. However, the contributions of these causative genes to ALS vary among different populations. Furthermore, the prominent difference between Chinese population and other ethnics remains a source of ongoing debate. We systemically reviewed genetics literature of Chinese ALS populations and updated the mutation frequencies of the main ALS-implicated genes aiming to determine the genetic features of ALS in Chinese population. We also reviewed the associations between ALSimplicated single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) and the risk of ALS in Chinese population. A total of 116 studies were included in this analysis(86 gene mutation study articles and 30 SNPs study articles). The results showed that the overall gene mutation rates of ALS-related causative genes were 55.0% in familial ALS(FALS) and 11.7% in sporadic ALS(SALS) in Chinese population. In Chinese FALS, the highest mutation frequency was found in SOD1 gene(25.6%), followed by FUS(5.8%), TARDBP(5.8%), DCTN1(3.6%) and C9 orf 72(3.5%). In Chinese SALS, the highest mutation frequency was also identified in SOD1 gene(1.6%), followed by ANXA11(1.4%), FUS(1.3%), SQSTM1(1.0%), OPTN(0.9%) and CCNF(0.8%).The associations between several SNPs and risk of ALS were also reported in Chinese population. The genetic features of ALS in Chinese population are significantly different from those in Caucasian population, indicating an association between genetic susceptibility and origin of population. 16A newly bio-inspired path planning algorithm for autonomous obstacle avoidance of UAV显示文摘In this paper,a bio-inspired path planning algorithm in 3 D space is proposed.The algorithm imitates the basic mechanisms of plant growth,including phototropism,negative geotropism and branching.The algorithm proposed in this paper solves the dynamic obstacle avoidance path planning problem of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)in the case of unknown environment maps.Compared with other path planning algorithms,the algorithm has the advantages of fast path planning speed and fewer route points,and can achieve the effect of low delay real-time path planning.The feasibility of the algorithm is verified in the Gazebo simulator based on the Robot Operating System(ROS)platform.Finally,an actual UAV autonomous obstacle avoidance path planning experimental platform is built,and a UAV obstacle avoidance path planning flight test is carried out based on this actual environment.Yaoming ZHOU Yu SU Anhuan XIE Lingyu KONG 2021Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2021,34,9:7
