1Kangxian ruangan keli inhibits hepatic stellate cell proliferation mediated by PDGF显示文摘AIM: To investigate the effect of Kangxian ruangan keli (KXR) on hepatic stellate cell (HSC) proliferation mediated by platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) and the underlying mechanism.METHODS: In a serum-free culture system, HSCs were treated with a KXR preparation for 24 hours, followed by stimulation with PDGF-BB for 24 hours. Then the cells were incubated again in the medium containing KXR for 3 hours stimulated with PDGF-BB for 5 minutes, and collected. The proliferation of HSC was examined using an MTT assay and flow cytometry. Tyrosine phosphorylation was detected with Western blotting and visualized by the enhenced chemiluminescent (ECL) method.RESULTS: The OD values for the HSCs growing in the media without and with addition of PDGF were 0.17±0.06 and0.82±0.05, respectively. The PDGF-induced increase was hindered remarkably by KXR preparation in a dose-dependent manner. The reaction values for the systems with 5mg/mL, 2.5 mg/mL and 1.25 mg/mL of KXR were 0.28±0.03,0.37±0.02 and 0.43±0.04, respectively. Moreover, the percentages of S-phase cells in these KXR-containing culturesystems were 10.95±1.35, 32.76±1.07 and 43.19±1.09,respectively, all of which were significantly lower than that in the culture free of KXR (68.24±2.72). In addition, the values for tyrosine-phosphorylated protein in HSCs treated with 5 mg/mL and 1.25 mg/mL of KXR were 0.1349±0.0072 and 0.1658±0.0025, respectively, which were smaller than that in the cells treated only with PDGF-BB (0.1813±0.0117).CONCLUSION: Within the dose range used in the present study, KXR preparation shows an inhibitory effect on HSC proliferation induced by PDGF. 4Effect of Cu addition on microstructures and tensile properties of high-pressure die-casting Al-5.5Mg-0.7Mn alloy显示文摘In this study, Cu was added into the high-pressure die-casting Al-5.5 Mg-0.7 Mn(wt%) alloy to improve the tensile properties. The effects of Cu addition on the microstructures, mechanical properties of the Al-5.5 Mg-0.7 Mn alloys under both as-cast and T5 treatment conditions have been investigated. Additions of 0.5 wt%, 0.8 wt% and 1.5 wt% Cu can lead to the formation of irregular-shaped Al2 CuMg particles distributed along the grain boundaries in the as-cast alloys. Furthermore, the rest of Cu can dissolve into the matrixes. The lath-shaped Al2 CuMg precipitates with a size of 15–20 nm × 2–4 nm were generated in the T5-treated Al-5.5 Mg-0.7 Mn-x Cu(x = 0.5, 0.8, 1.5 wt%) alloys. The room temperature tensile and yield strengths of alloys increase with increasing the content of Cu. Increasing Cu content results in more Al2 CuMg phase formation along the grain boundaries, which causes more cracks during tensile deformation and lower ductility. Al-5.5 Mg-0.7 Mn-0.8 Cu alloy exhibits excellent comprehensive tensile properties under both as-cast and T5-treated conditions. 5Genome wide association study identifies SNPs associated with fatty acid composition in Chinese Wagyu cattle显示文摘Background: Fatty acids are important traits that affect meat quality and nutritive values in beef cattle. Detection of genetic variants for fatty acid composition can help to elucidate the genetic mechanism underpinning these traits and promote the improvement of fatty acid profiles. In this study, we performed a genome-wide association study(GWAS) on fatty acid composition using high-density single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) arrays in Chinese Wagyu cattle.Results: In total, we detected 15 and 8 significant genome-wide SNPs for individual fatty acids and fatty acid groups in Chinese Wagyu cattle, respectively. Also, we identified nine candidate genes based on 100 kb regions around associated SNPs. Four SNPs significantly associated with C14:1 cis-9 were embedded with stearoyl-CoA desaturase(SCD), while three SNPs in total were identified for C22:6 n-3 within Phospholipid scramblase family member 5(PLSCR5), Cytoplasmic linker associated protein 1(CLASP1), and Chymosin(CYM). Notably, we found the top candidate SNP within SCD can explain ~ 7.37% of phenotypic variance for C14:1 cis-9.Moreover, we detected several blocks with high LD in the 100 kb region around SCD. In addition, we found three significant SNPs within a 100 kb region showing pleiotropic effects related to multiple FA groups(PUFA,n-6, and PUFA/SFA), which contains BAI1 associated protein 2 like 2(BAIAP2 L2), MAF bZIP transcription factor F(MAFF),and transmembrane protein 184 B(TMEM184 B).Conclusions: Our study identified several significant SNPs and candidate genes for individual fatty acids and fatty acid groups in Chinese Wagyu cattle, and these findings will further assist the design of breeding programs for meat quality in cattle.Zezhao Wang Bo Zhu Hong Niu Wengang Zhang Ling Xu Lei Xu Yan Chen Lupei Zhang Xue Gao Huijiang Gao Shengli Zhang Lingyang Xu Junya Li 2019Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2019,10,2:4
6Rolling up MXene sheets into scrolls to promote their anode performance in lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Although Ti3 C2 MXene sheets have attracted extensive attention in lithium-ion storage techniques,their restacking makes against and even hinders the Li ions diffusion within them,thereby decreasing the capacity as well as rate performance of conventional MXene anode.Here,for the first time,we roll up the Ti3 C2 Tx sheets into scrolls with unclosed topological structure and the interlayer galleries to alleviate the restacking problem.Thus,Ti3 C2 Tx scrolls as anode materials in lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)have higher capacity and better rate performance than Ti3 C2 Tx sheets.On the bases of these,high-capacity silicon nanoparticles are added during the rolling process to in-situ produce Ti3 C2 Tx/Si composite scrolls.The addition of 10%silicon nanoparticles shows the best overall improvement among capacity,rate capability and cyclic stability for Ti3 C2 Tx scrolls.Jianing Meng Fangfang Zhang Li Zhang Lingyang Liu Jiangtao Chen Bingjun Yang Xingbin Yan 2020Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,7:4
7A Streptococcus suis serotype 2 caused streptococcal toxic shock syndrome(STSS) in a patient显示文摘Streptococcus suis(S.suis)is a Gram-positive,facultatively anaerobic coccus that has been implicated as the cause of a wide range of clinical disease syndromes in swine and other domestic animals.S.suis has also been implicated in disease in humans,especially among abattoir workers,swine and pork handlers.Here we report a case of streptococcal toxic shock syndrome(STSS)caused by S.suis in a 59-year-old man.Despite of intensive treatment,the patient died of shock with multiple organ failure 14 h after admission.One bacterial isolate obtained from blood culture was identified to the species level by biochemical tests and serological tests as S.suis serotype 2.Identification was confirmed by PCR amplification of genes encoding 16sRNA of S.suis and the capsule of S.suis serotype 2(cps 2J).Genes encoding virulence factors were also detected.An investigation to identify the source of S.suis revealed that several days before admission the affected man had been handling sick pigs or their meat.Transmission may occur through breaks in the skin of feet with tinea due to that no measures for personal protection was taken.This case should highten awareness of the potential for occupational exposure and human infection with S.suis.Yefei Zhu Zhongmin Tan Lingyang Zhu Hongxing Pan Xuejun Zhang Lei Xu Huimin Qian Ling Gu Xun Ye Chen Dong Changjun Bao Rongqiang Zhu Fengcai Zhu Hua Wang 2008Journal of Nanjing Medical University2008,22,5:3

11Effect of carboxylic acid groups on the supercapacitive performance of functional carbon frameworks derived from bacterial cellulose显示文摘Three-dimensional(3D) carbonaceous materials derived from bacterial cellulose(BC) has been introduced as electrode for supercapacitors in recent. Here, we report a simple strategy for the synthesis of functional carbon frameworks through 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpilperidine 1-oxyl radical(TEMPO)-mediated oxidation of bacterial cellulose(BC) followed by carbonization. TEMPO-mediated oxidation can efficiently convert the hydroxyls on the surface of BC to carboxylate groups to improve electrochemical activity. Because of its high porosity, good hydrophilicity, rich oxygen groups, and continuous ion transport in-between sheet-like porous network, the TEMPO-oxidized BC delivers a much higher gravimetric capacitance(137.3 F/g) at low annealing temperature of 500℃ than that of pyrolysis BC(31 F/g) at the same annealing temperature.
