1LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating and phenocryst EPMA of dikes, Guocheng, Jiaodong Peninsula: Implications for North China Craton lithosphere evolution显示文摘Widespread dike swarm, including diorite-, monzonite-porphyry and lamprophyre, intruded in the al- tered breccia gold deposits along basin marginal faults, Guocheng, Jiaodong Peninsula. Petrography exhibits biotite enclaves in amphibole phenocrysts and the presence of acicular apatites in these dikes. Electron probe microanalyses (EPMA) show that the amphibole and clinopyroxene phenocryst’s mantle in diorite porphyry and lamprophyre respectively has sharply higher MgO (Mg#) and Cr2O3 contents in contrast to their cores. The plagioclase phenocryst in monzonite porphyry has reverse zoning. These results indicate that the magma mixing between mantle-derived mafic and crust-derived felsic magmas occurred in the original process of the dikes. Zircon cathodoluminescence (CL) images show well-developed magmatic oscillatory zones and the acquired LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb weighted mean 206Pb/238U ages are 114±2 Ma (MSDW=1.5) for monzonite porphyry (GS1) and 116±1 Ma (MSDW=0.8) for diorite porphyry (GS2), respectively. Earlier magmatic events in the northwest Jiaodong Peninsula represented by some inherited or captured zircons also occur in these dikes. Magmatic zircons from GS1 and GS2 display consistent chondrite-normalized REE patterns and Nb/Ta values, implying that they may share a similar or same source. HREE enrichment and obvious negative Eu anomalies of these zircons preclude garnet presented in their source. Our results, combined with preciously pub- lished data, indicate that dike intrusion and gold mineralization among quartz vein, altered tectonite and altered breccia gold deposits are broadly contemporaneous throughout the Jiaodong Peninsula. 3Nitric oxide alleviates aluminum-induced oxidative damage through regulating the ascorbateglutathione cycle in roots of wheat显示文摘The possible association with nitric oxide(NO) and ascorbate-glutathione(As A-GSH) cycle in regulating aluminum(Al) tolerance of wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) was investigated using two genotypes with different Al resistance. Exposure to Al inhibited root elongation, and triggered lipid peroxidation and oxidation of As A to dehydroascorbate and GSH to glutathione disulfide in wheat roots. Exogenous NO significantly increased endogenous NO levels, and subsequently alleviated Al-induced inhibition of root elongation and oxidation of As A and GSH to maintain the redox molecules in the reduced form in both wheat genotypes. Under Al stress, significantly increased activities and gene transcriptional levels of ascorbate peroxidase, glutathione reductase, and dehydroascorbate reductase,were observed in the root tips of the Al-tolerant genotype Jian-864. Nitric oxide application enhanced the activity and gene transcriptional level of these enzymes in both wheat genotypes. g-Glutamylcysteine synthetase was not significantly Researaffected by Al or NO, but NO treatments increased the activity of glutathione peroxidase and glutathione S-transferase to a greater extent than the Al-treated wheat seedlings. 4Wheat powdery mildew resistance gene Pm64 derived from wild emmer (Triticum turgidum var.dicoccoides) is tightly linked in repulsion with stripe rust resistance gene Yr5显示文摘Stripe rust and powdery mildew are both devastating diseases for durum and common wheat.Pyramiding of genes conferring resistance to one or more diseases in a single cultivar is an important breeding approach to provide broader spectra of resistances in wheat improvement. A new powdery mildew resistance gene originating from wild emmer(Triticum turgidum var.dicoccoides) backcrossed into common wheat(T. aestivum) line WE35 was identified. It conferred an intermediate level of resistance to Blumeria graminis f. sp. tritici isolate E09 at the seedling stage and a high level of resistance at the adult plant stage. Genetic analysis showed that the powdery mildew resistance in WE35 was controlled by a dominant gene designated Pm64. Bulked segregant analysis(BSA) and molecular mapping indicated that Pm64 was located in chromosome bin 2 BL4-0.50–0.89. Polymorphic markers were developed from the corresponding genomic regions of Chinese Spring wheat and wild emmer accession Zavitan to delimit Pm64 to a 0.55 cM genetic interval between markers WGGBH1364 and WGGBH612, corresponding to a 15 Mb genomic region on Chinese Spring and Zavitan 2 BL, respectively. The genetic linkage map of Pm64 is critical for fine mapping and cloning. Pm64 was completely linked in repulsion with stripe rust resistance gene Yr5. 6Effect of nitrogen limitation on antioxidant qualities is highly associated with genotypes of lettuce(Lactuca sativa L.)显示文摘Antioxidants are highly beneficial to human health, and their accumulation in lettuce, one of the most popular leafy vegetables, depends on both genetic and environmental factors. Nitrogen(N) availability plays an essential role in regulating antioxidant accumulation, but the influence of genotype × N interactions on the antioxidant qualities of lettuce is poorly understood. Therefore, the present study investigated the variation of growth and antioxidant qualities of 20 lettuce(Lactuca sativa L.) genotypes(10 green lettuce genotypes and 10 red lettuce genotypes) under limited N(low N, LN) conditions and standard N(high N, HN) conditions. For all 20 genotypes, LN conditions reduced shoot(i.e., leaf) growth, but increased plant concentrations of vitamin C,glutathione, and phenolic compounds, with the exception of carotenoids, compared with HN conditions. Because of reduced biomass under LN conditions, not all lettuce genotypes exhibited increased antioxidant yields or total antioxidant capacity yield. The variation in antioxidant quality was primarily genetically determined. Generally, the green lettuce genotypes exhibited more pronounced increases in antioxidant yields and total antioxidant capacity yield than the red lettuce genotypes under LN conditions. These results suggest that even though LN conditions generally tend to improve the antioxidant qualities of lettuce, the extent of this effect is highly dependent on genotype. 7Impact of COVID-2019 on stroke services in China: survey from the Chinese Stroke Association显示文摘Background The COVID-19 pandemic and physical distancing guidelines have compelled stroke practices worldwide to reshape their delivery of care significantly.We aimed to illustrate how the stroke services were interrupted during the pandemic in China.Methods A 61-item questionnaire designed on Wenjuanxing Form was completed by doctors or nurses who were involved in treating patients with stroke from 1 February to 31 March 2020.Results A total of 415 respondents completed the online survey after informed consent was obtained.Of the respondents,37.8%,35.2%and 27.0%were from mild,moderate and severe epidemic areas,respectively.Overall,the proportion of severe impact(reduction>50%)on the admission of transient ischaemic stroke,acute ischaemic stroke(AIS)and intracerebral haemorrhage(ICH)was 45.0%,32.0%and 27.5%,respectively.Those numbers were 36.9%,27.9%and 22.3%;36.5%,22.1%and 22.6%;and 66.4%,47.5%and 41.1%in mild,moderate and severe epidemic areas,respectively(all p<0.0001).For AIS,thrombolysis was moderate(20%-50%reduction)or severely impacted(>50%),as reported by 54.4%of the respondents,while thrombectomy was 39.3%.These were 44.4%,26.3%;44.2%,39.4%;and 78.2%,56.5%,in mild,moderate and severe epidemic areas,respectively(all p<0.0001).For patients with acute ICH,39.8%reported the impact was severe or moderate for those eligible for surgery who had surgery.Those numbers were 27.4%,39.0%and 58.1%in mild,moderate and severe epidemic areas,respectively.For staff resources,about 20%(overall)to 55%(severe epidemic)of the respondents reported moderate or severe impact on the on-duty doctors and nurses.Conclusion We found a significant reduction of admission for all types of patients with stroke during the pandemic.Patients were less likely to receive appropriate care,for example,thrombolysis/thrombectomy,after being admitted to the hospital.Stroke service in severe COVID-19 epidemic areas,for example,Wuhan,was much more severely impacted compared with other regions in China.Xia Wang Menglu Ouyang Cheryl Carcel Chen Chen Lingli Sun Jie Yang Yao Zhang Guofang Chen Shoujiang You Yongjun Cao Lu Ma Xin Hu Yi Sui Craig Anderson Lili Song Yongjun Wang David Wang 2020Stroke & Vascular Neurology2020,5,4:2

9Screwdriver-like Pd-Ag heterostructures formed via selective deposition of Ag on Pd nanowires as efficient photocatalysts for solvent-free aerobic oxidation of toluene显示文摘Heterostructured bimetal nanocrystals with a component having localized surface plasmon resonance(LSPR)property are promising photocatalysts for a series of reactions.In this work,kinetic products of Pd-Ag with a screwdriver-like heterostructure have been successfully fabricated via the selective epitaxial growth of Ag on Pd nanowires(NWs).It was confirmed that the deposition rate(Vdeposition)of Ag is much more sensitive to the temperature,compared to the surface diffusion rate(Vdiffusion)which can be effectively reduced by the binding of poly(vinylpyrrolidone)(PVP)molecules.Then the magnitude of Vdeposition/Vdiffusion has been well tailored for the formation of a kinetic growth environment.The interactions between the components of the as-prepared Pd-Ag heterostructures resulted in intensified LSPR effects.As a result,they gained better photocatalytic performance toward solvent free aerobic oxidation of toluene than Pd NWs,Ag NWs and the mixture of them.Additionally,the Pd-Ag heterostructured nanocrystals exhibited excellent catalytic stability for recycling.This work not only presents an idea for realizing kinetic growth but also supports that LSPR effect is a good tool for improving the photocatalytic activity.Caihong He Lingli Yu Na Lu Wenjing Wang Wei Chen Shaojie Lu Yun Yang Dekun Ma Shaoming Huang 2020Nano Research2020,13,3:2
10Effect of Soil Drying Intensity During an Experimental Drying-Rewetting Event on Nutrient Transformation and Microbial Community Composition显示文摘Soil drying-rewetting(DRW) events affect nutrient transformation and microbial community composition; however, little is known about the influence of drying intensity during the DRW events. Therefore, we analyzed soil nutrient composition and microbial communities with exposure to various drying intensities during an experimental drying-rewetting event, using a silt loam from a grassland of northern China, where the semi-arid climate exposes soils to a wide range of moisture conditions, and grasslands account for over 40% of the nation's land area. We also conducted a sterilization experiment to examine the contribution of soil microbes to nutrient pulses. Soil drying-rewetting decreased carbon(C) mineralization by 9%–27%. Both monosaccharide and mineral nitrogen(N) contents increased with higher drying intensities(drying to ≤ 10% gravimetric water content), with the increases being 204% and 110% with the highest drying intensity(drying to 2% gravimetric water content), respectively, whereas labile phosphorus(P)only increased(by 105%) with the highest drying intensity. Moreover, levels of microbial biomass C and N and dissolved organic N decreased with increasing drying intensity and were correlated with increases in dissolved organic C and mineral N, respectively,whereas the increases in labile P were not consistent with reductions in microbial biomass P. The sterilization experiment results indicated that microbes were primarily responsible for the C and N pulses, whereas non-microbial factors were the main contributors to the labile P pulses. Phospholipid fatty acid analysis indicated that soil microbes were highly resistant to drying-rewetting events and that drought-resistant groups were probably responsible for nutrient transformation. 13Dorsal root ganglion progenitors differentiate to gamma-aminobutyric acid-and choline acetyltransferase-positive neurons显示文摘This study examined the isolation and differentiation of dorsal root ganglion progenitor cells for therapeutic use in neurodegenerative diseases. Rat embryonic dorsal root ganglia progenitors were isolated and purified using the differential adhesion method combined with cytosine arabinoside treatment. After culture in serum-free medium supplemented with B27, basic fibroblast growth factor and epidermal growth factor, these cells remained viable and survived for more than 18 months in vitro. Most cells differentiated to neurons that were immunoreactive for gamma-aminobutyric acid and choline acetyltransferase as detected by immunohistochemical staining. In addition, nerve growth factor and neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor expression were also observed in dorsal root ganglion progenitors and differentiated cells. 14Effect of Balanced Application of Potash Fertilizer on the Yield of Rice Yongyou 15 and Soil Nutrient Content显示文摘By the field experiment,we set up the treatments of non-application of potash fertilizer,conventional fertilization,balanced fertilization and halved application of potash fertilizer,and studied the effect of different treatments on rice yield and soil nutrient content. The results showed that compared with non-application of potash fertilizer,conventional fertilization and balanced fertilization significantly increased the spike length,thousand kernel weight,yield and total potassium content of the stalk,as well as soil organic matter,total nitrogen and available phosphorus content; compared with conventional fertilization,the balanced fertilization did not significantly increase the rice growth and yield,but effectively increased rice grain total nitrogen,stalk total nitrogen and total phosphorus content,as well as soil available phosphorus and available potassium content. 15Low-carbohydrate diets lead to greater weight loss and better glucose homeostasis than exercise: a randomized clinical trial显示文摘Lifestyle interventions,including dietary adjustments and exercise,are important for obesity management.This study enrolled adults with overweight or obesity to explore whether either low-carbohydrate diet(LCD)or exercise is more effective in metabolism improvement.Forty-five eligible subjects were randomly divided into an LCD group(n=22)and an exercise group(EX,n=23).The subjects either adopted LCD(carbohydrate intake<50 g/day)or performed moderate-to-vigorous exercise(≥30 min/day)for 3 weeks.After the interventions,LCD led to a larger weight loss than EX(−3.56±0.37 kg vs.−1.24±0.39 kg,P<0.001),as well as a larger reduction in fat mass(−2.10±0.18 kg vs.−1.25±0.24 kg,P=0.007)and waist circumference(−5.25±0.52 cm vs.−3.45±0.38 cm,P=0.008).Both interventions reduced visceral and subcutaneous fat and improved liver steatosis and insulin resistance.Triglycerides decreased in both two groups,whereas low-density lipoprotein cholesterol increased in the LCD group but decreased in the EX group.Various glycemic parameters,including serum glycated albumin,mean sensor glucose,coefficient of variability(CV),and largest amplitude of glycemic excursions,substantially declined in the LCD group.Only CV slightly decreased after exercise.This pilot study suggested that the effects of LCD and exercise are similar in alleviating liver steatosis and insulin resistance.Compared with exercise,LCD might be more efficient for weight loss and glucose homeostasis in people with obesity.Lingli Cai Jun Yin Xiaojing Ma Yifei Mo Cheng Li Wei Lu Yuqian Bao Jian Zhou Weiping Jia 2021Frontiers of Medicine2021,15,3:1
16Functional characterization of powdery mildew resistance gene MIIW172,a new Pm60 allele and its allelic variation in wild emmer wheat显示文摘Wild emmer wheat(Triticum dicoccoides,WEW)is an immediate progenitor of both the cultivated tetraploid and hexaploid wheats and it harbors rich genetic diversity against powdery mildew caused by Blumeria graminis f.sp.tritici(Bgt).A powdery mildew resistance gene Ml I^(W172)originated from WEW accession I^(W172)(G-797-M)is fine mapped in a 0.048 centimorgan(c M)genetic interval on 7 AL,corresponding to a genomic region spanning 233 kb,1 Mb and 800 kb in Chinese Spring,WEW Zavitan,and T.urartu G1812,respectively.Ml I^(W172)encodes a typical NLR protein NLRI^(W172)and physically locates in an NBS-LRR gene cluster.NLRI^(W172)is subsequently identified as a new allele of Pm60,and its function is validated by EMS mutagenesis and transgenic complementation.Haplotype analysis of the Pm60 alleles reveals diversifications in sequence variation in the locus and presence and absence variations(PAV)in WEW populations.Four common single nucleotide variations(SNV)are detected between the Pm60 alleles from WEW and T.urartu,indicative of speciation divergence between the two different wheat progenitors.The newly identified Pm60 alleles and haplotypes in WEW are anticipated to be valuable for breeding powdery mildew resistance wheat cultivars via marker-assisted selection.Qiuhong Wu Yongxing Chen Beibei Li Jing Li Panpan Zhang Jingzhong Xie Huaizhi Zhang Guanghao Guo Ping Lu Miaomiao Li Keyu Zhu Wenling Li Tzion Fahima Eviatar Nevo Hongjie Li Lingli Dong Zhiyong Liu 2022Journal of Genetics and Genomics2022,49,8:0
17A 36 Mb terminal deletion of chromosome 2BL is responsible for a wheat semi-dwarf mutation显示文摘Reduced plant height is one of the most important traits related to lodging resistance and crop yield. The use of reduced height genes has been one of the main features in breeding modern high-yielding wheat varieties with less lodging. A spontaneous dwarf mutant DD399 was identified in a high yielding, gibberellic acid(GA)-insensitive, lodging-resistant variety Nongda 399(ND399). Significant differences in upper internode lengths between mutant DD399 and wild type ND399 were caused by reduced cell elongation. The plant height of ND399 × DD399 F_(1) hybrids was intermediate between the parents, indicating incomplete dominance or a dose–response effect of a reduced height gene. Plant height showed continuous distribution in the F_(2) population, and segregation distortion was observed among the 2292 F_(2:3) progenies. The reduced height mutation was characterized by Illumina 90 K iSelect SNP genotyping and bulked segregant RNA-Seq(BSR-Seq) analysis of the segregating population. A concentrated cluster of polymorphic SNPs associated with the reduced height phenotype was detected in the distal region of chromosome arm 2 BL. 18Penetration of foliar-applied Zn and its impact on apple plant nutrition status:in vivo evaluation by synchrotron-based X-ray fluorescence microscopy显示文摘The absorption of foliar fertilizer is a complex process and is poorly understood.The ability to visualize and quantify the pathway that elements take following their application to leaf surfaces is critical for understanding the science and for practical applications of foliar fertilizers.By the use of synchrotron-based X-ray fluorescence to analyze the in vivo localization of elements,our study aimed to investigate the penetration of foliar-applied Zn absorbed by apple(Malus domestica Borkh.)leaves with different physiological surface properties,as well as the possible interactions between foliar Zn level and the mineral nutrient status of treated leaves.The results indicate that the absorption of foliar-applied Zn was largely dependent on plant leaf surface characteristics.High-resolution elemental maps revealed that the high binding capacity of the cell wall for Zn contributed to the observed limitation of Zn penetration across epidermal cells.Trichome density and stomatal aperture had opposite effects on Zn fertilizer penetration:a relatively high density of trichomes increased the hydrophobicity of leaves,whereas the presence of stomata facilitated foliar Zn penetration.Low levels of Zn promoted the accumulation of other mineral elements in treated leaves,and the complexation of Zn with phytic acid potentially occurred owing to exposure to high-Zn conditions.The present study provides direct visual evidence for the Zn penetration process across the leaf surface,which is important for the development of strategies for Zn biofortification in crop species.Ruohan Xie Jianqi Zhao Lingli Lu Patrick Brown Jiansheng Guo Shengke Tian 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:0
