| 1 | Aspirin alleviates endothelial gap junction dysfunction through inhibition of NLRP3inflammasome activation in LPS-induced vascular injury显示文摘The loss of endothelial connective integrity and endothelial barrier dysfunction can lead to increased vascular injury, which is related to the activation of endothelial inflammasomes. There are evidences that low concentrations of aspirin can effectively prevent cardiovascular diseases. We hypothesized that low-dose aspirin could ameliorate endothelial injury by inhibiting the activation of NLRP3 inflammasomes and ultimately prevent cardiovascular diseases. Microvascular endothelial cells were stimulated by lipopolysaccharide(2 μg/mL) and administrated by 0.1–2 mmol/L aspirin. The wild type mice were stimulated with LPS(100 μg/kg/day), and 1 h later treated with aspirin(12.5, 62.5, or125 mg/kg/day) and dexamethasone(0.0182 mg/kg/day) for 7 days. Plasma and heart were harvested for measurement of ELISA and immunofluorescence analyses. We found that aspirin could inhibit NLRP3 inflammasome formation and activation in vitro in dose-dependent manner and has correlation between the NLRP3 inflammasome and the ROS/TXNIP pathway. We also found that low-concentration aspirin could inhibit the formation and activation of NLRP3 inflammasome and restore the expression of theendothelial tight junction protein zonula occludens-1/2(ZO1/2). | 3 | Human β-defensin 3 gene modification promotes the osteogenic differentiation of human periodontal ligament cells and bone repair in periodontitis显示文摘Efforts to control inflammation and achieve better tissue repair in the treatment of periodontitis have been ongoing for years.Humanβ-defensin 3,a broad-spectrum antimicrobial peptide has been proven to have a variety of biological functions in periodontitis;however,relatively few reports have addressed the effects of human periodontal ligament cells(h PDLCs)on osteogenic differentiation.In this study,we evaluated the osteogenic effects of h PDLCs with an adenoviral vector encoding humanβ-defensin 3 in an inflammatory microenvironment.Then humanβ-defensin 3 gene-modified rat periodontal ligament cells were transplanted into rats with experimental periodontitis to observe their effects on periodontal bone repair.We found that the humanβ-defensin 3 gene-modified h PDLCs presented with high levels of osteogenesis-related gene expression and calcium deposition.Furthermore,the p38 MAPK pathway was activated in this process.In vivo,humanβ-defensin 3 gene-transfected rat PDLCs promoted bone repair in SD rats with periodontitis,and the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)pathway might also have been involved.These findings demonstrate that humanβ-defensin 3 accelerates osteogenesis and that humanβ-defensin 3 gene modification may offer a potential approach to promote bone repair in patients with periodontitis. | Lingjun Li Han Jiang Rixin Chen Jing Zhou Yin Xiao Yangheng Zhang Fuhua Yan | 2020 | International Journal of Oral Science2020,12,2: | 5 |
| 4 | Synthesis,characterization,and photocatalytic activity of porous La–N–co-doped TiO_2 nanotubes for gaseous chlorobenzene oxidation显示文摘The photocatalytic oxidation of gaseous chlorobenzene(CB) by the 365 nm-induced photocatalyst La/N–Ti O2, synthesized via a sol–gel and hydrothermal method, was evaluated. Response surface methodology(RSM) was used to model and optimize the conditions for synthesis of the photocatalyst. The optimal photocatalyst was 1.2La/0.5N–Ti O2(0.5) and the effects of La/N on crystalline structure, particle morphology, surface element content, and other structural characteristics were investigated by XRD(X-ray diffraction), TEM(Transmission Electron Microscopy), FTIR(Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), UV–vis(Ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy), and BET(Brunauer Emmett Teller). Greater surface area and smaller particle size were produced with the co-doped Ti O2 nanotubes than with reference Ti O2. The removal of CB was effective when performed using the synthesized photocatalyst,though it was less efficient at higher initial CB concentrations. Various modified Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetic models involving the adsorption of chlorobenzene and water on different active sites were evaluated. Fitting results suggested that competitive adsorption caused by water molecules could not be neglected, especially for environments with high relative humidity. The reaction intermediates found after GC–MS(Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry) analysis indicated that most were soluble, low-toxicity, or both. | 5 | Evaluation of the carbon isotopic effects of NDIR and CRDS analyzers on atmospheric CO2 measurements显示文摘Non-dispersive infrared(NDIR) and cavity ring-down spectroscopy(CRDS) CO_2 analyzers use 12CO_2 isotopologue absorption lines and are insensitive to all or part of other CO_2-related isotopologues. This may produce biases in CO_2 mole fraction measurements of a sample if its carbon isotopic composition deviates from that of the standard gases being used. To evaluate and compare the effects of carbon isotopic composition on NDIR and CRDS CO_2 analyzers, we prepared three test sample air cylinders with varying carbon isotopic abundances and calibrated them against five standard cylinders with ambient carbon isotopic composition using CRDS and NDIR systems. We found that the CO_2 mole fractions of the sample cylinders measured by G1301(CRDS) were in good agreement with those measured by Lo Flo(NDIR). The CO_2 values measured by both instruments were higher than that of a CO_2 isotope measured by G2201i(CRDS) analyzer for a test cylinder with depleted carbon isotopic composition δ^(13)C =-36.828‰, whereas no obvious difference was found for other two test cylinders with δ^(13)C=-8.630‰ and δ^(13)C=-15.380‰, respectively. | 6 | Impact of pre-oxidation on the formation of byproducts in algae-laden water disinfection:Insights from fluorescent and molecular weight显示文摘Pre-oxidation has been reported to be an effective way to remove algal cells in water, but the released algal organic matter (AOM) could be oxidized and lead to the increment in disinfection by-product (DBP) formation. The relationship between pre-oxidation and AOM-derived DBP formation needs to be approached more precisely. This study compared the impact of four pre-oxidants, ozone (O), chlorine dioxide (ClO), potassium permanganate(KMnO) and sodium hypochlorite (NaClO), on the formation of nitrogenous (N-) and carbonaceous (C-) DBPs in AOM chlorination. The characterization (fluorescent properties,molecular weight distribution and amino acids concentration) on AOM samples showed that the characterization properties variations after pre-oxidation were highly dependent on the oxidizing ability of oxidants. The disinfection experiments showed that Oincreased DBP formation most significantly, which was consistent with the result of characterization properties variations. Then canonical correspondent analysis (CCA) and Pearson’s correlation analysis were conducted based on the characterization data and DBP formation. CCA indicated that C-DBPs formation was highly dependent on fluorescent data. The formation of haloacetic acids (HAAs) had a positive correlation with aromatic protein-like component while trichloromethane (TCM) had a positive correlation with fulvic acid-like component.Pearson’s correlation analysis showed that low molecular weight fractions were favorable to form N-DBPs. However, it is still a challenge to achieve high energy output at elevated power delivery due to the poor rate capability of battery-type electrode materials and the kinetic mismatch with capacitor-type electrode materials. In this work, to fabricate SICs, P2-Na_(0.67)Co_(0.5)Mn_(0.5)O_2(P2-NCM)was chosen as the battery-type cathode material, and a typical metal-organic framework(MOF) material,zeolitic imidazolate framework-8(ZIF-8) derived carbon(ZDC) was utilized as the capacitor-type anode material. | 9 | Unveiling the impact of residual Li conversion and cation ordering on electrochemical performance of Co-free Ni-rich cathodes显示文摘The residual Li and Li^(+)/Ni_(2)+cation mixing play essential roles in the electrochemical properties of Ni-rich cathodes.However,a general relationship between the residual Li conversion,cation mixing,and their effects on the Li^(+)kinetics and structural stability has yet to be established,due to the presence of cobalt in the cathode.Here,we explore the synergistic impact of the residual Li conversion and cation ordering on a Co-free Ni-rich cathode(i.e.,LiNi0.95Mn0.05O_(2)).It discloses that the rate capability is mainly affected by residual Li contents and operating voltage.Specifically,residual Li can be electrochemically converted to cathode electrolyte interphase(CEI)below 4.3 V,thus inducing high interphase resistance,and decomposes to produce CO_(2)-dominated gas at 4.5 V,causing temporary enhancement of Li^(+)diffusivity but severe surface degradation during cycling.Moreover,the cycling performance of Co-free Ni-rich cathode is not only determined by Li^(+)/Ni_(2)+cation-ordered superlattice,which enhances the structural stability as it functions as the pillar to impede lattice collapse at a highly charged state,but also by the robust CEI layers which protect the bulk from electrolyte attack under 4.3 V.These findings promote an in-depth understanding of residual Li conversion and Li^(+)/Ni_(2)+cation ordering on Co-free Ni-rich cathode. | Chu Wang Lei Tan Hongling Yi Zixiang Zhao Xiaoli Yi Youyuan Zhou Junchao Zheng Jiexi Wang Lingjun Li | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,10: | 1 |

| 12 | Insight into the mechanisms of trichloronitromethane formation by vacuum ultraviolet: QSAR model and FTICR-MS analysis显示文摘Vacuum ultraviolet(VUV) photolysis is recognized as an environmental-friendly treatment process. Nitrate(NO-3) and natural organic matter(NOM) are widely present in water source.We investigated trichloronitromethane(TCNM) formation during chlorination after VUV photolysis, because TCNM is an unregulated highly toxic disinfection byproduct. In this study:(1) we found reactive nitrogen species that is generated under VUV photolysis of NO-3react with organic matter to form nitrogen-containing compounds and subsequently form TCNM during chlorination;(2) we found the mere presence of 0.1 mmol/L NO-3can result in the formation of up to 63.96 μg/L TCNM;(3) we found the changes in pH(6.0-8.0), chloride(1-4 mmol/L), and bicarbonate(1-4 mmol/L) cannot effectively diminish TCNM formation;and,(4) we established the quantitative structure-activity relationship(QSAR) model,which indicated a linear relationship between TCNM formation and the Hammett constant(σ) of model compounds;and,(5) we characterized TCNM precursors in water matrix after VUV photolysis and found 1161 much more nitrogen-containing compounds with higher aromaticity were generated. | 13 | Atmospheric sulfur hexafluoride in-situ measurements at the Shangdianzi regional background station in China显示文摘We present in-situ measurements of atmospheric sulfur hexafluoride(SF6)conducted by an automated gas chromatograph–electron capture detector system and a gas chromatography/mass spectrometry system at a regional background site,Shangdianzi,in China,from June 2009 to May 2011,using the System for Observation of Greenhouse gases in Europe and Asia and Advanced Global Atmospheric Gases Experiment(AGAGE)techniques.The mean background and polluted mixing ratios for SF6during the study period were 7.22×10-12(mol/mol,hereinafter)and 8.66×10-12,respectively.The averaged SF6background mixing ratios at Shangdianzi were consistent with those obtained at other AGAGE stations located at similar latitudes(Trinidad Head and Mace Head),but larger than AGAGE stations in the Southern Hemisphere(Cape Grim and Cape Matatula).SF6background mixing ratios increased rapidly during our study period,with a positive growth rate at 0.30×10-12year-1.The peak to peak amplitude of the seasonal cycle for SF6background conditions was 0.07×10-12,while the seasonal fluctuation of polluted conditions was 2.16×10-12.During the study period,peak values of SF6mixing ratios occurred in autumn when local surface horizontal winds originated from W/WSW/SW/SWS/S sectors,while lower levels of SF6mixing ratios appeared as winds originated from N/NNE/NE/ENE/E sectors. | Bo Yao Lingxi Zhou Lingjun Xia Gen Zhang Lifeng Guo Zhao Liu Shuangxi Fang | 2014 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,12: | 0 |

| 15 | Factors influencing the degree of participation in surgical decision-making among Chinese patients with prostate cancer:A qualitative research显示文摘Objective:There was increasingly demand of participation in surgical decision-making among Chinese patients with prostate cancer.However,due to the complex healthcare system and advanced care settings,it is quite challenging for the patients to gain sufficient support from the institute and the government.This research aimed to investigate the factors that impact the degree of participation in surgical decision-making among Chinese prostate cancer patients.Methods:A phenomenological approach of qualitative research based on the results of semi-structured interviews was adopted,to explore the influencing factors which hinder the participation in surgical decision-making.Consolidated Criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research were utilized.Up to 160 post-operative patients who had undergone radical prostatectomy along with 68 medical and nursing staffs,were purposively recruited in this research.This retrospective study was carried out from September 2018 to August 2019.After recording and transcribing the interviews,the interview materials were evaluated via the Colaizzi's seven step approach and the NVivo Version 10 software to analyze the interview content.Results:According to the analysis and summary of the interviews,there were three factors affecting the degree of participation in surgical decision-making.Firstly,insufficient information was provided by medical and nursing staffs because of their lack of time,proper communication skills,and career experience,as well as difficulties in the development of patient decision aid and inconsistent resource availability.Secondly,the cognitive level of decision-making among patients was relatively low due to poor psychological endurance,insufficient amount of education,senility,and less knowledge and information demand.Ultimately,decisions were constantly made by family members with/without patients.Conclusions:The degree of participation of Chinese prostate cancer patients in the surgical decision-making had much space for improvement. | Jie Cao Chunxue Peng Xiaoying Lu Lingjun Zhou Jing Wu | 2022 | Asian Journal of Urology2022,9,2: | 0 |
| 16 | Spontaneous emission rate and optical amplification of Er3+ in double slot waveguide显示文摘The spontaneous emission(SE) of Er3+ embedded in a double slot dielectric structure was studied by a quantum-electrodynamical formalism. The study shows that the slot width and the position of Er3+ in slot structure have a significant effect on the SE. The double slot waveguides were fabricated by embedding two low-index Er/Yb silicate material layers into high-index silicon. The radiative efficiency of Er3+ in the double slot waveguides is found to be higher than that of the single slot waveguide, which is consistent with the theory simulation. The 0.67 d B signal enhancement at 1.53 ?m in a 4.6-mm-long slot waveguide was observed pumped by 1476 nm laser.
