| 1 | Long-term effect of stent placement in 115 patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome显示文摘AIM: To report the long-term effect of stent placement in 115 patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS).METHODS: One hundred and fifteen patients with BCS were treated by percutaneous stent placement. One hundred and two patients had IVC stent placement, 30 patients had HV stent placement, 17 of them underwent both IVC stent and HV stent. All the procedures were performed with guidance of ultrasound.RESULTS: The successful rates in placing IVC stent and HV stent were 94 % (96/102) and 87 % (26/30), respectively.Ninety-seven patients with 112 stents (90 IVC stents, 22 HV stents) were followed up. 96.7 %(87/90) IVC stents and 90.9 %(20/22) HV stents remained patent during follow up periods (mean 49 months, 45 months, respectively). Five of 112 stents in the 97 patients developed occlusion. Absence of anticoagulants after the procedure and types of obstruction (segmental and occlusive) before the procedure were related to a higher incidence of stent occlusion.CONCLUSION: Patients with BCS caused by short length obstruction can be treated by IVC stent placement, HV stent placement or both IVC and HV stent placement depending on the sites of obstruction. | 2 | Generation of cytotoxic T cell against HBcAg using retrovirally transduced dendritic cells显示文摘AIM: Cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) play an important role in resolving HBV infection. In the present study, we attempted to evaluate the efficiency of bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (DCs) transduced with recombinant retroviral vector bearing hepatitis B virus (HBV) core gene and the capability of generating CTLs against HBcAg by genetically modified DCs in vivo.METHODS: A retroviral vector containing HBV core gene was constructed. Replicating DC progenitor of C57BL/6 mice was transduced by retroviral vector and continually cultured in the presence of recombinant mouse granulocytemacrophage colony-stimulating factor (rmGM-CSF) and interleukin-4(IL-4) for 6 days. LPS was added and cultured for additional two days. The efficiency of gene transfer was determined by PCR, Western blot and FACS. Transduced DCs immunized C57BL/6 mice subcutaneously 2 times at an oneweek interval. Intracellular IFN-γ and IL-4 of immunized mice lymphocytes were analyzed. Generation of CTLs in lymphooytes stimulated with mitomycin C-treated EL4-C cell which stably expresses HBcAg was determined by LDH release assays.RESULTS: Recombinant retroviral expression vector (pLCSN) was positively detected by PCR as well as enzyme digestion with EcoRI and BamH I. Retroviruses were generated by pLCSN transfection packing cell and the virus titer was 3x10s CFU/ml. Indirect immunofluorescence and FACS showed that HBV core gene was expressed in murine fibroblasts. Transduced bone marrow cells had capability of differentiating into DCsc in vitro in the presence of rmGMCSF and rmIL-4. The result of PCR showed that HBV core gene was integrated into the genome of transduced DCs.Western blot analysis showed that HBV core gene was expressed in DCs. The transduction rate was 28 % determined by FACS. Retroviral transduction had no influence on DCs expressions of CD80 and MHC class Ⅱ. | 3 | Deformation characteristics and genesis of the Waziyu metamorphic core complex in western Liaoning of China显示文摘The Waziyu metamorphic core complex is situated at the eastern end of the Yanshan tectonic belt.The NNE-striking detachment ductile shear zone in the core complex lies between the Archean metamorphic basement and Fuxin-Yixian rift basin,dips NW gently,and shows corrugation folds.Exposure structures,microstructures,and quartz C-axis fabrics all indicate top-to-the WNW sense of shear,i.e.,ca.285°,for the shear zone.Estimates of the deformation temperatures(ca.550-250°C) demonstrate its mid-crustal origination and progressive deformation from deep to shallow levels.The northern segment of the shear zone shows relatively weak exhumation with exposures of low-temperature mylonites whereas its middle and southern segments have more intense uplifting with exposures of high-temperature mylonites.Biotite and muscovite 40 Ar/39 Ar ages,U-Pb dating results of zircon from dikes and plutons as well as formation ages of the supra-detachment basin all suggest the formation time of 135-100 Ma for the core complex.The formation was also associated with syntectonic emplacement of the Early Cretaceous Shishan pluton.The western margin of the core complex was truncated by the Sunjiawan-Shaohuyingzi brittle normal fault when it uplifted to shallow crust levels,and finally exhumed to near-surface levels.The core complex was developed by the rolling-hinge model under WNW-ESE extension during the Early Cretaceous peak destruction of the North China Craton.Ductile flow did not appear in the lower plate,therefore not supporting the low-crust gravitational collapse. | ZHANG BiLong ZHU Guang CHEN Yin PIAO XueFeng JU LinXue WANG HaoQian | 2012 | Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,11: | 4 |

| 8 | Genome-wide association analysis reveals genetic loci and candidate genes associated with intramuscular fat in Duroc pigs显示文摘Intramuscular fat(IMF) is a major meat-quality trait in pigs. The content of IMF is directly associated with the taste and flavor of pork. As a complex trait, there could be multiple genes affecting IMF content in pork. Genomewide association study is a powerful tool to detect genomic regions associated with phenotypic variations. The objectives of the present study were to identify or refine the positions of genomic regions affecting IMF, and to characterize candidate genes and pathways that may influence this trait. Of note, we identified a significant region in longissium dorsi muscle in a Duroc pig population for IMF content with Porcine SNP60 v2 Bead Chip. This region spans 1.24 Mb on chromosome 8 and had been identified as a quantitative trait locus for IMF in Pietrain, Large White, Landrace, and Leicoma pigs. In this region, eight SNPs were significantly associated with IMF content. Three genes proximal to these significant SNPs were considered candidate genes, including ZDHHC16, LOC102162218 and PCDH7. | 19 | A Study on the Recovery and Classification of Meteorites from the Mt. Grove Region of Antarctica显示文摘The Antarctic Continent has become the largest natural preservatory of meteorites in the world because of its unique geographical position and climatic conditions. Mt. Grove is located in the inland area of the Antarctic Continent where the conditions are favorable for the preservation of meteorites. During China's 15th, 16th and 19th Antarctic Scientific Explorations a large number of meteorites were recovered in the Mt. Grove region. Especially during the 19th Exploration in 2002/03 a total of 4448 meteorites were recovered, which at one stroke put China among countries that have recovered most numbers of meteorites. Here, we report mainly the results of microscope and electron microprobe studies of 28 meteorites recovered during the 16th Exploration. The meteorites are chemically classified based on their mean Fa contents of olivine, mean Fs contents of low-Ca pyroxene and abundances of Fe-Ni metal.
