| 3 | Kinetics of the accumulation of group 2 innate lymphoid cells in IL-33-induced and IL-25-induced murine models of asthma:a potential role for the chemokine CXCL16显示文摘ILC2s are implicated in asthma pathogenesis, but little is known about the mechanisms underlying their accumulation in airways.We investigated the time course of ILC2 accumulation in different tissues in murine models of asthma induced by a serial per-nasalchallenge with ovalbumin (OVA), house dust mice (HDM), IL-25 and IL-33 and explored the potential roles of ILC2-attractingchemokines in this phenomenon. Flow cytometry was used to enumerate ILC2s at various time points. The effects of cytokines andchemokines on ILC2 migration were measured in vitro using a chemotaxis assay and in vivo using small animal imaging. Comparedwith saline and OVA challenge, both IL-25 and IL-33 challenge alone induced significant accumulation of ILC2s in the mediastinallymph nodes, lung tissue and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of challenged animals, but with a distinct potency and kinetics. In vitro,IL-33 and CXCL16, but not IL-25 or CCL25, directly induced ILC2 migration. Small animal in vivo imaging further confirmed that asingle intranasal provocation with IL-33 or CXCL16 was sufficient to induce the accumulation of ILC2s in the lungs followinginjection via the tail vein. Moreover, IL-33-induced ILC2 migration involved the activation of ERK1/2, p38, Akt, JNK and NF-κB, whileCXCL16-induced ILC2 migration involved the activation of ERK1/2, p38 and Akt. These data support the hypothesis that epitheliumderived IL-25 and IL-33 induce lung accumulation of ILC2s, while IL-33 exerts a direct chemotactic effect in this process. | 4 | Direct generation of an ultrafast vortex beam in a CVD-graphene-based passively mode-locked Pr:LiYF4 visible laser显示文摘We report on the direct generation of passively mode-locked vortex lasers in the visible spectral region, for the first time to the best of our knowledge, using a Pr :Li YF4(Pr:YLF) crystal as the gain medium. A stable mode-locked TEM00 mode has been achieved with a maximum average output power of 75 m W using a graphene saturable absorber mirror. The mode-locked pulse width is measured to be as short as about 73.4 ps at a repetition rate of about 140 MHz, and the laser wavelength is at about 721 nm with spectral width of about 0.5 nm. By slightly misaligning the laser resonator, a first-order Laguerre-Gaussian mode(LG0,1) has also been obtained with output power reduced to about 22 m W. The achieved LG0,1 mode has been verified via a home made improved Fizeau interferometer. | 5 | Physiological effects of weightlessness: countermeasure system development for a long-term Chinese manned spaceflight显示文摘The Chinese space station will be built around 2020. As a national space laboratory, it will offer unique opportunities for studying the physiological effects of weightlessness and the efficacy of the countermeasures against such effects. In this paper, we described the development of countermeasure systems in the Chinese space program. To emphasize the need of the Chinese space program to implement its own program for developing countermeasures, we reviewed the literature on the negative physiological effects of weightlessness, the challenges of completing missions, the development of countermeasure devices, the establishment of countermeasure programs, and the efficacy of the countermeasure techniques in American and Russian manned spaceflights. | 6 | Formation mechanism of a smooth, defectfree surface of fused silica optics using rapid CO2 laser polishing显示文摘Surface defects introduced by conventional mechanical processing methods can induce irreversible damage and reduce the service life of optics applied in high-power lasers.Compared to mechanical processing,laser polishing with moving beam spot is a noncontact processing method,which is able to form a defect-free surface.This work aims to explore the mechanism of forming a smooth,defect-free fused silica surface by high-power density laser polishing with coupled multiple beams.The underlying mechanisms of laser polishing was revealed by numerical simulations and the theoretical results were verified by experiments.The simulated polishing depth and machined surface morphology were in close agreement with the experimental results.To obtain the optimized polishing quality,the effects of laser polishing parameters(e.g.overlap rate,pulse width and polishing times)on the polishing quality were experimentally investigated.It was found that the processing efficiency of fused silica materials by carbon dioxide(CO2)laser polishing could reach 8.68 mm2 s−1,and the surface roughness(Ra)was better than 25 nm.Besides,the cracks on pristine fused silica surfaces introduced by initial grinding process were completely removed by laser polishing to achieve a defect-free surface.The maximum laser polishing rate can reach 3.88μm s−1,much higher than that of the traditional mechanical polishing methods.The rapid CO2 laser polishing can effectively achieve smooth,defect-free surface,which is of great significance to improve the surface quality of fused silica optics applied in high-power laser facilities. | Linjie Zhao Jian Cheng Mingjun Chen Xiaodong Yuan Wei Liao Qi Liu Hao Yang Haijun Wang | 2019 | International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing2019,1,3: | 8 |
| 7 | Reduced Graphene Oxide Mediated SnO_2 Nanocrystals for Enhanced Gas-sensing Properties显示文摘SnO2 ereduced graphene oxide (SnO2-rGO) composites were prepared via a hydro-thermal reaction of graphene oxide (GO) and SnCl2·2H2O in the mixed solvent of ethylene glycol and water. During the redox reaction, GO was reduced to rGO while Sn2+ was oxidized to SnO2, uniformly depositing on the surface of rGO sheets. The composites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), infrared spectra analysis (IR) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), respectively, and their gas sensing properties were further investigated. Compared with pure SnO2 nanoparticles, the as-prepared SnO2-rGO gas sensor showed much better gas sensing behavior in sensitivity and response-recovery time to ethanol and H2S at low concentrations. The switch fabric consists of 56 2 × 2 Mach–Zehnder interferometer based elementary switches, with each integrated with a pair of waveguide microheaters. The average on-chip insertion loss is ~5.2 dB for both of the 'all-cross' and the 'all-bar' states, with a loss variation of 1 dB over all routing paths. The cross talk for all switching states is better than -30 d B. The switching time of the switch element is about 22 μs. | 10 | Human CMTM2/CKLFSF2 enhances the ligand-induced transactivation of the androgen receptor显示文摘CKLF (chemokine-like factor)-like MARVEL (MAL and related proteins for vesicle trafficking and mem-brane link domain) transmembrane domain containing (CMTM) is a novel gene family. One member of this family, CMTM2, also named chemokine-like factor superfamily 2 (CKLFSF2), is expressed highly in the testis and moderately in the prostate, marrow and peripheral blood cells. However, the function of human CMTM2 remains unknown. Here, we found that CMTM2 was upregulated in 5α-dihydrotestos- terone (DHT)-treated LNCaP cells. We investigated the relationship between CMTM2 and the androgen receptor. Our results showed that CMTM2 enhanced DHT-mediated androgen receptor (AR) transacti-vation and the expression of prostate specific antigen (PSA). We also observed that CMTM2 enhanced the AR protein level, which was reversed by silencing endogenous CMTM2 expression, which sug-gested that CMTM2 might play an important role in maintaining the AR protein level. We also found that CMTM2 suppressed Akt activation. A previous study showed that Akt could phosphorylate AR at Ser210 and Ser790 and lead to AR ubiquitylation and degradation as well as suppression of AR activity. | 15 | A comprehensive CFD combustion model for supercritical CFB boilers显示文摘A combustion model of a large-scale supercritical circulati ng fluidized bed (CFB) boiler was developed for comprehensive computational-fluid-dynamics analysis. The model incorporates gas-solid hydrodynamics, coal combustion, heat transfer on heat exchange surfaces in the furnace, and heat transfer between fumace and working medium in the heat transfer tubes. In simulating the dense and dilute phases in the fumace, the gas-solid hydrodynamics is based on the Euler-Euler model and energy-minimization multiscale drag model. Coal combustion entails evaporation, devolatilization, char combustion, gas homoge neous reaction, and pollutant emission. The coefficient ofheat transfer between gas-solid and the waterwall is estimated using the cluster renewal model, and for radiation, the discrete ordinate model is used. Moreover, thermohydraulic processes in the membrane wall are also in eluded in the heat transfer process. The model was successfully applied in simulations of a 350-MW supercritical CFB boiler. NB degradation, coupled with dissimilatory iron reduction, is one of the most efficient pollutant removal methods. However, research on NB degradation coupled to indigenous microorganism dissimilatory iron reduction stimulated by electron donors is still experimental. A model for remediation in an actual polluted site does not currently exist.Therefore, in this study, the dynamics was derived from the Michaelis–Menten model(when the mass ratio of emulsified vegetable oil and NB reached the critical value 91:1). The effect of SO_4^(2-), NO_3^-, Ca^(2+)/Mg^(2+), and the grain size of aquifer media on the dynamics were studied, and the NB degradation dynamic model was then modified based on the most significant factors.
