| 1 | Temporal and spatial changes in nutrients and chlorophyll-a in a shallow lake,Lake Chaohu, China: An 11-year investigation显示文摘Temporal and spatial changes of total nitrogen(TN),total phosphorus(TP) and chlorophyll-a(Chl-a) in a shallow lake,Lake Chaohu,China,were investigated using monthly monitoring data from 2001 through 2011.The results showed that the annual mean concentration ranges of TN,TP,and Chl-a were 0.08-14.60 mg/L,0.02-1.08 mg/L,and 0.10-465.90 μg/L,respectively.Our data showed that Lake Chaohu was highly eutrophic and that water quality showed no substantial improvement during 2001 through 2011.The mean concentrations of TP,TN and Chl-a in the western lake were significantly higher than in the eastern lake,which indicates a spatial distribution of the three water parameters.The annual mean ratio of TN:TP by weight ranged from 10 to 20,indicating that phosphorus was the limiting nutrient in this lake.A similar seasonality variation for TP and Chl-a was observed.Riverine TP and NH4+ loading from eight major tributaries were in the range of 1.56 × 104-5.47 × 104 and 0.19 × 104-0.51 × 104 tons/yr over 2002-2011,respectively,and exceeded the water environmental capability of the two nutrients in the lake by a factor of 3-6.Thus reduction of nutrient loading in the sub-watershed and tributaries would be essential for the restoration of Lake Chaohu. | Libiao Yang Kun Lei Wei Meng Guo Fu Weijin Yan | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,6: | 19 |

| 11 | Brain-wide Mapping of Mono-synaptic Afferents to Different Cell Types in the Laterodorsal Tegmentum显示文摘The laterodorsal tegmentum(LDT) is a brain structure involved in distinct behaviors including arousal,reward, and innate fear. How environmental stimuli and top-down control from high-order sensory and limbic cortical areas converge and coordinate in this region to modulate diverse behavioral outputs remains unclear.Using a modified rabies virus, we applied monosynaptic retrograde tracing to the whole brain to examine the LDT cell type specific upstream nuclei. The LDT received very strong midbrain and hindbrain afferents and moderate cortical and hypothalamic innervation but weak connections to the thalamus. The main projection neurons from cortical areas were restricted to the limbic lobe, including the ventral orbital cortex(VO), prelimbic, and cingulate cortices. Although different cell populations received qualitatively similar inputs, primarily via afferents from the periaqueductal gray area, superior colliculus, and the LDT itself, parvalbumin-positive(PV?) GABAergic cells received preferential projections from local LDT neurons.With regard to the different subtypes of GABAergic cells, aconsiderable number of nuclei, including those of the ventral tegmental area, central amygdaloid nucleus, and VO, made significantly greater inputs to somatostatinpositive cells than to PV?cells. | 16 | Detection of diverse viruses in alimentary specimens of bats in Macao显示文摘Bats carry a variety of viruses, and some of them cause public health problems. Macao, which is famous for its gambling industry, has a complex population structure. The globalization in such an international metropolis has enhanced the chance of disease transmission. Therefore, surveillance of zoonotic viruses is necessary for the early warning of potential emerging infectious diseases.Here, we report the first surveillance of bat viruses in Macao. In this study, we collected 1004 samples involving 10 bat species from 7 sites from April 2015 to May 2016, and examined the presence of viruses using nucleic acid-based methods. Coronaviruses, adenoviruses and paramyxoviruses were detected in these samples, with a high prevalence of coronaviruses. While,none was positive for hepatitis A virus, hepatitis E virus or hantavirus. | 17 | Research on encoding and decoding of non-binary polar codes over GF(2m)显示文摘Binary Polar Codes (BPCs) have advantages of high-efficiency and capacity-achieving but suffer from large latency due to the Successive-Cancellation List (SCL) decoding. Non-Binary Polar Codes (NBPCs) have been investigated to obtain the performance gains and reduce latency under the implementation of parallel architectures for multi-bit decoding. However, most of the existing works only focus on the Reed-Solomon matrix-based NBPCs and the probability domain-based non-binary polar decoding, which lack flexible structure and have a large computation amount in the decoding process, while little attention has been paid to general non-binary kernel-based NBPCs and Log-Likelihood Ratio (LLR) based decoding methods. In this paper, we consider a scheme of NBPCs with a general structure over GF(2m). Specifically, we pursue a detailed Monte-Carlo simulation implementation to determine the construction for proposed NBPCs. For non-binary polar decoding, an SCL decoding based on LLRs is proposed for NBPCs, which can be implemented with non-binary kernels of arbitrary size. Moreover, we propose a Perfect Polarization-Based SCL (PPB-SCL) algorithm based on LLRs to reduce decoding complexity by deriving a new update function of path metric for NBPCs and eliminating the path splitting process at perfect polarized (i.e., highly reliable) positions. Simulation results show that the bit error rate of the proposed NBPCs significantly outperforms that of BPCs.
