1晚期卵巢癌、输卵管癌及原发性腹膜癌腹腔镜肿瘤细胞减灭术的安全性及有效性研究显示文摘目的总结晚期卵巢癌、输卵管癌和腹膜癌患者行腹腔镜初次或间歇性肿瘤细胞减灭术的临床经验。方法回顾分析接受腹腔镜肿瘤细胞减灭术的晚期卵巢癌(FIGOⅡc期以上)、输卵管癌和原发性腹膜癌患者临床资料。结果 32名患者接受腹腔镜评估手术。17例接受全腹腔镜肿瘤细胞减灭术,其中88.2%为满意的肿瘤细胞减灭术;11例腹腔镜评估后转开腹肿瘤细胞减灭术,其中72.7%为满意的肿瘤细胞减灭术;4例仅进行活检和(或)姑息手术。腹腔镜组平均随访时间19.7月9,例无瘤生存6,例带瘤生存2,例因肿瘤死亡。开腹组平均随访时间25.8月,3例无瘤生存,5例带瘤生存,3例因肿瘤死亡。腹腔镜组术中失血量较少,术后住院时间较短(P=0.008和P=0.03),但手术时间及并发症发生率与开腹组相比无统计学差异。中位复发时间,腹腔镜组为31.7月,开腹组为21.5个月(P=0.3)。结论对于经过精心挑选的晚期卵巢癌、输卵管癌和原发性腹膜癌病例,采用腹腔镜进行诊断、分期和肿瘤细胞减灭术,在技术上是可行的。李萌 熊光武 Farr R.Nezhat Shaghayegh M.DeNoble Connie S.Liu Jennifer E.Cho Douglas N.Brown Linus Chuang Herbert Gretz Prakash Saharia 2012中国微创外科杂志2012,12,2:11
2Harvest and Postharvest Factors Affecting Bruise Damage of Fresh Fruits显示文摘Fresh fruits are susceptible to bruising, a common type of mechanical damage during harvest and at all stages of postharvest handling. In quest of developing and adoption of strategies to reduce bruise damage, it is of utmost importance to understand major factors influencing bruise susceptibility of fresh produce at these stages. This review presents a critical discussion of factors affecting bruising during harvest and postharvest handling of fresh fruits. Excessive compression forces during harvesting by handpicking or machines, and a series of impacts during harvesting, transport and packhouse operations can cause severe bruise damage. The review has further revealed that bruising is dependent on a number of other factors such as produce maturity, ripening, harvest time(during the day or season) and time lapse after harvest. The susceptibility to bruising is partly dependent on how these factors alter the produce physiological and biochemical properties, and the environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity and several other postharvest treatments. Hence, the successful applications of harvesting techniques by use of trained personnel and proper harvesting equipment are essential to reduce both the incidence and severity of bruising.Furthermore, the careful selection of postharvest handling temperature and other treatments can increase resistance of fresh produce to bruise damage.Zaharan Hussein Olaniyi AFawole Umezuruike Linus Opara 2020Horticultural Plant Journal2020,6,1:11

7A machine-learned interatomic potential for silica and its relation to empirical models显示文摘Silica(SiO_(2))is an abundant material with a wide range of applications.Despite much progress,the atomistic modelling of the different forms of silica has remained a challenge.Here we show that by combining density-functional theory at the SCAN functional level with machine-learning-based interatomic potential fitting,a range of condensed phases of silica can be accurately described.We present a Gaussian approximation potential model that achieves high accuracy for the thermodynamic properties of the crystalline phases,and we compare its performance(and performance–cost trade-off)with that of multiple empirically fitted interatomic potentials for silica.We also include amorphous phases,assessing the ability of the potentials to describe structures of melt-quenched glassy silica,their energetic stability,and the high-pressure structural transition to a mainly sixfold-coordinated phase.We suggest that rather than standing on their own,machine-learned potentials for silica may be used in conjunction with suitable empirical models,each having a distinct role and complementing the other,by combining the advantages of the long simulation times afforded by empirical potentials and the near-quantum-mechanical accuracy of machine-learned potentials.This way,our work is expected to advance atomistic simulations of this key material and to benefit further computational studies in the field.Linus C.Erhard Jochen Rohrer Karsten Albe Volker L.Deringer 2022npj Computational Materials2022,,1:3

11Antimalarial potency of the leaf extract of Aspilia africana(Pers.) 12Analysis of genetic diversity in banana cultivars(Musa cvs.) from the South of Oman using AFLP markers and classification by phylogenetic,hierarchical clustering and principal component analyses显示文摘Banana is an important crop grown in Oman and there is a dearth of information on its genetic diversity to assist in crop breeding and improvement programs.This study employed amplified fragment length polymorphism(AFLP) to investigate the genetic variation in local banana cultivars from the southern region of Oman.Using 12 primer combinations,a total of 1094 bands were scored,of which 1012 were polymorphic.Eighty-two unique markers were identified,which revealed the distinct separation of the seven cultivars.The results obtained show that AFLP can be used to differentiate the banana cultivars.Further classification by phylogenetic,hierarchical clustering and principal component analyses showed significant differences between the clusters found with molecular markers and those clusters created by previous studies using morphological analysis.Based on the analytical results,a consensus dendrogram of the banana cultivars is presented.Umezuruike Linus OPARA Dan JACOBSON Nadiya Abubakar AL-SAADY 2010Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2010,11,5:2
13Effect of Integrated Use of Inorganic Fertilizer and Organic Manures on Bacterial Wilt Incidence (BWI) and Tuber Yield in Potato Production Systems on Hill Slopes of Central Kenya显示文摘Bacterial wilt (BW) caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is one of the most damaging diseases of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) in Kenya and worldwide. In Kenya, potato tuber yield losses due to BW infection are estimated at 50 ~ 100%. Low soil fertility is also one of the most important constraints limiting potato production in central Kenya highlands. Farmers tackle this problem through use of inorganic fertilisers and organic manures, both of which amend the soil environment to influence bacterial wilt development.Undecomposed organic manures can also introduce the pathogen into a clean field. Between short rains 1999 and 2000, 10 on-farm extension-researcherfarmer-designed and farmer-managed trials were done at Kianjuki catchment in Embu District. The objective was to use farmers' participatory research approach and select the most suitable organic and inorganic fertiliser combination(s) with lowest BWI and acceptable usable tuber yields, and also to demonstrate use of some components of integrated disease management methods in reduction of disease incidence and spread. Seven treatments were proposed, presented to the farmers for discussion and the most relevant four were selected for evaluation.during the short rains 1999 and long rains 2000. BWI didn't result in significant differences between treatments but the tuber yields were significantly different in short rains of 1999 and 2000. During short rains 2000, both BWI and tuber yields and unusable tubers differed significantly between treatments. The results confirmed that welldecomposed manures or manures from pathogen-free areas can be used in combination with inorganic fertilisers to improve soil fertility and potato tuber yields in smallholder farms without influencing BWI.Use of certified seed tubers in pathogen free field and following recommended field sanitation measures resulted in apparently bacterial wilt free crop.Considering the high cost of inorganic fertiliser and its negative effects on the environment, reduced usage at half the recommended rates combined with half rates of FYM is feasible option friendly to the farmer,soil and environment. The interviewed farmers also ranked the option as the most appropriate combination for soil fertility improvement for potato production in smallholder farms.Linus M. M.Muriithi Irungu J.
