| 2 | Distribution of Pacific-origin water in the region of the Chukchi Plateau in the Arctic Ocean in the summer of 2003显示文摘The upper ocean thermohaline structures in the region of the Chukchi Plateau are analyzed with the hydrographic data collected by the Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition in the summer of 2003. Three types of the Pacific-origin water were found in the upper ocean, Alaska Coastal Water (ACW), summer Bering Sea Water (sBSW) and winter Bering Sea Water (wBSW) are indicated by two maximums temperature and one minimum temperature, piling up from the upper to the lower respectively. The extreme warm ACW with a maximum temperature of 1.62 ℃ was found in the southwestern Canada Basin at a depth of about 50 m. A pathway of the ACW into the basin from its adjacent area did not existed in the expedition period. So it is speculated that the extreme warm feature of the ACW was formed locally in 2003. The relative weak ACW occurred to the east of the Chukchi Cap and in the southern Chukchi Abyssal Plain. The latter one might originate from a warm downwelling that existed in a small canyon at the shelf break of the Chukchi Sea. The sBSW without the ACW was found only at the southwestern flank of the Chukchi Cap. The ACW and the sBSW were not found in the northernmost station at 81°N,which indicates the north boundary of the upper Pacific-origin water in the Canada Basin. The wBSW, which existed in all deep stations,was exactly uniform at temperature. | 4 | Green fluorescent protein (GFP) transgenic pig produced by somatic cell nuclear transfer显示文摘Transgenic somatic cell nuclear transfer is a very promising route for producing transgenic farm ani-mals. Research on GFP transgenic pigs can provide useful information for breeding transgenic pigs, human disease models and human organ xenotransplantation. In this study, a liposomal transfection system was screened and transgenic embryos were reconstructed by nuclear transfer of GFP positive cells into enucleated in vitro matured oocytes. The development of reconstructed embryos both in vitro and in vivo was observed, and GFP expression was determined. The results showed that porcine fe-tal-derived fibroblast cells cultured with 4.0 μL/mL liposome and 1.6 μg/mL plasmid DNA for 6 h re-sulted in the highest transfection rate (3.6%). The percentage of GFP reconstructed embryos that de-veloped in vitro to the blastocyst stage was 10%. Of those the GFP positive percentage was 48%. Re-constructed transgenic embryos were transferred to 10 recipients. 5 of them were pregnant, and 3 de-livered 6 cloned piglets in which 4 piglets were transgenic for the GFP as verified by both GFP protein expression and GFP DNA sequence analysis. The percentage of reconstructed embryos that resulted in cloned piglets was 1.0%; while the percentage of piglets that were transgenic was 0.7%. | 5 | Investigation of MHD power generation with supersonic non-equilibrium RF discharge显示文摘Magnetohydrodynamic(MHD) power generation with supersonic non-equilibrium plasma is demonstrated. Capacitively coupled radio frequency(RF) discharge(6 MHz, maximum continual power output of 200 W) was adopted to ionize the Mach number 3.5(650 m/s),0.023 kg/m3 airflow. In a MHD channel of 16 mm*10mm*20 mm, MHD open voltage of 10 V is realized in the magnetic field of 1.25 T, and power of 0.12 m W is extracted steadily and continuously in the magnetic field of 1 T. The reasons for limited power generation are proposed as:low conductivity of RF discharge; large touch resistance between MHD electrode and plasma;strong current eddies due to flow boundary layer. | 10 | Delivery of pOXR1 through an injectable liposomal nanoparticle enhances spinal cord injury regeneration by alleviating oxidative stress显示文摘Oxidation resistance 1(OXR1)is regarded as a critical regulator of cellular homeostasis in response to oxidative stress.However,the role of OXR1 in the neuronal response to spinal cord injury(SCI)remains undefined.On the other hand,gene therapy for SCI has shown limited success to date due in part to the poor utility of conventional gene vectors.In this study,we evaluated the function of OXR1 in SCI and developed an available carrier for delivering the OXR1 plasmid(pOXR1).We found that OXR1 expression is remarkably increased after SCI and that this regulation is protective after SCI.Meanwhile,we assembled cationic nanoparticles with vitamin E succinate-graftedε-polylysine(VES-g-PLL)(Nps).The pOXR1 was precompressed with Nps and then encapsulated into cationic liposomes.The particle size of pOXR1 was compressed to 58 nm,which suggests that pOXR1 can be encapsulated inside liposomes with high encapsulation efficiency and stability to enhance the transfection efficiency.The agarose gel results indicated that Nps-pOXR1-Lip eliminated the degradation of DNA by DNase I and maintained its activity,and the cytotoxicity results indicated that pOXR1 was successfully transported into cells and exhibited lower cytotoxicity.Finally,Nps-pOXR1-Lip promoted functional recovery by alleviating neuronal apoptosis,attenuating oxidative stress and inhibiting inflammation.Therefore,our study provides considerable evidence that OXR1 is a beneficial factor in resistance to SCI and that Nps-Lip-pOXR1 exerts therapeutic effects in acute traumatic SCI. | Jing Zhang Yao Li Jun Xiong Helin Xu Guanghen Xiang Mingqiao Fan Kailiang Zhou Yutian Lin Xiangxiang Chen Lin Xie Hongyu Zhang Jian Wang Jian Xiao | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,10: | 2 |
| 11 | Deep waters warming in the Nordic seas from 1972 to 2013显示文摘The warming of deep waters in the Nordic seas is identified based on observations during Chinese 5th Arctic Expedition in 2012 and historical hydrographic data. The most obvious and earliest warming occurrs in the Greenland Basin(GB) and shows a coincident accelerated trend between depths 2 000 and 3 500 m. The observations at a depth of 3 000 m in the GB reveal that the potential temperature had increased from-1.30°C in the early 1970 s to-0.93°C in 2013, with an increase of about 0.37°C(the maximum spatial deviation is 0.06°C) in the past more than 40 years. This remarkable change results in that deep waters in the center of the Lofton Basin(LB) has been colder than that in the GB since the year 2007. As for the Norwegian Basin(NB), only a slight trend of warming have been shown at a depth around 2 000 m since the early 1980 s, and the warming amplitude at deeper waters is just slightly above the maximum spatial deviation, implying no obvious trend of warming near the bottom. The water exchange rate of the Greenland Basin is estimated to be 86% for the period from 1982 to 2013, meaning that the residence time of the Greenland Sea deep water(GSDW) is about 35 years. | 12 | Floralozone protects endothelial function in atherosclerosis by ameliorating NHE1显示文摘Endothelial dysfunction is the pathological basis of atherosclerosis.Incomplete understanding of endothelial dysfunction etiology has impeded drug development for this devastating disease despite the currently available therapies.Floralozone,an aroma flavor,specifically exists in rabbit ear grass.Recently,floralozone has been demonstrated to inhibit atherosclerosis,but the underlying mechanisms are undefined.The present study was undertaken to explore whether floralozone pharmacologically targets endothelial dysfunction and therefore exerts therapeutic effects on atherosclerosis.The Na+/H+exchanger 1(NHE1),a channel protein,plays a vital role in atherosclerosis.Whether NHE1 is involved in the therapeutic effects of floralozone on endothelial dysfunction has yet to be further answered.By performing oil red staining and hematoxylin–eosin staining,vascular functional study,and oxidative stress monitoring,we found that floralozone not only reduced the size of carotid atherosclerotic plaque but also prevented endothelial dysfunction in atherosclerotic rats.NHE1 expression was upregulated in the inner membrane of carotid arteries and H2O2-induced primary rat aortic endothelial cells.Inspiringly,floralozone prevented the upregulation of NHE1 in vivo and in vitro.Notably,the administration of NHE1 activator LiCl significantly weakened the protective effect of floralozone on endothelial dysfunction in vivo and in vitro.Our study demonstrated that floralozone exerted its protective effect on endothelial dysfunction in atherosclerosis by ameliorating NHE1.NHE1 maybe a drug target for the treatment of atherosclerosis,and floralozone may be an effective drug to meet the urgent needs of atherosclerosis patients by dampening NHE1. | Ning Huang Yue Qiu Yanhua Liu Tianheng Liu Xianjun Xue Ping Song Jian Xu Yutian Fu Ruili Sun Yaling Yin Peng Li | 2021 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,10: | 2 |

| 16 | Expression and Regulatory Network Analysis of Function of Small Nucleolar RNA Host Gene 4 in Hepatocellular Carcinoma显示文摘Background and Aims:Long non-coding RNA small nucleolar RNA host genes(SNHGs)play a critical role in the occurrence and development of tumors.In this study,we aimed to investigate the role of SNHG4 in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and its underlining mechanism.Methods:Datasets were acquired from The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)database.lncLocator 2.0 was used to identify the distribution of SNHG4 in HCC cells.Gene expression,Kaplan-Meier survival,microRNA and transcription factor target analyses were performed with the University of Alabama Cancer(UALCAN)Database,Kaplan-Meier Plotter,LinkedOmics,WebGestalt and gene set enrichment analysis,respectively.Gene Ontology and pathway enrichment analyses and assessment of RNA binding proteins were performed by R software,circlncRNAnet and Encyclopedia of RNA Interactomes(EN-CORI).In addition,CirclncRNAnet and ENCORI were used to find the correlation between SNHG4 and important proteins,while the prognostic value was assessed with the Human Protein Atlas database and Kaplan-Meier Plotter.Results:Expression of SNHG4 in HCC is higher in HCC tissue than in normal healthy liver tissues and is mainly distributed in the nucleus.SNHG4 positively correlated with poor prognosis(p<0.01 for overall survival and recurrence-free survival).Functional enrichment analysis revealed SNHG4 involve-ment with regulation of ribosomal RNA synthesis and the RNA processing and surveillance pathway.SNHG4 is closely associated with miR-154 and miR-206,transcription factor target E2F family and the signaling pathway for MAPK/ERK and mTOR.U2 auxiliary factor 2(U2AF2)showed strong correlation with SNHG4,while low-expression of U2AF2 showed good prognosis.Conclusions:Based on our find-ings,we infer SNHG4 may play a role in the formation of HCC via regulation of tumor-related pathways. | Jing Cao Cuicui Xiao Christ-Jonathan Tsia Hin Fong Jiao Gong Danyang Li Xiangyong Li Yusheng Jie Yutian Chong | 2022 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2022,10,2: | 1 |
| 17 | Effects of porous clay ceramic rates on aeration porosity characteristics in a structurally degraded soil under greenhouse vegetable production显示文摘Soil structure degradation in greenhouse vegetable fields reduces vegetable production. Increasing aeration porosity is the key to ameliorating soil structure degradation. Thus, we tested the effect of a porous material, porous clay ceramic(PLC), on the amelioration of soil structure degradation under greenhouse vegetable production. A 6-month pot experiment was conducted with four PLC application levels based on volume, i.e., 0%(control), 5%(1 P), 10%(2 P), and15%(3 P) using Brassica chinensis as the test plant. At the end of the experiment, soil columns were sampled, and the aeration pore network was reconstructed using X-ray computed tomography(CT). The degree of anisotropy(DA), fractal dimension(FD), connectivity, aeration porosity, pores distribution, and shape of soil aeration pores and plant biomass were determined. The DA, FD, and connectivity did not significantly differ as the PLC application rate increased.Nonetheless, aeration porosity significantly linearly increased. The efficiency of PLC at enhancing soil aeration porosity was 0.18% per Mg ha^(-1). The increase in aeration porosity was mainly due to the increase in pores > 2 000 μm, which was characterized by irregular pores. Changes in aeration porosity enhanced the production of B. chinensis. The efficiency of PLC at increasing the plant fresh weight was 0.60%, 3.06%, and 2.12% per 1% application rate of PLC for the 1 P, 2 P, and 3 P treatments, respectively. These results indicated that PLC is a highly efficient soil amendment that improves soil structure degradation by improving soil aeration under greenhouse conditions.
