2Atmospheric lead pollution in fine particulate matter in Shanghai, China显示文摘The Pb-monitoring program was extended for 6 years from 2002 to 2007 at 17 representative urban sites (6 traffic, 5 industrial, and 6 residential sites), and 3 suburban sites to assess the lead pollution in fine particulate matter (PM2.5) after phasing out leaded gasoline in Shanghai. Compared with Pb levels reported in other places, the Pb pollution in Shanghai is still serious after phasing out leaded gasoline, which remains at high concentration range (213–176 ng/m3) in PM2.5 in winter. Significant spatial variation of Pb concentrations and strong seasonal variation of higher Pb concentration in winter than that in summer were detected. The size distribution of Pb in particulate matter has a unimodal mode that peaks at approximately 0.154–1.59 μm particle diameter, indicating that Pb is mainly concentrated in fine fraction. Lead in the fine fraction is enriched by a factor of 103–104 relative to Pb abundance in crust. Eight categories of Pb pollution sources were identified in the PM2.5 in the winter of 2007 in Shanghai. 4A Review on Graphene-Based Gas/Vapor Sensors with Unique Properties and Potential Applications显示文摘Graphene-based gas/vapor sensors have attracted much attention in recent years due to their variety of structures, unique sensing performances, room-temperature working conditions, and tremendous application prospects, etc.Herein, we summarize recent advantages in graphene preparation, sensor construction, and sensing properties of various graphene-based gas/vapor sensors, such as NH_3, NO_2, H_2, CO, SO_2, H_2S, as well as vapor of volatile organic compounds.The detection mechanisms pertaining to various gases are also discussed. In conclusion part, some existing problems which may hinder the sensor applications are presented. 5High-resolution climate variability of southwest China during 57―70 ka reflected in a stalagmite δ^(18)O record from Xinya Cave显示文摘A 26-cm-long stalagmite (XY2) from Xinya Cave in northeastern Chongqing of China has been ICP-MS 230Th/U dated, showing a depositional hiatus at 2.3 cm depth from the top. The growth of the 2.3―26 cm interval determined by four dates was between 57 ka and 70 ka, with a linear growth rate of 0.023 mm/a. We have analyzed 190 samples for δ 18O and δ 13C, mostly in the 2.3―26 cm part. The δ 18O and δ 13C values between 57 ka and 70 ka reveal decadal-to-centennial climatic variability during the glacial in-terval of Marine Isotope Stage 4 (MIS4), exhibiting much higher resolution than that of the published Hulu and Dongge records during this interval. Speleothem δ 18O in eastern China, including our study area can be used as a proxy of summer monsoon strength, with lighter values pointing to stronger summer monsoon and higher precipitation, and vice versa. Two decreases in the δ 18O signature of XY2 record around 59.5 and 64.5 Ka are argued to correspond to the Dansgaard-Oeschger (D-O) events 17 and 18 respectively. The Heinrich event 6 (H6) can be identified in the record as a heavy δ 18O peak around 60 ka, indicating significant weakening of the monsoon in Chongqing during the cold period. The XY2 δ 18O record shows very rapid change toward to the interstadial condition of the D-O event, but more gradual change toward to the cold stadial condition. This phenomenon found in the Greenland ice core records is rarely observed so clearly in previously published speleothem records. According to SPECMAP δ 18O record, the glacial maximum of MIS 4 was around 64.5 ka with the boundary of MIS 3/4 around 60 ka. Unlike the marine record, the speleothem record of XY2, China, exhibits much high fre-quency variations without an apparent glacial maximum during MIS 4. However, the timing of MIS 3/4 boundary seems to be around 60 ka when the H6 terminated, in agreement with the marine chronology. 8Sulfur speciation and bioaccumulation in camphor tree leaves as atmospheric sulfur indicator analyzed by synchrotron radiation XRF and XANES显示文摘Analyzing and understanding the effects of ambient pollution on plants is getting more and more attention as a topic of environmental biology.A method based on synchrotron radiation X-ray fluorescence and X-ray absorption near edge structure spectroscopy was established to analyze the sulfur concentration and speciation in mature camphor tree leaves (CTLs),which were sampled from 5 local fields in Shanghai,China.Annual SO2 concentration,SO42-concentration in atmospheric particulate,SO42-and sulfur concentration in soil were also analyzed to explore the relationship between ambient sulfur sources and the sulfur nutrient cycling in CTLs.Total sulfur concentration in mature camphor tree leaves was 766-1704 mg/kg.The mainly detected sulfur states and their corresponding compounds were +6 (sulfate,include inorganic sulfate and organic sulfate),+5.2 (sulfonate),+2.2 (suloxides),+0.6 (thiols and thiothers),+0.2 (organic sulfides).Total sulfur concentration was strongly correlated with sulfate proportion with a linear correlation coefficient up to 0.977,which suggested that sulfur accumulated in CTLs as sulfate form.Reduced sulfur compounds (organic sulfides,thiols,thioethers,sulfoxide and sulfonate) assimilation was sufficed to meet the nutrient requirement for growth at a balanced level around 526 mg/kg.The sulfate accumulation mainly caused by atmospheric sulfur pollution such as SO2 and airborne sulfate particulate instead of soil contamination.From urban to suburb place,sulfate in mature CTLs decreased as the atmospheric sulfur pollution reduced,but a dramatic increase presented near the seashore,where the marine sulfate emission and maritime activity pollution were significant.The sulfur concentration and speciation in mature CTLs effectively represented the long-term biological accumulation of atmospheric sulfur pollution in local environment.Jianrong Zeng Guilin Zhang Liangman Bao Shilei Long Mingguang Tan Yan Li Chenyan Ma Yidong Zhao 2013Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,3:9

10Folate receptor-mediated boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles as potential delivery vehicles for boron neutron capture therapy of nonfunctional pituitary adenomas显示文摘Invasive nonfunctional pituitary adenomas(NFPAs) are difficult to completely resect and often develop tumor recurrence after initial surgery.Currently,no medications are clinically effective in the control of NFPA.Although radiation therapy and radiosurgery are useful to prevent tumor regrowth,they are frequently withheld because of severe complications.Boron neutron capture therapy(BNCT) is a binary radiotherapy that selectively and maximally damages tumor cells without harming the surrounding normal tissue.Folate receptor(FR)-targeted boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles is a novel boron delivery agent that can be selectively taken up by FR-expressing cells via FR-mediated endocytosis.In this study,FR-targeted boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles were selectively taken up by NFPAs cells expressing FR but not other types of non-FR expressing pituitary adenomas.After incubation with boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles and following irradiation with thermal neutrons,the cell viability of NFPAs was significantly decreased,while apoptotic cells were simultaneously increased.However,cells administered the same dose of FR-targeted boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles without neutron irradiation or received the same neutron irradiation alone did not show significant decrease in cell viability or increase in apoptotic cells.The expression of Bcl-2 was down-regulated and the expression of Bax was up-regulated in NFPAs after treatment with FR-mediated BNCT.In conclusion,FR-targeted boron-10 containing carbon nanoparticles may be an ideal delivery system of boron to NFPAs cells for BNCT.Furthermore,our study also provides a novel insight into therapeutic strategies for invasive NFPA refractory to conventional therapy,while exploring these new applications of BNCT for tumors,especially benign tumors.DAI CongXin CAI Feng HWANG Kuo Chu ZHOU YongMao ZHANG ZiZhu LIU XiaoHai MA SiHai YANG YaKun YAO Yong FENG Ming BAO XinJie LI GuiLin WEI JunJi JIAO YongHui WEI ZhenQing MA WenBin WANG RenZhi 2013Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,2:8
11LSECtin on tumor-associated macrophages enhances breast cancer sternness via interaction with its receptor BTN3A3显示文摘Macrophages have bee n suggested to con tribute to con structing a cancer stem cell(CSC)niche.However,whether and how macrophages regulate the activity of CSCs through juxtacrine signaling are poorly understood.Here we report LSECtin,a transmembrane protein highly expressed on tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs),enhances sternness of breast cancer cells(BCCs).We identified BTN3A3,a B7 family member with previously unknown functions as the receptor for LSECtin on BCCs responsible for stemness-promoting effect of LSECtin.In mice bearing human tumor xenografts,either macrophage-specific ablation of LSECtin or silencing of BTN3A3 in BCCs decreased CSC frequency and tumor growth.Admixture of LSECtin-positive macrophages increased the tumorigenic activity of BCCs dependent on BTN3A3.Disruption of the LSECtin-BTN3A3 axis with BTN3A3-Fc or anti-BTN3A3 mAb has a therapeutic effect on breast cancer.These findings define a juxtacrine signaling mechanism by which TAMs promote cancer stemness.Targeting this axis in the CSC niche may provide potential therapies to breast cancer.Di Liu Qian Lu Xing Wang Jun Wang Ning Lu Zefei Jiang Xiaopeng Hao Jianbin Li Jing Liu Pengbo Cao Guilin Peng Yuandong Tao Dianyuan Zhao Fuchu He Li Tang 2019Cell Research2019,29,5:8
12μ-and m-calpain expression and activity changes following diethylstilbestrol injection in the rat anterior pituitary显示文摘Little is known about changes in calpain activity in the pituitary gland.In the present study,μ-and m-calpain activity changes were detected in the rat anterior pituitary following intraperitoneal injection of diethylstilbestrol.Double-immunofluorescence labeling confirmed colocalization of μ-and m-calpain in prolactin-secreting cells(lactotrophs).Western blot analysis revealed significantly increased expression of both calpains,which accompanied upregulated cytosol and membrane zymographic activities at 12 weeks following diethylstilbestrol injection,compared with rats injected with sunflower oil.Moreover,following estrogen injection,pituitary gland pathological damage gradually worsened with increasing time.Results demonstrated that estrogen regulated calpain expression and activity,and both calpains participated in the pathophysiological processes of the pituitary gland.Ubiquitous calpain expression could serve as an effective target for anti-estrogen drugs.Weijiang Zhao Zhongfang Shi Fang Yuan Guilin Li Yazhuo Zhang Zhongcheng Wang 2011Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,1:7
13OpenKG Chain:A Blockchain Infrastructure for Open Knowledge Graphs显示文摘The early concept of knowledge graph originates from the idea of the semantic Web,which aims at using structured graphs to model the knowledge of the world and record the relationships that exist between things.Currently publishing knowledge bases as open data on the Web has gained significant attention.In China,Chinese Information Processing Society of China(CIPS)launched the OpenKG in 2015 to foster the development of Chinese Open Knowledge Graphs.Unlike existing open knowledge-based programs,OpenKG chain is envisioned as a blockchain-based open knowledge infrastructure.This article introduces the first attempt at the implementation of sharing knowledge graphs on OpenKG chain,a blockchain-based trust network.We have completed the test of the underlying blockchain platform,and the on-chain test of OpenKG’s data set and tool set sharing as well as fine-grained knowledge crowdsourcing at the triple level.We have also proposed novel definitions:K-Point and OpenKG Token,which can be considered to be a measurement of knowledge value and user value.1,033 knowledge contributors have been involved in two months of testing on the blockchain,and the cumulative number of on-chain recordings triggered by real knowledge consumers has reached 550,000 with an average daily peak value of more than 10,000.For the first time,we have tested and realized on-chain sharing of knowledge at entity/triple granularity level.At present,all operations on the data sets and tool sets at OpenKG.CN,as well as the triplets at OpenBase,are recorded on the chain,and corresponding value will also be generated and assigned in a trusted mode.Via this effort,OpenKG chain looks forward to providing a more credible and traceable knowledge-sharing platform for the knowledge graph community.Huajun Chen Ning Hu Guilin Qi Haofen Wang Zhen Bi Jie Li Fan Yang 2021Data Intelligence2021,3,2:7

15Polar organic tracers in PM_(2.5) aerosols from an inland background area in Southwest China: Correlations between secondary organic aerosol tracers and source apportionment显示文摘PM_(2.5) aerosol samples were collected over 12 hr and 24 hr intervals in an inland background area, Gongga Mountain National Nature Reserve(hereafter shortened to Gongga), during the summer of 2011. Polar organic tracers, inorganic ions and meteorological data were measured. The purpose of this work was to investigate the variation patterns, formation and sources of the secondary organic aerosol tracers in the studied atmosphere. The average concentrations of isoprene oxidation products, α-pinene oxidation products, β-caryophyllinic acid, sugars, sugar alcohols and anhydrosugars were 88.6 ± 106.1, 3.6 ± 5.7,0.13 ± 0.30, 13.6 ± 13.1, 31.9 ± 31.4 and 14.8 ± 10.7 ng/m3 respectively in all aerosol samples.The aged α-pinene second organic aerosol(SOA) tracers(i.e., 3-hydroxyglutraric acid(3 HGA), 3-hydroxy-2,2-dimethylglutaric acid(HDMGA), 3-acetylpentandioic acid(APDA) and 3-methyl-1,2,3-butanetricarboxylic acid(MBTCA)) correlated significantly with each other in the 24 hr PM2.5 aerosol samples, indicating that OH· is the major factor controlling the formation of these α-pinene SOA tracers. 16Efficacy of Bushenjianpi prescription on autoimmune premature ovarian failure in mice显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy of Bushenjianpi prescription(BSJPP), a formula from Traditional Chinese Medicine, on a mouse model of autoimmune premature ovarian failure(POF) induced by mouse zona pellucida(ZP3) and to investigate the mechanisms underlying the action.METHODS: After randomization, POF was induced in the model mice by immunization with ZP3. One week later, mice received low(8.1 mg/kg), moderate(16.2 mg/kg) and high(32.4 mg/kg) doses of BSJPP by gastrogavage once daily for 90 days. Premarin(0.03 mg/kg) served as the positive group. Serum samples were collected 1 week after the last dose and stored at-20 ℃ for analysis. After cervical dislocation, the uterus and ovaries were collected aseptically for evaluation by histological assessment, scanning electron microscopy, immunohistochemical staining, and Western blot and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction analyses.RESULTS: Serum E2 levels in POF model mice were decreased, whereas follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH) and luteinizing hormone(LH) levels were dramatically increased. Serum levels of E2,LH and FSH were reduced in POF model mice treated with BSJPP(moderate and high doses) and premarin. 17Nitrous oxide (N_2O) emissions from a mesotrophic reservoir on the Wujiang River,southwest China显示文摘Aquatic ecosystems have been identified as a globally significant source of nitrous oxide(N_2O) due to continuous active nitrogen involvement, but the processes and influencing factors that control N_2O production are still poorly understood, especially in reservoirs. For that, monthly N_2O variations were monitored in Dongfeng reservoir(DFR)with a mesotrophic condition. The dissolved N_2O concentration in DFR displayed a distinct spatial–temporal pattern but lower than that in the eutrophic reservoirs. During the whole sampling year, N_2O saturation ranging from 144% to 640%, indicating that reservoir acted as source of atmospheric N_2O. N_2O production is induced by the introduction of nitrogen(NO_3^-, NH_4^+) in mesotrophic reservoirs, and is also affected by oxygen level and water temperature. Nitrification was the predominate process for N_2O production in DFR due to well-oxygenated longitudinal water layers.Mean values of estimated N_2O flux from the air–water interface averaged 0.19 μmol m^(-2)h^(-1) with a range of 0.01–0.61 μmol m^(-2)h^(-1). DFR exhibited less N_2O emission flux than that reported in a nearby eutrophic reservoir, but still acted as a moderate N_2O source compared with other reservoirs and lakes worldwide. Annual emissions from the water–air interface of DFR were estimated to be 0.32×10~5 mol N–N_2O, while N_2O degassing from releasing water behind the dam during power generation was nearly five times greater. Hence, N_2O degassing behind the dam should be taken into account for estimation of N_2O emissions from artificial reservoirs, an omission that historically has probably resulted in underestimates. 18Speciation of iron in atmospheric particulate matter by EXAFS显示文摘The study on elemental speciation in atmospheric particulate matter (PM) is important for understanding the formation and origin of pollution and evaluating their toxicity. In this paper,the speci- ation of iron in atmospheric PM was investigated with extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectra based on synchrotron radiation. The chemi- cal components of PM can be calculated by regres- sion analysis of EXAFS spectra. This is a non-destructive method. In order to have knowledge of the influence of chemical components on EXAFS spectra,we prepared a series of mixed reference samples,and proved the precision of method is good. The PM samples with different particle sizes and from different sampling sites were collected in Shanghai,China. The chemical components of the samples were calculated by regression analysis of EXAFS spectra. The results show that the iron in all PM samples mainly consist of Fe2O3,Fe3O4 and Fe2(SO4)3,but their proportions are different in dif- ferent samples. The changes of components among PM samples were observed preliminarily. The con- centrations of iron in the samples were determined by proton-induced X-ray emission (PIXE) technique. 20Modeling the impact of the viaduct on particles dispersion from vehicle exhaust in street canyons显示文摘In this paper,the impact of the viaduct on flow and traffic exhausting particles dispersion within urban street canyons was nu-merically simulated using a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) model.Two-dimensional flow and dispersion of particles from traffic exhausts were modeled using the standard k-? turbulence model.The street canyons with a viaduct at different widths and different heights above the ground are simulated.The results show that the airflow in street canyon is evidently in-fluenced by the viaduct:The position of the main vortex center is changed,especially there are two strong vortexes when the viaduct is placed at 10 m height above the ground.It is found based on the study of the particles number concentrations(PNCs) that the viaduct may mitigate the pollution level in the street canyon sometimes.The impact of the viaduct width on PNCs is stronger than that of the height.The study of PNDs reveals that the mean PNCs at the wall of upwind building increase when a viaduct is placed in street canyon.In addition,it is found based on the study of mean particles residence time(PRT) that the removal of the particles strongly correlates to the mean PNCs.The results indicate that the viaduct is an important factor to in-fluence the flow patterns and particles dispersion in street canyons.ZHANG ChuanFu WEN Mou ZENG JianRong ZHANG GuiLin FANG HaiPing LI Yan 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,1:5
