| 1 | Resting heart rate control and prognosis in coronary artery disease patients with hypertension previously treated with bisoprolol:a subgroup analysis of the BISO-CAD study显示文摘Background:Resting heart rate(RHR)is considered as a strong predictor of total mortality and hospitalization due to heart failure in hypertension patients.Bisoprolol fumarate,a second-generation beta-adrenoreceptor blockers(β-blocker)is commonly prescribed drug to manage hypertension.The present study was to retrospectively evaluate changes in the average RHR and its association with cardiovascular outcomes in bisoprolol-treated coronary artery disease(CAD)patients from the CAD treated with bisoprolol(BISO-CAD)study who had comorbid hypertension.Methods::We performed ad-hoc analysis for hypertension sub-group of the BISO-CAD study(n=866),which was a phase IV,multination,multi-center,single-arm,observational study carried out from October 2011 to July 2015 across China,South Korea,and Vietnam.Multivariate regression analysis was used to identify factors associated with incidence of composite cardiac clinical outcome(CCCO),the results were presented as adjusted odds ratio(OR)along with 95%confidence interval(CI)and adjusted P value.Results::A total of 681 patients(mean age:64.77±10.33 years)with hypertension from BISO-CAD study were included in the analysis.Bisoprolol improved CCCOs in CAD patients with comorbid hypertension,with RHR<65 and<70 beats/min compared with RHR≥65 and≥75 beats/min,respectively,in the efficacy analysis(EA)set.In addition,it lowered RHR in both intent-to-treat(ITT)and EA groups after 6,12,and 18 months of treatment.Further,RHR 70 to 74 beats/min resulted in significantly higher risk of CCCOs EA set of patients(adjusted OR:4.34;95%CI:1.19-15.89;P=0.03).Also,events of hospitalization due to acute coronary syndrome were higher when RHR 69 to 74 beats/min compared to RHR<69 beats/min in ITT patients.Conclusion::Bisoprolol can effectively reduce RHR in Asian CAD patients with comorbid hypertension and hence,improve CCCO without affecting their blood pressure. | Yun-Dai Chen Xin-Chun Yang Vinh Nguyen Pham Shi-An Huang Guo-Sheng Fu Xiao-Ping Chen Binh Quang Truong Yu Yang Shao-Wen Liu Tian-Rong Ma Dong-Soo Kim Tae-hoon Kim | 2020 | Chinese Medical Journal2020,,10: | 10 |

| 7 | High-performance flexible BiCMOS electronics based on single-crystal Si nanomembrane显示文摘In this work,we have demonstrated for the first time integrated flexible bipolar-complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor(BiCMOS)thin-film transistors(TFTs)based on a transferable single crystalline Si nanomembrane(Si NM)on a single piece of bendable plastic substrate.The n-channel,p-channel metal-oxide semiconductor field-effect transistors(N-MOSFETs&P-MOSFETs),and NPN bipolar junction transistors(BJTs)were realized together on a 340-nm thick Si NM layer with minimized processing complexity at low cost for advanced flexible electronic applications.The fabrication process was simplified by thoughtfully arranging the sequence of necessary ion implantation steps with carefully selected energies,doses and anneal conditions,and by wisely combining some costly processing steps that are otherwise separately needed for all three types of transistors.All types of TFTs demonstrated excellent DC and radio-frequency(RF)characteristics and exhibited stable transconductance and current gain under bending conditions.Overall,Si NM-based flexible BiCMOS TFTs offer great promises for high-performance and multifunctional future flexible electronics applications and is expected to provide a much larger and more versatile platform to address a broader range of applications.Moreover,the flexible BiCMOS process proposed and demonstrated here is compatible with commercial microfabrication technology,making its adaptation to future commercial use straightforward. | Jung-Hun Seo Kan Zhang Munho Kim Weidong Zhou Zhenqiang Ma | 2017 | npj Flexible Electronics2017,1,1: | 3 |
| 8 | Risk factors of electrocoagulation syndrome after esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissection显示文摘AIM To investigate post endoscopic submucosal dissection electrocoagulation syndrome(PEECS) of the esophagus.METHODS We analyzed 55 consecutive cases with esophageal endoscopic submucosal dissection for superficial esophageal squamous neoplasms at a tertiary referral hospital in South Korea. Esophageal PEECS was defined as 'mild' meeting one of the following criteria without any obvious perforation: fever(≥ 37.8 ℃), leukocytosis(> 10800 cells/μl), or regional chest pain more than 5/10 points as rated on a numeric pain intensity scale. The grade of PEECS was determined as 'severe' when meet two or more of above criteria.RESULTS We included 51 cases without obvious complications in the analysis. The incidence of mild and severe esophageal PEECS was 47.1% and 17.6%, respectively. Risk factor analysis revealed that resected area, procedure time, and muscle layer exposure were significantly associated with PEECS. In multivariate analysis, a resected area larger than 6.0 cm^2(OR = 4.995, 95%CI: 1.110-22.489, P = 0.036) and muscle layer exposure(OR = 5.661, 95%CI: 1.422-22.534, P = 0.014) were independent predictors of esophageal PEECS. | 9 | Angiogenic peptide hydrogels for treatment of traumatic brain injury显示文摘Traumatic brain injury(TBI)impacts over 3.17 million Americans.Management of hemorrhage and coagulation caused by vascular disruption after TBI is critical for the recovery of patients.Cerebrovascular pathologies play an important role in the underlying mechanisms of TBI.The objective of this study is to evaluate a novel regenerative medicine for the injured tissue after brain injury.We utilized a recently described synthetic growth factor with angiogenic potential to facilitate vascular growth in situ at the injury site.Previous work has shown how this injectable self-assembling peptide-based hydrogel(SAPH)creates a regenerative microenvironment for neovascularization at the injury site.Supramolecular assembly allows for thixotropy;the injectable drug delivery system provides sustained in vivo efficacy.In this study,a moderate blunt injury model was used to cause physical vascular damage and hemorrhage.The angiogenic SAPH was then applied directly on the injured rat brain.At day 7 post-TBI,significantly more blood vessels were observed than the sham and injury control group,as well as activation of VEGF-receptor 2,demonstrating the robust angiogenic response elicited by the angiogenic SAPH.Vascular markers von-Willebrand factor(vWF)andα-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA)showed a concomitant increase with blood vessel density in response to the angiogenic SAPH.Moreover,blood brain barrier integrity and blood coagulation were also examined as the parameters to indicate wound recovery post TBI.Neuronal rescue examination by NeuN and myelin basic protein staining showed that the angiogenic SAPH may provide and neuroprotective benefit in the long-term recovery. | Xiaotang Ma Agnieszka Agas Zain Siddiqui KaKyung Kim Patricia Iglesias-Montoro Jagathi Kalluru Vivek Kumar James Haorah | 2020 | Bioactive Materials2020,5,1: | 3 |

| 12 | Rational Design and Application of an Indolium-Derived Heptamethine Cyanine with Record-Long Second Near-Infrared Emission显示文摘Heptamethine cyanine dyes,typified by indocyanine green,have been extensively employed as bioimaging indicators and theranostic agents.Significant efforts have been made to develop functional heptamethine cyanine dyes with outstanding bioimaging and theranostic utilities.In this work,we rationally designed and successfully developed a novel indolium-like heptamethine cyanine dye by installing indolium-derived polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons on the terminal ends of a conjugated polyene backbone.This dye showed excellent photostability and showed bright fluorescent emission in the second near-infrared(NIR-Ⅱ)window with a peak at approximately 1120 nm.Such long wavelength emission prompted a superior bioimaging resolution in vivo.In particular,this NIR-Ⅱ dye had the remarkable capability of marking the blood vessels of the hindlimbs,abdomens,and brains of mice.More significantly,this dye involved a typical indolium-like heptamethine skeleton and exhibited two strong absorption bands in the 700–1300 nm NIR range,which endowed it with an intrinsic tumor-targeting capability and a high photothermal conversion efficiency(up to 68.2%),serving for the photothermal therapy of tumors under the guidance of NIR-Ⅱ fluorescence imaging.This work provides an efficient design strategy for achieving indolium-like heptamethine cyanine dyes with further NIR-Ⅱ emission. | Xiaoxie Ma Yurou Huang Syed Ali Abbas Abedi Heejeong Kim Tan Teck Boon Davin Xiaogang Liu Wen-Chao Yang Yao Sun Sheng Hua Liu Jun Yin Juyoung Yoon Guang-Fu Yang | 2022 | CCS Chemistry2022,4,6: | 2 |

| 14 | Alterations of Gefitinib Pharmacokinetics by Co-administration of Herbal Medications in Rats显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the potential pharmacokinetic interactions of the anticancer agent gefitinib(Iressa?) and the oriental medications Guipi Decoction(归脾汤, GPD, Guibi-tang in Korean) and Bawu Decoction(八物汤, BWD, Palmul-tang in Korean). Methods: Methylcellulose(MC, control), GPD(1,200 mg/kg), or BWD(6,000 mg/kg) was orally administered to rats either as a single dose or multiple doses prior to gefitinib administration. To examine the effects of a single dose of the herbal medicines, gefitinib(10 mg/kg) was orally administered after 5 min or 1 h of MC or the herbal medicine pretreatments. To examine the effects of the multiple doses of the herbal medicines, gefitinib(10 mg/kg) was orally administered following 7 consecutive days of the administration of MC or each herbal medicine. The plasma concentrations of gefitinib were determined with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry assay. The plasma concentration-time profiles of gefitinib were analyzed with a noncompartmental analysis. Results: Gefitinib was rapidly absorbed and showed a monoexponential decline with an elimination half-life of 3.7–4.1 h. The pharmacokinetics of gefitinib was not affected by GPD pretreatment. However, a significantly lower maximum plasma concentration(Cmax, P<0.05) and area under the curve(P<0.05), and a delayed time to reach Cmax(Tmax, P<0.01) were observed in both single-and multipledose BWD-pretreated rats compared with the control rats. Conclusions: BWD and not GPD might delay and interfere with gefitinib absorption. | 15 | Effects of Trichoderma harzianum YC_(459) and soil types on seed germination and seedling growth in rock slope restoration显示文摘We carried out experiments with various concentrations of Trichoderma harzianum YC459 in different soil types(forest soil, mixed soil,merchantable soil, and leaf mold soil) to evaluate its effect on seed germination and seedling establishment of four species(Festuca arundinacea Schreb., Dianthus barbatus var. asiaticus Nakai,Lespedeza cyrtobotrya Miq., and Parthenocissus tricuspidata Planch) for rock slope restoration. We also investigated the use of drilled slanted holes on the rock slopes for seedling establishment. The results showed that T. harzianum concentration had significant effects on seed germination, seedling growth, and seedling survival for all the species with different soil types. Seed germination and survival rates peaked at 5% T. harzianum concentration with leaf mold soil and decreased as T. harzianum concentration increased from 5% to 10%. Seedling survival rates of all four species were generally lowest at 0% T. harzianum concentration in all soil types.The height of F. arundinacea and L. cyrtobotrya peaked at 5% T. harzianum concentration whereas that of D. barbatus and P. tricuspidata peaked at 10%T. harzianum concentration. We concluded that 5% T. harzianum concentration with leaf mold soil is appropriate for seed germination and seedling survival rates of most species, thus enhancing seedling establishment.
