2Application of waste frying oils in the biosynthesis of biodemulsifier by a demulsifying strain Alcaligenes sp.S-XJ-1显示文摘Exploration of biodemulsifiers has become a new research aspect.Using waste frying oils(WFOs) as carbon source to synthesize biodemulsifiers has a potential prospect to decrease production cost and to improve the application of biodemulsifiers in the oilfield.In this study,a demulsifying strain,Alcaligenes sp.S-XJ-1,was investigated to synthesize a biodemulsifier using waste frying oils as carbon source.It was found that the increase of initial pH of culture medium could increase the biodemulsifier yield but decrease the demulsification ratio compared to that using paraffin as carbon source.In addition,a biodemulsifier produced by waste frying oils and paraffin as mixed carbon source had a lower demulsification capability compared with that produced by paraffin or waste frying oil as sole carbon source.Fed-batch fermentation of biodemulsifier using waste frying oils as supplementary carbon source was found to be a suitable method.Mechanism of waste frying oils utilization was studied by using tripalmitin,olein and tristearin as sole carbon sources to synthesize biodemulsifier.The results showed saturated long-chain fatty acid was diffcult for S-XJ-1 to utilize but could effectively enhance the demulsification ability of the produced biodemulsifier.Moreover,FT-IR result showed that the demulsification capability of biodemulsifiers was associated with the content of C=O group and nitrogen element.Jia Liu Kaiming Peng Xiangfeng Huang Lijun Lu Hang Cheng Dianhai Yang Qi Zhou Huiping Deng 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,6:4
3Basal internode elongation of rice as affected by light intensity and leaf area显示文摘Short basal internodes are important for lodging resistance of rice(Oryza sativa L.).Several canopy indices affect the elongation of basal internodes,but uncertainty as to the key factors determining elongation of basal internodes persists.The objectives of this study were(1)to identify key factors affecting the elongation of basal internodes and(2)to establish a quantitative relationship between basal internode length and canopy indices.An inbred rice cultivar,Yinjingruanzhan,was grown in two split-plot field experiments with three N rates(0,75,and 150 kg N ha−1 in early season and 0,90,and 180 kg N ha−1 in late season)as main plots,three seedling densities(16.7,75.0,and 187.5 seedlings m−2)as subplots,and three replications in the 2015 early and late seasons in Guangzhou,China.Light intensity at base of canopy(Lb),light quality as determined from red/far-red light ratio(R/FR),light transmission ratio(LTR),leaf area index(LAI),leaf N concentration(NLV)and final length of second internode(counted from soil surface upward)(FIL)were recorded.Higher N rate and seedling density resulted in significantly longer FIL.FIL was negatively correlated with Lb,LTR,and R/FR(P<0.01)and positively correlated with LAI(P<0.01),but not correlated with NLV(P>0.05).Stepwise linear regression analysis showed that FIL was strongly associated with Lb and LAI(R2=0.82).Heavy N application to pot-grown rice at the beginning of first internode elongation did not change FIL.We conclude that FIL is determined mainly by Lb and LAI at jointing stage.NLV has no direct effect on the elongation of basal internodes.N application indirectly affects FIL by changing LAI and light conditions in the rice canopy.Reducing LAI and improving canopy light transmission at jointing stage can shorten the basal internodes and increase the lodging resistance of rice.Xuhua Zhong Kaiming Liang Bilin Peng Ka Tian Xiaojuan Li Nongrong Huang Yanzhuo Liu Junfeng Pan 2020The Crop Journal2020,8,1:3
4Trending IC design directions in 2022显示文摘For the non-stop demands for a better and smarter society, the number of electronic devices keeps increasing exponentially;and the computation power, communication data rate, smart sensing capability and intelligence are always not enough. Hardware supports software, while the integrated circuit(IC) is the core of hardware. In this long review paper, we summarize and discuss recent trending IC design directions and challenges, and try to give the readers big/cool pictures on each selected small/hot topics. 5Cryo-EM structures of human m^(6)A writer complexes显示文摘N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A)is the most abundant ribonucleotide modification among eukaryotic messenger RNAs.The m^(6)A“writer”consists of the catalytic subunit m^(6)A-METTL complex(MAC)and the regulatory subunit m^(6)A-METTL-associated complex(MACOM),the latter being essential for enzymatic activity.Here,we report the cryo-electron microscopy(cryo-EM)structures of MACOM at a 3.0-Åresolution,uncovering that WTAP and VIRMA form the core structure of MACOM and that ZC3H13 stretches the conformation by binding VIRMA.Furthermore,the 4.4-Åresolution cryo-EM map of the MACOM–MAC complex,combined with crosslinking mass spectrometry and GST pull-down analysis,elucidates a plausible model of the m^(6)A writer complex,in which MACOM binds to MAC mainly through WTAP and METTL3 interactions.In combination with in vitro RNA substrate binding and m^(6)A methyltransferase activity assays,our results illustrate the molecular basis of how MACOM assembles and interacts with MAC to form an active m^(6)A writer complex.Shichen Su Shanshan Li Ting Deng Minsong Gao Yue Yin Baixing Wu Chao Peng Jianzhao Liu Jinbiao Ma Kaiming Zhang 2022Cell Research2022,32,11:3
6Coupling magnetic particles with flocculants to enhance demulsification and separation of waste cutting emulsion for engineering applications显示文摘Magnetic particles were coupled with a flocculant to enhance the demulsification and separation of waste cutting emulsions.The optimal magnetic particle size and critical magnetic field conditions were investigated to achieve large-scale engineering application of magnetic demulsification separation for waste cutting emulsion treatment.The micro-scale magnetic particles were found to show comparable effects to nano-scale magnetic particles on enhancing the demulsification and separation of cutting emulsions,which are beneficial for broadening the selectivity of low-cost magnetic particles.The critical magnetic separation region was determined to be an area 40 mm from the magnetic field source.Compared to the flocculant demulsification,the magnetic demulsification separation exhibited a significant advantage in accelerating flocs-water separation by decreasing the separation time of flocs from 180-240 min to less than 15 min,compressing the flocs by reducing the floc volume ratio from 60%-90%to lower than 20%,and showing excellent adaptability to the variable properties of waste cutting emulsions.Coupled with the design of the magnetic disk separator,continuous demulsification separation of the waste cutting emulsion was achieved at 1.0 t/hr for at least 10 hr to obtain clear effluent with 81%chemical oxygen demand removal and 89%turbidity reduction.This study demonstrates the feasibility of applying magnetic demulsification separation to large-scale continuous treatment of waste emulsion.Moreover,it addresses the flocs-water separation problems that occur in practical flocculant demulsification engineering applications.Yongjiao Xiong Baoqiang Wu Xiangfeng Huang Chenlu Li Bin Lu Jia Liu Lijun Lu Shiyang Li Kaiming Peng 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,7:2

13In situ formation of self-antistacking FeCoO_(x) on N-doped graphene:A 3D-on-2D nanoarchitecture for long-life Zn-air batteries显示文摘Before the practical application of rechargeable Zn-air batteries(ZABs),a critical issue regarding the inherent slow reaction kinetics of the oxygen reduction(ORR)and oxygen evolution(OER)must be addressed.Here,we fabricate a cost-effective bifunctional oxygen electrocatalyst with a self-antistacking structure,where three-dimensional(3D)Fe-Co bimetallic oxide particles(FeCoO_(x))are directly grown on 2D N-doped graphene(NG).The in situ grown FeCoO_(x)particles can alleviate the NG interlaminar restacking,ensuring abundant channels for diffusion of O_(2)/OH−species,while the NG allows rapid electron flow.Benefiting from this self-antistacking 3D-on-2D structure and synergetic electrocatalysis,FeCoO_(x)@NG demonstrated excellent activity for both ORR and OER(ΔE=0.78 V),which is superior to that of the binary mixtures of Pt/C and RuO_(2)(ΔE=0.83 V).A homemade ZAB with 20%-FeCoO_(x)@NG delivers a specific capacity of 758.9 mAh g^(−1),a peak power density of 215 mW cm^(−2),and long-term cyclability for over 400 h.These research results suggest that designing a bimetallic oxide/N-doped carbon 3D-on-2D nanoarchitecture using an in situ growth strategy is an attractive and feasible solution to overcome electrocatalytic problems in ZABs.Zehao Zheng Cuie Wang Peng Mao Yijun Zhu Ran Ran Wei Zhou Kaiming Liao Zongping Shao 2023Carbon Energy2023,5,3:1

17PAPR reduction for FBMC-OQAM systems using P-PTS scheme显示文摘Filter bank multi-carrier(FBMC) with offset quadrature amplitude modulation(OQAM) has been regarded as one of the candidates for next generation broadband wireless communication systems. Being a multi-carrier technique, FBMC suffers from the inherent drawback of high peak-to-average power ratio(PAPR). And it has been turned out that conventional PAPR reduction schemes for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) systems are ineffective for FBMC-OQAM systems, due to the overlapping structure of FBMC-OQAM signals. In this paper, we propose an efficient PAPR reduction scheme based on a two-step optimization structure, named pretreated partial transmit sequence(P-PTS). The first step uses a multiple overlapping symbols joint optimization scheme that the phase rotation sequences for current symbol is determined and optimized according to previous overlapped symbols. And in the second step, it employs a novel segment PAPR reduction scheme based on PTS technique.
