| 1 | Scaling of residual displacements in terms of elastic and inelastic spectral displacements for existing SDOF systems显示文摘Structures undergoing inelastic displacements during earthquake ground motions are known to sustain some amount of residual displacements, which may make them unusable or unsafe. In this study an attempt is made to estimate residual displacements for elastic-perfectly-plastic single-degree-of-freedom oscillators with a given lateral strength ratio. It is observed in the case of a class of ground motions that there are no trends in the dependence of residual displacement on the temporal features of the ground motion, and thus any estimation of residual displacements should be carried out only in the statistical sense. Statistical estimation of residual displacement spectrum via normalization with respect to inelastic or elastic spectral displacements is considered, and it is found that normalization with respect to inelastic spectral displacements is preferable. | 8 | Influence of graphene nanoplatelet incorporation and dispersion state on thermal, mechanical and electrical properties of biodegradable matrices显示文摘Graphene nanoplatelets(GNPs) were used as multifunctional nanofiller to enhance thermal and mechanical properties as well as electrical conductivity of two different biodegradable thermoplastics: poly lactide(PLA) and poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate)(PBAT). Morphological investigations showed different levels of GNP dispersion in the two matrices, and consequently physical properties of the two systems exhibited dissimilar behaviours with GNP incorporation. Crystallinity of PLA, determined from differential scanning calorimetry, was observed to increase markedly with addition of GNPs in contrast to the decrease in crystallinity of PBAT. Isothermal and non-isothermal thermogravimetric analyses also revealed a more significant delay in thermal decomposition of PLA upon addition of GNPs compared to that of PBAT. Furthermore, results showed that increasing GNP content of PLA and PBAT nanocomposites influenced their Young's modulus and electrical conductivity in different ways. Modulus of PBAT increased continuously with increasing GNP loading while that of PLA reached a maximum at 9 wt%GNPs and then decreased. Moreover, despite the higher conductivity of pure PBAT compared to pure PLA, conductivity of PLA/GNP nanocomposites overtook that of PBAT/GNP nanocomposites above a certain GNP concentration. These constructs were verified using Application Software Packages (ASP) - a prewritten, precoded, commercially available set of programs that eliminates the need for individuals or organizations to write their own software programs for certain functions. The relationship between ASP usage, usage outcomes and use processes were also investigated. Two hundred and ninety-five Chinese, Indian, and Malay entrepreneurships were studied. It was found that usage outcome strongly determines usage, while use process has only an indirect relationship (via outcome) on usage. The impact of organizational learning and vendor service quality on usage, usage outcome, and use process were robust. | 15 | Audiovestibular functioning of post-menopausal females with osteoporosis and osteopenia显示文摘Introduction:Osteoporosis and osteopenia are progressive disorders characterized by decreased bone mass,especially in postmenopausal women.These can be associated with body pain,fractures,hearing loss and balance disorders.The present study aims to evaluate audio-vestibular function in postmenopausal patients with osteopenia or osteoporosis.Methods:The study included 48 postmenopausal women(new subjects)diagnosed with osteoporosis(n=23)or osteopenia(n=25)in the age range of 50e66 years,as well as 28 normal women as controls.Audiological testing included pure tone audiometry(conventional and extended high-frequency audiometry),speech audiometry,impedance audiometry and otoacoustic emissions,including both transient evoked otoacoustic emissions(TEOAEs)and distortion product otoacoustic emissions(DPOAEs).All subjects also underwent vestibular evoked myogenic potentials testing(both ocular and cervical VEMPs).Results:In the present study,hearing was worse at all frequencies in the osteoporosis group in comparison with the osteopenia and control groups,with worse speech recognition and discrimination scores and OAEs.Vestibular function was affected in 95.65%of women with osteoporosis and 76%of those with osteopenia.Conclusion:Osteoporosis and osteopenia are risk factors for vestibular dysfunction and hearing deficits in postmenopausal women.Thus,hearing and vestibular function should be monitored by audiological and vestibular testing periodically in these individuals. | Manisha K.Juneja Sanjay Munjal Anuradha Sharma Ashok K.Gupta Sanjay Bhadada | 2021 | Journal of Otology2021,16,1: | 1 |
| 16 | Mechanism involved in the modulation of photoreceptor-specific cyclic nucleotidegated channel by the tyrosine kinase adapter protein Grb14显示文摘We recently found that growth factor receptor-bound(Grb)protein 14 is a novel physiological modulator of photoreceptor specific cyclic nucleotide-gated channel alpha subunit(CNGA1).Grb14 promotes the CNG channel closure through its Ras-associating(RA)domain.In the current study we show that this RA domain-mediated inhibition of rod CNG channel is electrostatic in nature.Grb14 competes with cGMP for the CNGA1 binding pocket and electrostatically interacts with Arg^(559) through a negatively chargedβ-turn at its RA domain.Moreover,the three Glu residues(180–182)in Grb14 are absolutely critical for electrostatic interaction with the cGMP binding pocket and resultant inhibition.Our study also demonstrates that substitution of Lys^(140) for Ala or in combination with polyglutamte mutants of Grb14 results in a significantly reduced binding with CNGA1.These results suggest that in addition to Glu^(180–182) and Lys^(140),other residues in Grb14 may be involved in the electrostatic interaction with CNGA1.The RA domain is highly conserved among the members of Grb7 family of proteins,which includes Grb7,Grb10 and Grb14.Further,only Grb14 is able to modulate the channel activity,but not Grb7 and Grb10.All together,it suggests the existence of a divergence in RA domains among the members of the Grb7 family. | Vivek K.Gupta Ammaji Rajala Karla K.Rodgers Raju V.S.Rajala | 2011 | Protein & Cell2011,2,11: | 1 |
