1Thermal decomposition and kinetics of plastic bonded explosives based on mixture of HMX and TATB with polymer matrices显示文摘This work describes thermal decomposition behaviour of plastic bonded explosives(PBXs) based on mixture of 1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocane(HMX) and 2,4,6-triamino-1,3,5-trinitrobenzene(TATB)with Viton A as polymer binder. Thermal decomposition of PBXs was undertaken by applying simultaneous thermal analysis(STA) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) to investigate influence of the HMX amount on thermal behavior and its kinetics. Thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) indicated that the thermal decomposition of PBXs based on mixture of HMX and TATB was occurred in a three-steps. The first step was mainly due to decomposition of HMX. The second step was ascribed due to decomposition of TATB, while the third step was occurred due to decomposition of the polymer matrices. The thermal decomposition % was increased with increasing HMX amount. The kinetics related to thermal decomposition were investigated under non-isothermal for a single heating rate measurement. The variation in the activation energy of PBXs based on mixture of HMX and TATB was observed with varying the HMX amount. The kinetics from the results of TGA data at various heating rates under non-isothermal conditions were also calculated by Flynn—Wall—Ozawa(FWO) and Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose(KAS)methods. The activation energies calculated by employing FWO method were very close to those obtained by KAS method. 3Combination of pegylated interferon and lamivudine for patients with chronic hepatitis B who have failed treatment显示文摘BACKGROUND: Treatment of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) alone with interferon or lamivudine alone or in combination is effective in only a small proportion of patients. Treatment of patients in whom antiviral therapy fails is challenging. This study was made to determine the efficacy of combined pegylated interferon alpha (peg-IFN) and lamivudine in patients with CHB who had failed to respond to antiviral treatment. METHODS: Twenty patients with CHB proven by liver biopsy, with ALT levels >1.5×ULN,HBV DNA levels>141 500 copies/ml, and previous treatment failure with an adequate regimen were treated with a combination of peg-IFN 1.5μg/kg and lamivudine 100 mg/day for 52 weeks and followed up for a further 24 weeks. Biochemical response was defined as normalization of ALT and DNA response as HBV DNA<141 500 copies/ml. Secondary efficacy measures included HBsAg loss, HBeAg loss and appearance of anti-HBe (in cases of HBeAg-positive patients). RESULTS: Twenty patients were treated, of whom 16 were HBeAg positive. At 52 weeks, normal ALT was seen in 10 (50%) (8 of 16 HBeAg+ and 2 of 4 HBeAg), HBV DNA response in 5 (25%) (5 of 16 in HBeAg+ and none in HBeAg-), and HBeAg loss with appearance of anti-HBe in 5 (31.3%) of the 16 HBeAg positive patients. At 76 weeks, 8 (80%) of the 10 patients with normal ALT at 52 weeks relapsed, with normal ALT only in 2 (10%) (1 of 16 HBeAg+ and 1 of 4 HBeAg-), and all 5 patients who had a DNA response at 52 weeks relapsed at 76 weeks and had no DNA response. HBeAg loss with appearance of anti-HBe was seen in 1 (6.3%) of 16 HBeAg-positive patients. None of the patients lost HBsAg. CONCLUSIONS: The combination of peg-IFN and lamivudine for 52 weeks is not effective for treatment of CHB patients with a failed treatment. 4Global mapping of urban built-up areas of year 2014 by combining MODIS multispectral data with VIIRS nighttime light data显示文摘An improved methodology for the extraction and mapping of urban built-up areas at a global scale is presented in this study.The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS)-based multispectral data were combined with the Visible Infrared Imager Radiometer Suite(VIIRS)-based nighttime light(NTL)data for robust extraction and mapping of urban built-up areas.The MODIS-based newly proposed Urban Built-up Index(UBI)was combined with NTL data,and the resulting Enhanced UBI(EUBI)was used as a single master image for global extraction of urban built-up areas.Due to higher variation of the EUBI with respect to geographical regions,a region-specific threshold approach was used to extract urban built-up areas.This research provided 500-m-resolution global urban built-up map of year 2014.The resulted map was compared with three existing moderate-resolution global maps and one high-resolution map in the United States.The comparative analysis demonstrated finer details of the urban built-up cover estimated by the resultant map.Ram C.Sharma Ryutaro Tateishi Keitarou Hara Saeid Gharechelou Kotaro Iizuka 2016International Journal of Digital Earth2016,9,10:2

9Adverse effects of tyrosine kinase inhibitors in cancer therapy:pathophysiology, mechanisms and clinical management显示文摘Since their invention in the early 2000s,tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs)have gained prominence as the most effective pathwaydirected anti-cancer agents.TKIs have shown significant utility in the treatment of multiple hematological malignancies and solid tumors,including chronic myelogenous leukemia,non-small cell lung cancers,gastrointestinal stromal tumors,and HER2-positive breast cancers.Given their widespread applications,an increasing frequency of TKI-induced adverse effects has been reported.Although TKIs are known to affect multiple organs in the body including the lungs,liver,gastrointestinal tract,kidneys,thyroid,blood,and skin,cardiac involvement accounts for some of the most serious complications.The most frequently reported cardiovascular side effects range from hypertension,atrial fibrillation,reduced cardiac function,and heart failure to sudden death.The potential mechanisms of these side effects are unclear,leading to critical knowledge gaps in the development of effective therapy and treatment guidelines.There are limited data to infer the best clinical approaches for the early detection and therapeutic modulation of TKI-induced side effects,and universal consensus regarding various management guidelines is yet to be reached.In this state-of-the-art review,we examine multiple pre-clinical and clinical studies and curate evidence on the pathophysiology,mechanisms,and clinical management of these adverse reactions.We expect that this review will provide researchers and allied healthcare providers with the most up-to-date information on the pathophysiology,natural history,risk stratification,and management of emerging TKI-induced side effects in cancer patients.Sunitha Shyam Sunder Umesh C.Sharma Saraswati Pokharel 2023Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,8:1
10Structural features of substituted triazole-linked chalcone derivatives as antimalarial activities against D_(10) strains of Plasmodium falciparum: A QSAR approach显示文摘A quantitative structure–activity relationship(QSAR) was performed to analyze antimalarial activities against the D10 strains of Plasmodium falciparum of triazole-linked chalcone and dienone hybrid derivatives using partial least squares regression coupled with stepwise forward–backward variable selection method. QSAR analyses were performed on the available IC50 D10 strains of Plasmodium falciparum data based on theoretical molecular descriptors. The QSAR model developed gave good predictive correlation coefficient(r2) of 0.8994, significant cross validated correlation coefficient(q2) of 0.7689, r2 for external test set)(2predr of 0.8256, coefficient of correlation of predicted data set)(2sepred,r of 0.3276. The model shows that antimalarial activity is greatly affected by donor and electron-withdrawing substituents. The study implicates that chalcone and dienone rings should have strong donor and electron-withdrawing substituents as they increase the activity of chalcone. Results show that the predictive ability of the model is satisfactory, and it can be used for designing similar group of antimalarial compounds.
