1Mapping sea surface velocities in the Changjiang coastal zone with advanced synthetic aperture radar显示文摘Range Doppler velocities derived from the Envisat advanced synthetic aperture radar(ASAR) wide swath images are analyzed and assessed against the numerically simulated surface current fields derived from the finite volume coastal ocean model(FVCOM) for the Changjiang Estuary. Comparisons with the FVCOM simulations show that the European Space Agency(ESA) Envisat ASAR based Doppler shift anomaly retrievals have the capability to capture quantitative information of the surface currents in the Changjiang Estuary. The uncertainty analysis of the ASAR range Doppler velocity estimates are discussed with regard to the azimuthal and range bias corrections, radar incidence angles, inaccuracy in the wind field corrections and the presence of rain cells.The corrected range Doppler velocities for the Changjiang Estuary area are highly valuable as they exhibit quantitative expressions related to the multiscale upper layer dynamics and surface current variability around the East China Sea, including the Changjiang Estuary.WANG Lihua ZHOU Yunxuan GE Jianzhong JOHANNESSEN Johnny A. 2Design and fabrication of 1-D semiconductor nanomaterials for high-performance photovoltaics显示文摘To date, the cost-effective utilization of solar energy by photovoltaics for large-scale deployment remains challenging. Further cost minimization and efficiency maximization, through reduction of material consumption, simplification of device fabrication as well as optimization of device structure and geometry, are required. The usage of 1D nanomaterials is attractive due to the outstanding light coupling effect, the ease of fabrication, and integration with one-dimensional(1-D) semiconductor materials. The light absorption efficiency can be enhanced significantly, and the corresponding light-toelectricity conversion efficiency can be as high as their bulk counterparts. Also, the amount of active materials used can be reduced. This review summarizes the recent development of 1-D nanomaterials for photovoltaic applications, including the anti-reflection, the light absorption,the minority diffusion, and the semiconductor junction properties. 4Crystalline all-inorganic lead-free Cs_(3)Sb_(2)I_(9) perovskite microplates with ultra-fast photoconductive response and robust thermal stability显示文摘Hybrid organolead halide perovskites have attracted tremendous attention due to their recent success as high efficiency solar cell materials and their fascinating material properties uniquely suitable for optoelectronic devices. However, the poor ambient and operational stability as well as the concern of lead toxicity greatly hamper their practical utilization. In this work, crystalline, all-inorganic and lead-free Cs_(3)Sb_(2)I_(9) perovskite microplates are successfully synthesized by a two-step chemical vapor deposition method. As compared with other typical lead-free perovskite materials, the Cs_(3)Sb_(2)I_(9) microplates demonstrate excellent optoelectronic properties, including substantial enhancements in the Stokes shift, exciton binding energy and electron-phonon coupling. Simple photoconductive devices fabricated using these microplates exhibit an ultra-fast response with the rise and decay time constants down to 96 and 58 µs, respectively. This respectable photoconductor performance can be regarded as a record among all the lead-free perovskite materials. Importantly, these photodetectors show superior thermal stability in a wide temperature range, capable to function reversibly between 80 and 380 K, indicating their robustness to operate under both low and high temperatures. 13Oxidative exfoliation of spent cathode carbon:A two-in-one strategy for its decontamination and high-valued application显示文摘Spent cathode carbon(SCC)from aluminum electrolysis is a potential graphite resource.However,full use of the SCC remains a challenge,since it contains many hazardous substances(e.g.,fluoride salts,cyanides),encapsulated within the thick carbon layers and thus posing serious environmental concerns.This work presents a chemical oxidative exfoliation route to achieve the recycling of SCC and the decontaminated SCC with high-valued graphene oxide(GO)-like carbon structures(SCC-GO)is applied as an excellent adsorbent for organic pollutants.Specifically,after the oxidative exfoliation,the embedded hazardous constituents are fully exposed,facilitating their subsequent removal by aqueous leaching.Moreover,benefiting from the enhanced specific surface areas along with abundant O-containing functional groups,the as-produced SCC-GO,shows an adsorption capacity as high as 347 mg·g^(-1)when considering methylene blue as a pollutant model,which exceeds most of the recently reported carbon-based adsorbents.Our study provides a feasible solution for the efficient recycling of hazardous carbonaceous wastes.Runze Chen Yuran Chen Xuemin Liang Yapeng Kong Yangyang Fan Quan Liu Zhenyu Yang Feiying Tang Johnny Muya Chabu Maru Dessie Walle Liqiang Wang 2023Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2023,59,7:0

16Self-assembling nacre-like high-strength and extremely tough polymer composites with new toughening mechanism显示文摘Achieving high strength,deformability and toughness in polymers is important for practical industrial applications.This has remained challenging because of the mutually opposing effects of improvements to each of these properties.Here,a self-assembling nacre-like polymer composite is designed to achieve ex-tremely tough with increasing strength.This special design significantly improved polymer’s mechanical properties,including an ultra-high fracture strain of 1180%,a tensile strength of 55.4 MPa and a toughness of 506.9 MJ/m^(3),which far exceed the highest values previously reported for polymer composites.This ex-cellent combination of properties can be attributed to a novel toughening mechanism,achieved by the synergy of the domain-limiting effect of metallic glass fragments with the strain-gradient-induced orien-tation and crystallisation within the polymer during stretching.Our approach opens a promising avenue for designing robust polymer materials in armour and aerospace engineering for a range of innovative applications.Yu Bu Xu Wang Xiuming Bu Zhengyi Mao Zhou Chen Zebiao Li Fengqian Hao Johnny C.Ho Jian Lu 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,5:0

18Understanding the promotional effects of trace doped Zn in Co/NC for efficient one-pot catalytic conversion of furfural to 2-methyl-tetrahydrofuran显示文摘2-methyl-tetrahydrofuran(2-MTHF)is a promising biofuel or fuel additive with excellent burning property,a versatile new-style solvent in organic synthesis,and an important medical intermediate.In this work,a one-pot selective conversion of furfural(FA)into 2-MTHF was carried out over Zn doped Co/NC catalysts.The Zn-Co/NC-1 catalyst with trace Zn dopant(0.38 wt%)exhibited the best performance(yield of 2-MTHF:93.8%).According to the characterizations,it was found that the Zn not only incorporates into the carbon support but also partially dopes into Co nanoparticles.Subsequently,theoretical calculations demonstrated that the doping of Zn in carbon support can effectively enhance the electron transfer from the support to the metallic Co particle,leading to the electron-rich Co surface.The presence of Zn was found to promote the dissociation of hydrogen and to lower the diffusion barrier of hydrogen atom,in favor of the hydrogenation/hydrodeoxygenation processes.Furthermore,the Zn doped models exhibit much lower barrier in breaking C–OH bond of FOL,resulting in higher activity for hydrodeoxygenation of FOL.These theoretical results are consistent with the in situ FT-IR analysis of adsorption substrates and intermediates over Zn doped catalyst.This work reveals the mechanism of dopant Zn tailoring the electronic structure and catalytic performance of active sites,providing a deep insight into the design of economical and high-performance catalysts for hydrogenation/hydrodeoxygenation of biomass feedstocks.Lei Huang Liqiang Wang Zonghao Zhang Xinpeng Guo Xiaowen Zhang Johnny Muya Chabu Pingle Liu Feiying Tang 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,8:0

20Direct drop-casting synthesis of all-inorganic lead and lead-free halide perovskite microcrystals for high-performance photodetectors显示文摘Due to the exciting photoelectric properties,better stability,and environmental-friendly nature,all-inorganic halide perovskites(AIHPs),especially the lead-free perovskites,have attracted worldwide attention.However,the film quality of AIHPs fabricated by typical spin-coating and subsequent high-temperature annealing is still not satisfactory,restricting their further development.Herein,we demonstrate a simple low-temperature solution-processed drop-casting method to achieve highly-crystalline cubic CsPbBr_(3)and lead-free layer-structured Cs_(3)Sb_(2)I_(9)microcrystals(MCs).This drop-casting technique not only consumes the less amount of precursor solution but also eliminates the high-temperature annealing as compared with those of spin coating.When these MCs are configured into photodetectors,they exhibit superior device performance,which is in distinct contrast to the one of spin-coated counterparts.Specifically,the responsivity of CsPbBr_(3)MCs is found to be as large as 8,990 mA/W,being 13 times larger than the spin-coated films and even better than many state-of-the-art solution-processed AIHPs devices.This device performance enhancement is attributed to the better film quality and phase purity obtained by the drop-casting method.All these results can evidently fill the“technology gap”for further enhancing the material quality of solution-processed AIHPs and breaking down the barriers that hinder the development of AIHPs based optoelectronic devices.Zhengxun Lai You Meng Fei Wang Xiuming Bu Wei Wang Pengshan Xie Weijun Wang Chuntai Liu SenPo Yip Johnny C.Ho 2022Nano Research2022,15,4:0
