| 1 | Emission control strategies of hazardous trace elements from coal-fired power plants in China显示文摘China’s energy dependents on coal due to the abundance and low cost of coal.Coal provides a secure and stable energy source in China.Over-dependence on coal results in the emission of Hazardous Trace Elements(HTEs)including selenium(Se),mercury(Hg),lead(Pb),arsenic(As),etc.,from Coal-Fired Power Plants(CFPPs),which are the major toxic air pollutants causing widespread concern.For this reason,it is essential to provide a succinct analysis of the main HTEs emission control techniques while concurrently identifying the research prospects framework and specifying future research directions.The study herein reviews various techniques applied in China for the selected HTEs emission control,including the technical,institutional,policy,and regulatory aspects.The specific areas covered in this study include health effects,future coal production and consumption,the current situation of HTEs in Chinese coal,the chemistry of selected HTEs,control techniques,policies,and action plans safeguarding the emission control.The review emphasizes the fact that China must establish and promote efficient and clean ways to utilize coal in order to realize sustainable development.The principal conclusion is that cleaning coal technologies and fuel substitution should be great potential HTEs control technologies in China.Future research should focus on the simultaneous removal of HTEs,PM,SOx,and NOx in the complex flue gas. | Adwek George Boxiong Shen Dongrui Kang Jiancheng Yang Jiangze Luo | 2020 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,7: | 18 |
| 2 | Copula-Based Risk Management Models for Multivariable RMB Exchange Rate in the Process of RMB Internationalization显示文摘This paper investigates the dependence of the exchange rate of onshore Renminbi(RMB)and offshore RMB against US dollar(i.e., CNY and CNH) based on copula models. Eleven different copulas were selected to construct multivariate distribution and estimate the value-at-risk for RMB exchange rate. Empirical results show that time-invariant Student-t copula is the best model to fit the sample data. The positive upper and lower dependence indicates that CNY and CNH series tend to move in the same direction. Moreover, the dependence between the two exchange rates is asymmetric,which means that traditional models, such as Pearson's correlation, are inappropriate to measure the correlations between these markets. | 3 | Hydrothermal conversion of lignin and black liquor for phenolics with the aids of alkali and hydrogen donor显示文摘The potentials of phenolic productions from lignin and black liquor(BL)via hydrothermal technology with the aids of alkalis and hydrogen donors were investigated,by conducting batch experiments in micro-tube reactors with 300℃ sub-critical water as the solvent.The results showed that all the employed alkalis improved lignin degradation and thus phenolics production,and the strong alkalis additionally manifested deoxygenation to produce more phenolics free of methoxyl group(s).Relatively,hydrogen donors more visibly facilitated phenolics formation.Combination of strong alkali and hydrogen donors exhibited synergistically positive effects on producing phenolics(their total yield reaching 22 wt%)with high selectivities to phenolics,among which the yields of catechol and cresols respectively peaked 16 and 3.5 wt%.BL could be hydrothermally converted into phenolics at high yields(approaching 10 wt%with the yields of catechol and cresols of about 4 and 2 wt%,respectively)with the aids of its inherent alkali and hydrogen donors,justifying its cascade utilization. | Cuina Peng Guangyi Zhang Jiangze Han Xiaolei Li | 2019 | Carbon Resources Conversion2019,2,2: | 2 |

| 5 | Targeting efficient biomass gasification显示文摘The sustainability of biomass use as a primary energy source depends on the efficiency of its conversion processes.The key contributing factors are well understood,owing to extensive experimental and theoretical modeling efforts in literature.In this manuscript,we present a systematic study of the thermochemical conversion route that allows us to target desirable outcomes when converting biomass to other fuels and products.Using process synthesis techniques that include material,energy and work balances,we identify the best targets to consider for highly efficient processes given specific constraints.Our analysis shows that by supplying the right amount of oxygen,a 100%carbon conversion efficiency can be achieved for certain applications that require gas as product.If the objective is to obtain a cleaner fuel from biomass,converting it to char is most efficient in terms of carbon and energy conversion.According to our analysis,an energy neutral biomass gasification process is theoretically possible over a wide range of H_(2) and CO production rates.We demonstrate its feasibility by simulating the process on Aspen Plus®.The simulation reveals that with heat integration,we can achieve the energy neutral target at a hydrogen production rate of 0.9 mol/mol biomass.We further show that even at zero energy requirement,biomass gasification processes can have excess chemical potential,which can be recovered as useful work or conserved by producing more H2.Adding low temperature heat in the form of steam at 102℃ gives an 8% gain in chemical potential conservation and increases the hydrogen production rate by 60%.The insights revealed in this work allow for better decision making in early stages of process design,and consequently,more efficient biomass gasification processes. | Saneliswa Magagula Jiangze Han Xinying Liu Baraka C.Sempuga | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,5: | 2 |
