1High areal capacitance of Fe3O4-decorated carbon nanotubes for supercapacitor electrodes显示文摘A conceptually new approach has been developed for the fabrication of magnetite(Fe3O4)-decorated carbon nanotubes(M-CNTs)for negative electrodes of electrochemical supercapacitors.M-CNTs were prepared by an ultrasonic-assisted chemical synthesis method,which involved dispersion of functionalized CNTs in water,Fe3O4 formation on the CNTs surface,and particle extraction through liquid-liquid interface(PELLI).Palmitic acid was found to be an efficient new extractor for PELLI.The slurries produced after drying and redispersing M-CNTs and slurries obtained using PELLI were used for electrode fabrication.The electrodes prepared using PELLI showed superior performance due to reduced particle agglomeration.Testing results provided an insight into the influence of Fe3O4/CNTs mass ratio on the capacitance and capacitance retention at high charge-discharge rates.A capacitance of 5.82 F cm−2(145.4 F g−1)was achieved in Na2SO4 electrolyte using electrodes with high active mass of 40 mg cm−2 and ratio of active mass to current collector mass of 0.6.Good electrochemical performance was achieved at low impedance.The capacitance of the negative M-CNTs electrodes was comparable with capacitance of advanced positive MnO2-CNTs electrodes,which was beneficial for the fabrication of asymmetric devices.The asymmetric device has been fabricated,which showed promising performance in a voltage window of 1.6 V.Mohamed Nawwar Ryan Poon Ri Chen Rakesh PSahu Ishwar KPuri Igor Zhitomirsky 2019Carbon Energy2019,1,1:5
2PROPERTIES, WELDABILITY AND APPLICATIONS OF ADVANCED WROUGHT SUPERALLOYS FOR GAS TURBINE ENGINES显示文摘Alloy selection and alloy design both require consideration of an array of material attributes, including in-service properties, weldability and fabricability. Critical properties of advanced wrought superaUoys for gas turbine applications include high temperature strength, thermal stability, oxidation resistance and fatigue resistance. In this paper, the properties of twelve wrought solid-solution-strengthened and six age-hardenable superalloys are compared. Weldability is an important attribute and can be a major limiting factor in the use of certain alloys. Weldability test methods are discussed and the resistance of alloys to solidification cracking and strain-age cracking is compared. The use of weldability testing in the development of modern wrought superalloys is discussed with several examples cited. Finally, alloy selection for gas turbine components is outlined, taking into account both alloy properties and fabricability.D.L. Klarstrom V.R. 3Passive air sampling of organochlorine pesticides in a northeastern state of India,Manipur显示文摘Thirty-six polyurethane foam disk passive air samplers (PUF-PAS) were deployed over a year during January to December, 2009 at three locations, i.e., Imphal (urban site), Thoubal (rural site) and Waithou (alpine site) of Manipur, to assess the seasonal local atmospheric emission of selected organochlorine pesticides (OCPs). The average concentration of HCHs monitored at mountain site during hot season (Mar, Apr, and May) and rainy seasons (Jun, Jul, Aug, and Sep) were 403 and 349 pg/m 3 , respectively. DDTs had a high concentration with 384 pg/m 3 at rural site and 379 pg/m 3 at urban site during hot seasons. Endosulfans and chlordane were found high in concentration during hot seasons (260 pg/m 3 ) and low during retreating monsoon seasons (44 pg/m 3 ) at rural site. Most of the OCPs concentrations were high during cultivation period. The OCP concentrations of rainy season were highly correlated (p < 0.01) with OCPs of hot seasons. Further, positive correlation (p < 0.05) was also obtained between cold seasons and retreating monsoon. Principal component analysis showed a significant correlation among the four seasons and distribution pattern of OCPs in air. Back trajectory analysis by using HYPSLIT model showed a long range air transport of OCPs to the present study area. 5Oxide ancillary ligand-based europium β-diketonate complexes and their enhanced luminosity显示文摘Ternary materials of europium complex with2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedione(tmhd) ligand and aqua ligand as ancillary ligands have been prepared and characterized for various optoelectronic characteristics.Reactions of hydrated complex [Eu(tmhd)_(3)(H_(2)O)_(2)] proceeded with triphenylphosphine oxide(TPPO) and pyridine-N-oxide(PNO) ancillary ligands were studied to develop novel complexes. The prepared complexes show good thermal stability. A comparative investigation of preparedmaterials[Eu(tmhd)_(3)(H_(2)O)_(2)],[Eu(tmhd)_(3)(TPPO)_(2)] and [Eu(tmhd)_(3)(PNO)_(2)] was conducted for their luminescent behaviors in order to obtain the role of ancillary ligand in the enhancement of illumination amount generated from europium(Eu^(3+)) ion. Color coordinates of prepared ternary complexes such as[Eu(tmhd)_(3)(H_(2)O)_(2)]with(x = 0.54,y = 0.32),[Eu(tmhd)_(3)(TPPO)_(2)] with(x = 0.56, y = 0.32) and[Eu(tmhd)_(3)(PNO)_(2)] with(x = 0.57, y = 0.33) indicated that these materials exhibited bright red emission in visible region spectrum. The complexes show a proficient energy transport pathway from the ligands to the innermost Eu^(3+)by means of an ancillary ligand-sensitized luminescence process. 16Nanothermite colloids: A new prospective for enhanced performance显示文摘Nanothermites (metal oxide/metal) can offer tremendously exothermic self sustained reactions. CuO is one of the most effective oxidizers for naonothermite applications. This study reports on two prospectives for the manufacture of CuO nanoparticles. Colloidal CuO particles of 15 nm particle size were developed using hydrothermal synthesis technique. Multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with surface are 700m2/g was employed as a substrate for synthesis of CuO-coated MWCNTs using electroless plating. On the other hand, aluminium particles with combustion heat of 32000 J/g is of interest as high energy density material. The impact of stoichiometric nanothermite particles (CuO/Al & Cuo-coated MWCNTs/Al) on shock wave strength of Al/TNT nanocomposite was evaluated using ballistic mortar test. While CuO-coated MWCNTs decreased the shock wave strength by 15%;colloidal CuO enhanced the shock wave strength by 30%. The superior performance of colloidal CuO particles was correlated to their steric stabilization with employed organic solvent. This is the first time ever to report on fabrication, isolation, and integration of stablilized colloidal nanothermite particles into energetic matrix where intimate mixing between oxidizer and metal fuel could be achieved.M.
