3Moving particle semi-implicit simulation on the molten Wood's metal downward relocation process显示文摘In the case of a severe accident involving nuclear reactors,an important aspect that should be considered is the leakage of molten material from the inside of the reactor into the environment.These molten materials damage other reactor components,such as electrical tubes,grid plates and core catchers.In this study,the moving particle semi-implicit(MPS)method is adopted and improved to analyze the twodimensional downward relocation process of molten Wood’s metal as a representation of molten material in a nuclear reactor.The molten material impinges the Wood’s metal plate(WMP),which is mounted on a rigid dummy stainless steel in a cylindrical test vessel.The breaching process occurs because of heat transfer between the molten material and WMP.The formed breach areas were in good agreement with the experimental results,and they showed that the molten Wood’s metal spread above the WMP.The solid WMP fraction decreased with time until it reached the termination time of the simulation.The present results show that the MPS method can be applied to simulate and analyze the downward relocation process of molten material in the grid plate of a nuclear reactor.Anni Nuril Hidayati Abdul Waris Asril Pramutadi Andi Mustari Dwi Irwanto Nur Asiah Aprianti 2021Nuclear Science and Techniques2021,32,8:1

10Proximate composition, nutritional values and phytochemical screening of Piper retrofractum vahl. fruits显示文摘Objective: To investigate the proximate and mineral composition of the Piper retrofractum(P. retrofractum) vahl. Fruit and to evaluate its total alkaloids, phenol and flavonoid. Methods: The proximate composition of P. retrofractum fruit was ananlyzed using standard protocols according to Indonesian Standard and Association of Official Analytical Chemist. Meanwhile, mineral composition of the fruit was analyzed using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry. Phytochemical screening and quantification were performed using standard protocols according to Harborn and spectrophotometric methods. Results: The results showed that P. retrofractum fruit contained carbohydrate(63.4%), crude protein(11.4%), total ash(4.29%), dietary fiber(28.8%) and total fat(2.97%). The fruit also contained calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, phosphor, potassium, sodium and zinc in different concentrations. Additionally, quinone, sterol, glycosides and alkaloid were detected in both n-hexane and ethyl acetate extracts. Moreover, tannin was presented also in ethylacetate and methanol extracts. Meanwhile, methanol extract contained sterol, glycosides, flavones, tannin and alkaloid. The results also revealed that methanol extract of the fruit contained highest phenol compared to other extract. Finally, small quantity of flavonoid(0.060 0%±0.000 2%) was observed. 11Characterization of Formacell Lignin Derived from Black Liquor as a Potential Green Additive for Advanced Biocomposites显示文摘Black liquor is obtained as a by-product of the pulping process,which is used to convert biomass into pulp by removing lignin,hemicelluloses and other extractives from wood to free cellulose fibers.Lignin represents a major constituent in black liquor,with quantities varying from 20%to 30%,of which a very low share is used for manufacturing value-added products,while the rest is mainly burned for energy purposes,thus underestimating its great potential as a raw material.Therefore,it is essential to establish new isolation and extraction methods to increase lignin valorization in the development of bio-based chemicals.The aim of this research work was to determine the effect of KOH or ethanol concentration as an isolation agent on lignin yields and the chemical characteristics of lignin isolated from formacell black liquor of oil palm empty fruit bunch(OPEFB).Isolation of lignin was carried out using KOH with various concentrations ranging from 5%to 15%(w/v).Ethanol was also used to precipitate lignin from black liquor at concentrations varying from 5%to 30%(v/v).The results obtained showed that the addition of KOH solution at 12.5%and 15%concentrations resulted in better lignin yield and chemical properties of lignin,i.e.,pH values of 3.86 and 4.27,lignin yield of 12.78%and 14.95%,methoxyl content of 11.33%and 10.13%,and lignin equivalent weights of 476.25 and 427.03,respectively.Due to its phenolic structure and rich functional groups that are favorable for modifications,lignin has the potential to be used as a green additive in the development of advanced biocomposite products in various applications to replace current fossil fuel-based material,ranging from fillers,fire retardants,formaldehyde scavengers,carbon fibers,aerogels,and wood adhesives.Sri Hidayati Eugenia Fonny Budiyanto Hadi Saputra Sutopo Hadi Apri Heri Iswanto Nissa Nurfajrin Solihat Petar Antov Lee Seng Hua Widya Fatriasari MohdSapuan Salit 2023Journal of Renewable Materials2023,11,6:0

13Enzymatic recovery of glycopeptides from different industrial grades edible bird’s nest and its by-products:nutrient,probiotic and antioxidant activities,and physicochemical characteristics显示文摘This study was conducted to recover edible bird’s nest(EBN)hydrolysates from different grades of EBN,including the industrial by-products,using enzymatic treatment.The nutrient,physicochemical properties and antioxidant activities of the recovered hydrolysates at different hydrolysis times were evaluated.Results showed that the recovery yield of enzymatic hydrolysis was above 89%for all grades of EBN and the degree of hydrolysis increased over time.Nitrite content(0.321-0.433 mg/L)was below the permissible tolerance level for all samples.Interestingly,the antioxidant activities(DPPH and ABTS scavenging activities and ferric reducing antioxidant powder(FRAP)activity)were significantly higher(P≤0.05)in hydrolysates recovered from EBN by-products(EBNhC and EBNhD)as compared to the high grade EBN hydrolysates(EBNhA and EBNhB).The in-vitro probiotic activity of EBN and its hydrolysates were examined using the probiotic bacterium Lactobacillus plantarum.Evidently,EBN by-products hydrolysate(EBNhD)recorded the highest number of L.plantarum(1.1×1011 CFU/mL),indicating that low grade EBN has the potential as prebiotic material that promotes probiotic activity.This study demonstrated the concept of using EBN by-products hydrolysates for various applications,such as functional ingredients with enhanced bioactivities,to improve its economic value.Hidayati Syamimi Mohd Noor Rafi dah Mohd Ariff Lee Sin Chang Xin Yi Chai Hui Yan Tan Nur’Aliah Daud Abdul Salam Babji Seng Joe Lim 2022Food Science and Human Wellness2022,11,6:0
14A review of gynogenesis manipulation in aquatic animals显示文摘Gynogenesis is an established technique to generate all female type offspring and this technique has been successfully induced diploid gynogens progeny in aquatic animals of fishes and crustaceans.Monosex culture of all female shrimp and fishes were selected attribute to all female type offspring which have better size than male and help increase the market size and profitable.This article discusses on the protocol applied to produce gynogens progeny and the successful rate of gynogenesis production in fishes,molluscs and aquatic crustaceans of shrimps in general.Overall most of the UV length applied for irradiated the sperm were around 254-365 nm for(20-40 s),(20-80 s)and(5-8 s)for shrimps,254 nm,30 s for molluscs species and for fishes were around 254 nm for(1.5min)and(2-12 min)time of exposure respectively.For gynogenesis induction,the fertilized eggs were treated with cold shock,heat shock or cytochalasin-B for both shrimp and fishes gynogens technique.Fertilization rate was identified around 4.33%-19.67%in shrimp.Successful hatching rate was identified around 3.0%,14.9%-37.2%of gynogens offspring in shrimp and various percentages of hatching rates were identified from each species of fish gynogens.Overall,there is still low survival rate of gynogens produced using gynogenesis technique and further study should be carried out to improve the gynogens production.The discussed protocols serve as a guide lines for the gynogenesis technique application of all female monosex culture in the future.Hidayah Manan A.B.Noor Hidayati Nur Aina Lyana Adnan Amin-Safwan Hongyu Ma Nor Azman Kasan Mhd Ikhwanuddin 2022Aquaculture and Fisheries2022,7,1:0
