| 1 | Safety of tirofiban and dual antiplatelet therapy in treating intracranial aneurysms显示文摘Background Endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms usually involves stent-assisted coiling(SAC)and flow diverters.Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors such as tirofiban and dual antiplatelet therapy(DAPT)are required to prevent thromboembolic complications afterwards.We sought to determine the safety of tirofiban and DAPT in these cases.Methods We conducted a retrospective analysis of our database for patients with intracranial aneurysms who underwent SAC or flow diversion.The tirofiban-DAPT protocol used is described.Data regarding duration of infusion,placement of external ventricular devices(EVDs),complications,haemoglobin levels and platelet count before and 24 hours after antiplatelet therapy were collected and analysed.results One-hundred and forty-one patients with 148 aneurysms/procedures were included.110 aneurysms were treated acutely and 38 electively.Minor and major haemorrhagic events were recognised in 20%(30/148)aneurysms.Only 5(3.4%)intracerebral haemorrhages were symptomatic:3 cortical/SAH and 2 EVD-related.The average blood volume in symptomatic haemorrhages was 24.8 cc versus 5.42 cc in asymptomatic haemorrhages(p=0.002).The rate of EVD-related haemorrhages was 15.7%(19/121)and only 2(1.7%)were symptomatic.Most haemorrhagic events occurred in ruptured aneurysms(90.1%,p=0.01).No significant change in platelet count or haemoglobin levels before and 24 hours after administration of tirofiban and DAPT was documented.Concomitant administration of heparin did not increase haemorrhagic events.Conclusion The use of the GP IIb/IIIa inhibitors tirofiban and DAPT in this series was safe.Tirofiban and DAPT did not affect platelet count or haemoglobin levels and did not increase rate of symptomatic haemorrhages or thromboembolic complications. | Edgar A Samaniego Emilee Gibson Daichi Nakagawa Santiago Ortega-Gutierrez Mario Zanaty Jorge A Roa Pascal Jabbour David M Hasan | 2019 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2019，4，1： | 17 |
| 2 | Stroke mechanisms and outcomes of isolated symptomatic basilar artery stenosis显示文摘background While diffuse atherosclerotic disease affecting the posterior circulation has been described extensively,the prevalence,natural history and angiographic characteristics of isolated symptomatic basilar artery stenosis(ISBAS)remain unknown.Methods We reviewed our prospective institutional database to identify patients with≥50% symptomatic basilar artery(BA)stenosis without significant atherosclerotic burden in the vertebral or posterior cerebral arteries.Stroke mechanism,collateral circulation,and degree and length of stenosis were analysed.The primary outcome was time from index event to new transient ischaemic attack(TIA),acute ischaemic stroke(AIS)or death.Other outcome variables included modified Rankin Scale(mRS)score on discharge and last follow-up.results Of 6369 patients with AIS/TIA,91(1.43%)had ISBAS.Seventy-three(80.2%)patients presented with AIS and 18(19.8%)with TIA.Twenty-nine(31.9%)were women and the median age was 66.8±13.6 years.The mean follow-up time was 2.7 years.The most common stroke mechanism was artery-to artery thromboembolism(45.2%),followed by perforator occlusion(28.7%)and flow-dependent/hypoperfusion(15.1%).The percentage of stenosis was lower in patients who had favourable outcome compared with those with mRS 3-6 on discharge(78.3±14.3 vs 86.9±14.5,p=0.007).Kaplan-Meier curves showed higher recurrence/death rates in patients with≥80% stenosis,mid-basilar location and poor collateral circulation.Approximately 13% of patients with ISBAS presented with complete BA occlusion.Conclusion ISBAS is an uncommon(1.43%)cause of TIA and AIS.Men in their 60s are mostly affected,and artery-to artery embolism is the most common stroke mechanism.Mid-basilar location,≥80% stenosis and poor collateral circulation are important factors associated with worse prognosis. | Edgar A Samaniego Amir Shaban Santiago Ortega-Gutierrez Jorge A Roa David M Hasan Colin Derdeyn Biyue Dai Harold Adams Enrique Leira | 2019 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2019，4，4： | 10 |

| 6 | Antimicrobial Agents from Selected Medicinal Plants in Libya显示文摘Objective:To test the in vitro antimicrobial efficacy of water and methanol extracts of 23 plan species that are commonly used in Libyan folk medicine.Methods:The antimicrobial activity was determinec using the well-diffusion method.Four test microorganisms were used namely,Escherichia coli,Salmonella species,Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis.The minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) was determined for the high biologically active crude plant extracts.Results:Among 23 medicinal plants used in the study,only 5 methanolic extracts[Rosmarinus offcinalis L,Carduus marianium L.,Lantana camara L.,Rhus tripartite(ueria) Grande,and Thymus capitatus(L.) | 7 | Atmospheric pressure gliding arc discharge plasma treatments for improving germination, growth and yield of wheat显示文摘Wheat(Triticum aestivum) seeds were treated with atmospheric pressure gliding arc discharge plasmas to investigate the effects on water absorption, seed germination rate, seedling growth and yield in wheat. The surface architectures and functionalities of the seeds were found to modify due to plasma treatments. 6 min treatment was provided 95%–100% germination rate.For the treatment duration of 3 and 9 min the growth activity, dry matter accumulation, leaves chlorophyll contents, longest spikes, number of spikes/spikelet and total soluble protein content in shoots were improved. | 8 | Outcomes of staged hepatectomies for liver malignancy显示文摘Liver malignancies are the fifth most common cause of death worldwide.Surgical intervention with curative intent is the treatment of choice for liver tumors as it provides long-term survival.However,only 20%of patients with metastatic liver lesions can be managed by curative liver resection.In most of the cases,hepatectomy is not feasible because of insufficient future liver remnant(FLR).Two-stage hepatectomy is advocated to achieve liver resection in a patient who is considered to not be a candidate for resection.Procedures of staged hepatectomy include conventional two-stage hepatectomy,portal vein embolization,and associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for a staged hepatectomy.Technical success is high for each of these procedures but variable between them.All the procedures have been reported as being effective in achieving a satisfactory FLR and completing the second-stage resection.Moreover,the overall survival and disease-free survival rates have improved significantly for patients who were otherwise considered nonresectable;yet,an increase in the morbidity and mortality rates has been observed.We suggest that this type of procedure should be carried out in high-flow centers and through a multidisciplinary approach.An experienced surgeon is key to the success of those interventions. | Naif A Albati Ali A Korairi Ibrahim Al Hasan Helayel K Almodhaiberi Abdullah A Algarni | 2019 | World Journal of Hepatology2019，11，6： | 2 |
| 9 | Sharkskin-Inspired Magnetoactive Reconfigurable Acoustic Metamaterials显示文摘Most of the existing acoustic metamaterials rely on architected structures with fixed configurations,and thus,their properties cannot be modulated once the structures are fabricated.Emerging active acoustic metamaterials highlight a promising opportunity to on-demand switch property states;however,they typically require tethered loads,such as mechanical compression or pneumatic actuation.Using untethered physical stimuli to actively switch property states of acoustic metamaterials remains largely unexplored.Here,inspired by the sharkskin denticles,we present a class of active acoustic metamaterials whose configurations can be on-demand switched via untethered magnetic fields,thus enabling active switching of acoustic transmission,wave guiding,logic operation,and reciprocity.The key mechanism relies on magnetically deformable Mie resonator pillar(MRP)arrays that can be tuned between vertical and bent states corresponding to the acoustic forbidding and conducting,respectively.The MRPs are made of a magnetoactive elastomer and feature wavy air channels to enable an artificial Mie resonance within a designed frequency regime.The Mie resonance induces an acoustic bandgap,which is closed when pillars are selectively bent by a sufficiently large magnetic field.These magnetoactive MRPs are further harnessed to design stimuli-controlled reconfigurable acoustic switches,logic gates,and diodes.Capable of creating the first generation of untethered-stimuli-induced active acoustic metadevices,the present paradigm may find broad engineering applications,ranging from noise control and audio modulation to sonic camouflage. | Kyung Hoon Lee Kunhao Yu Hasan Al Ba’ba’a An Xin Zhangzhengrong Feng Qiming Wang | 2020 | Research2020，，1： | 2 |
