| 3 | Mechanism of calcium mitigating membrane fouling in submerged membrane bioreactors显示文摘Two parallel membrane bioreactors (MBRs) were operated under different calcium dosages (168.5, 27 mg/L) to gain a better understanding of the mechanism of retarding membrane fouling by adding calcium. The results showed that the particle size of sludge flocs increased and the particle size distribution tended to be narrow at the optimum dosage (168.5 mg/L). Calcium was effective in decreasing loosely bound extracellular polymeric substances (LB-EPS) in microbial flocs and soluble microbial products (SMP) in the supernatant at the dosage of 168.5 mg/L by strengthening the neutralization and bridging of EPS with flocs. Furthermore, the amount of CODS and CODC decreased in both the mixed liquor and the fouling cake layer on the membrane surface. In order to compare the filtration characteristics of cake layers from the MBRs with the two calcium dosages, the specific cake resistance and the compressibility coefficient were measured. The specific cake resistance from the MBR with optimum dosage (168.5 mg/L) was distinctly lower than that with low dosage (27 mg/L). The compressibility coefficient of the cake layers under two dosages were respectively attained as 0.65, 0.91. | 4 | Sequence-stratigraphic frameworks and their palaeogeographic patterns for the Permian Lopingian of the Dianqiangui Basin and its adjacent areas of Southwestern China显示文摘The Permian Lopingian in the Dianqiangui Basin and its adjacent areas is marked by the coal measures of the Wuchiapingian and the carbonate strata of the Changhsingian stages. For the Lopingian of the Dianqiangui Basin and its adjacent areas,the diversity of sedimentary facies and the obviousness of facies change provide an advantaged condition on a study of sequence stratigraphy. Approximately,the Wuchiapingian stage constitutes a third-order sequence and the Changhsingian stage forms an-other. For the Wuchiapingian stage in the study area,coal-measures were developed on the attached platform and,in addition,a special coal-measure that is composed of both limestone beds and coal beds was also developed in the central part of some isolated platforms. Grain-bank grainstones and packstones were formed on the margin of the attached platform as well as in the windward part of iso-lated platforms. For the Changhsingian stage in the study area,open-platform limestones were formed on the attached platform,while sponge-reef limestones were developed both on the margin of the at-tached platform and on the isolated platforms. The Lopingian Series is a set of basin-facies muddy shales with interbeds of silicalites in the inter-platform basin,which appears a set of the large-thick coarse clastic strata of molasses covering direct the deep-water strata from the Devonian to the Per-mian Yangsingian in the Qinzhou-Fangcheng region in the southern part of the study area. All of these features indicate the complexity of temporal-spatial facies-changes. Sequence-stratigraphic frame-works could be established,which would illustrate two types of facies-changing surfaces and dia-chronisms in the stratigraphic records,based on the combination of both biostratigraphic and chronostratigraphic materials and the regularity reflected by temporal evolutionary succession of sediments as well as spatial distributional patterns of sedimentary facies. Ultimately,features of sedi-mentary succession and palaeogeographical evolution of the Permian Lopingian in the study area are revealed clearly in a series of the panel diagrams of sequence-stratigraphic frameworks and the outline maps showing the sedimentary-facies and palaeogeography. The Permian Lopingian formed by two third-order sequences differs from the stratigraphy of the same era characterized by the constant re-gression along Euramerica. Most specially,if the end-Guadalupian mass-extinction event is genetically related to a regressive event represented by the unconformity of the first episode of the Dongwumovement in the study area,the mass-extinction event at the turn from the Permian to the Triassic is genetically related to a rapid transgressive event re-flected by the drowning unconformity in the study area. | 6 | Micro-droplet Digital Polymerase Chain Reaction and Real-Time Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction Technologies Provide Highly Sensitive and Accurate Detection of Zika Virus显示文摘The establishment of highly sensitive diagnostic methods is critical in the early diagnosis and control of Zika virus(ZIKV)and in preventing serious neurological complications of ZIKV infection. In this study, we established micro-droplet digital polymerase chain reaction(ddPCR) and real-time quantitative PCR(RT-qPCR) protocols for the detection of ZIKV based on the amplification of the NS5 gene. For the ZIKV standard plasmid, the RT-qPCR results showed that the cycle threshold(Ct) value was linear from 10~1 to 10~8 copy/l L, with a standard curve R^2 of 0.999 and amplification efficiency of 92.203%;however, a concentration as low as 1 copy/l L could not be detected. In comparison with RT-qPCR, the dd PCR method resulted in a linear range of 10~1–10~4 copy/l L and was able to detect concentrations as low as 1 copy/l L. Thus, for detecting ZIKV from clinical samples, RT-qPCR is a better choice for high-concentration samples(above 10~1 copy/l L),while ddPCR has excellent accuracy and sensitivity for low-concentration samples. | 7 | Draft genome sequence of cauliflower(Brassica oleracea L.var.botrytis)provides new insights into the C genome in Brassica species显示文摘Cauliflower is an important variety of Brassica oleracea and is planted worldwide.Here,the high-quality genome sequence of cauliflower was reported.The assembled cauliflower genome was 584.60 Mb in size,with a contig N50 of 2.11 Mb,and contained 47,772 genes;56.65%of the genome was composed of repetitive sequences.Among these sequences,long terminal repeats(LTRs)were the most abundant(32.71%of the genome),followed by transposable elements(TEs)(12.62%).Comparative genomic analysis confirmed that after an ancient paleohexaploidy(γ)event,cauliflower underwent two whole-genome duplication(WGD)events shared with Arabidopsis and an additional whole-genome triplication(WGT)event shared with other Brassica species.The present cultivated cauliflower diverged from the ancestral B.oleracea species~3.0 million years ago(Mya).The speciation of cauliflower(~2.0 Mya)was later than that of B.oleracea L.var.capitata(approximately 2.6 Mya)and other Brassica species(over 2.0 Mya).Chromosome no.03 of cauliflower shared the most syntenic blocks with the A,B,and C genomes of Brassica species and its eight other chromosomes,implying that chromosome no.03 might be the most ancient one in the cauliflower genome,which was consistent with the chromosome being inherited from the common ancestor of Brassica species.In addition,2,718 specific genes,228 expanded genes,2 contracted genes,and 1,065 positively selected genes in cauliflower were identified and functionally annotated.These findings provide new insights into the genomic diversity of Brassica species and serve as a valuable reference for molecular breeding of cauliflower. | Deling Sun Chunguo Wang Xiaoli Zhang Wenlin Zhang Hanmin Jiang Xingwei Yao Lili Liu Zhenghua Wen Guobao Niu Xiaozheng Shan | 2019 | Horticulture Research2019,6,1: | 6 |
| 8 | The “Traditional Chinese medicine regulating liver regeneration” treatment plan for reducing mortality of patients with hepatitis B-related liver failure based on real-world clinical data显示文摘On the basis of real-world clinical data,the study aimed to explore the effect and mechanisms of the treatment plan of“traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)regulating liver regeneration.”A total of 457 patients with HBV-related liver failure were retrospectively collected.The patients were divided into three groups:the modern medicine control group(MMC group),patients treated with routine medical treatment;the control group combining traditional Chinese and Western medicine(CTW),patients treated with routine medical treatment plus the common TCM formula;and the treatment group of“TCM regulating liver regeneration”(RLR),patients treated with both routine medical treatment and the special TCM formula of RLR.After 8 weeks of treatment,the mortality of patients in the RLR group(12.31%)was significantly lower than those in the MMC(50%)and CTW(29.11%)groups.Total bilirubin level significantly decreased and albumin increased in the RLR group when compared with the MMC and CTW groups(P<0.05).In addition,there were significant differences in the expression of several cytokines related to liver regeneration in the RLR group compared with the MMC group.RLR treatment can decrease jaundice,improve liver function,and significantly reduce the mortality in patients with HBV-related liver failure.The mechanism may be related to the role of RLR treatment in influencing cytokines related to liver regeneration. | Ling Dai Xiang Gao Zhihua Ye Hanmin Li Xin Yao Dingbo Lu Na Wu | 2021 | Frontiers of Medicine2021,15,3: | 4 |

| 11 | Discussion on Performance Evaluation Method of Distributed Combined Cooling, Heating, and Power System显示文摘This paper briefly analyzed some problems and limitations of existing evaluation indicators for distributed energy system performance. Based on the diversity and difference of the energy form and grade of cooling, heating and power in the distributed combined cooling, heating, and power(CCHP) system, this paper proposed three-index evaluation system composed of key indicators including relative energy saving rate, exergy efficiency and thermoelectric ratio. In order to further prove the reasonableness and scientificity of the evaluation index system applied in performance evaluation of distributed CCHP system, it enumerated, calculated, and evaluated the energy conservation of three engineering cases. The evaluation results showed that the high energy-saving rate of the system did not mean good energy-saving, but also the efficiency of the system should be examined. Only when the energy saving rate and exergy efficiency were both high, can the energy saving performance of the system be demonstrated.
