| 1 | Oxidative stress as a crucial factor in liver diseases显示文摘Redox state constitutes an important background of numerous liver disorders. The redox state participates in the course of inflammatory, metabolic and proliferative liver diseases. Reactive oxygen species(ROS) are primarily produced in the mitochondria and in the endoplasmic reticulum of hepatocytes via the cytochrome P450 enzymes. Under the proper conditions, cells are equipped with special molecular strategies that control the level of oxidative stress and maintain a balance between oxidant and antioxidant particles. Oxidative stress represents an imbalance between oxidant and antioxidant agents. Hepatocytic proteins, lipids and DNA are among the cellular structures that are primarily affected by ROS and reactive nitrogen species. The process results in structural and functional abnormalities in the liver. Thus, the phenomenon of oxidative stress should be investigated for several reasons. First, it may explain the pathogenesis of various liver disorders. Moreover, monitoring oxidative markers among hepatocytes offers the potential to diagnose the degree of liver damage and ultimately to observe the response to pharmacological therapies. | 3 | Land Use Change and Anthropogenic Driving Forces:A Case Study in Yanhe River Basin显示文摘Human activities alter land use patterns and affect landscape sustainability. It is therefore very important to investigate the relationship between land use change and human activities. This study focuses on the detection of changing land use patterns in the Yanhe River Basin in northern Loess Plateau of China between 1995 and 2008. Landscape metrics were used to analyze the changing land use patterns and to explore the related anthropogenic driving forces. Results show that:1) Totally, 186 590 ha of croplands were converted into alternate land-use types (equivalent to 61.7% of the original cropland area). The majority of cropland areas were found to be converted into grassland and woodland areas (accounting for 55.9% and 4.9% respectively of the original cropland areas). 2) Both cropland and woodland demonstrated an increasing fragmentation tendency while grasslands showed a decreasing fragmentation tendency. 3) Multiple driving forces of land use change were thought to act together to changes in landscape metrics in the Yanhe River Basin. The anthropogenic driving forces were analyzed from four perspectives:ecological conservation policy, labor force transfer, industrial development, and rural settlement. The policy of the GfG (Grain for Green) project was the main driving factor which expedited the conversion from cropland to woodland and grassland. Industrial development was also found to affect land use change through the direct impact of economic activities such as oil exploration and agricultural production, or through indirect impacts such as the industrial structures readjustment. Labor force transfer from rural to urban areas was found to follow the industrial structure readjustment and further drove land use change from cropland to off-farm land use. | 5 | Synchronous and metachronous neoplasms in gastric cancer patients:A 23-year study显示文摘AIM:To determine the prevalence and characteristics of additional primary malignancies in gastric cancer(GC)patients.METHODS:GC patients(862 total;570 men,292women;mean age 59.8±12.8 years)diagnosed at the Department of Gastroenterology at Pomeranian Medical University over a period of 23 years were included in this retrospective analysis of a prospectively maintained database.Mean follow-up time was 31.3±38.6 mo(range 1-241 mo).The following clinicopathological features of patients with synchronous tumors were compared to those with metachronous tumors:age,sex,symptom duration,family history of cancer,tumor site,stage(early vs advanced),histology,and blood group.GC patients with and without a second tumor were compared in terms of the same clinicopathological features.RESULTS:Of 862 GC patients,58(6.7%)developed a total of 62 multiple primary tumors,of which 39(63%)were metachronous and 23(37%)synchronous.Four(6.9%)of the 58 multiple GC patients developed two or more neoplasms.The predominant tumor type of the secondary neoplasms was colorectal(n=17),followed by lung(n=9),breast(n=8),and prostate(n=7).Age was the only clinicopathological feature that differed between GC patients with synchronous vs metachronous malignancies;GC patients with synchronous neoplasms were older than those with metachronous neoplasms(68.0±10.3 years vs 59.9±11.1years,respectively,P=0.008).Comparisons between patients with and without a second primary cancer revealed that the only statistically significant differences were in age and blood group.The mean age of the patients with multiple GC was higher than that of those without a second primary tumor(63.4±11.4years vs 59.5±13.0 years,respectively,P=0.026).GC patients with a second primary tumor were more commonly blood group O than those without(56.2%vs 31.6%,respectively,P=0.002).CONCLUSION:GC patients may develop other primary cancers;appropriate preoperative and postoperative diagnostic modalities are thus required,particularly if patients are older and blood group O. | Magorzata Lawniczak Alicja Gawin Halina Jaroszewicz-Heigelmann Wiesawa Rogoza-Mateja Joanna Raszeja-Wyszomirska Andrzej Biaek Katarzyna Karpińska-Kaczmarczyk Teresa Starzyńska | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,23: | 8 |
| 6 | Liver injury in the era of COVID-19显示文摘Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(SARS-CoV-2)has undoubtedly revolutionized the whole globe and given a new point of view on respiratory tract infections.Nevertheless,coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)cannot be perceived as a disease limited only to pneumonia with diverse severity.More and more reports have demonstrated a wide range of possible systemic symptoms,including hepatic complications.Liver injury has been observed in a significant proportion of patients,especially in those with a severe or critical illness.COVID-19 might provoke a deterioration of liver function in patients with already diagnosed chronic liver diseases and without pre-existing liver disorders.The deterioration of liver function worsens the prognosis,increases the risk of a severe course of SARS-CoV-2 infection and prolongs the hospital stay.In general,patients who develop liver dysfunction in COVID-19 are mainly males,elderly people,and those with higher body mass index.The underlying mechanisms for hepatic failure in patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 are still unclear,nevertheless liver damage appears to be directly connected with virus-induced cytopathic effects.A liver injury observed during hospitalization might be simultaneously caused by the use of potentially hepatotoxic drugs,mainly antiviral agents.This minireview focuses on a possible relationship between COVID-19 and the liver,potential molecular mechanisms of liver damage,the characteristics of liver injury and suggested factors predisposing to hepatic manifestations in COVID-19 patients. | Halina Cichoż-Lach Agata Michalak | 2021 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2021,27,5: | 6 |
| 7 | Towards an evaluation of alcoholic liver cirrhosis and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease patients with hematological scales显示文摘BACKGROUND Seeking potentially novel blood markers of liver fibrosis and steatosis is constantly of crucial importance.Despite a growing number of studies in this field of hepatology,a certain role of hematological indices in the course of liver disorders has not been fully elucidated,yet.AIM To evaluate a diagnostic accuracy of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR),platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(PLR)and mean platelet volume-to-platelet-ratio(MPR)in the course of alcoholic liver cirrhosis(ALC)and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).METHODS One hundred forty-two patients with ALC,92 with NAFLD and 68 persons in control group were enrolled in the study.Hematological indices(NLR,PLR and MPR),indirect and direct markers of liver fibrosis(aspartate transaminase to alkaline transaminase ratio,aspartate transaminase to platelet ratio index,fibrosis-4,gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase to platelet ratio,procollagen Ⅰ carboxyterminal propeptide,procollagen Ⅲ aminoterminal propeptide,transforming growth factor-α,platelet-derived growth factor AB,laminin)were measured in each person.Model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score in ALC group and NAFLD fibrosis score together with BARD score were calculated in NAFLD patients.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves and area under the curve(AUC)values were applied to assess the sensitivity and specificity of examined markers and to evaluate proposed cut-offs of measured indices in the course of ALC and NAFLD.RESULTS MPR and NLR values in ALC patients were significantly higher in comparison to control group;PLR level was significantly lower.MPR and PLR correlated with assessed indirect and direct markers of liver fibrosis.MPR,NLR and PLR correlated with MELD score.NLR level in NAFLD patients was significantly higher in comparison to controls.MPR correlated with indirect markers of liver fibrosis and NAFLD fibrosis score.AUC values and proposed cut-offs for NLR,PLR and MPR in ALC patients were:0.821(>2.227),0.675(<70.445)and 0.929(>0.048),respectively.AUC values and proposed cut-offs for NLR,PLR and MPR in NAFLD group were:0.725(>2.034),0.528(>97.101)and 0.547(>0.038),respectively.CONCLUSION Hematological markers are inseparably connected with serological indices of liver fibrosis in ALC and NAFLD patients.MPR and NLR turned out to be the most powerful parameters in ALC patients. | Agata Michalak Halina Cichoz-Lach Malgorzata Guz Joanna Kozicka Marek Cybulski Witold Jeleniewicz Andrzej Stepulak | 2020 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,47: | 6 |
| 8 | Effect of interferon alpha and ribavirin treatment on serum levels of transforming growth factor-β1,vascular endothelial growth factor,and basic fibroblast growth factor in patients with chronic hepatitis C显示文摘AIM:To assess the role of transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1),vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)andbasic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF)in the pathogenesisof fibrosis associated with chronic hepatitis C(CHC)and to evaluate the influence of the antiviral therapyon above parameter levels depending on the treatmentresults(complete response or no response).METHODS:Study group included 100 patients withCHC,in whom fibrosis in liver specimens was assessed(Scheuer fibrosis score:1-4 points).Control groupincluded 30 subjects with antibodies anti-HCV presentand persistently normal ALT level,without fibrosis(Scheuer fibrosis score:0 points).Concentration ofstudied parameters was assayed in the serum byimmunoenzymatic method before and after the therapywith interferon alpha-2b and ribavirin.RESULTS:TGF-β1 levels were significantly higher in thestudy group compared to the control group(35.89 vs 32.37ng/mL;P=0.023).Such differences were not found in VEGFand bFGF levels.In patients showing complete response(negative HCV RNA and normal ALT level),significantincrease in VEGF(112.8 vs 315.03 pg/mL;P<0.05)andbFGF(2.51 vs 15.79 pg/mL;P=0.04)levels were found.Significant decrease in TGF-β1 level was observed bothin responders(37.44 vs 30.02 ng/mL;P=0.05),andin non-responders(38.22 vs 30.43 ng/mL;P=0.043).bFGF levels before the treatment were significantly lower(2.51 vs 5.94 pg/mL;P=0.04),and after the treatmentsignificantly higher(15.79 vs 4.35 pg/mL;P=0.01) in patients with complete response than in those with noresponse.CONCLUSION:Among the analyzed parametersTGF-β1 seems to play the most important role in thepathogenesis of fibrosis in CHC.Levels of this factor aresignificantly lower in subjects who do not have fibrosisdeveloped in them.Good therapeutic effect in CHCpatients is associated with significant changes in TGF-β1,VEGF,and bFGF levels,bFGF seems to have the highestusefulness in the prognosis of treatment efficacy. | Ewa Janczewska-Kazek Bogdan Marek Dariusz Kajdaniuk Halina BorgieI-Marek | 2006 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2006,12,6: | 5 |

| 10 | Red blood cell distribution width derivatives in alcohol-related liver cirrhosis and metabolic-associated fatty liver disease显示文摘BACKGROUND Looking for undiscovered blood markers of liver fibrosis and steatosis still remains an issue worth exploring.There are still plenty of unresolved issues related to the actual role of hematological indices as potential markers of liver function.AIM To study red blood cell distribution width(RDW),RDW-to-platelet ratio(RPR)and RDW-to-lymphocyte ratio(RLR) in alcohol-related liver cirrhosis(ALC) and metabolic-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD).METHODS The study group was composed of 302 people:142 patients with ALC and 92 with MAFLD;68 persons were included as controls.RDW,RPR and RLR were measured in each person.Indirect and direct parameters of liver fibrosis were also assessed [aspartate transaminase to alkaline transaminase ratio,aspartate transaminase to platelet ratio index(APRI),fibrosis-4(FIB-4),gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase to platelet ratio(GPR),procollagen I carboxyterminal propeptide,procollagen Ⅲ aminoterminal propeptide,transforming growth factor-α,plateletderived growth factor AB,laminin].MELD score in ALC patients and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) fibrosis score together with BARD score were obtained in the MAFLD group.The achieved results were compared to controls.Then a correlation between assessed markers was done.Diagnostic value of each investigated parameter and its suggested cut-off in the research group RESULTS RDW,RPR and RLR values turned out to be significantly higher in ALC and MAFLD groups compared to controls(ALC:P<0.0001;NAFLD:P<0.05,P<0.0001 and P<0.0001,respectively).RPR correlated positively with MELD score(P<0.01) and indirect indices of liver fibrosis(FIB-4 and GPR;P<0.0001) in ALC patients;negative correlations were found between PDGF-AB and both:RDW and RPR(P<0.01 and P<0.0001,respectively).RPR correlated positively with NAFLD fibrosis score and APRI(P<0.0001) in the MAFLD group;a positive relationship was observed between RDW and FIB-4,too(P<0.05).AUC values and suggested cut-offs for RDW,RPR and RLR in ALC patients were:0.912(>14.2%),0.965(>0.075) and 0.914(>8.684),respectively.AUC values and suggested cut-offs for RDW,RPR and RLR in MAFLD patients were:0.606(>12.8%),0.724(>0.047) and 0.691(>6.25),respectively.CONCLUSION RDW with its derivatives appear to be valuable diagnostic markers in patients with ALC.They can also be associated with a deterioration of liver function in this group. | Agata Michalak Małgorzata Guz Joanna Kozicka Marek Cybulski Witold Jeleniewicz Tomasz Lach Halina Cichoż-Lach | 2022 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2022,28,38: | 4 |
| 11 | 天然恒牙列的动态咬合接触形式显示文摘目的:在既往研究中.从未停止过关于修复和正畸治疗中进行咬合重建时.应该建立何种形式的咬合接触的讨论。对天然恒牙列的动态咬合的流行病学调查将有助于走出这种持续讨论的困境。本研究的目的就是要通过调查研究.总结年青群体和老年群体天然牙列的特征性动态咬合接触形式,并且分析动态咬合接触形式与性别和年龄之间的相关性。材料和方法:本研究共调查了834人。所有的调查对象都具有天然牙列.并且没有修复体存在。调查对象的年龄范围是20--63岁。在调查对象进行牙诱导的侧方和前伸运动过程中,检查天然牙的动态咬合接触形式。结果:结果发现存在以下的动态咬合接触形式:双侧和单侧的尖牙保护[牙合],组牙功能[牙合].平衡[牙合]以及“其他[牙合]型”。男性和女性之间不同类型的动态咬合接触形式的出现概率相同。但是.一些咬合接触形式的出现率与年龄有相关性。随着年龄的增加.双侧和单侧尖牙保护耠的出现率出现下降趋势,而组牙功能[牙合]的出现率上升。平衡[牙合]以及“其他[牙合]型”的出现率很低.并且没有呈现与年龄相关的变化趋势。结论:双侧尖牙保护[牙合]和组牙功能[牙合]是年青患者的特征性咬合接触形式.而老年患者中组牙功能[牙合]的接触形式更加普遍。当年青患者接受修复和正畸手段的咬合重建时.尖牙保护[牙合]是一种最适合的咬合接触形式,而对于老年患者来说.组牙功能[牙合]则更加适合。需要进一步的研究来探讨[牙合]型和牙周炎、磨牙症或者颞下颌关节紊乱病之间的关系。 | Halina Panek Teresa Matthews-Brzozowska Danuta Nowakowska Beata Panek Grzegorz Bielicki Slawomir Makacewicz Malgorzata Mank iewicz 李健(译) 姜婷(审) | 2009 | 中国口腔医学继续教育杂志2009,12,6: | 2 |

| 13 | Investigation on the Use of the Weakly Basic Polyacrylate Anion-Exchanger Amberlite IRA-68 for Sorption and Separation of Iminodiacetate Complexes of Rare Earth Elements显示文摘Based on the determined affinity series of rare earth element complexes with IMDA for the anion-exchangers, purification of macroquantities of Nd 3+ from Y 3+, Sm 3+ from Ho 3+, La 3+ from Nd 3+ and La 3+ from Pr 3+ on the weakly basic gel anion-exchanger Amberlite IRA-68 was studied. Using the presented method on 1 L of Amberlite IRA-68 in the acetate form, it is possible to obtain about 240 g Nd 2O 3 purified from Y 2O 3. Great difference in affinity of La 3+ and Nd 3+ as well as Pr 3+ complexes for this anion-exchanger in the acetate form indicates the possibility of applying this process for purification of lanthanum on the increased scale. On 1 L of Amberilte IRA-68 in the acetate form it is possible to obtain about 1125 g La 2O 3 purified from Nd 2O 3.
