| 2 | Performance of biotrickling filters packed with structured or cubic polyurethane sponges for VOC removal显示文摘Two identical bench-scale biotrickling filters (BTFs),BTF 1 and BTF 2,were evaluated for toluene removal at various gas empty bed contact times (EBCTs) and organic loadings.BTF 1 and BTF 2 were packed with structured and cubic synthetic polyurethane sponges,respectively.At a constant toluene loading of 16 g/(m 3 ·hr),toluene removal efficiencies decreased from 98.8% to 64.3% for BTF 1 and from 98.4% to 74.1% for BTF 2 as gas EBCT decreased from 30 to 5 sec.When the toluene loading increased from 35 to 140 g/(m 3 ·hr) at a gas EBCT of 30 sec,the removal efficiencies decreased from 99.1% to 77.4% for BTF 1 and from 99.0% to 81.5% for BTF 2.The pressure drop for both BTFs increased with increased air flow rate,and did not significantly vary while the toluene loading was increased under similar operation conditions.BTF 1 and BTF 2 could start up successfully within 19 and 27 days,respectively,when packed with fresh sponge media,and the performances could be restored in 3-7 days after biomass was removed and wasted from the media.BTF 2 displayed higher removal efficiency even under shorter EBCT or higher loading rate than BTF1 when other operation conditions were similar,while it showed lower pressure drop than BTF 1 during the whole period of operation.These results demonstrated that both BTFs could treat waste gas containing toluene effectively. | Chunping Yang Guanlong Yu Guangming Zeng Haining Yang Fayuan Chen Congying Jin | 2011 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,8: | 10 |
| 3 | Current progress in developing metal oxide nanoarrays-based photoanodes for photoelectrochemical water splitting显示文摘Solar energy driven photoelectrochemical(PEC) water splitting is a clean and powerful approach for renewable hydrogen production. The design and construction of metal oxide based nanoarray photoanodes is one of the promising strategies to make the continuous breakthroughs in solar to hydrogen conversion efficiency of PEC cells owing to their owned several advantages including enhanced reactive surface at the electrode/electrolyte interface, improved light absorption capability, increased charge separation efficiency and direct electron transport pathways. In this Review, we first introduce the structure,work principle and their relevant efficiency calculations of a PEC cell. We then give a summary of the state-of the-art research in the preparation strategies and growth mechanism for the metal oxide based nanoarrays, and some details about the performances of metal oxide based nanoarray photoanodes for PEC water splitting. The DP TiO_2 film was synthesized via a facile PS-templated method with the thickness being controlled by the spin-coating speed. It was found that there is an optimum DP TiO_2 film thickness for achieving an effective ETL, a suitable perovskite/TiO_2 interface, an efficient light harvester and thus a high performance C-PSC. In particular, such a DP TiO_2 film can act as a scaffold for complete-filling of the pores with perovskite and for forming high-quality perovskite crystals that are seamlessly interfaced with Ti_O2 to enhance interfacial charge injection. | 13 | A Preliminary Study on the Datong Fault Belt显示文摘The Datong fault belt is a NE trending fault in the northern Qinghai-Xizang (Tibet) Plateau and controls the boundary of the Xining Basin and Datong Basin. It consists of the Maziying-Miaogou (F_1) fault and the Laoye Mountain-Nanmenxia fault (F_2). There is obvious displacement in vertical direction along the belt. The field investigation results show that this belt has long-term activity. There are several meters long crushed zones and veins along the fault side in the basement rock. On the fault section,the Cambria system thrusts over the red-brick-colored Quaternary Period gravel,and there is a fault gouge of several centimeters thick developed on the fault plane. The fault gouge date (ESR) on the fault plane is 610±61ka. The covering deluvial loess is not dislocated,and the OSL result is 14.6±1.5ka. So it can be concluded that the fault belt was active in the middle Pleistocene,but inactive in the late Pleistocene according to the age data and geomorphologic features. Interior formations of the Datong basin features fold with the major axis orienting northwest. According to the relation of fault and fold deformation,Datong fault is a transversal tear,which is due to uneven compression of the folds in different parts and NNE trending regional compressive stress. It is common among the NE trending faults in the northeast of Qinghai-Xizang (Tibet) Plateau. These NE trending faults aren't large,and most are located in the active plate. | 15 | Urban structure and the risk of influenza A(H1N1) outbreaks in municipal districts显示文摘Changsha was one of the most affected areas during the 2009 A(H1N1)influenza pandemic in China.Here,we analyze the spatial–temporal dynamics of the 2009 pandemic across Changsha municipal districts,evaluate the relationship between case incidence and the local urban spatial structure and predict high-risk areas of influenza A(H1N1).We obtained epidemiological data on all cases of influenza A(H1N1)reported across municipal districts in Changsha during period May 2009–December 2010 and data on population density and basic geographic characteristics for 239 primary schools,97 middle schools,347 universities,96 malls and markets,674 business districts and 121 hospitals.Spatial–temporal K functions,proximity models and logistic regression were used to analyze the spatial distribution pattern of influenza A(H1N1)incidence and the association between influenza A(H1N1)cases and spatial risk factors and predict the infection risks.We found that the 2009 influenza A(H1N1)was driven by a transmission wave from the center of the study area to surrounding areas and reported cases increased significantly after September 2009.We also found that the distribution of influenza A(H1N1)cases was associated with population density and the presence of nearest public places,especially universities(OR=10.166).The final predictive risk map based on the multivariate logistic analysis showed high-risk areas concentrated in the center areas of the study area associated with high population density.Our findings support the identification of spatial risk factors and highrisk areas to guide the prioritization of preventive and mitigation efforts against future influenza pandemics. | Hong Xiao Xiaoling Lin Gerardo Chowell Cunrui Huang Lidong Gao Biyun Chen Zheng Wang Liang Zhou Xinguang He Haining Liu Xixing Zhang Huisuo Yang | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,5: | 1 |
