1A 3D-bioprinted scaffold with doxycycline-controlled BMP2-expressing cells for inducing bone regeneration and inhibiting bacterial infection显示文摘Large bone defects face a high risk of pathogen exposure due to open wounds,which leads to high infection rates and delayed bone union.To promote successful repair of infectious bone defects,fabrication of a scaffold with dual functions of osteo-induction and bacterial inhibition is required.This study describes creation of an engineered progenitor cell line(C3H10T1/2)capable of doxycycline(DOX)-mediated release of bone morphogenetic protein-2(BMP2).Three-dimensional bioprinting technology enabled creation of scaffolds,comprising polycaprolactone/mesoporous bioactive glass/DOX and bioink,containing these engineered cells.In vivo and in vitro experiments confirmed that the scaffold could actively secrete BMP2 to significantly promote osteoblast differentiation and induce ectopic bone formation.Additionally,the scaffold exhibited broad-spectrum antibacterial capacity,thereby ensuring the survival of embedded engineered cells when facing high risk of infection.These findings demonstrated the efficacy of this bioprinted scaffold to release BMP2 in a controlled manner and prevent the occurrence of infection;thus,showing its potential for repairing infectious bone defects.Minqi Wang Hanjun Li Yiqi Yang Kai Yuan Feng Zhou Haibei Liu Qinghui Zhou Shengbing Yang Tingting Tang 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,5:3
2Copper-based bimetallic electrocatalysts for CO_(2) reduction:From mechanism understandings to product regulations显示文摘Electrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction reaction(CO_(2) RR)is a promising method to solve current environment and energy issues.Copper-based catalysts have been widely studied for converting CO_(2) into value-added hy-drocarbon products.Cu monometallic catalyst has been proved to have some shortcomings,including relatively high energy barriers and diverse reaction pathways,leading to low reaction activities and poor product selec-tivity,respectively.Recently copper-based bimetallic tandem catalysts have attracted extensive attentions due to their special catalyst structure,which can be easily regulated to achieve high CO_(2) RR reactivity and product selectivity.With the development of quantum chemistry calculations and spectroscopic characterization methods,deep understandings of CO_(2) RR from the mechanism perspective provide a broad horizon for the design of effi-cient catalysts.This review offers a good summary of reaction mechanisms and product regulation strategies over copper-based bimetallic catalysts,along with a brief discussion on future directions towards their practical applications.Haibei Yang Hongyuan Chuai Qingrui Meng Meiyan Wang Sheng Zhang Xinbin Ma 2023Materials Reports(Energy)2023,3,1:0
3Mechanical Properties of a Eucalyptus-Based Oriented Oblique Strand Lumber for Structural Applications显示文摘Wood and wood-based composite materials have gained increasing attention in the sustainable building industry because of their renewability and environmental friendliness.Oriented oblique strand lumber(Eucalyptus Strand Wood,ESWood),which is manufactured from fast-growing small diameter eucalyptus wood(Eucalyptus urophylla×E.grandis),is introduced in this paper.Small clear specimen tests were conducted to determine the mechanical properties of ESWood material while full-scale component tests were performed to observe the structural performance of ESWood beams.A comparison of mechanical properties of ESWood with other wood/bamboo-based materials is then reported.From the results presented herein,it appears that the strength and stiffness properties of ESWood are affected by grain directionality and glued layers.However,it still has preferable mechanical properties as a building material,which is comparable or superior to those of other engineered wood/bamboo-based products(e.g.,Sitka spruce,LVL,OSL,Glulam,and Glubam).Furthermore,results from full-scale component tests show the stable mechanical performance of beams made by ESWood.This study makes a significant contribution to a potential utilization of fast-growing eucalyptus for general use in construction,and the presented mechanical tests results can serve as a fundamental data for more applications of ESWood in practical engineering.Jiawei Chen Haibei Xiong Zhifang Wang Linqing Yang 2019Journal of Renewable Materials2019,7,11:0
