| 1 | Plate subduction, oxygen fugacity, and mineralization显示文摘Plate subduction is the largest natural factory that processes elements,which controls recycling and mineralization of a variety of elements.There are three major ore deposit belts in the world:the circumPacific,the centralAsian,and the Tethys belts.All the three belts are closely associated with plate subductions,the mechanism remains obscure.We approached this problem from systematic studies on the behaviours of elements during geologic processes.This contribution summaries the recent progress of our research group.Our results suggest that porphyry Cu deposits form through partial melting of subducted young oceanic crust under oxygen fugacities higher than AFMQ^+1.5,which is promoted after the elevation of atmospheric oxygen at ca.550 Ma.Tin deposits are associated with reducing magmatic rocks formed as a consequence of slab rollback.The Neo-Tethys tectonic regime hosts more than 60%of the world's total Sn reserves.This is due to the reducing environment formed during the subduction of organic rich sediments.For the same reason,porphyry Cu deposits formed in the late stages during the closure of the Neo-Tethys Ocean.Tungsten deposits are also controlled by slab rollback,but is not so sensitive to oxygen fugacity.Subduction related W/Sn deposits are mostly accompanied by abundant accessory fluorites due to the breakdown of phengite and apatite.Decomposition of phengite is also significant for hard rock lithium deposits,whereas orogenic belt resulted from plate subduction promote the formation of Li brine deposits.Cretaceous red bed basins near the Nanling region are favorable for Li brines.Both Mo and Re are enriched in the oxidationreduction cycle during surface processes,and may get further enriched once Mo-,Re-enriched sediments are subducted and involved in magmatism.During plate subduction,Mo and Re fractionate from each other.Molybdenum is mainly hosted in porphyry Mo deposits and to a less extent,porphyry Cu-Mo deposits,whereas Re is predominantly hosted in porphyry Cu-Mo deposits and sedimentary sulfide deposits. | LIU He LIAO Renqiang ZHANG Lipeng LI Congying SUN Weidong | 2020 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,1: | 10 |
| 2 | Natural vegetation restoration of Liaodong oak(Quercus liaotungensis Koidz.) forests rapidly increased the content and ratio of inert carbon in soil macroaggregates显示文摘The lack of clarity of how natural vegetation restoration influences soil organic carbon(SOC) content and SOC components in soil aggregate fractions limits the understanding of SOC sequestration and turnover in forest ecosystems.The aim of this study was to explore how natural vegetation restoration affects the SOC content and ratio of SOC components in soil macroaggregates(>250 μm), microaggregates(53–250 μm), and silt and clay(<53 μm) fractions in 30-, 60-, 90-and 120-year-old Liaodong oak(Quercus liaotungensis Koidz.) forests, Shaanxi, China in 2015.And the associated effects of biomasses of leaf litter and different sizes of roots(0–0.5, 0.5–1.0, 1.0–2.0 and >2.0 mm diameter) on SOC components were studied too.Results showed that the contents of high activated carbon(HAC), activated carbon(AC) and inert carbon(IC) in the macroaggregates, microaggregates and silt and clay fractions increased with restoration ages.Moreover, IC content in the microaggregates in topsoil(0–20 cm) rapidly increased;peaking in the 90-year-old restored forest, and was 5.74 times higher than AC content.In deep soil(20–80 cm), IC content was 3.58 times that of AC content.Biomasses of 0.5–1.0 mm diameter roots and leaf litter affected the content of aggregate fractions in topsoil, while the biomass of >2.0 mm diameter roots affected the content of aggregate fractions in deep soil.Across the soil profiles, macroaggregates had the highest capacity for HAC sequestration.The effects of restoration ages on soil aggregate fractions and SOC content were less in deep soil than in topsoil.In conclusion, natural vegetation restoration of Liaodong oak forests improved the contents of SOC, especially IC within topsoil and deep soil.The influence of IC on aggregate stability was greater than the other SOC components, and the aggregate stability was significantly affected by the biomasses of litter, 0.5–1.0 mm diameter roots in topsoil and >2.0 mm diameter roots in deep soil.Natural vegetation restoration of Liaodong oak forests promoted SOC sequestration by soil macroaggregates. | SUN Lipeng HE Lirong WANG Guoliang JING Hang LIU Guobin | 2019 | Journal of Arid Land2019,11,6: | 5 |
| 3 | Plate convergence in the Indo-Pacific region显示文摘The Indo-Pacific convergence region is the best target to solve the teo remaining challenges of the plate tectonics theory,i.e.,subduction initiation and the driving force of plate tectonics.Recent studies proposed that the Izu-Bonin subduction initiation belongs to spontaneous initiation,which implies that it started from extension,followed by low angle subduction.Numerical geodynamic modeling suggests that the initiation of plate subduction likely occurred along a transform fault,which put the young spreading ridge in direct contact with old oceanic crust.This,however,does not explain the simultaneous subduction initiation in the west Pacific region in the Cenozoic.Namely,the subduction initiations in the Izu-BoninMariana,the Aleutian,and the Tonga-Kermadec trenches are associated with oceanic crusts of different ages,yet they occurred at roughly the same time,suggesting that they were all triggered by a maj or change in the Pacific plate.Moreover,low angle subduction induces compression rather than extension,which requires external compression forces.Given that the famous Hawaiian-Emperor bending occurred roughly at the same time with the onset of westward subductions in the west Pacific,we propose that these Cenozoic subductions were initiated by the steering of the Pacific plate,which are classified as induced initiation.Induced subduction initiation usually occurs in young ocean basins,forming single-track subduction.The closure s of Neo-Tethys Oceans were likely triggered by plume s in the south,forming northward subductions.Interestingly,the Indian plate kept on moving northward more than 50 Ma after the collision between the Indian and Eurasian continents and the break-off of the subducted oceanic slab attached to it.This strongly suggests that slab pull is not the main driving force of plate tectonics,whereas slab sliding is. | SUN Weidong ZHANG Lipeng LIAO Renqiang SUN Saijun LI Congying LIU He | 2020 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,4: | 4 |

| 6 | Third-order nonlinear optical properties of WTe2 films synthesized by pulsed laser deposition显示文摘The prominent third-order nonlinear optical properties of WTe2 films are studied through the Z-scan technique using a femtosecond pulsed laser at 1030 nm.Open-aperture(OA)and closed-aperture(CA)Z-scan measurements are performed at different intensities to investigate the nonlinear absorption and refraction properties of WTe2 films.OA Z-scan results show that WTe2 films always hold a saturable absorption characteristic without transition to reverse saturable absorption.Further,a large nonlinear absorption coefficientβis determined to be-3.37×10^3 cm∕GW by fitting the OA Z-scan curve at the peak intensity of 15.603 GW∕cm^2.In addition,through the slow saturation absorption model,the ground state absorption cross section,excited state absorption cross section,and absorber's density were found to be 1.4938×10^-16 cm^2,1.2536×10^-16 cm^2,and 6.2396×10^20 cm^-3,respectively.CA Z-scan results exhibit a classic peak–valley shape of the CA Z-scan signal,which reveals a self-defocusing optical effect of WTe2 films under the measured environment.Furthermore,a considerable nonlinear refractive index value n2 can be obtained at-1.629×10^-2 cm^2∕GW.Ultimately,the values of the real and imaginary parts of the third-order nonlinear susceptibility of WTe2 are roughly estimated to be-5.93×10^-9 and-1.01×10^-8 esu with the help of first-principles calculations.WTe2 possesses sizeable thirdorder nonlinear coefficients compared with other materials,which suggests that it has great potential to improve performance in nonlinear optical devices. | MI HE YEQUAN CHEN LIPENG ZHU HUAN WANG XUEFENG WANG XINLONG XU ZHANYU REN | 2019 | Photonics Research2019,7,12: | 1 |

| 8 | Geochemistry of subducted metabasites exhumed from the Mariana forearc:Implications for Pacific seamount subduction显示文摘Seamounts on the drifting oceanic crust are inevitably carried by plate motions and eventually accreted or subducted.However,the geochemical signatures of the subducted seamounts and the significance of seamount subduction are not well constrained.Hundreds of seamounts have subducted beneath the Philippine Sea Plate following the westward subduction of the Pacific Plate since the Eocene(~52 Ma).The subducted oceanic crust and seamount materials can be exhumed from the mantle depth to the seafloor in the Mariana forearc region by serpentinite mud volcanoes,providing exceptional opportunities to directly study the subducted oceanic crust and seamounts.The International Ocean Discovery Program(IODP)expedition 366 has recovered a few metamorphosed mafic clasts exhumed from the Mariana forearc serpentinite mud volcanoes,e.g.,the Fantangis?a and Asùt Tesoru seamounts.These mafic clasts have tholeiitic to alkaline affinities with distinct trace elements and Nd-Hf isotopes characteristics,suggesting different provenances and mantle sources.The tholeiites from the Fantangisna Seamount have trace element characteristics typical of mid-ocean ridge basalt.The Pacific-type Hf-Nd isotopic compositions,combined with the greenschist metamorphism of these tholeiites further suggest that they came from the subducted Pacific oceanic crust.The alkali basalts-dolerites from the Fantangisna and Asùt Tesoru seamounts show ocean island basalt(OIB)-like geochemical characteristics.The OIB-like geochemical signatures and the low-grade metamorphism of these alkali basalts-dolerites suggest they came from subducted seamounts that originally formed in an intraplate setting on the Pacific Plate.The Pacific Plate origin of these metabasites suggests they were formed in the Early Cretaceous or earlier.Two types of OIBs have been recognized from alkali metabasites,one of which is geochemically similar to the HIMU-EMI-type OIBs from the West Pacific Seamount Province,and another is similar to the EMII-type OIBs from the Samoa Island in southern Pacific,with negative Nb-Ta-Ti anomalies and enriched Nd-Hf isotopes.Generally,these alkali metabasites are sourced from the heterogeneous mantle sources that are similar to the present South Pacific Isotopic and Thermal Anomaly.This study provides direct evidence for seamount subduction in the Mariana convergent margins.We suggest seamount subduction is significant to element cycling,mantle heterogeneity,and mantle oxidation in subduction zones. | Jianghong Deng Lipeng Zhang He Liu Haiyang Liu Renqiang Liao Abdul Shakoor Mastoi Xiaoyong Yang Weidong Sun | 2021 | Geoscience Frontiers2021,12,3: | 1 |
| 9 | Structure-tissue exposure/selectivity relationship(STR) correlates with clinical efficacy/safety显示文摘Drug optimization, which improves drug potency/specificity by structure-activity relationship(SAR) and drug-like properties, is rigorously performed to select drug candidates for clinical trials. However,the current drug optimization may overlook the structure-tissue exposure/selectivity-relationship(STR) in disease-targeted tissues vs. normal tissues, which may mislead the drug candidate selection and impact the balance of clinical efficacy/toxicity. In this study, we investigated the STR in correlation with observed clinical efficacy/toxicity using seven selective estrogen receptor modulators(SERMs) that have similar structures, same molecular target, and similar/different pharmacokinetics. The results showed that drug’s plasma exposure was not correlated with drug’s exposures in the target tissues(tumor, fat pad, bone, uterus),while tissue exposure/selectivity of SERMs was correlated with clinical efficacy/safety. Slight structure modifications of four SERMs did not change drug’s plasma exposure but altered drug’s tissue exposure/selectivity.Seven SERMs with high protein binding showed higher accumulation in tumors compared to surrounding normal tissues, which is likely due to tumor EPR effect of protein-bound drugs. These suggest that STR alters drug’s tissue exposure/selectivity in disease-targeted tissues vs. normal tissues impacting clinical efficacy/toxicity. | 10 | Mycorrhizal Networks Interacting with Litter Improves Nutrients and Growth for One Plant through the Vary of N/P Ratio under Karst Soil显示文摘Arbuscular mycorrhizae(AM)fungi affect nutrient uptake for host plants,while it is unclear how AM fungi interacting with soil litter affect plant growth and nutrient utilization through mycorrhizal networks in karst soil of deficient nutrients beyond the rhizosphere.An experiment was conducted in a microcosm composed of a planting compartment for Cinnamomum camphora seedlings with or without Glomus mosseae fungus(M+vs.M−)and an adjacent litter compartment containing or not containing additional litter material of Arthraxon hispidus(L+vs.L−),where the compartments are connected either by nylon mesh of 20μm or 0.45μm which either allow available mycorrhizal networks within the litter compartment or prevent mycelium entering into the litter compartment(N+vs.N−).Plant biomass and nutrients were measured.The results showed that the addition of litter changed the symbiotic process in mycorrhizal colonization,spore,and hyphal density,which when in association with the host plant then affected the biomass,and accumulations of N(nitrogen)and P(phosphorus)in the individual plant as well as root,stem,and leaf respectively.AM fungi increased N and P accumulations and N/P ratio in individual plants and plant tissues.A decrease of the N/P ratio of the individual plant was observed when AM fungus interacted significantly with litter through mycorrhizal networks in the litter compartment.The results indicate that the C.camphora seedlings benefited from litter in nutrient utilization of N and P through the vary of N/P ratio when accessing mycorrhizal networks.These findings suggest that mycorrhizal networks interacting with litter improve growth and nutrients of N and P for plants through the vary of N/P ratio in order to alleviate nutrient limitation under karst soil. | Liling Kang Yuejun He Lipeng Zang Jianpeng Si Ying Yang Kaiping Shen Tingting Xia Qiyu Tan Bangli Wu Yun Guo Wei Wang Qin Liang | 2021 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2021,90,3: | 0 |
| 11 | Geochemical and Zircon Hf-O Isotopic Constraints on the Origin of Wulian A-Type Granite in Shandong Peninsula,Eastern China显示文摘Early Cretaceous A-type granitic plutons are widely distributed in Shandong Peninsula,which are of great significance to understanding the regional tectonic evolution.Here we report geochemical characteristics,geochronological results,and zircon Hf-O isotope compositions of Wulian granites to reveal its origin and geological significance.Wulian granites share most characteristics of the A_(2)-type granite.Zircon U-Pb LA-ICPMS analysis for Wulian A-type granites yields average age of 116.6±2.1 Ma.Zircon O isotope values range from 4.20‰to 5.57‰,and these values are marginally identical to or slightly lower than those of mantle zircon(5.3‰±0.3‰).Zirconε_(Hf)(t)values(-26.1--23.5)indicate an enriched source.Integrated zircon Hf-O isotope compositions indicate that the source region of Wulian granites involves the components of ancient oceanic crust.Apatites from Wulian granites have the lower chlorine(0.06 wt.%-0.15 wt.%)and higher fluorine contents(2.11 wt.%-2.48 wt.%)compared with Haiyang pluton,together with their high(La/Gd)_(N),(La/Yd)_(N) and low(Gd/Yb)_(N) ratios and high oxygen state magma reflected from zircon,signifying that slab derived component was added into the overlying mantle region through fluid/melt.The geochemical characteristics of Wulian granites could be explained by the ridge(between the Izanagi and Pacific plates)subduction model,which began to influence the tectonic evolution of the Xuhuai region and Shandong Peninsula since~130±5 Ma.The following slab window between two plates plausibly explains regional extension,resulting in hot magma upwelling and the formation of the A-type granite belt.Integrating the Lower Yangtze River belt and Shandong Peninsula A-type granite proves the northward movement of the ridge between the Pacific Plate and Izanagi Plate. | Shuai Yuan He Li Lipeng Zhang Congying Li Haiyang Liu Ying-Yu Xue Weidong Sun | 2022 | Journal of Earth Science2022,33,3: | 0 |
