1Nitrogen Deposition and Its Spatial Pattern in Main Forest Ecosystems along North-South Transect of Eastern China显示文摘A continuous three-year observation(from May 2008 to April 2011)was conducted to characterize the spatial variation of dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN)deposition at eight main forest ecosystems along the north-south transect of eastern China(NSTEC).The results show that both throughfall DIN deposition and bulk DIN deposition increase from north to south along the NSTEC.Throughfall DIN deposition varies greatly from 2.7 kg N/(ha·yr)to 33.0 kg N/(ha·yr),with an average of 10.6 kg N/(ha·yr),and bulk DIN deposition ranges from 4.1 kg N/(ha·yr)to 25.4 kg N/(ha·yr),with an average of 9.8 kg N/(ha·yr).NH4+-N is the dominant form of DIN deposition at most sampling sites.Additionally,the spatial variation of DIN deposition is controlled mainly by precipitation.Moreover,in the northern part of the NSTEC,bulk DIN deposition is 17%higher than throughfall DIN deposition,whereas the trend is opposite in the southern part of the NSTEC.The results demonstrate that DIN deposition would likely threaten the forest ecosystems along the NSTEC,compared with the critical loads(CL)of N deposition,and DIN deposition in this region is mostly controlled by agricultural activities rather than industrial activities or transportation.ZHAN Xiaoyun YU Guirui HE Nianpeng FANG Huajun JIA Bingrui ZHOU Mei WANG Chuankuan ZHANG Junhui ZHAO Guangdong WANG Silong LIU Yunfen YAN Junhua 2014Chinese Geographical Science2014,24,2:10
2Radiomics-based predictive risk score: A scoring system for preoperatively predicting risk of lymph node metastasis in patients with resectable non-small cell lung cancer显示文摘Objective: To develop and validate a radiomics-based predictive risk score(RPRS) for preoperative prediction of lymph node(LN) metastasis in patients with resectable non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 717 who underwent surgical resection for primary NSCLC with systematic mediastinal lymphadenectomy from October 2007 to July 2016. By using the method of radiomics analysis, 591 computed tomography(CT)-based radiomics features were extracted, and the radiomics-based classifier was constructed. Then, using multivariable logistic regression analysis, a weighted score RPRS was derived to identify LN metastasis. Apparent prediction performance of RPRS was assessed with its calibration,discrimination, and clinical usefulness.Results: The radiomics-based classifier was constructed, which consisted of 13 selected radiomics features.Multivariate models demonstrated that radiomics-based classifier, age group, tumor diameter, tumor location, and CT-based LN status were independent predictors. When we assigned the corresponding score to each variable,patients with RPRSs of 0-3, 4-5, 6, 7-8, and 9 had distinctly very low(0%-20%), low(21%-40%), intermediate(41%-60%), high(61%-80%), and very high(81%-100%) risks of LN involvement, respectively. The developed RPRS showed good discrimination and satisfactory calibration (C-index: 0.785, 95% confidence interval(95% CI):0.780-0.790)Additionally, RPRS outperformed the clinicopathologic-based characteristics model with net reclassification index(NRI) of 0.711(95% CI: 0.555-0.867).Conclusions: The novel clinical scoring system developed as RPRS can serve as an easy-to-use tool to facilitate the preoperatively individualized prediction of LN metastasis in patients with resectable NSCLC. 4Fouling community characteristics in subtropical coastal waters of the southwestern East China Sea显示文摘A fouling study was conducted in coastal waters southwest of the East China Sea between December 2013 and November 2014. A total of 84 species of fouling organisms belonging to 69 genera, 49 families, and 10 phyla were recorded over the entire year. The community composition was dominated by coastal warm-water species belonging to typical subtropical inner bay communities. The prosperous stage of settlement lasted from April to September, and the adhesion strength of the fouling organisms was the highest in summer. Sessile suspension feeders constituted the main core of settlement for the fouling community. Amphibalanus reticulatus was the most dominant and representative species of fouling organism, and other dominant species included Caprella equilibra, Ectopleura crocea, Anthopleura nigrescens, Stylochus ijimai, Spirobranchus kraussii, Crassostrea angulata, Perna viridis, Jassa falcata, Stenothoe valida, Sphaerozius nitidus, and Biflustra grandicella. The individuals in the fouling community showed a mutual dependence or constraint relationship due to competition for settlement space and food, and they exhibited a particular spatiotemporal distribution in accordance with adaptation to environmental factors. Temperature was the most important environmental factor determining the geographic distribution of fouling organisms. The temperature characteristics of species essentially reflect the differences in the fouling community composition in various climate zones. The species number, settlement stage, and settlement rate of fouling organisms are closely related to water temperature. 5Preparation of birnessite-supported Pt nanoparticles and their application in catalytic oxidation of formaldehyde显示文摘Flaky and nanospherical birnessite and birnessite-supported Pt catalysts were successfully prepared and characterized by means of Xray diffraction (XRD),transmission electron microscopy (TEM),energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and N2 adsorption-desorption.Effects of the birnessite morphology and Pt reduction method on the catalytic activity for the complete oxidation of formaldehyde (HCHO) were investigated.It was found that flaky birnessite exhibited higher catalytic activity than nanospherical birnessite.The promoting effect of Pt on the birnessite catalyst indicated that the reduction method of the Pt precursor greatly influenced the catalytic performance.Flaky birnessite-supported Pt nanoparticles reduced by KBH 4 showed the highest catalytic activity and could completely oxidize HCHO into CO2 and H2O at 50℃,whereas the sample reduced using H2-plasma showed lower activity for HCHO oxidation.The differences in catalytic activity of these materials were jointly attributed to the effects of pore structure,surface active sites exposed to HCHO and the dispersion of Pt nanoparticles.Linlin Liu Hua Tian Junhui He Donghui Wang Qiaowen Yang 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,6:4
6Community structure and spatial distribution of macrobenthos in the shelf area of the Bering Sea显示文摘Field investigations of marine macrobenthos were conducted at ten sites in the Bering Sea in July 2010. Altogether 90 species of macrobenthos belonging to 59 families and 78 genera were identified. Among them, 41 polychaetes, 16 mollusks, 23 crustaceans, three echinoderms, two cnidarians, one nemertean, one priapulid, two sipunculids, and one echiuran were identified. The average density and biomass of total macrobenthos were 984 ind./m2 and 1 207.1 g/m2 of wet weight, respectively. The predominant species in the study area were Scoloplos armiger, Eudorella pacifica, Ophiura sarsii, Heteromastus filiformis, Ennucula tenuis, and Harpiniopsis vadiculus by abundance, while the predominant species in this area was Echinarachnius parma by biomass. Hierarchical cluster analysis(Bray–Curtis similarity measure) revealed that two important benthic assemblages in the study area were Community A and Community B. Community A was stable and Community B was unstable, as shown by the Abundance/Biomass Comparisons(ABC) approach. 7Homo-PROTAC mediated suicide of MDM2 to treat non-small cell lung cancer显示文摘The dose-related adverse effects of MDM2-P5 3 inhibitors have caused significant concern in the development of clinical safe anticancer agents.Herein we report an unprecedented homo-PROTAC strategy for more effective disruption of MDM2-P53 interaction.The design concept is inspired by the capacity of sub-stoichiometric catalytic PROTACs enabling to degrade an unwanted protein and the dual functions of MDM2 as an E3 ubiquitin ligase and a binding protein with tumor suppressor P53.The new homo-PROTACs are designed to induce self-degradation of MDM2.The results of the investigation have shown that PROTAC 11 a efficiently dimerizes MDM2 with highly competitive binding activity and induces proteasome-dependent self-degradation of MDM2 in A549 non-small cell lung cancer cells.Furthermore,markedly,enantiomer 11 a-1 exhibits potent in vivo antitumor activity in A549 xenograft nude mouse model,which is the first example of homo-PROTAC with in vivo therapeutic potency.This study demonstrates the potential of the homo-PROTAC as an alternative chemical tool for tumorigenic MDM2 knockdown,which could be developed into a safe therapy for cancer treatment.Shipeng He Junhui Ma Yuxin Fang Ying Liu Shanchao Wu Guoqiang Dong Wei Wang Chunquan Sheng 2021Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,6:4
8An ecological survey of the abundance and diversity of benthic macrofauna in Indonesian multispecific seagrass beds显示文摘Seagrasses are one of the most productive ecosystems in coastal areas and support a wide variety of associated fauna. The tropical Indo-Pacific region is considered to have the highest diversity of seagrass plant species and the largest distribution areas of seagrass, yet the seagrass macrofauna in this region are poorly understood. To help fill this gap in our knowledge, an ecological survey was conducted to describe the abundance and diversity of benthic macrofauna from tropical seagrass beds and to determine between-station variations within a transect and between-site variations in macrofaunal abundance, taxa richness and community structure. Benthic macrofaunal samples associated with seagrass beds were collected with a core sampler on the east coast of North Sulawesi in May 2014 and on the west coast in October 2015. A total of 149 species from 14 higher taxa was collected. The most species-rich groups were polychaetes(56 species, 26% of total individual numbers), decapods(20 species, 9% of total numbers) and amphipods(18 species, 35% of total numbers). Between-station variations within a transect displayed different patterns between the east coast and the west coast. On the east coast, there were marked variations in abundance between stations within a transect for the macrofauna and amphipod assemblages. Both taxa richness and abundance varied with station for the macrofauna and polychaete assemblages on the west coast, resulting from the heterogeneity of the substrate along a transect. One-way ANOSIM together with MDS ordination indicated that macrofaunal community structure in seagrasses differed significantly between the east coast and the west coast, corresponding with the division of seagrasses into two broad categories of habitats, i.e.,mangrove-seagrass-reef continuum and seagrass-reef continuum. Compared with other studies in tropical areas,the abundance and diversity of benthic macrofauna in the present study were moderate. 10Biodiversity and community structural characteristics of macrobenthos in the Chukchi Sea显示文摘Field sampling of the macrobenthos from 23 stations in the Chukchi Sea was conducted during the 4th CHINARE(Chinese National Arctic Research Expeditions, July–August, 2010). We identified a total of 140 species of macrozoobenthos belonging to nine phyla, which were dominated by polychaetes(66), crustaceans(30), and mollusks(25), followed by echinoderms(9) and others(ten others, including four cnidarians, one oligochaete, one sipuncula, one priapulida, two bryozoans, and one urochordata). The dominant species were Aphelochaeta pacifica, Heteromastus filiformis, Nephtys ciliata, Nephtys caeca, Scoletoma fragilis, Golfingia margaritacea, Nuculana pernula, Macoma calcarea, Ennucula tenuis, Macoma inquinata, Musculus discors, Echinarachnius parma, and Ophiura sarsii, so there were more cold-eurythermal boreal immigrants than truly Arctic species(endemics). The average density and biomass(mean ± SD across all stations) of the total macrozoobenthos were(916 ± 907) ind/m2 and(902.9 ± 1 227.7) g/m2(wet weight), respectively. Relatively high density and biomass were observed in the samples from the northeastern and southern Chukchi Sea. The spatial variation of benthic communities in the study sea area was relatively large; this spatial heterogeneity has led to high diversity and a patchy distribution pattern in the community structure. 11An Advance in Complete Oxidation of Formaldehyde at Low Temperatures显示文摘Formaldehyde(HCHO) emitted from chemical manufacturing plants including methanol-gasotine/ diesel fuel vehicles and the construction and decoration materials is one of the major air pollutions,which induces photochemical pollution and hazards human health.Great efforts have been made for the reduction or control of the emission of HCHO to satisfy the stringent environmental regulations.Now,a new study supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China reports mesoporous manganese oxide with novel nanostructures for the decomposition of HCHO.The obtained manganese oxide nanomaterials showed high catalytic activities for oxidative decomposition of HCHO at low temperatures.Complete conversion of HCHO to CO_2 and H_2O were achieved,and no harmful byproducts were detected in effluent gases.The catalytic activities of these nanomaterials are significantly higher than those of previously reported manganese oxide octahedral molecular sieve(OMS-2) nanorods,MnO_x powders,and alumnina-supported mangnaese-palladium oxide catalysts.These results provide a new route for the removal of HCHO and other air pollutions.Hua Tian Junhui He 2009Science Foundation in China2009,17,2:2

13Rapid assessment of DNA damage induced by polystyrene nanosphere suspension using a photoelectrochemical DNA sensor显示文摘Nanomaterials have been used increasingly in a wide variety of applications, and some of them have shown toxic effects on experimental animals and cells. In this study, a previously established photoelectrochemical DNA sensor was employed to rapidly detect DNA damage induced by polystyrene nanosphere (PSNS) suspensions. In the sensor, a double-stranded DNA film was assembled on a semiconductor electrode, and a DNA intercalator, Ru(bpy)2(dppz)2+ (bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine, dppz = dipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-c]phenazine) was used as the photoelectrochemical signal indicator. After the DNA-modified electrode was exposed to 2.0 mg/mL PSNS suspension, photocurrent of DNA-bound Ru(bpy)2(dppz)2+ decreased by about 20%. The decrease is attributed to the chemical damage of DNA and consequently less binding of Ru(bpy)2(dppz)2+ molecules to the electrode. Gel electrophoresis of DNA samples incubated with PSNS suspension confirmed DNA damage after the chemical exposure. However, in both photoelectrochemical and gel electrophoresis experiments, extensively washed PSNS did not induce any DNA damage, and the supernatant of PSNS suspension exhibited comparable DNA damage as the unwashed PSNS suspension. Furthermore, UV-visible absorption spectrum of the supernatant displayed a pattern very similar to that of styrene oxide (SO), a compound which has been shown to induce DNA damage by forming covalent DNA adducts. It is therefore suggested that styrene oxide and other residual chemicals in the PSNS may be responsible for the observed DNA damage.
