How Work Organization Affects the Prevalence of WMSDs: A Case-control Study显示文摘Objective In this study, we aimed at exploring the association between work-related musculoskeletal disorders(WMSDs) and work organization based on a case-control study. Methods A total of 1938 workers who claimed to suffer from WMSDs were selected from Beijing, Henan, Hubei, and the Guangdong province. The control group consisted of 2009 workers employed in similar industries without severe disease or musculoskeletal discomforts. We used a modified version of the questionnaire developed by the NMQ and the DMQ to investigate individual and work-related factors. Results A total of 13 variables(P<0.1) were selected by the chi-square test and finally, 7 variables entered into the equation, with 6 variables reaching statistical significance(P<0.05). The odds ratios(OR) of ‘work changing with season' and ‘sufficient rest time' did not reach 1(0.749 and 0.441, respectively). In addition, ‘sufficient rest time' seemed to be the stronger protective factor according to its higher standardized coefficient. And ‘repetitive work every minute', ‘constantly repetitive work'(every day), ‘shortage of site personnel', and ‘often switching shifts with others' seemed to be the risk factors. Conclusion Work organization may have comprehensive effects on the occurrence of WMSDs. This pattern of associations suggests that further investigation into the mechanism of how work organization affects the prevalence of WMSDs is required. | LIU Lu CHEN Song Gen TANG Shi Chuan WANG Sheng HE Li Hua GUO Ze Hua LI Jing Yun YU Shan Fa WANG Zhong Xu | 2015 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2015,28,9: | 11
Soluble Nogo receptor 1 fusion protein protects neural progenitor cells in rats with ischemic stroke显示文摘Soluble Nogo66 receptor-Fc protein(sNgR-Fc)enhances axonal regeneration following central nervous system injury. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. In this study,we investigated the effects of sNgR-Fc on the proliferation and differentiation of neural progenitor cells. The photothrombotic cortical injury model of ischemic stroke was produced in the parietal cortex of Sprague-Dawley rats. The rats with photothrombotic cortical injury were randomized to receive infusion of 400μg/kg sNgR-Fc(sNgR-Fc group)or an equal volume of phosphate-buffered saline(photothrombotic cortical injury group)into the lateral ventricle for 3 days. The effects of sNgR-Fc on the proliferation and differentiation of endogenous neural progenitor cells were examined using BrdU staining.Neurological function was evaluated with the Morris water maze test.To further examine the effects of sNgR-Fc treatment on neural progenitor cells, photothrombotic cortical injury was produced in another group of rats that received transplantation of neural progenitor cells from the hippocampus of embryonic Sprague-Dawley rats. The animals were then given an infusion of phosphate-buffered saline(neural progenitor cells group)or sNgR-Fc(sNgR-Fc+neural progenitor cells group)into the lateral ventricle for 3 days.sNgR-Fc enhanced the proliferation of cultured neural progenitor cells in vitro as well as that of endogenous neural progenitor cells in vivo, compared with phosphate-buffered saline, and it also induced the differentiation of neural progenitor cells into neurons.Compared with the photothrombotic cortical injury group, escape latency in the Morris water maze and neurological severity score were greatly reduced, and distance traveled in the target quadrant was considerably increased in the sNgR-Fc group, indicating a substantial improvement in neurological function.Furthermore, compared with phosphate-buffered saline infusion,sNgR-Fc infusion strikingly improved the survival and differentiation of grafted neural progenitor cells. Our findings show that sNgR-Fc regulates neural progenitor cell proliferation, migration and differentiation.Therefore,sNgR-Fc is a potential novel therapy for stroke and neurodegenerative diseases,The protocols were approved by the Committee on the Use of Live Animals in Teaching and Research of the University of Hong Kong(approval No.4560-17)in November,2015. | Hai-Wei He Yue-Lin Zhang Bao-Qi Yu Gen Ye Wei You Kwok-fai So Xin Li | 2019 | Neural Regeneration Research2019,14,10: | 6

Transfer of mitochondria from mesenchymal stem cells derived from induced pluripotent stem cells attenuates hypoxia-ischemia-induced mitochondrial dysfunction in PC12 cells显示文摘Mitochondrial dysfunction in neurons has been implicated in hypoxia-ischemia-induced brain injury.Although mesenchymal stem cell therapy has emerged as a novel treatment for this pathology, the mechanisms are not fully understood. To address this issue,we first co-cultured 1.5×10^5 PC12 cells with mesenchymal stem cells that were derived from induced pluripotent stem cells at a ratio of 1:1,and then intervened with cobalt chloride(CoCl2)for 24 hours.Reactive oxygen species in PC12 cells was measured by Mito-sox.Mitochondrial membrane potential(ΔΨm)in PC12 cells was determined by JC-1 staining.Apoptosis of PC12 cells was detected by terminal deoxynucleotidal transferase-mediated dUTP nick end-labeling staining.Mitochondrial morphology in PC12 cells was examined by transmission electron microscopy.Transfer of mitochondria from the mesenchymal stem cells derived from induced pluripotent stem cells to damaged PC12 cells was measured by flow cytometry.Mesenchymal stem cells were induced from pluripotent stem cells by lentivirus infection containing green fluorescent protein in mitochondria. Then they were co-cultured with PC12 cells in Transwell chambers and treated with CoCl2 for 24 hours to detect adenosine triphosphate level in PC12 cells.CoCl2-induced PC12 cell damage was dose-dependent.Co-culture with mesenchymal stem cells significantly reduced apoptosis and restoredΔΨm in the injured PC12 cells under CoCl2 challenge.Co-culture with mesenchymal stem cells ameliorated mitochondrial swelling, the disappearance of cristae, and chromatin margination in the injured PC12 cells. After direct co-culture,mitochondrial transfer from the mesenchymal stem cells stem cells to PC12 cells was detected via formed tunneling nanotubes between these two types of cells. The transfer efficiency was greatly enhanced in the presence of CoCl2.More importantly, inhibition of tunneling nanotubes partially abrogated the beneficial effects of mesenchymal stem cells on CoCl2-induced PC12 cell injury.Mesenchymal stem cells reduced CoCl2-induced PC12 cell injury and these effects were in part due to efficacious mitochondrial transfer. | Yan Yang Gen Ye Yue-Lin Zhang Hai-Wei He Bao-Qi Yu Yi-Mei Hong Wei You Xin Li | 2020 | Neural Regeneration Research2020,15,3: | 6
Microstructural evolution in Al–Zn–Mg–Cu–Sc–Zr alloys during short-time homogenization显示文摘Microstructural evolution in a new kind of aluminum(Al) alloy with the chemical composition of Al–8.82Zn–2.08Mg– 0.80Cu–0.31Sc–0.3Zr was investigated. It is found that the secondary phase Mg Zn2 is completely dissolved into the matrix during a short homogenization treatment(470°C, 1 h), while the primary phase Al3(Sc,Zr) remains stable. This is due to Sc and Zr additions into the Al alloy, high Zn/Mg mass ratio, and low Cu content. The experimental findings fit well with the results calculated by the homogenization diffusion kinetics equation. The alloy shows an excellent mechanical performance after the short homogenization process followed by hot-extrusion and T6 treatment. Consequently, a good combination of low energy consumption and favorable mechanical properties is obtained. | Tao Liu Chun-nian He Gen Li Xin Meng Chun-sheng Shi Nai-qin Zhao | 2015 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2015,22,5: | 5
Expression Pattern of Peptide and Amino Acid Genes in Digestive Tract of Transporter Juvenile Turbot(Scophthalmus maximus L.)显示文摘Turbot(Scophthalmus maximus L.),a carnivorous fish species with high dietary protein requirement, was chosen to examine the expression pattern of peptide and amino acid transporter genes along its digestive tract which was divided into six segments including stomach, pyloric caeca, rectum, and three equal parts of the remainder of the intestine. The results showed that the expression of two peptide and eleven amino acid transporters genes exhibited distinct patterns.Peptide transporter 1(Pep T1) was rich in proximal intestine while peptide transporter 2(PepT2) was abundant in distal intestine.A number of neutral and cationic amino acid transporters expressed richly in whole intestine including B^0-type amino acid transporter 1(B^0AT1),L-type amino acid transporter 2(LAT2),T-type amino acid transporter 1(TAT1),proton-coupled amino acid transporter 1(PAT1),y^+L-type amino acid transporter 1(y^+LAT1),and cationic amino acid transporter 2(CAT2) while ASC amino acid transporter 2(ASCT2),sodium-coupled neutral amino acid transporter 2(SNAT2),and y^+L-type amino acid transporter 2(y^+LAT2) abundantly expressed in stomach. In addition, system b^(0,+) transporters(rBAT and b^(0,+)AT) existed richly in distal intestine. These findings comprehensively characterized the distribution of solute carrier family proteins, which revealed the relative importance of peptide and amino acid absorption through luminal membrane. Our findings are helpful to understand the mechanism of the utilization of dietary protein in fish with a short digestive tract. | XU Dandan HE Gen MAI Kangsen ZHOU Huihui XU Wei SONG Fei | 2016 | Journal of Ocean University of China2016,15,2: | 3

Semi-Implantable Bioelectronics显示文摘Developing techniques to effectively and real-time monitor and regulate the interior environment of biological objects is significantly important for many biomedical engineering and scientific applications, including drug delivery, electrophysiological recording and regulation of intracellular activities. Semi-implantable bioelectronics is currently a hot spot in biomedical engineering research area, because it not only meets the increasing technical demands for precise detection or regulation of biological activities, but also provides a desirable platform for externally incorporating complex functionalities and electronic integration. Although there is less definition and summary to distinguish it from the well-reviewed non-invasive bioelectronics and fully implantable bioelectronics, semi-implantable bioelectronics have emerged as highly unique technology to boost the development of biochips and smart wearable device. Here, we reviewed the recent progress in this field and raised the concept of “Semi-implantable bioelectronics”, summarizing the principle and strategies of semi-implantable device for cell applications and in vivo applications, discussing the typical methodologies to access to intracellular environment or in vivo environment, biosafety aspects and typical applications. This review is meaningful for understanding in-depth the design principles, materials fabrication techniques, device integration processes, cell/tissue penetration methodologies, biosafety aspects, and applications strategies that are essential to the development of future minimally invasive bioelectronics. | Jiaru Fang Shuang Huang Fanmao Liu Gen He Xiangling Li Xinshuo Huang Hui-jiuan Chen Xi Xie | 2022 | Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,7: | 1
Target deletion of the AAA ATPase PpCDC48II in Physcomitrella patens results in freezing sensitivity after cold acclimation显示文摘CDC48 is a highly conserved protein in eukaryotes and belongs to the AAA (ATPase associated with a variety of cellular activities) superfamily. It can interact with many different co-factors and form protein complexes that play important roles in various cellular processes. According to the Physcomitrella patens database, one member of the ATPases, the cell cycle gene PpCDC48II, was cloned. PpCDC48II contains two typical ATPase modules and is highly homologous to AtCDC48A. PpCDC48II was up-regulated in mRNA levels after incubation at 0°C for 36 and 72 h. To further elucidate protein function, we disrupted the PpCDC48II gene by transforming P. patens with the corresponding linear genomic sequences. When treated to the same freezing stress, it was found that PpCDC48II knockout plants were less resistant to freezing treatment than wild type after acclimation. This suggested that PpCDC48II was an essential gene for low-temperature-induced freezing tolerance in P. patens cells. | WANG Hui JIN Shuo CHEN Xi GEN XuKe HE YiKun | 2012 | Science China(Life Sciences)2012,55,2: | 1

Effect of Dietary Lipid on the Growth, Fatty Acid Composition and Δ5 Fads Expression of Abalone(Haliotis discus hannai Ino) Hepatopancreas显示文摘This study investigated the effect of dietary lipid on the growth, fatty acid composition and Δ5 fatty acyl desaturase genes(Fads) expression of juvenile abalone(Haliotis discus hannai Ino) hepatopancreas. Six purified diets were formulated to contain tripalmitin(TP), olive oil(OO, 72.87% 18:1n-9), grape seed oil(GO, 68.67% 18:2n-6), linseed oil(LO, 70.48% 18:3n-3), ARA oil(AO, 41.81% ARA) or EPA oil(EO, 44.09% EPA and 23.67% DAH). No significant difference in survival rate was observed among abalone fed with different diets. Weight gain rate(WGR) and daily growth rate of shell length(DGRSL) were significantly increased in abalone fed with diets containing OO, AO and EO, but decreased in abalone fed with LO diet(P < 0.05) in comparison with those fed with TP. High level of dietary 18:2n-6 resulted in higher content of n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids(PUFAs) in abalone fed with GO than those fed with TP, OO, LO and EO(P < 0.05). n-3 PUFAs in abalone fed with LO was significantly higher than those in abalone fed with TP, OO, GO and AO(P < 0.05). The highest contents of 20:1n-9 and 22:1n-9 were observed in abalone fed with OO. The expression of Δ5 Fads in hepatopancreas of abalone was enhanced by high concentration of 18:3n-3 and suppressed by dietary LC-PUFAs; however it was not affected by dietary high concentration of 18:1n-9 or 18:2n-6. These results provided valuable information for understanding the synthesis of LC-PUFAs and nutritional regulation of Δ5 Fads expression in abalone. | LI Mingzhu MAI Kangsen AI Qinghui HE Gen XU Wei ZHANG Wenbing ZHANG Yanjiao ZHOU Huihui LIUFU Zhiguo | 2015 | Journal of Ocean University of China2015,14,2: | 1

Recent advances in amino acid sensing and new challenges for protein nutrition in aquaculture显示文摘From the conventional knowledge of protein nutrition to the molecular nutrition of amino acids, our understanding of protein/amino acid nutrition is rapidly increasing. Amino acids control cell growth and metabolism through two amino acid-sensingpathways, i.e. target of rapamycin complex 1 (TORC1) and the general control nonderepressible 2 (GCN2) signaling pathway. In the amino acid-abundant status, TORC1 dominates intracellular signaling and increases protein synthesis and cell growth. In contrast, amino acid deprivation actives GCN2 resulting in repression of general protein synthesis but facilitates the aminoacid transport and synthesis process. By integrating and coordinating nutrition and hormone signaling, TORC1 and GCN2control the switch of the catabolism and anabolism phase in most eukaryotes. Now, we appreciate that the availability ofindividual amino acids is sensed by intracellular sensors. These cutting-edge findings expand our knowledge of amino acidnutrition. Although the TORC1 and GCN2 were discovered decades ago, the study of molecular amino acid nutrition inaquaculture animals is still at its infancy. The aquaculture industry is highly dependent on the supply of fishmeal, which isthe major protein source in aquacultural animal diets. Some concerted efforts were conducted to substitute for fishmeal dueto limited supply of it. However, the concomitant issues including the unbalanced amino acid profile of alternative proteinsources limited the utilization of those proteins. Continued study of the molecular nutrition of amino acid in aquacultureanimals may be expected in the immediate future to expand our knowledge on the utilization of alternative protein sources. | Chengdong Liu Xuan Wang Huihui Zhou Kangsen Mai Gen He | 2019 | Marine Life Science & Technology2019,1,1: | 1
