| 1 | Treatment of meniscal tears: An evidence based approach显示文摘Treatment options for meniscal tears fall into three broad categories;non-operative,meniscectomy or meniscal repair.Selecting the most appropriate treatment for a given patient involves both patient factors(e.g.,age,co-morbidities and compliance)and tear characteristics(e.g.,location of tear/age/reducibility of tear).There is evidence suggesting that degenerative tears in older patients without mechanical symptoms can be effectively treated non-operatively with a structured physical therapy programme as a first line.Even if these patients later require meniscectomy they will still achieve similar functional outcomes than if they had initially been treated surgically.Partial meniscectomy is suitable for symptomatic tears not amenable to repair,and can still preserve meniscal function especially when the peripheral meniscal rim is intact.Meniscal repair shows 80%success at 2 years and is more suitable in younger patients with reducible tears that are peripheral(e.g.,nearer the capsular attachment)and horizontal or longitudinal in nature.However,careful patient selection and repair technique is required with good compliance to post-operative rehabilitation,which often consists of bracing and non-weight bearing for 4-6 wk. | Simon C Mordecai Nawfal Al-Hadithy Howard E Ware Chinmay M Gupte | 2014 | World Journal of Orthopedics2014,5,3: | 18 |

| 3 | Eosinophilic esophagitis显示文摘Eosinophilic esophagitis is increasingly recognized in adults. The diagnosis is based on the presence of both typical symptoms and pathologic findings on esophageal biopsy. Patients usually present with dysphagia, food impaction and/or reflux-like symptoms, and biopsy of the esophagus shows more than 15 eosinophils per high-power fi eld. In addition, it is essential to exclude the presence of known causes of tissue eosinophilia such as gastroesophageal reflux disease, infections, malignancy, collagen vascular diseases, hypersensitivity, and inflammatory bowel disease. There are no standardized protocols for the therapy of eosinophilic esophagitis. | 4 | Management of achilles tendon injury: A current concepts systematic review显示文摘Achilles tendon rupture has been on the rise over recent years due to a variety of reasons. It is a debilitating injury with a protracted and sometimes incomplete recovery. Management strategy is a controversial topic and evidence supporting a definite approach is limited. Opinion is divided between surgical repair and conservative immobilisation in conjunction with functional orthoses. A systematic search of the literature was performed. Pubmed, Medline and EmB ase databases were searched for Achilles tendon and a variety of synonymous terms. A recent wealth of reporting suggests that conservative regimens with early weight bearing or mobilisation have equivalent or improved rates of re-rupture to operative regimes. The application of dynamic ultrasound assessment of tendon gap may prove crucial in minimising re-rupture and improving outcomes. Studies employing functional assessments have found equivalent function between operative and conservative treatments. | 6 | Investigation on dry sliding wear behavior of Mg/BN nanocomposites显示文摘The present research objective is to investigate the effect of boron nitride nanoparticles reinforcement on dry sliding wear behavior of pure Magnesium and magnesium nanocomposites.The fabricated nanocomposites contains varied percentages of boron nitride such as 0%(pure Mg),0.5%,1.5%and 2.5%were synthesized by using powder metallurgy technique and followed by a hot working process called hot extrusion.The pin on disk equipment was used for conducting the wear tests for traditional loads of 5 N,7 N and 10 N at different sliding speeds of 0.6,0.9 and 1.2 m/s against the steel disk at room temperature.For all traditional loads and sliding speeds,the changes in wear rate and friction co-efficient(μ)with respect to sliding distances were observed and analyzed.The wear characteristics are observed with the help of scanning electron microscopy under given test conditions.To investigate dominant wear mechanisms for various test conditions,the morphologies of all worn composites surfaces were analyzed.Final results show that,for all nanocomposites the wear level raises with respect to the sliding speeds and loads.Magnesium reinforced with 0.5%boron nitride shows lower wear rates and low friction coefficient values compare with magnesium reinforced with 1.5%boron nitride and 2.5%boron nitride nanocomposites. | R.Vara Prasad Kaviti D.Jeyasimman Gururaj Parande Manoj Gupt R.Narayanasamy | 2018 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2018,6,3: | 3 |
