4Static Frame Model Validation with Small Samples Solution Using Improved Kernel Density Estimation and Confidence Level Method显示文摘An improved method using kernel density estimation (KDE) and confidence level is presented for model validation with small samples. Decision making is a challenging problem because of input uncertainty and only small samples can be used due to the high costs of experimental measurements. However, model validation provides more confidence for decision makers when improving prediction accuracy at the same time. The confidence level method is introduced and the optimum sample variance is determined using a new method in kernel density estimation to increase the credibility of model validation. As a numerical example, the static frame model validation challenge problem presented by Sandia National Laboratories has been chosen. The optimum bandwidth is selected in kernel density estimation in order to build the probability model based on the calibration data. The model assessment is achieved using validation and accreditation experimental data respectively based on the probability model. Finally, the target structure prediction is performed using validated model, which are consistent with the results obtained by other researchers. 6Phosphate recovery with granular acid-activated neutralized red mud:Fixed-bed column performance and breakthrough curve modelling显示文摘Granular acid-activated neutralized red mud(AaN-RM)has been successfully prepared with good chemical stability and physical strength.However,its potential for industrial application remains unknown.Therefore,the performance of granular AaN-RM for phosphate recovery in a fixed-bed column was investigated.The results demonstrated that the phosphate adsorption performance of granular AaN-RM in a fixed-bed column was affected by various operational parameters,such as the bed depth,flow rate,initial solution pH and initial phosphate concentration.With the optimal empty-bed contact time(EBCT)of 24.27 min,the number of processed bed volumes and the phosphate adsorption capacity reached 496.95 and 84.80 mg/g,respectively.Then,the saturated fixed-bed column could be effectively regenerated with a0.5 mol/L HCl solution.The desorption efficiency remained as high as 83.45%with a low weight loss of 3.57%in the fifth regeneration cycle.In addition,breakthrough curve modelling showed that a 5-9-1 feed-forward artificial neural network(ANN)could be effectively applied for the optimization of the fixed-bed adsorption system;the coefficient of determination(R^2)and the root mean square error(RMSE)evaluated on the validation-testing data were 0.9987 and 0.0183,respectively.Therefore,granular AaN-RM fixed-bed adsorption exhibits promising potential for phosphate removal and recovery from polluted water.Andong Hu Guoping Ren Jiangang Che Yulin Guo Jie Ye Shungui Zhou 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,4:4

15Study on Spatial Variation of Soil Moisture in Coal Mining Subsidence Area in Mu Us Sandy Land显示文摘In order to explore the spatial distribution and variation characteristics of soil moisture in coal mining subsidence area in Mu Us sandy Land,and provide theoretical basis for the restoration of the mining area,experiments based on a linear sampling and classic statistical and geostatistical methods were conducted. Spatial distribution characteristics and variation of soil moisture in the typical 0 to 100 cm dune area in the subsidence area and the non-subsidence area( control) were studied. The results showed that in the typical sand dune location of nonsubsidence area( control),the probability distribution curves of soil moisture changes in all layers along vertical and horizontal directions were all normal distribution,and it was consistent with the temporal and spatial variation characteristics of soil moisture in conventional dunes in Mu Us sandy land. By contrast,two years after the coal mine collapsed,the variations of soil moisture in different layers along vertical and horizontal directions were different,and soil moisture loss was more serious than that of control dune by nearly 10% to 30%,and the standard deviation varied from 0. 54 to 1. 05,increasing by 52. 08% compared with the non-subsidence area( control). The probability of positive and negative deviation greater than 1 was over 50%,and the coefficient of variation varied from 0. 14 to 0. 28,which was 80% higher than that of nonsubsidence area( control). After collapsing,the average level of soil moisture,standard deviation,variance and variation coefficient had greatly changed,and influence of coal mining subsidence on soil moisture was the most in the middle layer( 30-70 cm),and was not obvious in the surface( 0-20 cm) and lower layer( 80-100 cm).
