| 2 | Bone alterations in inflammatory bowel diseases显示文摘Inflammatory bowel diseases(IBDs)are characterized by a multifactorial partially unknown etiology that involves genetic,immunological and environmental factors.Up to 50%of IBD patients experience at least one extraintestinal manifestation;among them is the involvement of bone density which is referred to as metabolic bone disease(MBD),including osteopenia and osteoporosis.Bone alterations in IBDs population appear to have a multifactorial etiology:Decreased physical activity,inflammation-related bone resorption,multiple intestinal resections,dietary malabsorption of minerals and vitamin D deficiency,genetic factors,gut-bone immune signaling interaction,steroid treatment,microbiota and pathogenic micro-organisms interaction,and dietary malabsorption of minerals,that,all together or individually,may contribute to the alteration of bone mineral density.This review aims to summarize the prevalence and pathophysiology of metabolic bone alterations in IBD subjects outlining the main risk factors of bone fragility.We also want to underline the role of the screening and prophylaxis of bone alterations in Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis patients and the importance of treating appropriately MBD. | Dolores Sgambato Francesca Gimigliano Cristiana De Musis Antimo Moretti Giuseppe Toro Emanuele Ferrante Agnese Miranda Domenico De Mauro Lorenzo Romano Giovanni Iolascon Marco Romano | 2019 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2019,7,15: | 8 |

| 6 | Hallux rigidus treated with adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND First metatarsophalangeal joint arthritis(FMTPA),also known as hallux rigidus,is the most frequent degenerative disease of the foot.Diagnosis is made through both clinical and radiological evaluation.Regenerative medicine showed promising results in the treatment of early osteoarthritis.The aim of the present study was to report the results of a case of FMTPA treated with the injection of autologous adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells.CASE SUMMARY A gentleman of 50 years of age presented with a painful hallux rigidus grade 2 resistant to any previous conservative treatment(including nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs and hyaluronic acid injections).An injection of autologous adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells into the first metatarsophalangeal joint was performed.No adverse events were reported,and both function and pain scales improved after 9 mo of follow-up.CONCLUSION The FMTP joint injection of mesenchymal stem cells improved symptoms and function in our patient with FMTPA at 9 mo of follow-up. | Adriano Braile Giuseppe Toro Annalisa De Cicco Antonio Benedetto Cecere Fabio Zanchini Alfredo Schiavone Panni | 2021 | World Journal of Orthopedics2021,12,1: | 0 |
| 7 | Unicompartimental knee arthroplasty metallosis treated with uni-onuni revision:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Metallosis is the result of metallic wear debris in the soft tissues and is associated to both local and systemic inflammatory response.Metallosis has been reported after total hip and total knee arthroplasty(TKA),but rarely after a unicompartimental knee arthroplasty(UKA).In the context of UKA metallosis,surgeons often opt for revision using a TKA.However,in this paper,the authors successfully treated UKA revising the metal back only.CASE SUMMARY Prior to treat our patient we conducted a literature research through which we identified eleven cases of metallosis after UKA,ten(90.9%)were treated revising using though a TKA.Only one case was managed through a uni-on-uni revision,reporting high knee function.Our patient complained worsening pain and function after a snap occurred at 16 mo after UKA implantation.At 18 mo following surgical debridment and uni-on-uni revision surgery,our patient exhibited a relevant improvement in Oxford Knee Score and a reduction of metal ion levels in the blood.CONCLUSION Our study highlights that in case of metallosis after UKA,the treatment may be based on surgical debridement and just revising the mobilized components. | Giuseppe Toro Adriano Braile Gianluca Conza Annalisa De Cicco Assala Abu Mukh Giacomo Placella Vincenzo Salini | 2023 | World Journal of Orthopedics2023,14,12: | 0 |
