| 1 | Effect of vitamin E on oxidative stress status in small intestine of diabetic rat显示文摘AIM:To investigate the effect of vitamin E on oxidative stress status in the small intestine of diabetic rats. METHODS:Twenty-four male Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups:Control (C),non-treated diabetic (NTD) and vitamin E-treated diabetic (VETD) groups. The increases in lipid peroxidation,protein oxidation and superoxide dismutase (SOD) in these three groups was compared after 6 wk. RESULTS:There was no significant difference in catalase activity between NTD and control rats. Compared to NTD rats,the treatment with vitamin E significantly decreased lipid peroxidation and protein oxidation,and also increased catalase activity and SOD. CONCLUSION:The results revealed the occurrence of oxidative stress in the small intestine of diabetic rats. | 2 | Promoter polymorphism of transforming growth factor-β1 gene and ulcerative colitis显示文摘AIM: To elucidate the possible difference in two promoter polymorphisms of the transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) gene (-800G > A, -509C > T) between ulcerative colitis (UC) patients and normal subjects.METHODS: A total of 155 patients with established ulcerative colitis and 139 normal subjects were selected as controls. Two single nucleotide polymorphisms within the promoter region of TGF-β1 gene (-509C > T and -800G > A) were genotyped using PCR-RFLP. RESULTS: There was a statistically significant difference in genotype and allele frequency distributions between UC patients and controls for the -800G > A polymorphism of the TGF-β1 gene (P < 0.05). The frequency of the TGF-β1 gene polymorphism at position -800 showed that the AA genotype and the allele A frequencies significantly differed between the patients and healthy controls (P < 0.05). | 3 | Maximum Power Point Tracking in Variable Speed Wind Turbine Based on Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator Using Maximum Torque Sliding Mode Control Strategy显示文摘The present study was carried out in order to track the maximum power point in a variable speed turbine by minimizing electromechanical torque changes using a sliding mode control strategy. In this strategy, first, the rotor speed is set at an optimal point for different wind speeds. As a result of which, the tip speed ratio reaches an optimal point, mechanical power coefficient is maximized, and wind turbine produces its maximum power and mechanical torque. Then, the maximum mechanical torque is tracked using electromechanical torque. In this technique, tracking error integral of maximum mechanical torque, the error, and the derivative of error are used as state variables. During changes in wind speed, sliding mode control is designed to absorb the maximum energy from the wind and minimize the response time of maximum power point tracking(MPPT). In this method, the actual control input signal is formed from a second order integral operation of the original sliding mode control input signal. The result of the second order integral in this model includes control signal integrity, full chattering attenuation, and prevention from large fluctuations in the power generator output. | 4 | X-ray analysis of twin dominated deformation in an aged Mg-7Sn-3Zn-0.04Na alloy显示文摘In-situ transmission X-ray diffraction based compression deformation experiments are performed to study the twinning behaviour in asextruded(non-aged)and peak-aged Mg-7Sn-3Zn-0.04Na alloy.The axial lattice strains were measured in the parent grains,twins and the precipitates as a function of applied stress.The critical shear stress for achieving 5%twinning was found to be increased by∼26MPa by the presence of 7%of Sn and by∼50MPa by the presence of the particles formed after 10 h of aging.The evolution of twin volume fraction with plastic strain is similar in both non-aged and aged conditions,indicating no change in the relative activities of slip and twin in the ideally oriented(10.10)parent grains.Predictions made in previous studies of twin thickening stresses and twin bypass stresses agree reasonably well with the measured values,given the experimental error.Considerable relaxation was seen in the precipitate lattice reflections.This is attributed to relaxation effects continuing during X-ray data collection.Macroscopic flow curves confirm that precipitate hardening in the present system is particularly sensitive to relaxation effects.This is likely to be an important consideration for fatigue loading of precipitate hardened samples. | Ehsan Bahrami Motlagh Peter ALynch Thomas Dorin Pavel Cizek Alireza Ghaderi Matthew RBarnett Sitarama R.Kada | 2021 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2021,9,4: | 2 |

| 8 | The effect of natural fracture on the fluid leak-off in hydraulic fracturing treatment显示文摘Fluid leak-off phenomenon plays a critical role in hydraulic fracturing operation.This phenomenon can be very impressive in successful operation of hydraulic fracturing.This operation is very complex in fractured reservoirs due to the reaction between induced fracture and natural fractures.In this study with the cohesive element method,the effect of presence of natural fracture on the magnitude of hydraulic fracturing fluid leak-off is investigated.First of all,cohesive element and extended finite element method methods are described.The fluid flow inside hydraulic fracture and the affecting parameters on leak-off of this fluid on adjacent environment are analyzed.Then,effects of natural fracture on hydraulic fracturing direction such as deviation,leak-off and the mutual influences(which includes the changes of stress regime around the natural fracture)and also changes in pore pressure are processed.The results indicate that presence of natural fracture will cause reduction in aperture of hydraulic fracture.This decrease will lead to extension of fluid lag and eventually delaying of leak-off phenomenon.However,this effect is negligible against the positive impact due to shear and normal displacement on increasing leak-off. | Amir Ghaderi Jaber Taheri-Shakib Mohamad Amin Sharifnik | 2019 | Petroleum2019,5,1: | 2 |
